I've always struggled with thinning hair in the back, but Billy trimmed and blended it perfectly to make it disappear. His attention to detail was top notch. Great barber shop with great atmosphere. Went there this Saturday morning. Had 4 people in front of me. And was still out of there in 30 minutes. Looks like they have some guys that are regulars. Which is always good to see. Paid $24 + the tip. So not terrible pricing. They have 5 barbers working so not much waiting time. finally i have found a barber shop i can call my own! after years of getting my hair cut next door at grateful head one day before work i was forced to give a new place a shot. i was in between shifts at work so i went to my usual place and once again there was a huge wait of women wanting a perm so i had to look elsewhere. this was a common problem i was having with grateful head always a long wait and very little staff available to cut hair. also if i was in the middle of a cut i would even sometimes have to wait so a perm can be continued. fed up with all this i went around the corner to another barber shop but was told they were closing because he had to be somewhere quick. well i later saw him drinking beer at pyramid when i returned from my cut. that bastard! lol so i thought i would give this place dimaggio's a try! i walked in and it's very nice inside 5 large old fashioned classic barber chairs, a large plasma tv with sports usually on. i sat briefly in the waiting chairs and was browsing through the magazines and to my surprise found a playboy magazine. i was kinda embarrassed at first to pick it up and read it then i was called to get my cut. the gentlemen that work there are in there 50's and 60's and chat about sports, politics, and all the usual guy stuff. i even chimed in if there is usually much of a wait and it seems more so on the weekends. well i was hoping for more of a wait so i could read that darn playboy! lol i have now been back to dimaggio's dozens of times and yes i got to read my playboy! i sooo love this place it a guys barbershop. don't get me wrong i have seen mom's bring in there kids for a cut. this place is classy all the way. a typical haircut is $18 so i give them $25 every time. if u are in walnut creek any time soon stop in dimaggio's for a cut then into pyramid alehouse for a beer. what else can a guy ask for?!! lol read more

I came here on a whim when my usual guy was booked too far out for me to wait. What resulted was a haircut that inspires both regret, and enough anger to create a yelp account for the sole purpose of giving these guys one star. Do no get your hair cut here. Its as simple as that. I show the guy a picture of what I am looking for. In the picture, the subject's hair is about about two inches long in front, faded down to about a 3 on the sides. I wanted it a little shorter than that on top, same on the sides. I currently have a patch of hair on (only) the left front that is about an eighth of an inch long. The only way this cut can be evened up to fix the patchiness is to buzz it down to nothing. Fellow with a goatee, and small tattoo on your forearm, whose name I didn't catch.. were you drunk? Dimaggio's delivered the best hair cut I've ever had. Ever. My hair was cut from the gentlemen whose chair is 2nd from the window. Newer guy to the shop, but a pro at cutting hair. He used over 4 different scissors to "trim it up". My haircut was $20, but it made me look like a million bucks. Go to the Clip Joynte to get faded and lined up. I came to update my review of Dimaggio's, apparently I've never written one. So, this place is great. Although you can wait a long time there are plenty of barbers ready to give you a new 'do. Everyone is really friendly, they joke with you in an old fashioned respectful way, and do a great job. When I went to go get my head buzzed in April (a ritual I use much like a rain dance but for the warmth of summer) the guy was like are you sure? I had a very nice head of hair but I was confident in knowing what I wanted. He gave me an awesome fade and didn't miss a spot. I went in yesterday for routine maintenance and I wanted the same guy, but he was busy. I feel uncomfortable waiting for one barber when another is ready so I went with mister ready. He did an excellent job and was super nice. $20 for a cut is a little much but whatever, these guys rule and do a great job. read more

I visited Walnut Creek for Thanksgiving. I didn't have time to clean up before driving up there so I had to get a trim on Wednesday morning. I must admit, my barber experience is pretty minimal. I have a shaved head and a beard which I care for myself. I forgot to pack my trimmers. So what the hell, asking someone to take it down to a zero, trim my beard, and fade the two together should be too difficult. I'm no pro but I've figured it out. I walked in and was eagerly awaited by a nice enough barber ready to give me a trim. I told him to take the top down as low as possible without a blade. Trim the longer portions of my beard to the same length as the rest of it. Since it grows a little faster around my mouth and fade the two together. I thought we were off to a good start as he trimmed the top but anyone can shave someone's head. The next thing caught me off guard. I thought he was cleaning my neck up and he took a 1/8 inch guard to my beard. I usually keep it about 3/4 of an inch so this was a big change. At that point there is really no going back. He proceeded to trim my whole beard to the same length. I would think that he would ask before making such a large change. Next he worked the fade, very little effort went into this. The two sides were not even or done very well. At this point I'm ready to go and fix it up myself. He then asks me if I would like him to trim my eyebrows. No thank you. I'm not about to let you hack them off too. I gave him a $100 since it was the only cash in my wallet. He gave me the change and I gave him a $5 for a tip. It was the day before Thanksgiving after all. I figured $20-25 bucks with the tip for 15 minutes of work was fair. I didn't count my change until I was back at my car. He had charged me $30 for the cut. To me, this seems a little much. I'd happily pay that for someone who spent some time and care to make sure I received a nice trim but when I have to fix your mistakes and I'm in and out in 15, no thank you. read more

This place always does an awesome job. My boyfriend used to go to some people who learned how to do one male haircut, and he walked out looking like a 12 year old boy. So then I took him to my hair salon, but apparently they only know how to cut chicks hair as well. I used to drive by DiMaggio's all the time while I was working. He needed a haircut, and I had to practically drag him to Walnut Creek, but it was well worth it. We gave an example of what my boyfriend(I) wanted, and he came out looking like a million bucks! This is a great barber shop; it's clean, quick, and friendly. I've been going there for over a year. It's unusual to find a place where all of the staff does an equally great job. I just took my 1 year old son in for his first haircut last week and Sal was able to give him a cute haircut even while he was trying to avoid it by bobbing and weaving. He gave me a great haircut too that I was very happy with. I was told his name is Don (I think?). He has been filling in around different barbershops around Benica??? I'm not sure how well they perform for more exciting haircuts, so read this review from the perspective of a standard dude. Got there on a Saturday morning and the place had 5 or 6 seats filled. I had never seen a small hair parlor with that many people getting hair cuts simultaneously. Somehow there was one guy that was available so I sat down immediately and got serviced. He asked me what I wanted and I gave him a vague description--trim the sides, cut the top so it slants to one side, and layer it. He seemed to know what he was doing and within 20 minutes I was done. Paid him the $23 + tip and was out the door. In and out in under 30 minutes! They also offer beard trims for ~$10. read more

Well, where to start. I haven't been to a traditional Barber Shop since the Beatle's invaded America. At that time it was all about having a mop top and barber's did not understand it was "long not short hair." They where shear crazy! Off with the hair, it was outrageous I say. From that point on I was afraid of the barber. Recently, my hair stylist was unavailable and my mop was unruly and I desperately needed some order in my life. Argh, I was stuck having to find a new place. My wife suggested that I give a barber a chance, since now I sport a George Clooney haircut. Off of yelp reviews I went to this shop. Called ahead and they said they had seats open and even checked the street for spots and told me there were a few. Walked in and sat down with the owner who put his paper down and greeted me with a happy smile. I gave him the basics of what I wanted figuring he would wrap that in with his 38 years of barber experience and my hair came out great. I had run out of my brand of pomade and asked him what he thought of the new stuff he had on his shelf. He sold it to me for a cheap price and overall it was a great experience. I have had a few people comment on how good my hair looks. I am a new man! I will be going back and I hope to see all those guys again. read more
