Like the fact that shes open past 6 when all the other shops close- that way you can stop in before or after cocktails downtown.

We were so close to finishing our alterations until I had to postpone the wedding once the pandemic started. At that time, Shelley kindly offered to hold onto my two dresses at her place. After a year, once weddings slowly started resuming, I reached out and told her I would pick it up to make room for her other clients, and she left detailed notes inside my garment bag so that we'd know where we had left off, and how much of the fees had already been paid. I reached out to her assistant in January 2022, and was easily able to resume where we left off with alterations. And I finally just got married late February !! By the way, the fees that Shelley charges are absolutely reasonable and probably the lowest you could find anywhere! Best of all, Shelley is so kind and funny, and made me feel so comfortable every time I came to visit. She knows her stuff, and does great, honest work. Both of my dresses were hemmed and tailored so well, and I'm so grateful for her.

The owner or shop keeper was talking it up with some kids at the register. Reminds me of the good old days when going to certain stores was a cool experience and Ipso is one of them. They are located on the west side of Harbor Blvd, north of Chapman and in the heart of downtown so there's plenty of restaurants and eateries to choose from and walking distance to the train station and if you want to catch the bus, it's on the same street as Disneyland, just a half hour south on Harbor.

But their dresses are cheaply made and even the woman who worked there admitted they ran small. In most stores I wear a size 22, which is about a 2X, but their 2X would be more like a 16 or smaller. Even their 4 and 5 Xs didn't fit me. One was too big, the other wouldn't zip up. I can understand the dressing room rules, especially the part about men not standing around them - there's no doors, just curtains, and pull as I would, there was still an inch gap on either side. In the end I felt bad because I left with nothing. However, what could I do? Most dresses didn't fit. The ones that did were so huge even on a fatty like me I could've fit an average size woman in there with me. One thing I don't get, and even the saleswoman agreed with me that it made no sense, why do formal dresses always have to be sleeveless? A lot of women, both skinny and fat, should not show their arms. I guess if I dropped more weight I could fit into their 4X, but at this time, I guess I'm stuck with having to have the dress I need custom made because this was the only store I've found that carried formal dresses that actually looked like formal gowns. (Even Nordstroms has failed me recently.) But their idea of a 2X is just too small.

The pricing is detailed on the website and I expected to pay for the amount of work done in and in such a short amount of time. I booked a consultation to hem and bustle my wedding dress with Dorie. When I arrived she had me…read moreput the dress on, then immediately began pinning it to hem and bustle with no conversation about what I wanted or what it would cost. When they finished pinning, they asked me to dress and then we finally discussed price. I was quoted $800 and was asked to prepay in full, in cash or check. This was not mentioned before the appointment at all. When I said I was not ready to pay today, she showed me other clients' pre-paid invoices to encourage me and let me know that this is what she asks of everyone. I ended up leaving my dress with her and had to set a time to come back and drop off the cash. I talked with my mom about what happened on my way home from the appointment, as I felt a bit uneasy about what had just happened and she agreed with me. So, I contacted Dorie to tell her I'd like to come pickup my dress to get other quotes for the alterations. I stated I could come at our already scheduled time or sooner. What followed was several days of pushback, with messages about how many brides come back to her, screenshots of 5-star reviews, offers of a discount (which was not mentioned before) a "sleep on it, relax" message, and a follow-up offering to split payment in half (which I asked about and had been told that was not an option, it was prepay only). I picked up my dress without incident, there was another bride there so Dorie's husband helped me get my gown back into the garment bag. I thought that was that but received another review screenshot two days later, at which point I blocked her number. Too much of a hard sell for me. I've since found another seamstress who did a full consultation with me discussing price and options to figure out what I liked best, and making sure I did want to go forward with her services, before putting a single pin in my gown. This is what I was expecting to have happen with Dorie based on all the great reviews but that was not my experience.

If you're looking for a fine men's suit with superior service then look no further than Dino's. My son's wedding was a month away and I'd gone to another men's clothier ( I will not mention them by name) But suffice it to say that they failed at every turn. They even ordered the wrong suit for me. I'd ordered a wool suit and instead they tried to pass off a polyester suit to me as the wool suit which they had charged me. When I realized this it was less than a week from my son's wedding and by fortune I located Dino's. He carried the exact suit that I was trying to buy at the other men's clothier. It was 100% wool and by the same manufacturer. He didn't have it in my size but he ordered it got it there in a couple of days and then fitted me the next day and had it done and ready for me to wear it my son's wedding. And he did this for less than what the other clothier was going to charge me. The other clothier has lost me as a customer for life but Dino, he is gaining me as a customer for the rest of my life. Just picked up my classic sport coat that I had tailored by Dino; had the sleeves shortened. Quality work and fair price. I initially searched and had phone inquiries with three other tailors. In the end, he seemed most knowledgeable and had the best price. Also enjoyed our discussion involving John Molloy's timeless book "Dress for Success" and the different coat 'vent' types: No Vent (Italian), Single Vent (American/Continental) and Double Vent (English/British). In the end, we both agreed that the hard-to-find Single Vent was the best looking and practical of the three. Give Dino a call for your next tailoring task. Located in downtown Santa Ana so there is street parking, but there is a small lot behind the building with only 5-6 spots.

When I came in to pick it up, the sleeves were not cut, they're two different sizes, the neckline wasn't cut to size and I looked like the background dancers in the goofy movie with the broad shoulders. There's so much bunching in the top since I have smaller breast and I pointed that out on Monday and he just kept repeating "I cut where I pin" anyone can do that. So since he was only going to cut what he pins, which was not our initial discussion, I took the time to explain. Show him the video again. I made it a point to make sure that he was going to be able to do this the way that I wanted before dropping it off because I would've spent more time looking for places that were capable of following instructions. Thankfully, I recorded our conversation and reported it to the Better Business Bureau. They just kept repeating the same sentence over and over again to the point where I started yelling over them and they started calling me crazy because I didn't want them to "fix anything" and I wanted a refund. Still have a destroyed unwearable jersey and no refund.
