We returned for dim sum just for 2. We arrived very early knowing they might get very crowded later. As we were leaving, the Libby area was jam packed with customers and lines outside on the sidewalk. Service was good up until the end, our last dish did not arrive as we waited over 15 mins for it. I had to flag down a waiter who ran off into the kitchen to "chase it" down and brought it to us. All the dishes we picked were good, especially the siu mai and sticky rice in lotus wrap. The veggie egg rolls were crispy, steamed chicken feet was OK but I've had better, egg tarts were very small but the crust was flaky, the fried taro dumpling was gorgeously fluffy and delicious. Overall, the food was good and we enjoyed our meal. The flavors were satisfying, and we didn't have any complaints about the quality. The only thing that caught us off guard was that dessert was served before the main courses. Since I was dining with my little one, he naturally wanted to eat the dessert first, which unfortunately ruined his appetite for the rest of the meal. We came over to Ming Yuan after a friend of mine ended up going crabbing earlier that day, we had a few extra Crabs that needed to be cooked, and Ming Yuan will do it (of course, for a price!). We ordered a couple of items such as Honey Walnut Shrimp (Always a hit!), Roasted duck, Crab Meat and fish Maw Soup, and an extremely delicious beef rib. Every item we ate was a hit. I personally am always a fan of Honey Walnut Shrimp, and as I said earlier, a superb hit! The service was quick, we walked in and the table was ready for us, handed them the crab and asked us how we'd like it cooked, after a few minutes of choosing a few more items, the food slowly came out, it wasn't an extremely busy night, about half the tables were empty which isn't abnormal for a regular Monday Night. It was a nice and pleasant ambiance, and there was a group in the back having a birthday party, and even though we were right behind them, they were not loud at all. Sadly, this visit to Ming Yuan, we were here for a funeral meal. The food was tasty, but the portions were on the small side. The whole steamed fish was especially nice, as was the sweet and sour pork. The service was very good while dining at the restaurant, but there were apparently some hiccups while making the arrangements. Bottom line is you need to speak Cantonese when requesting things out of the norm(?) like the special funeral menu and to possibly open the doors earlier for your event. We were seated in a private room in back. There is not much of an ambiance in either the back room or the main room, minus the small koi pond at the entrance. They open at 10:30am and it is packed with people. Whole party needs to be present to be seated. If you go on a weekend be prepared to wait at least an hour to get seated. Waitress will hand you a number and you have to wait to be called, if you miss your number they will move on to the next party. We had a total of 8 people in our party. This year for Thanksgiving, we decided to eat chicken instead of turkey. It was a great decision to purchase from Ming yuan. Their roasted chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavor of the soy sauce chicken is very fragrant, not just straight up soy sauce flavor. I have been coming to Ming Yuan periodically since 2012. I currently live a short 3min drive from this establishment. I have seen it undergo multiple renovations since. Within the restaurant appears much more modern with a warm-cozy feeling with the new white/grey tiled walls with yellow painted posts. I personally don't come here for the "dim sum" portion eg. your typical steamed dim sums dishes like ha gow, shiu mai, beef tripe, or beef balls etc. Not to say they are bad here, but they get redundant really fast. I came here with just my mom. Below is what we ordered. Crispy brown rice crepe: 5/5, I typically rotate with these or the beef crepes. These are a must try if you've never had before. Essentially its a deep fried dry bean curd skin roll w/ shrimp wrapped with your typical rice crepe. Unsure what makes the crepe purple, however the qq texture of the crepe paired with the crispiness of the deep fried bean curd roll compliment each other so well. Salt and pepper tofu cubes: 5/5, usually it comes freshly deep fried after you order. They've got great black pepper flavor. So refreshing. Rice noodle HK style with minced pork with preserved vegetables: 5/5, This is a MUST try at any Dim Sum establishment. I personally love the sour + savoriness from the preserved vegetables; theres so much depth in flavor coupled with the crispy rice noodle pieces. There are many ways to order this dish eg chasiu, seafood, chicken, etc, make sure you tell them you want minced pork (yok si) WITH preserved vegetables (suan cai) Salted egg yolk bun (Milky custard buns H08): 5/5, perfect dessert to finish the meal. The buns are so soft and pillowy. Make sure to eat these right away. I find the most joy eating these when I split them down the middle, exposing the runny lava goodness. Caution as it is often extremely hot. Must try. They also offer a wide range of teas. I personally like oolong or jasmine green tea. Our family has visited this place from time to time, from weekday quick dim-sum lunch to takeouts on Saturday to occasional dinner. Their baked BBQ pork bun is the best in this area!! I do think their siu mai, steamed beef balls, har gow, steamed spare ribs, chicken feet, sticky rice & chicken with lotus leaf are fairly standard for dim sum restaurant at this price point. Another highlight, in their dim sum menu, is the rice crepe (aka "cheung fun"). They definitely nail it. Their deep fried doughnut wrapped in crepes don't only have the fried doughnut... but the fried doughnut is stuffed with shrimp paste before it's rolled with the rice crepes. The beef cheung fun, BBQ pork cheung fun, and the shrimp cheung fun are always our favorites to order. The crepe was silky smooth and the thickness is just right :) Their deep fried meat dumplings is also my personal favorite. The crispy wheat and glutinous shell is just spot on and the sweetness from the shell is just perfect with the savory minced meat filling! Service might not be the most attentive, especially during the busy time, but I think it's fairly standard for a typical Chinese restaurant though. They will refill your tea pot timely when they see you put the lid up. They bring out the food quickly. Just don't expect them to do small talk with you throughout the time. Their BBQ section is underrated. The deep fried squab and their roasted pork belly are the underrated item. And I love their roasted duck and BBQ pork - they are my go-to take outs whenever I have to do a potluck! I do keep this at a 5-star rating because the quality of food has been very consistent - we have visited this place before COVID, during COVID (including ordering take-outs), and even after COVID. After a really bad experience at another restaurant in the Sunset we decided to give this one in Daly City a try. Located not far from Westlake Mall, it's located on top of a hill, alongside other businesses. Here's how our experience went at this restaurant -- keep in mind that I did put our experiences over the rest of the reviews that I saw online: Food: 8/10 I'd recommend getting the party combos for 11 people since it's actually more than enough to feed everybody. A little bit more on the expensive side, but a very smart financial decision when eating with so many people. We got the $498 combo which consisted of 10 to 11 different dishes -- one of them being BBQ Combo Platter, Bamboo Pith & Seafood Soup, and more. The BBQ platter left my taste palates wanting more honestly. The highlight would probably have to be the whole Peking duck that we got -- alongside the sea cucumber with mushrooms and pea sprouts. I'm an avid chicken cartilage fan and they have a salted egg yolk pumpkin with chicken cartilage dish that is my favorite so far. It's not that great overnight but amazing when fresh! This place is one of our go-to places for dim sum when we want to stay close to SF (compared to the other dim sum locations by the airport.) Just lucky chance we saw one with 2 hours parking. They were busy at lunch but we were able to get our table for three. I remember my friend celebrated her 70th birthday here in a private room. We had Fresh Shrimp Crepes, Pan Fried Pork Buns with Veggies, Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant, Crispy Taro Meat Turnover, Sautéed Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce, Supreme Soy sauce Chow Mein, Fried Stuffed Bean Curd & Deep Fried Shrimp Balls. We were surprised we finished the flavorful dim sum. One friend asked for a candle & stuck on the pork bun. We sang the birthday friend a happy birthday song. I meant to write this review last month, but never got a chance to do so. I came here with family and family friends to celebrate a birthday, and I was really impressed. We ordered a variety of dishes, from sticky rice, cheung fun, dim sum, and others, and they were pretty good. The waiters were a little rude and got angry when we made a few mistakes on the order, so I think service could've been better. The place's noise level was pretty busy, but considering it was a Saturday, people were out and about enjoying a weekend. I would still come back here for some food in the future, just not the service. read more

So Far I Have Been To Several Dim Sum Restaurants Ming is one of them & Ming is another of my Favorite Ĉĥìnëŝè Restaurant in the Daly City Ca USA Area... I have been here several times for Yum Cha & Dinner..... And what I like most about this Restaurant is the Dim Sum & How Ming Chinese Restaurant Is Decorated & The Restaurant Staff Members Are Very Friendly As Well!!!!! And when coming here for dinner my favorite item from the menu would be the Salted Pork Chops & Walnut Shrimp!!!!! read more
