I had a great experience at Dim Sum King overall. Most of the dishes were excellent, and a few really stood out. We ordered several tofu dishes, and they were all fantastic. The braised tofu was especially delicious, super soft with a perfectly balanced sauce. Their beef tripe was also a highlight, authentic flavor with the perfect texture, not too soft and not too chewy.If you enjoy intestines, their stewed beef gizzard is a must-try, along with their chicken feet. And you absolutely cannot skip the durian puff, it's one of the best items we had, so generous when comes to durian filling . We also ordered the half duck. It was decent but not great. The meat was juicy but a bit on the fatty side, and the skin wasn't crispy the way it should be.It would be nicer if the skin had more crunch and if they provided more cucumbers and a slightly sweeter sauce to balance the flavors. Not everything was perfect, though. The steamed tofu skin rolls were a bit too oily for my taste. The Shanghai dumplings were the biggest disappointment. Its skin was thick and hard, the filling was dry, and they just weren't juicy at all. The beef rice noodle rolls were okay, though slightly under seasoned when comes to sauce. The service here is truly impressive. The servers are attentive, experienced, and thoughtful. They check on you at the perfect times, and we never had to ask for anything twice. They even have a service call button at the table, but we barely needed it even though it was a full house . It's very comfortable dinner with my family. Went on a weekend night and it was packed the whole duration of our stay from a 20 min wait to walking out the door dodging more people in the waiting area. Siu Mai ($7/4*) Plump and juicy. Salt factor noticeably lower than most other siu Mai's out there. Har Gow ($7/2*) Looked fine but zero pop in the center both in flavor and texture. Totally surprised on this, and not in a good way. Dry Saute String Beans ($20/4*) Perfect texture firm and vibrant with a dry intense coating. Lots of dry sauteed ground pork. First few bites seemed great, but after that we all noticed it was really on the salty side. Kinda fine if you're eating it with white rice. Seafood Pan Fried Noodles ($23/5*) They nailed this. Tons of fresh big chunks of seafood. Only noticed shrimp and cuttlefish both perfectly cooked bouncey and fresh. Gravy was not too heavy and softened the noodles in no time. Good amount of fresh veggies too so this is a one stop shop. Bbq Pork Buns ($6.50/4*) Suffice therefore good. Good ratio of soft moist dough to sweet pork filling. XLBs ($7.50/3*) I'm starting to think if a Chinese resto gives you xlbs in those little star shaped tins, then they are probably not going to be top tier. At least in my experience. What an amazing dinner! We walked in at about 5:30pm, hoping to beat the crowd on a beautiful Friday evening. We got seated and immediately hopped on the happy hour wagon! We ordered so many delicious happy hour eats on top of the fresh oysters. Then we ordered the main, our number one request was the tomahawk, who doesn't appreciate a tomahawk? We got a great spread on top of that. Then we also tried the short ribs and fish, so yummy. Then finally the dessert tray came out, my goodness, all heads turned our way, it was a wonderful and delicious adventure. The ambiance is really fast paced here but the service is quick and what's nice is they have this device on the table where you push a button for service and someone comes up right away. We got here and the place was pretty empty on a Saturday at 530pm but by 7 I guess they take reservations, all the reservations arrived and it was a packed house! The food is DELICIOUS. I've been to many dim sum places and this place by far had the best overall dim sum and family style dishes. When we were ordering half roasted duck, the guy taking our order said whole roasted duck is todays special for only $28. Peking Duck - the skin was so crispy and the meat fatty. I loved it. The kids liked the buns it came with and took them from the rest of us. Do not come here! This place is a total rip-off. We simply asked about the size of the boiling soup. As a party of two, we wanted a smaller portion because the regular size serves 8-10 people. When we learned they don't offer a smaller size, we clearly stated that we did not want to order it. However, our server went ahead and circled the soup anyway, even after we said no. He printed the order list without confirming anything with us. When we tried to cancel the soup immediately after he handed us the receipt, he told us it was already in making and could not be canceled. Your handed a paper menu with 100 different items - you check off what you want and it comes back to you dim sum style.. we always get the Tarot root puff, pulled noodles stuffed with pork or mushrooms splashed with light juicy sauce, Chinese doughnut, Yang Chow fried rice, Crab or Lobster done many ways, whole fried fish, spicy wontons either chili oil and pickled veges on top... just to name a few. Their porridge is good, and their beef stew is light and delicious traditional hot tea served. We always like to have a the condiments of the crushed chili oil, soy sauce, and red vinegar to add to all the dishes as you like. The whole staff is ready to serve you - we've been served by CY, Ivan, Grune, & May! A happy sweet crew! I am a regular at Dim Sum King, but my recent experience was very disappointing. I was seated at a table behind the reception, and despite my request to the receptionist (a thin woman with black-framed glasses) to move us to another location, we were told it couldn't be done because a large group was arriving at five o'clock. A woman with brown hair at the table behind us was very loud. I asked her to quiet down and requested the receptionist to intervene, but they only became louder. After I complained to the manager, he just offered a dismissive apology, and I felt ignored, with the staff even laughing at the front desk. It's become a nostalgic staple for my friend and I. we typically order way too much food, and every time we swear we will only order just enough.
