This place is absolutely phenomenal. It's located right downtown Detroit on Griswold street. They offer breakfast/lunch options and always stay busy. They have limited hours and only operate from 8am-3pm and are closed on Wednesday's. The food was so delicious. They have seasonal items that you're able to try, and then also permanent menu items. This place is usually always busy, so expect a wait when you visit. The staff were super friendly and the restaurant is smaller on the inside. I wouldn't take a large group of people here, I'd stick to around four people max. read more

Talk about a diamond in the rough! This place was tucked away into a nice business building, but it was totally worth the find. A perfect place for a downtown brunch with some friends, dime store was everything I was hoping it would be. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict and had a coffee... The service was great, and everyone that assisted me was very friendly. I'm not sure if this place is black owned, but if it is, they are knocking it out of the park! The food was outstanding. I totally recommend this for anyone who's looking for a great place to brunch with lots of options. Cheers! read more

This little gem is in the Chrysler Bldg in downtown Detroit. It's a little bit noisy and tight but it's a fun vibe and great food and drinks for breakfast/lunch. It's is busy so make sure to get your name on the list as they do not take reservations. read more

Killer! It's called the "Dime Store" because the inside is about as big as a dime lol! No really it's super tiny so it's always packed and most likely on a wait but it goes quick! I would highly recommend. The food and service are great! read more

We arrived a few minutes before they opened and there was already a few people ahead of us! We ordered the corned beef and Mexican street corn hash. The portions are huge but we had no problem finishing! Both dishes were tasty and comforting! Service was quick and our coffees were always full. I came here, because it's within walking distance of my hotel. I'm so glad I found this place. I ordered a chai latte. It was perfection. I had mine made with oat milk, and added caramel syrup to it. It tasted like fall, and was so velvety smooth. I also had the steel cut oats. I typically don't care for steel cut, but this was actually really good, and creamy. My server was Syd. He had a great laid-back attitude, and seems like the kind of guy that you'd want to hang out with on a lazy Saturday afternoon, you know, when he's not serving up great service at work. I definitely suggest that you get here early. I lucked up and was seated immediately, because I was dining solo. When I left, at around 11:30 this morning, I heard the hostess tell a couple that there would be a one hour wait for their party of two. If you can't arrive early, you should probably have a light snack before you go, because it seems to be a very popular place, which means that more than likely there will be a long wait. read more

The Dime store is a lovely restaurant. The decor and overall vibes are immaculate. Whoever designed the interior of this restaurant should be very proud. The food is another beautiful part of this restaurant and it tastes good too. They do a fantastic job at plating the food. It is on the more expensive side for breakfast, but you know you are getting delicious food. Be ready to WAIT for a table. Show up at least an hour before you know you'll be hungry. It takes a while to get seated because it's so small. read more

This is a really solid brunch spot, walk in only which I actually like. It's not a huge space inside so there may be a bit of wait, but it's worth it and usually not too long. The food here is excellent and I would highly recommend stopping by! If you go with a friend, you should definitely do one sweet and one savory item because both are done really well. read more

Best brunch spot in downtown and 100% worth the wait time!! They don't take reservations so put your name on the list early and plan ahead. Wait times are typically 1hr+ They have everything you'd want in a breakfast/bunch menu including brunch cocktails and delicious coffee/espresso drinks. I always love sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen and bartenders do their thing. Today, my fiancé and I ordered two of their items off of the Chef's Specials (they normally offer four specials and rotate them every month or so), but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The biscuits are a must-order with any meal. The staff is also top notch (especially the bar staff)- they all work their asses off like a well oiled machine, which makes me want to support this local business even more! In the word of unfilled restaurants, the Dime Store is going strong. I sat at the bar thus avoiding the waiting list. Great breakfast/lunch hangout in downtown Detroit. Other reviewers have raved about the breakfast and I can't add anything more. One of the specials was the corned beef omelet and I just had to try. The corned beef did not overpower the meal and it is filling. Just look at the pile of breakfast potatoes. Also, note the smaller cubes. Quicker even cooking means less brown bits. I could be a regular if I lived in Michigan. read more

Delicious food, great service and fun atmosphere. This place was completely packed for Sunday brunch and I can understand why after dining here. I had the cheesesteak benny and it was fantastic. Small restaurant but nice. Hostess was VERY nice and energetic. Sat at the bar so service was quick. I opted for the brunch like option and got the Korean rice bowl with chicken. It had me at the first bite with the kimchi. It was delicious and I love a good kimchi! Loved that it was placed right on top and was still cold and refreshing when I went to eat. Sauce on it was a little sweeter than I like but mixed some hot sauce in it and was good to go. Was interested in some peach French toast I saw on here but they were an old special. This place is really neat looking, it is located inside the Chrysler House Building & within the building is also The Selfie Museum which seems cool but isn't open until 12pm on Sundays (which is the day we were here). The service here got us seated pretty fast and the server didn't waste no time taking our orders. I ordered a Bloody Mary to start the morning off right and I have to say that the pickle that comes with it is HUGE and the drink is very delicious, not very boozy but it will cure the little hangover I had from yesterdays extravaganza. The pickle was very crunchy and was a great flavor. I have to say this place is quite noisy but the environment is cool. So we ordered breakfast and I got the Corned Beef Hash and the wife ordered Cheesesteak Benny. When the food arrived the Corned Beef Hash looked amazing and then I took a bit of it and it blew my mind, the horseradish taste was to die for. I LOVE horseradish and this was right up my alley. The potatoes were nice and crisp, the Brussel sprouts were fresh and crunchy, the egg yolk was very creamy and the corned beef itself was seasoned to a perfection of levels. The wife's Cheesesteak was really good however it came with a salad that had a weird dressing and the lettuce tasted like it came straight out of the ground, it was not good at all. So in Conclusion the food here is Amazing! This place is quite noisy and it gets packed quick so you have to come early but All in All the food makes this place worth it. read more

Still a three star experience (but really a 2 star, I'm feeling generous). It's been years since I've been here because the wait isn't worth what you get, but we were in the area, and it was suggested so off we went. Long wait as expected. This place isn't cozy, it's cramped. Ordered the mushroom omelette and it was pretty good! Still the same bland "house potatoes". They really need to add some seasoning or something because they're tiny little squares that are flavorless and clearly they came out of a giant frozen bulk bag. They'll never convince me that someone's back in the kitchen chopping up these potatoes into these tiny squares. You still get your choice of toast, which is still a single piece cut in half. If you want more toast to go with your breakfast, order it as a side. Like, you couldn't give two pieces of toast? It's toast, probably the cheapest thing that you purchase in a restaurant. I digress, the omelette was tasty and I enjoyed my coffee. Service was OK, no sparkling personalities here, but they were efficient. The rest of my party enjoyed their food as well, but the potatoes are sticking point for all of us. lol I guess I'll see you in another handful of years Dime Store! read more

My friend and I visited for brunch before a Lions pre-season game. Though there was a 40-minute wait, the welcoming staff and nice surroundings made it pass quickly. We both enjoyed the Lafayette lemonade cocktail, which was very refreshing. Our server, Kelly C, was fantastic, recommending the mushroom goat cheese omelet and chorizo hash from the Specials menu. Both were delicious, with the omelet standing out. We also upgraded to the homemade biscuit and jam, which was a great choice. The service was great and so was the food. I had the biscuit and gravy bowl that was delicious. The gravy was so much better than you typically get. The Bacon in the gravy gave it so much extra flavor. I sat at the counter and Taylor and Lyndon were super friendly and helpful. The French toast was amazing. It was a little tricky to find as you have to walk in through the main building door versus the side door facing the street. This was the best waffle I've ever had in my life. I've never had a Belgian waffle in Belgium so I don't have have it as a comparison point, but in America this is the best that I've had. It was so light and fluffy, I practically inhaled it. I also shared the duck fries with my husband, and we both enjoyed them as well. Dime Store is a must try breakfast and brunch spot. read more

I brought my family here before an event at The Joe. I was expecting a wait, but not the 60-80 minutes we were told. The coffee was great as expected and the food was good also. Not sure if it is hype related or not having experienced before. Would I wait 60-80 again? Probably not if there are other options, which there are. The wait is primarily based on available space. Went to brunch with my girl friend on Sunday. Not the first time I've been there and definitely not the last time. Always impressed with the delicious food, friendly service, and upbeat atmosphere. Best time to go is within 20-30 mins of opening as you will not have to wait. Wait time steadily increases from that point and peaks at about 1.5 hours. I always go shortly after opening and have never had to wait.

I was going to try the greens but the server said they put vinegar on them which I don't care for. The Brussels sprouts with corn is a hard pass. I had no other choice but ordered something that I would never put together as a meal: fried catfish, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with corn. The fish was fried hard and needed seasoning and the sprouts were forgettable. They brought out hot sauce on the side assuming all people want hot/ spicy food. I wanted tartar sauce and they didn't have a traditional sauce- they had a " Cajun- style sauce." My friend had a crab cake for $25. When I called about parking, the hostess mentioned the cash lot behind the restaurant and.a parking structure across the street. She didn't mention that it was extremely expensive, I paid $24.49 for 1 hour and 6 minutes in the structure. Oh, I almost forgot that they added a 20% gratuity automatically for a party of 2! So, overall, my catfish dinner, 1 crab cake appetizer, and $2 up charge for the Brussels brought my bill to $74. Plus, the $24.49 for parking was a $100 night with no liquor only to have to leave and go eat elsewhere as what I wasted money on left me hungry and unsatisfied for sure.
