Breakfast Sandwich with egg, cheese, avocado. Delicious value for $8.
    Abigail S.

Dimes has a cozy understatedness to it, where you can get a solid breakfast burrito and enjoy watching the neighborhood flow through, a mixture of downtown chic and the ordinary. On my recent morning visit, an A-list celeb was there brunching with his family, totally casual and chill. The breakfast sandwich, with soft egg, avocado, and a whisp of cheddar served on a delicious roll, was my go to. The whole package has tremendous staying power and is more like 2 meals in one for me. I've also eaten at the Dimes main restaurant across the street, and for me, I prefer the counter service and more relaxed vibe of the deli.

I don't know about the salads and chia and acai bowls and that hipster healthy stuff, but the sandwiches here are pretty excellent. Just reopened in the original location of Dimes, now as Dimes Deli, they serve a small menu of sandwiches and pre made salads and bowls. They also have some drinks and pastries, including the excellent cookies from Ovenly. I tried the Western Fork ($10) (pulled chicken, taleggio, pickled kale and sundried tomatoes on sourdough Pullman), which was pretty good, but a little bit of a mushy mess after a few bites. On the other hand, the Summer Roll was great ($9). It's basically just a BLT, with a comically large strip of bacon hanging off, but what made it deliciously addictive was the Ssam Sauce slathered on the bun, as well as the slightly crispy, fluffy potato bun it was on. This sandwich is definitely worth trying. This is a great option for some lighter sandwiches and healthier fare. Plus, it's just 2 blocks away from Ice & Vice for a chance to ruin your healthy eating with some really delicious dessert.

I much prefer the more spacious restaurant just a block from this spot but for take away options Dimes Deli is a fairly good option for lunch. The tuna poké is excellent but for a fast casual spot it's a little too pricey.. I think I'll stick to sit-down lunches over at the restaurant..

In the neighborhood and was on a quest to try this "Dimes Acai Bowl" that I keep reading about. Walking up Canal, I saw the Dimes logo on a door to a minimalist shop and was slightly confused but went in. I didn't know it was a little grocery, and the restaurant was next door (tinier than I expected). Now I see- they moved the restaurant to Canal Street and these places are new. BTW- the Dimes Rose Water facial spray looks really lovely.. The Deli offered 2 types of acai bowls, I got the Energy one (banana, dates, blackberries, maca, coconut, rice krispies), recommended by the super friendly employee. The pricing is really high for the quantity. The bowl was about 6" wide and 3" deep. The banana & blackberries on top were very fresh but as for the acai part, it neither tasted strongly of any, or a blend, of the "energy" ingredients listed. The color looked much paler than the restaurants' acai bowls. I guess I shouldn't compare this to Hawaii's bowls either. I got bits of frozen acai? ice pieces with my spoonfuls few times. I wouldn't mind trying their Chex breakfast bars, muffins, or coffee sometime. I doubt I'd pay such steep prices for their sandwiches (Shake Shack size) or pre-packaged Brown Rice Bowls (maybe 1/2 a cup of rice--they DO have poke- but this for $12?) and Salads. Dimes, can this Deli be a bit cheaper than your restaurant pricing? (ie. Cafe Habana to-go) The space is teeny! (6 stools, 2 small booth tables) But it is gorgeously designed. There's nice touches of the white painted wooden ceiling, intricate shelving (pretty ceramics by an artist), the molded kind of adobe sidewall with a triangle and rectangle cut-in display shelf & inset long mirror. Japanese fabrics hanging to conceal a panel and the kitchen. I appreciate the under counter hooks as well! I feel everything has been thought out. Nice labels for returning "dirty utensils" & "dirty cups." However..there seemed to be a pretentious air to the place. I wish I could have taken more pics of the space & food, but a girl dining was side-eyeing, and I also felt that I was in the employee's way chatting with a cool looking friend, though they didn't have much room to move around anyway. Yes, I wish the place was a bit aloha poke acai white-washed walls cacti on shelves rose water welcoming, but it just isn't.

I've been coming here since it was previously its flagship restaurant Dimes. I'm glad Sabrina De Sousa has kept this tiny spot going as Dimes Deli. I love coming in here after my morning runs to grab an egg sandwich or burrito. Dinner favorites are the pickled salmon bowl, the grilled salmon and the soba noodles. I recently tried the roasted chicken bowl. The chicken thigh and leg was perfectly done. But the kale was a bit disappointing. Staff is always friendly and gracious!

This is a tiny spot, but never too crowded and I've always been able to get a seat even during peak brunch hours on the weekend. They serve an all day menu, which is great for me because it means their amazing breakfast burrito is always available. Love to come here after yoga and get the breakfast burrito with an iced coffee or their cayenne lemonade, and sit and read for a bit. I've also had their berry acai bowl, which will hit the spot if you have a smoothie bowl craving, but nothing to write home about.

Been here enough times to know that all the sangas here are crowd pleasers. If made to choose a favourite, I'd go for the summer roll.

Decor/actual restaurant: This particular location is very small and tight with limited in-store seating. The interior is cute, I like the blue color theme they have here. For a restaurant designed for to-go orders, I believe that there could be more waiting room and a couple less chairs. Service: Like many "fast food adjacent" restaurants, the people who work there have good customer service but I imagine deal with the worst. I know they're doing great with the situation they're in. Kudos to them. Food: this is probably my harshest critique. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, and it was fine. I don't believe it was worth the $16 I spent though. The chicken was kind of bland, tasted similarly to frozen grilled chicken pieces you buy from a grocery store. I do wish there was more sauce. The pesto tasted good but overall there was too much bread. I fear you would be better off making something like this at home for a comparable price. The bread was good, just too much. I don't want to base the menu on this sandwich alone, a lot of the menu options sounded delicious, but this was just the experience I had!

((4.5 stars)) Sunny…read moreand Annie's is very much a 24/7 neighborhood gem of a corner store and deli. it's packed with packaged foods--candy, chips, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, beer, and a lot more plus the deli counter serves ups an endless list of creative sandwiches. i am not going to say this place is cramped but it kinda is. for example, if people stand in the wrong areas of the store, it will cause a complete standstill of a traffic jam in the store. my advice: order from the deli (and stand somewhere people aren't trying to get to) or grab whatever you need, pay, and leave. this place is not a place to linger. keep it moving. anyway, the obvious draw of Sunny & Annie's is the endless list of sandwiches that are handwritten cards that are stuck outside glass of the deli counter. there is literally something for the pickiest eaters--from hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches, wraps, and more. some sandwiches are named celebrities, politicians, etc. i have ordered a bunch of different sandwiches and have not made it through much of the menu. you can also create your own Frankenstein monster of a sandwich. while the sandwiches are a big part of the draw, the insane amount of snack foods crammed into the store is quite remarkable from the large stand of Doritos, Takis, Cheetos and other popular branded snack foods in the front to the separate stand of Wise snacks to an entire back corner of the store filled with all kinds of chips, popcorn, etc. imo, Sunny's has the freshest-tasting Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. i know an insane take consider it's a packaged popcorn snack from a megacorp (PepsiCo), but i'll die on this hill. maybe it's cause Sunny's sells a lot of Smartfood popcorn so it gets refreshed often, maybe they have a secret in/pipelinbe from the factory, or it's just magic/alchemy. i don't know, but the Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn never tastes stale-ish like it does at grocery stores, the bags never feel deflated because they have been on shelf long, and the popcorn never has that soft mouthy feel but still has the crunch to it. maybe it's just me, but Sunny's serves a great list of sandwiches...AND the freshest Smartfood Cheddar Popcorn. beyond the snacks, the service from the deli to cashier is upbeat and friendly. in all seriousness, Sunny and Annie's is an Avenue B institution at this point and remains a charming family-owned store--and is NOT a sterile modern clone of a neighborhood business.

We used to get them on their round semolina bread which was absolutely amazing, but unfortunately they don't make the round semolina anymore. If you want a sandwich that earns your loyalty over decades, Parisi Bakery & Deli is that place…read more I've been eating sandwiches here for as long as I can remember, and the remarkable thing is how nothing has slipped--not the quality, not the care, not the magic. Every visit reminds you why Parisi has survived since 1903 while trends and neighbors came and went. Let's talk about The Dennis--the undisputed star and a true signature sandwich. This thing is a monster, built on Parisi's legendary fresh-baked bread that somehow stays crisp, chewy, and perfect no matter how much goodness gets piled inside. You get a crispy breaded chicken cutlet layered with thin-sliced prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and (if you know what you're doing) roasted red peppers. It's all brought together with their house balsamic blend and basil herb spread/pesto--bright, savory, and completely addictive. I cannot confirm or deny that the sandwich is named after me, but I can confirm it's flawless. Pro tips: * Cash only, old-school rules apply. * Come hungry or plan ahead--this sandwich is big enough to share or save half for later, and it still eats beautifully round two. * Tip the sandwich makers. These folks are artists, and the tip box deserves some love. Beyond the food, Parisi is living New York history. From its origins as an Italian bakery on Mott Street, to feeding generations of locals, to being famously beloved by Frank Sinatra (yes, the bread was shipped to California), this place is woven into the fabric of Little Italy/Nolita. Legends like De Niro and Scorsese are fans, and you can still feel that old-world soul--right down to the original brick oven relic resting in the basement. Parisi isn't just a deli. It's continuity. It's tradition. It's proof that when you do one thing incredibly well for over a century, people keep coming back. And once you've had The Dennis, you will too.
