    Lunch-portion wedge salad
    David S.

A very nice lunch at The Bull Ring. The restaurant has served lunch to mostly locals since the early '70s. Today, politicians and government staff dined around us in the bar, chatting away about local issues. We made a reservation though it wasn't entirely necessary with the bar 80% full. Friendly attentive service was experienced by everyone there. We were first-timers but felt welcome. The dark wood and green furniture seemed suited. A pleasant place for lunch. Ordered soup (creamy green chile), a wedge salad, and the Tuesday special meatloaf that came with mash potatoes, steamed veggies, the most wonderful dark gravy, and warm bread. It was all great! The star of the show was actually the gravy, so full of flavor. The wedge was fresh and crisp with maybe a couple too many ingredients for my taste. The soup was "creamy" by title but not as creamy as I expected, and that's actually good. Wonderful flavor. The potatoes were really good too. Portions. Price. Everything met or exceeded expectations. We will certainly be back, probably for lunch again. One last thing: we had a couple leftovers and, I'm surprised I'm saying this, but it was packed up extraordinarily well. Meatloaf in one carton, potatoes in another, a small cup of extra gravy in a separate container. I mean who does that? So considerate. Great attention to detail. Highly recommended. Next time I'm going to save some room for dessert, for sure.

Petit filet with a Pittsburgh sear

Let's face it, if you want to be in a place where New Mexico's elected want to "see" and "be seen" the Bullring is the place to have dinner. One of my clients loves the Bullring, and that is OK with me. It ensures i am able to enjoy the ambiance at least once a year. The service is very good. The food quality is also very good. So, why four stars instead of five? I blame that on the Pittsburgh Sear... a fun request that traps in the juices and results in a serving of amazing goodness. It is difficult. I am not sure if my order was misinterpreted or not relayed but the filet, which was delicious, lacked the sear ‍ I will try again on a future visit... maybe this time next year?

    Petite Filet

First of all, the pictures online of the interior don't do it justice. The ambiance is classic steakhouse but not outdated as it may appear in the pictures. The drink specials were fun, enjoyable and refreshing. We started with a salad and although we didn't request it, they were kind enough to split it for us both. The petit filet was supposed to be 8 ounces but it had to be 10+ while the filet was supposed to be 12 but was closer to a solid 16 ounces! Both were cooked to perfection, served on a sizzling plate and lavished in melted butter. The shoestring fries were generous and very flavorful as was the side of mushrooms. The service was outstanding from Ana!!

**I recommend making a reservation*** This is one of the "must visit" restaurants when in Santa Fe! The food and cocktails were amazing, however, the server could refine her skills just a bit. I requested bread and butter and it was never brought to our table. Her assistant was attentive and friendly. We were seated out on the patio and had a great time for lunch. This was our first visit and we left very satisfied! Did I say (write) that the margaritas were amazing?! Would go back to try dinner.

    Dessert

I came with my girlfriend for our anniversary dinner during our spring break trip to santa fe. We had a very nice time at the Bull Ring and would recommend it. I had the ribs and they were some of the best I've ever had, very tender. Our server was very attentive and made the experience nice. As college students, we weren't spending as much money as other tables - yet we were given just as good service. I really appreciated that and it's not something I see often. Our server remembered I mentioned our anniversary and gave us a free dessert. I didn't catch his name, but he was mid 20s. It had a nice interior, and was very busy when we ate there. One of the better dining experiences I've had recently.

No point in going as its like a typical Del Friscos you can get anywhere. Food was good and ambiance is predictable. Good for a business dinner.

Everything is more expensive in Santa Fe, and I know this when I go out to eat there. Even so can somebody please tell me what's the market, and what's the price? These are the questions I really want to ask when I see this on a menu. Especially when an 8oz petite filet runs $48 bucks, and everything here is a la carte. I had a salad and a bowl of green chili (which was good) but I couldn't bring myself to order anything more after deciding that my wallet just couldn't handle the abuse. I can certainly afford a fine meal if I want, but unless I am celebrating becoming recently divorced I can't justify it. Three people, and one with just a salad and a bowl of chili ran the bill to well up over two hundred smackaroos. If you are wanting a good meal but don't care about impressing people by being seen coming out of this fine establishment, I would suggest any of the other options of fine food at more reasonable prices available in town.

Disappointed with my experience here. Nothing was awful but nothing was great. Our service was definitely off the night we went- under and over cooked steaks, bland food, different items brought out at weird times... the service and food here was that of a mid-cheap establishment and not fine dining. The only thing I thought was done perfectly was the loaded baked potato. And it was very good but considering the rest of our experience it wouldn't be enough to make me go back again.

    New York... very delicious!

Do they allow wine brought in? If so, is there a corkage fee?

No, there is no such thing in the state of New Mexico... it's illegal. I wish!

The restaurant itself is beautiful. We loved the interior décor, the comfortable seating, and the warm, romantic atmosphere. There was plenty of seating, and the full bar offered an impressive selection of cocktails, wine, and spirits, making it a great place to enjoy a drink before or during dinner. We started with the Seasonal Shrub, a refreshing watermelon-cucumber soda, and a perfectly balanced Hugo Spritz with elderflower, ginger, lemon, mint, and tonic. The Tuna Tartare was incredibly fresh, the Street Corn Velouté was rich and creative with red chile popcorn and lime crema, and the Seared Crab Cake was packed with crab and cooked beautifully. For our entrées, the Prime Filet Mignon and Cowboy Ribeye were both cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with whipped potatoes, peppercorn demi, and sautéed asparagus. The Roasted Chicken was just as impressive--juicy and flavorful with confit potatoes, bacon, mushrooms, and a rich chicken jus. We finished with two fantastic desserts. The Bourbon Pecan Bread Pudding with salted caramel was warm, decadent, and unforgettable, while the Berries n' Cream with pistachio crumble was light, fresh, and the perfect ending to the meal. Market Steer Steakhouse exceeded our expectations in every way. The quality of the food, attention to detail, warm hospitality, beautiful ambiance, and impeccable service made this one of the best dining experiences of our trip. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting New Mexico.

We were warmly greeted and we're happy. It was on the quiet side since they weren't busy yet. By the time we left, it was busy! We really enjoyed our server, Paris. He was warm and seemed to take a general interest in us. I shared my concerns with him that my pallet doesn't tolerate much spicy. He at all. He assured me there would be no problem in accommodating that. He started us off with a complementary prickly pear & lemonade drink which we loved! He also provided a complementary appetizer which was very unique and made out of avocado and mascarpone and some other items I don't remember. Why I didn't love it, I did enjoy hasting something so unique and different. We started with the best cornbread I've ever had that shaped like a cob of corn with three different kinds of butters. The cornbread is $12 and worth it! Next came the Caesar salad wrapped in some kind of egg roll wrapper and topped with an anchovy mixture. We split it so we each got two rolls which was plenty. We very much enjoyed the flavors in the salad. Don ordered the Wagyu short rib with polenta. While we don't love polenta, this was tasty and complemented the beef nicely. Don said this was the best short rib he ever had. I wish I had a picture of how they presented it. When they took the lid off, there was a lovely steam cloud and it smelled wonderful. I had scallops with each one placed beautifully on top of of really interesting wild rice and finished with toasted coconut. The pineapple salsa and the Hoja Santa Fe Oil were placed in small rounds in the middle of the dish because they had some kick to them. What was especially impressive, is the gentleman who brought out my meal leaned over and said that the Chef wanted to let me know that the two items in the small dishes had heat to them, but I was encouraged to give them a try for the full flavor. Impressive! I was able to enjoy the pineapple salsa, but the oil was a little too spicy for me, but I'm glad I tried it.
