I always love eating at Dimassi's restaurant in Katy, TX. Their new location is very nice and the food is always great! This a family owned restaurant and they take great care with food preparation and presentation. My favorites include the pita bread, roasted eggplant, stuffed grape leaves hummus, rice choices, chicken, gyro, the numerous salad options, and so much more! I've been to Dimissis all around Houston and I this is the best one by far! This location knows the right portions to put on the line so they can continually have fresh food. I visited on Sunday with a party of 5. They have unlimited lamb shanks per request and gyro. For those of you who haven't been to Dimassis, they have various types of salad, a variety of hummus, lentil and chicken noodle soup, beef and chicken kebab, untold options of rice, fried chicken, steamed tilapia, and few other dishes. We just got back from Dimassi's, and we were so glad we went in! EVERYTHING was delicious, and they had all of the different options to choose from! I hate to compare, but I much prefer this experience to Fadi's, as it costs about the same with the added bonus of being able try it all... also not having to wait forever for your food. I have driven by here hundreds of times since its near my house. I wish I ate here earlier. I've eaten at other Dimassi's before at other locations and love their food. This one didn't disappoint either. So Good! I forgot how good their food was. Spicy Hummus, kabobs, fish and chicken are my favorites! I didn't get the lamb shank here at the Katy location but tried it at other locations and its excellent. I love the concept where you pay one charge and everything is included; food, soda, coffee, dessert. I was so stuffed but so satisfied getting appetizers, main courses, dessert, and drinks. The lady at the counter was super friendly! I have to say they have the BEST COFFEE ever! Its so good. And their Baklava and Coconut dessert are both amazing and excellent with the coffee! Perfect end to the meal! So good that one of these days I have to go back just to get a coffee and pastries to go! The fact that its included in the meal makes the value really worth it. This place is located on the I-10 freeway and the building has been used by many other businesses...well, at least that what it appears to be. Do not let looks deceive you. When inside, you are presented with a pretty array of deliciousness. Workers were from Middle East, which is a big plus when I want authentic eats. Also a plus from me was that many people from that region were dining in the place while I dined. To me, that represents a good sign of authenticity. I'm a regular at dimassis, and been to all their locations. This location is in Katy, and did have a group on offer available. My items of choice are set each time. Kabobs, chicken mustard chunks, potatoes, taboulli, hummus and baba ghanoush. I was not impressed by this visit and hence the 2 star. The food was not warm enough and It was evident that it had been sitting for a long time. Also, few items were not stocked properly and there were empty trays. For example, the kakob tray was empty and so were grilled chicken. I did not see the cook who usually grills the items available, nor did I knew whether there was gyro meat available. Furthermore, I did not enjoy the taste of food either. It was relatively bland and not the typical flavor that dimassis is know for. We went on a Monday evening around 7pm and the place was relatively empty. I'm assuming that possibly an off night and I'm sure if you go around busy lunch time, there will be fresh food being served. read more

Dimassi's food is so good! My favorite items are the hummus, garlic sauce, pita, gyro meat, fried chicken and lamb shank. I arrived a little after they opened and the food was hot. The fried chicken was super crispy. There was a large variety for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. There are also a few desserts too - I was too full to try any but they looked good. They offer takeout too. As for COVID precautions, it was very clean. They provide and require you to wear gloves and your mask when getting food/drinks. They constantly monitor/clean the buffet line and the tables are nicely spread apart. I can't wait to go back! read more

The food was horrible and half (of the very limited food options) were COLD, and for around 100 dollars for 4 adults and 1 kid, just go literally anywhere else. The ambiance was okay, and I would say the service is decent, except the fact that there were no forks available for a while and we had to wait literally inside the restaurant while they were cleaning our table (it was left dirty for 10 minutes while we were literally just standing there). While other restaurants charge everything a la carte, there's just one price for everything... and actually, unless you're ordering from someones dollar menu, Dimassi's is fair! I am handicapped and I went in to eat with my service dog. They kicked me out because of my certified service dog even though I told them. They broke the ADA law and denied service to a disabled customer. I was so upset . I have a severe speech disability and they didn't know I speak Arabic. They started insulting me thinking I didn't understand. It was abhorrent. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. We got recommended this place by a friend and we are so happy! Our first impression was great. The place was calm, quiet, and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and easily explained how the buffet works. The food here is phenomenal in my opinion! I'm a big fan of Mediterranean foods so maybe I'm biased but I found everything to be very well seasoned and super traditional. Their rice pudding was a perfect dessert to end the meal. I really love this place. Me and my family have been going here for years since the westheimer location. The selection is enormous and the quality is generally very good. There are so many proteins and veggies to choose from. The hummus selection is outstanding and I enjoy their baba ghanoush. The bread when fresh is very puffy and fragrant. Stopped here on the way to Fredericksburg and I was disappointed. The food was not the same quality as the other Dimassi's. It looked as though it had been sitting out for a while and most of the food was cold. We did get the lamb leg which was delicious and hot and so were the gyro slices because they were heated up as ordered. New location. Prices outpace quality and value. Used to be a decent place but in our recent visit we encountered way below grade quality. "Munsaf", their lamb and rice dish. The lamb was nothing but fat and the Kaftah was over cooked and inedible. Cost us over $25 per persons even though they advertise having senior prices. Not going back. read more

My first review since I got here!!! Yay!!! :D With that being said .... I have to say, after reading the reviews for this place I was a little skeptical. Just a little. I love Mediterranean food ... love it. It may even come second to my love for Korean food!! This establishment, has got to be the best I've had so far. Yes, it's a buffet ... it just equals awesome for me. The one thing that threw me off was ... as soon as you walk in you don't have to wait to be seated, nor do you pay before eating. You seat yourself and of course, make your own food in the buffet line. You pay after ... I asked the guy behind the counter why that was, and he said I may not like the food so why would they charge me for food I didn't like. Seemed fair. No worries though, the food was outstanding. Granted I didn't have everything there .. and I only had one plate :| Don't judge me!! Back to the food ... from the salads to the baklava ... oh my gosh .... it was really really good!!! The salads were cold as they should have been and all of their hot items were indeed hot, not lukewarm as others have mentioned. I couldn't get over how quick they were to fill the food back up. And they were pretty busy!! Not one tray was left empty or less than half empty. And the staff were always around bussing tables. The place was clean! Even the bathrooms were spotless! What had me smiling the entire time was not just because of the food .. but because as I sat there, I noticed the wide diversity of ethnicities that came to eat there. With all the negativity going on it the world lately, it was nice to see this. Eating, conversations and laughter ... The human race hasn't let me down yet. As a new foodie for Mediterranean food I don't think I would visit this location specifically. I enjoyed the food and the options that were provided. The trays were almost empty and needed to be replenished. I enjoyed the hummus, chicken , rice, and the bread and pizza I just think any restaurant that their bathroom isn't clean and tidy their kitchen would look the same. I don't like that because that's where guests and employees use simultaneously. The food was good but the inside of the place needs to be refined. Same thing with the signs outside were old and greyed out. This spot is in a great location but I can't help what a few cosmetic changes would do for advertising. read more

Dimassi's has a huge buffet. There are many types of food here not just of the Mediterranean style. I have gone here with one of my co workers that just loves this place. Every time I have gone they have always kept the buffet full. It looks endless! Like most buffets you help yourself. There are salads, vegetables, fish, breads, many types of chicken and lamb, as well as beans and hummus on display. I guarantee you will leave full! This was a perfect way to get small samples of everything and then go back for your favorites. All the food was fresh, What should have been kept hot was hot and what needed to be chilled was. Dimassi's has some good locations, but this one is a step down from the others. Considering Dimassi's as a whole isn't quite as good as Fadi's or Aladdin's since they serve everything buffet style and can't put as much care into crafting individual dishes, that's saying something. The buffet is still massive, with staples like hummus and baba ganoush leading to a solid selection of salads, then the dips/dressings, then sides, and finally entrees on the far end. Unlike other Dimassi's I'd been to, there was no gyro meat on the actual buffet line. You had to request it specifically from the guys behind the buffet when they were present, just like you do with lamb shank at other locations. I ordered the lamb shank and absolutely loved it. It was barely lukewarm, but it was tender and easily eaten with just a fork. I'd say the lamb shank alone was worth half the price of the buffet, but the temperature made it seem like they cooked it several hours earlier and didn't have a good method for keeping it warm. The gyro meat, which I generally go for at places like this, was a disappointment-- it was undercooked (for my taste) and extremely greasy. It took several paper towels just to get all the grease off so I could try to eat it. I ended up eating 2 of the 5 pieces he gave me and setting aside the rest. Whoever is cooking it needs to change up their method. The rest of the entrees were kind of dry. The chicken kabobs were tasty, but the beef items tasted like they'd been sitting in heating trays for too long. Most of the salad items were fresh, and the hummus tasted just fine, but the area around the dips was messy and gross, with people having spilled dips into each other and no attempt made to clean it up. The place seemed short staffed, with people from behind the buffet running back into the kitchen for extended periods, or across to take care of customers who were checking out. That meant there was almost never someone behind the buffet line if you wanted a lamb shank or gyro meat. We had a Groupon for here, which is why we tried it. I don't know if I'd return at full price, but it may be worth the Groupon price if you get here early when things are fresher and cleaner? read more

My boyfriend and I nearly skipped this place due to the one, 3 star review. I am so glad we didn't! The surroundings outside are lacking. The exterior appears rundown. However, the inside is clean. All the food is fresh and full of flavor. The pita bread was still piping hot! Yummmm! The almonds in the rice were still crunchy, as opposed to being cooked to death. I even liked the falafel! I've never had falafel that I liked before. The weekday lunch buffet is around $10. I think the weekend lunch buffet is approximately $13. What a great value!! This is the standard for Demassi as far as I'm concerned. Super clean, super fresh food, super friendly staff. I never had to wait for my table to be cleared off finished plates and their lamb shanks were cooked beautifully. The food was fresh upon arrival and refreshed with a frequency which allowed for you to get a hot plate you each return trip to the buffet. Wanted to try the relatively new (relocated) Demassi's that recently opened near us. In general they had a pretty good variety and you will likely find something you like here. Some highs and lows, pretty typical for a buffet. Let's start with the good stuff, the babaghanoush and fried cauliflower were really good standouts on this buffet. The tabouli, baked potatoes, grilled chicken, beef khafta (both baked and stewed) and stewed mustard chicken were good. Now for some of the regretable stuff, the fish had a bad smell, like spoiled bad, could not take a bite after smelling that. The rice tended to be on the mushy side, great if you like soggy rice. The chicken pieces were rather dry & bland, in sync with typical chinese buffet standards. Our chairs were kind of filthy, but the tables looked clean enough. Prefer what I typically order at Fadi's, but worth a try if you're really hungry at $16 a pop, which includes drinks. read more
