I can't tell you how happy I am to have found some passable dim sum in the 805! It's been a long time coming and I hope with this spot growing in popularity it will only lead the way to more dim sum restaurants locally because lord knows we've been needing them! Ding is a new Chinese restaurant off Moorpark in Thousand Oaks. This restaurant has changed hands multiple times in the last year. First it was thousand wok, then dong Chinese food and now, not joking, it's called Ding Chinese. At least this location has a consistent theme. I was under the weather and it sounded good to have some dim sum, noodles, and soup. I remembered this spot so I ordered it for delivery. I can't leave a review yet for the inside and service but I still got a pretty good vibe from getting their food delivered. Pricing was about average and I see they have lunch specials so this could be where you get your best value. My order was as follows: Egg Drop Soup: 4.5/5 Shrimp Har Gow: 4.5/5 Pork Shu Mai: 4/5 Beef Chow Fun: 4.5/5 Shrimp Rice Noodles: 2.5/5 Overall the dim sum is really good as was the noodles and soup. I was super happy with these bites and would get almost everything again. The dim sum surprisingly traveled well and was still moist & hot when it got to me. They packaged the food nicely and their dim sum sauce on the side was tasty. Unfortunately they don't package chili oil with the meal on the side but thankfully I had some at home which elevated the bites. For local dim sum this definitely satiated my cravings and was tasty. I honestly can't wait to come back. I'm sure dining in will be even better and I'm hoping to take some friends next time because this is a great addition to the area.

Early in the year, I had seen on Instagram that Ding Chinese Cuisine was going to open in the near future and would occupy the former Thousand Wok Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar space. Prior to it closing, we had been to Thousand Wok a few times and always enjoyed the Asian cuisine they offered. RIP Thousand Wok... hopefully Ding does your space justice. ------------------------ Earlier this month, my sister-in-laws daughter wanted Chinese for her birthday and so she invited my wife, our kids and I to join her and her family for dinner. For this... I was excited for two reasons!! 1) Who doesn't like Chinese? 2) Another place to leave a Yelp review!! So all twelve of us made our way inside and they had already put a few tables together to accommodate our large group. (I believe my sister-in-law called ahead to make sure they could fit us). First things first, gotta scope out the menu to see if they have anything fun or interesting. As far as fun is concerned -------------------------- -Various dumplings (steamed or fried) -Bao Buns & other traditional Dim Sum goodies -Shengjing Roast Duck -Pan Grilled Radish Cake And then there was Interesting ------------------------------ -Pickle Pepper Pig Kidney (say that 8 times fast!) -Stir fried Chicken Gizzards -Hot & Spicy Pig Intestine -Pickle Pepper Bullfrog Anyone Hungry yet?? I see you over there making that face! lol But don't you worry; they have all of your familiar favorites... -Kung Pao Chicken/Shrimp -Mu Shu Pork/Chicken/Duck -Sweet & Sour Chicken -Orange Peel Chicken -Mongolian Beef Etc. This is just a few to mention, but they have others that I know you will recognize & love. Staff was super friendly, they did a great job interacting with all of the kids at our table which outnumbered the adults. They even surprised us and brought the kids a complimentary mochi dessert. Everything we had was delicious! So delicious in fact, that as each dish made it to our table, I didn't even have time to snap a pic before one of the kids rushed to the dish to make sure they got their fair share. There is a decent amount of seating and we were not the only big group that night! There was a large group next to us celebrating as well (I feel like they were possibly connected to the restaurant, maybe the owners celebrating the opening of Ding??) Anyways... I have a feeling Ding will do well and I will definitely be back soon to try some pig intestines and pickle pepper pig kidney.... ;) Probably not, but hey like the saying goes... Don't knock it, till you try it. If you're a T.O./Conejo Valley Local, come check out the newest Szechuan/Dim Sum Chinese spot in town. Ding Chinese Cuisine... Welcome to the neighborhood!!

Finally got to try this new Chinese restaurant in town. Ordered their lunch specials (kung pao beef and garlic chicken) that came with either fried rice/steamed rice, miso/hot and sour soup and a spring roll and some siomay appetizer. Nothing really special about the food. The service was pretty slow (had to wait for 30 minutes for the food to come) and the food was a bit oily to my liking. Not planning to return.

This is what they assured me was Jalapeño chicken.

So salty! Their Tranditional Sichuan Jalapeño chicken didn't have any Jalapeños in it. It was crazy salty and they argued with me. A never seen manager in the back assures me that it was in fact Jalapeño Chicken. Even after showing them pictures of jalapeños they argued with me. It was 100% bell peppers and that would have been fine if it wasn't over the top salty and called bell pepper chicken. This is the third and final time for us. We are not returning. Every meal was crazy salty and had issues. This time there was one other person and the last time I was the only person there. Sad to see.

For anyone familiar with Chinese soup dumplings, you know the best ones are made fresh to order right in front of you. But let's be realistic--if a restaurant did that here, the price per serving would probably double just to cover the high cost of rent and labor. With that in mind, I'm actually very pleased with the quality of food they offer at the price point. Besides the pork soup dumplings, I highly recommend the green beans with garlic. They're well made and flavorful. I also ordered the minced pork noodles with cucumber slices, and everything was very tasty. I came here with my daughter around 1:00 p.m. on a weekday, and it was pretty quiet. We were seated right away and really enjoyed the relaxed dining atmosphere. The server/owner was warm, friendly, and very helpful. I'd definitely come back whenever another Chinese soup dumpling craving hits!

The servers were attentive and efficient, bringing out each dish promptly. We ordered the xiao long bao, bok choy, string beans, and minced pork noodles. I originally came here after seeing a TikTok comparing it to Din Tai Fung. While not everything was exactly the same, they offered their own unique take on some of the dishes. The food was flavorful, the service was excellent, and we left full and satisfied. I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

There are many other options on their menu, feel free to explore. My kids are picky eaters but they absolutely love the Chinese food from here. I of course enjoy the authentic sechuan flavor being Chinese myself. The restaurant is kept tidy and clean, if you want a dine in experience I recommend you to make a booking, walk-in is very welcome but keep note that sometimes it gets really crowded. They have frozen handmade dumplings for sale too if that's something you want to look into.

Was surprised to find such an authentic spot for Chinese in Oak Park!…read more I came by for a Mother's Day lunch with my family. When we arrived around 1 pm, the restaurant was maybe half full. But clearly it was popular as people were coming in constantly the entire time we were eating. Even though the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, most of the dishes on the menu were more like Sichuan dishes i.e. spicy. All of the food was super solid and portions were ginormous. My recommendation is to order 1 dish per person if you want leftovers, or order one less dish than the # of people if you want to finish most of the food. I don't handle spice very well, so we ordered a mix of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We shared the following: #1 Yunan rice noodles ($16.99) #32 scallion pancake ($8.99) #104 Chong qing fried chicken ($16.99) #107 braised pork belly with buns ($19.99) #109 boiled two items - fish and duck blood ($21.99) Given that the restaurant is called Yunnan Restaurant, we felt like we had to order one of the most popular dishes from that region, the Yunan rice noodles i.e. crossing the bridge noodles. I really enjoyed the silky smooth mixian noodles as well as the flavorful broth. The fried chicken was too spicy for me; I ate one piece and my whole mouth was on fire. Everyone else said it was quite spicy as well, so eat this in moderation unless you can really handle your spice. The 3 pepper signs next to this dish on the menu are no joke! The braised pork belly was delicious, but portions were on the smaller side for this one. Still, I enjoyed making a little bun sandwich with the pork belly and pickled veggies. The boiled fish and duck blood was also super solid. It was just a little spicy, so I was able to manage a couple pieces with the help of rice on the side. Portions were very generous for this dish. We all ate lots of fish and duck blood and still had a ton left to take home. They also have some precooked 涼菜, i.e. cold dishes, on the side you can buy for dine-in or to go. We got 3 of the meats - pork tongue, pork head, and and beef tripe, to go. Paid $16.99 for a huge box of these meats. We thought this was a steal too. Can't wait to try some at home!

No biggie - patience is the calm acceptance that things can happen in a different order than the one you had in mind. I had to write a review because I knew one particular person was going to tarnish them because they didn't have that patience. As I suspected, he did. See the other review entry for today. It's definitely him. Let me share with you the chain of events I witnessed that allowed me to connect the dots so I can likely assume was him. With us other patrons waiting so patiently, because again, the manager was sharing with us how they were looking and was super apologetic. One can only tell you 10-15 mins but hey I knew I wasn't the only one there. Except for this guy who believed he was the only patron and should have been waited on hand and foot. He says 45 mins. I call BS. I was there. At the end of it all, he and his party walked out because 10-15 mins in a restaurant with patrons eating in and taking out was "too long." Thank goodness. Plus his attitude to some of the patrons was gross. The cherry on top was he was honking his horn to Mandarin Bistro for some reason as he was driving away. Um ok? In conclusion to that fool, YOU want private dining, stay your ass at home. It offers authentic Chinese food options instead of the mall-food sweet and sour chicken you can find anywhere else. Despite the extremely large menu, I haven't tried a bad item on the menu here (the staff recommends the basil chicken, and I second their recommendation, plus the hot and crispy shrimp). They also offer a few dim sum options as appetizers. The beef is extremely tender, the steamed fish is delicious, and they offer large portions. Even when in a large group, we usually have plenty of leftovers. Limited indoor seating, with what seems to be a bustling takeout counter, but they also offer outdoor seating for warm nights.
