Ding Tea is my most recent go-to for boba since I moved into this new area. I've been here a few times now and have been meaning to write a review, so here we are! Today, my boyfriend ordered their Brown Sugar Latte per my recommendation and I had Wintermelon Tea. These two drinks are my new favorites for now. I love how creamy the Brown Sugar Latte is, and I also love Wintermelon's flavor: it's sweet but not overly sweet. Customer service has been satisfactory during all the times I've been here, so no complaints there! It's located in a busy complex but I haven't had any issues (yet) with parking. Due to COVID-19, there is a cap to how many people can be in there at once, but, again, no issues! So far, Ding Tea is a solid boba shop that I've grown to like during the course of my last few visits. No bad experiences as of now and I hope it stays that way! read more

Date of most recent visit: August 27, 2020 With the recent heat wave, I was feeling parched after getting my steps in, but didn't feel like going to Starbucks or 85C. Since I hadn't been to Ding Tea in a long while, I thought it was time to pay them a visit. I bought myself a large iced Jasmine Green Tea with additional Star Jelly ($4.65 prior to sales tax & tip) - the tea hit the spot, and I could taste how strong the tea was. The Star Jelly was a bit of a surprise; I was expecting something like a star fruit-flavored jelly cube. instead, my drink had small star-shaped jellies that were pretty sweet and added to the flavor of my iced tea. For a while, Ding Tea was serving fried chicken and tofu bites, which I never got to try pre-pandemic... they're currently off the menu, but once this pandemic ends, I hope to see them back on there. Once again, as I continue my quest for the best boba this side of the Mississippi - I decided that I really like this place. Located in the middle of the newly revamped Mira Mesa Mall, it has a good amount of patrons. Nothing fancy in terms of decor. It's simple but has a variety of drink options. There is a TV but it's used to display their menu. I have to "ding" them one point for not having coffee available the day that I dropped in. Prices are reasonable. The place is clean. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Just wish they had a promotional gimmick to get you coming back. Most mom and pop places have one in place - so they need to get with the program. My iced milk tea with boba was pretty good. The consistency of the boba was perfect and not soggy. My drink had just the right amount of syrup that my left eye wasn't twitching after a few sips lol. Really good boba shop. Had the peach milk tea with boba and egg pudding today. Good taste, not too sweet. In the midst of all this coronavirus crap, I'm glad most boba shops and restaurants are open for take out. Prices here are a bit lower than most places which is nice. They have a good selection of drinks to choose from as well as toppings and add ins. I've only been to this location twice but so far, I have liked their service and drinks. People here are nice and work fast. They could smile more though, lol. Overall it's a cute boba place and I like that it's near Little Sakana and Crab Hut in the Mecca. Go to place for boba in San Marcos. Tried other boba shops over the years and never liked them as much. Personally, the jasmine milk tea here is my favorite and I really enjoy it. Not too sweet and a strong taste of jasmine. I found their jasmine milk tea to be the most consistently good tasting drink. Before, I used to get their signature milk teas a lot, but it was hit or miss half the time. Tried other drinks, but did not really enjoy the flavors due to how they tasted, or didn't taste I should say. I found it's kind of gamble ordering from here. I've received many drinks that tasted like cream on ice. Those were sad days, but understandable. Sadder days when waiting longer than anticipated for orders. Customer service is good! Everyone I've encountered was polite and kind. But I do feel it takes a little while to receive your drinks. I usually order online and schedule pickup times. But upon arrival on chosen times drinks were not ready for pickup. Resulting in waiting for the drinks, which shouldn't be the case imo. If only this was up in North County... it's one of my favorite boba places so far! The inside is pretty cozy and never seems to be crowded. It's a nice place to just drink boba and relax at. Their boba actually taste good and chewy and the egg pudding is even better too. They definitely have a lot of different type of flavors and so far, I enjoy Wintermelon Milk Tea. It definitely tastes good. They have so many choices that I wouldn't mind going down here to try different flavors. Prices is a bit high up but it's still worth it. It is always a plus when you find good boba and a cute place all in one! First time at Ding Tea was at this Mira Mesa location and despite reading all the reviews about how busy this place was, we had no wait at all. We stopped by after dinner around 7:30 and yes it was full but not too crowded. Although, upon sitting there were randomly big groups of people who came in around the same time which I can see how this place could be really busy. I got the matcha milk tea with cream and pudding, pretty good! Not the best i've had but definitely hit the spot because of all the sugar. I'm not a big fan of the boba balls but heard they are pretty tasty! The employee was nice and helpful when we asked questions about the drinks. I don't know why this place is rated higher. We r very picky with tea. We like our tea strong, and this place offers that! There are several places that served diluted tea(I won't name the place), which left me with bad impression. Ding Tea is going to be a regular to go place for boba! We had the kumquat lemon tea, and Hokkaido milk tea. Both were delicious. We loved the Hokkaido milk tea for the creaminess and nice caramel flavor that's not too overpowering. This place was recommended by a friend so I gave it a try. It's in a cute place with surrounding restaurants. It was just about closing so it was empty inside. It looked nice and clean. I was greeted and noticed the abundant choices for drinks and saw a sign that they had bubble waffle! I was excited to see that and had asked if they had matcha bubble waffle but was told kindly that they did not. I understand since it was about closing but maybe got to try it next time! I ended up getting honey green tea and Thai iced tea (both mediums) to go. (I forgot to take a picture of the Thai iced tea). Both were pretty good, but I personally like similar drinks elsewhere. The teas are kind of mediocre. The mango black tea didn't really have much of a mango flavor. It's just tasted like sweetened black tea to me. The jasmine milk tea has a hint of jasmine, but it didn't really come through. The boba was okay, but it didn't really hit that chewy texture. It was more on the soft side, and it was flavorless. I thought the honey boba would be sweetened with honey, but I guess not. The sweetness levels are kind of strange. I ordered their brown sugar milk latte with egg pudding and it was surprisingly good! I also asked for less sugar, since I'm not big on sweet food, especially beverages. And the egg pudding was an add-on. The boba was nice and chewy, and didn't have that weird taste in it. The pudding was smooth and extremely soft, but held it's nice chunky size and didn't turn into mush. The service was also really great. The server helped me choose a drink and she was extremely helpful and knew what would taste good mixed together. I would've given them a five-star rating, but held off on one star because they charge $0.45 for card charges below $5. This would've been okay pre-covid, but since a lot of people mostly use card payment, they really shouldn't be putting these minimum purchases and extra charges. Also, most, if not all, of their drinks cost less than $5. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the boba and greatly appreciated their service. read more

I've heard about Ding Tea and have always wanted to try it out and now I'm glad to say that I have. What I did notice though when I walked in was that there was this slight unpleasant smell when I walked in. I noticed that someone else has mentioned the smell as well. I don't know what it is, but it did put me off a bit when I came in. It should definitely be a thing that needs to be addressed. I ordered my usual, the Peach Green Tea with Golden Boba ($3.25 plus $0.55 for boba), with slight sweetness and slight ice. Personally, I think the slight sweetness was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. I could still taste a little bit of sweetness so that the tea isn't too bitter, but it's not so sweet that I couldn't taste the tea at all. I think I would get half ice next time though because they all melted before I even arrived back home. I also tried a bit of the Raw Sugar Milk Tea with Golden Boba. They can only bring it down to the Less Sugar level, so it has plenty of sweetness to it. They use real milk, so I can't have a lot of it, but it was pretty good from the couple sips that I had from it. Golden boba is physically a lighter color than the boba you get at other places, but it pretty much tastes the same, except for maybe a bit stronger sweetness to it. Crystal boba is more of this transparent jelly-like texture. Personally I still prefer the golden boba, but you can also ask for a sample to taste for yourself before you order. However, even though I prefer the golden boba over the crystal boba, the golden boba was pretty average to me. It didn't have too much flavor to it, so it pretty much only added a chewiness aspect to the drink. I came in on a Saturday afternoon and maybe I came in after a peak time, because there was barely any line there with a couple open tables. The person at the counter was patient with waiting for me trying to decide my drinks and sample the two different types of boba, but it might also be because there wasn't anyone behind me in line. The drinks came out pretty fast, so it was easy to just grab my drink and go. Overall, the drinks themselves were pretty good, but the boba is just average. There's also a peculiar smell when you first walk in, so I don't know what that's about either. read more

We've been to other Ding Tea locations and this was absolutely disgusting. I always order the strawberry slush and my daughter always orders black tea latte with boba. My slushy tasted nasty and was more like a smoothie consistency. I asked if they put milk or some sort of dairy and they said they put creamer (two of the three workers were very unfriendly and didn't care that we truly did not enjoy our drinks).....isn't Ding Tea a franchise and shouldn't they make it the same way in all stores? My daughter's drink came with no ice, very warm, and with cold boba that was not chewable. We honestly threw our drinks away after one sip. The workers didn't offer to make a different drink seeing how disgusted our faces looked (or I would not have left a 1 star review).
