    Skirt Steak
    Gordon Y.

Cuisine: 4 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 4 Overall: 4 Talk about a disappointment. I traveled all the way from Queens in traffic to have dinner with my friends at this steakhouse that I have heard about in Hoboken. Unfortunately, I found it somewhat underwhelming. At the beginning of the night, the two dozen Kumomoto Oysters and the bacon appetizer both hit the right notes. I was expecting the rest of the evening to be the same. Sadly, it did not match up to the first few bites. Let's start with the overcooked lamb chops. They had a nice char on the outside, but it was because the inside were all well done. We asked for medium rare, so had to return it and ask for a new batch. When it arrived, some pieces were better, but others were still overcooked, but not horribly. Their skirt steak was also overcooked, maybe due to how thin of a cut it was. Though well seasoned, I could not enjoy a piece of beef that I have a hard time chewing through. Interesting enough, the best dish of the night might have been the Rigatoni w/ Sausage. I was skeptical of ordering pasta at a steakhouse, but one of my friends insisted on it. This pasta had a zesty tomato sauce, great sausage crumble, and perfectly al dente pasta. I would get this again, but isn't it sad that my favorite item of the night was not a cut of meat? All the sides were pretty solid. My favorite probably being the mac & cheese and mushroom, but the creamed spinach was fine too. Lastly, we got all six desserts. All were good, but nothing special. Ultimately, a steakhouse is judged on its meat. I just felt unsatisfied. I also don't see why I would travel so far to pay Manhattan prices in NJ for an inferior product. Therefore, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon, though could be persuaded to give this place one more try at some point.

I have mixed feelings about Dino & Harry's. I definitely understand the hype - ambiance was great, crowd was great and service was great. Food was also pretty good. I wouldn't say the meal stood out, but it also didn't disappoint. The reason for 2 stars instead of 5 is this - my boyfriend and I were having some bread before our apps and I heard a loud crunch and looked up to see my boyfriend spitting something out of his mouth. I'm not sure how, but there were some tiny pebbles in the piece of bread he was eating. We then told the staff just so they're made aware, but nothing was actually done about it. Normally a manager or someone would come out to apologize or something would be comped (not that we'd ask for that) to show the guests that this is abnormal for the restaurant or something. Outside of this experience, the food was solid. We started with the tuna tartar which had nice flavors and texture with the chips and cucumber slices. The empanadas were pretty good but I don't think I'd reorder them. They didn't really stick out to me. We got the porterhouse to share and it was a great cut of meat, very tasty and well cooked. For dessert we got the lava cake and I'd say it was the highlight of the meal. The tart berry sauce with the sweet cake and ice cream was great. The drinks were fine. The old fashioned sweeter than most that we have and the Manhattan had ice chunks in it when I asked for it neat. Our waitress (I forgot her name) was very sweet and very attentive. Great recommendations and super pleasant.

Was in Weehawken for work and after being turned away for wearing a t shirt and shorts by two places I decided to walk over to Hoboken and just go to the first place I found and I am so glad I did. Firstly the service was awesome, bartender made a great Manhattan and everyone was very nice and welcoming to me, even in my t shirt. The ambiance was a little sparse at 5p when I originally sat down but as the evening progressed and more people came in it became lively and the energy was really good! Now the food.. not pictured here was the ribeye tartare, impeccable. The quail egg nestled on top letting you decide how much yolk goes where and when is a great touch taste wise and aesthetically. I ordered the filet Parmesan, allegedly the first time on the menu, it was phenomenal. Think extremely well executed veal parm with less fat and overall a nicer piece of meat. I ordered mine with the vodka sauce and added some Calabrian chili oil to give it another layer of sweet heat. (I'm clearly really into Calabrian chilis in vodka sauce). The spinach was really well done, could have used a crust of parm or something but really enjoyable without. My only qualm here was the price but that could just be the area. I feel like the filet parm was priced perfectly though so maybe the specials menu is going to be the way to go. I would recommend this place 100% if you're in Hoboken, especially if you're in a t shirt and shorts.

So my wife came here years ago and said that we HAVE to try this place because from what she remembers, it was really good. Well, we finally had a chance to go for one of our date nights. Just hearing that this place is located in Hoboken already gave me the UGH I don't want to go. If you as a reader knows anything about Hoboken, parking is bruuuutal. It's like finding parking in NYC during prime time. Parking spots just doesn't exist. Luckily Dino and Harry's is in the beginning of Hoboken from the north side by the Lincoln tunnel. This might actually be the only positive thing about this place. The decor in the place is like any other steakhouse, wood everywhere, dim lights, and the smell of meat in the air. It seemed quite rowdy, this being majority of the time the guys at the bar flexing their money and buying shots for the girls half their age. For the table we ordered the Australian Wagyu tartare (special) , 2 ribeyes (rare and medium rare) creamed spinach, and applewood bacon Brussels sprouts. The wagyu was eh, no flavor and nothing special for the price. Ribeyes came out a little after, the medium rare came out medium so we had to send it back. They were understanding so they cooked another ribeye to medium rare. The other thing ribeye was the correct temperature. The new ribeye that came out, came out rare, luckily the first ribeye that came out rare sat out long enough that it cooked to a medium rare. Such a mess. Creamed spinach was a bit too creamy for me, but my wife likes it. Brussels sprouts were a bit oily. The only thing I thought was good was the banana bread pudding. Service was good, our server came to check on us, water glass was always filled. Would I go back to Dino and Harry's...probably not, there's other steakhouse that provide the same eh steak. If you would like to see other better steakhouses, I've reviewed some before that are also BYOB.

Can't believe it took us this long to come here! Very pleasantly surprised to have a solid steakhouse in Hoboken. Hubby enjoyed his ribeye and the cod was actually very good. Highly recommend the gnocchi side. Drinks were good too. Enjoyed my dirty martini. I think they use baileys in the espresso martini so not my favorite but for a Bailey version it wasn't too sweet. We came on a Thursday early evening and they were super busy so they accommodated a small travel stroller which we really appreciated cause the baby was sleeping and a lot of places won't do that. Overall nice dinner. We'll be back.

Came back here last week and was overall very happy with the ribeye. The dry-aged flavor, I can honestly say, was among the best I have gotten from a steak in recent memory. The tenderness wasn't the best, but the flavor and the portion size for the price was 4/5. Sides here are always phenomenal; make sure to try the truffle gnocchi.

I came here alone for dinner one night while I was on a business trip. The service was great and the food was AMAZING. Becca was so kind and friendly. I ordered the petite filet, three cheese gnocchi with truffle oil and an espresso martini. Absolutely fantastic and will recommend/come back!

    Transaction

Food was good the lady was nice but. When i realized i still got charged for the cancellation of a reservation, even when i cancelled it and rescheduled it in the time frame it said.. 25 per person. I called the spot took me a while i was calling for a couple hr because when i called a couple day before the host said call between 12 and 4. So i finally got in touch with someone. They insisted that i wasn't charged and dont se the transaction. I told them i was and even emailed it to them with the email of my cancelled and rescheduled reservation. But it was the attitude that took me back, as if i was lying. I have yet to get a response from the email.

Server was not friendly and seemed bothered to be working that day. We waited 40 mins for our food. Presentation was disappointing. Both steaks were cooked inaccurately. I've had better steaks for far less money. Most likely will never come here again.

Corkbuzz is a wine bar inside Chelsea Market. While I typically find Chelsea Market a little too crowded and chaotic to be comfortable, my husband and I dropped in specifically for some wine and a snack in the later afternoon on Saturday. The wine bar is comfortable and cool. We grabbed a couple of barstools, ordered 1 wine (a Slovenian wine for me), 2 cocktails (for my husband; he liked the cocktail so much, he ordered a second), and a white bean dip with focaccia bread, that was garlicky and delicious. It was a comfortable place to enjoy a drink and a snack. I'd be happy to stop by again - if it's still open?!

I came in on a Wednesday night at 8pm, it was empty and we were seated right away. The entire store and bar is very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There's 3 floors, the bottom floor which located another bar, the main floor which is street level and has the coffee bar and merch, and the top floor which included the Arriviamo Bar. Our server was very nice but didn't catch his name. We couldn't choose which drinks to get so we settled on the espresso martini flight which includes their espresso martini, double matcha espresso margarita, and ube espresso martini. * Espresso martini: tasted good, foam was perfect sweetness, can barely taste the alcohol * Double matcha margarita: good, matcha foam was good, you can definitely taste the tequila in this but they seem to use good tequila * Ube martini: nice sweet drink, but doesn't taste like ube at all (to be expected, but the ube cold foam on their regular coffee drinks has more of a hint of ube than this drink does) * Matcha butterfly pea swirl cake: has a nice dense texture, light taste of matcha, butterfly pea cream also has a thick creamy texture and a very light taste, perfect snack for a drink with a strong taste Overall good experience, would definitely be back to try the other drinks here and downstairs.

It was a fabulous setup with beautiful strung up lights lining the ceiling. While we waited to be seated we were given glasses of sparkling white wine. Our waiter told us that the space for the JBF LTD was donated by one of the JBF board members. Very cool. Eventually, we were seated at our communal table and were given a green garden gazpacho to start. It had pickled green strawberries which were surprisingly very good. Usually you throw the green strawberries out of the bunch and only eat the red ripe ones. David Kinch opened our eyes to eating this unripened fruit and I will never look at green strawberries the same! The soup was paired with vegetable beignets and a crispy vegetable chip - both were just perfect. Our next course was my girlfriend's favorite - an abalone salad nestled on a bed of romaine lettuce coupled with grilled cucumbers and an avocado-nori sauce. I loved the avocado-nori sauce with the tender abalone. The entree came next and was a succulent porcelet with the best crispy pork skins! It was served communal style which was kind of cool. There were two cuts of meat - belly and tenderloin. My favorite part was the skins. Dessert was a lovely popover with powdered sugar. Sweet, simple, and delicious. We had different wine pairings with each course and were semi-tipsy by then end of the meal. The best treat of the night was when David Kinch and John Paul Carmona came out and greeted the diners. They were both kind enough to sign my copy of the menu also. I'll be on the watch out for next years JBF pop up!
