LOVE! LOVE! LOVE this woman. Ive been seeing her for the past 7 years and everytime I risk using someone else I always regret it. Her prices are absolutely great, she is quick, and you never have to wait for long. Ive been to other so called upscale salons for hair removal and no one has compared to her efficiency. Sure her location can use an upgrade, its not the flashiest of places but she always gets the job done right and at a reasonable price. Dipti was my go to for Brazilian waxing for almost 4 years now. I went to her because she was fast and very affordable compared to other waxing places, only $40! Unfortunately they only accept cash so make sure to have it ready beforehand! I was still even going to her even though I moved from Skokie to Roscoe Village. I liked going to her because I was literally in and out from the place within 5-10 minutes and it was super cheap. I'm giving this place 4 stars because not everything comes off during the waxing and she double dips the stick that she uses, which is unsanitary. I also don't see her sanitizing her hands before and after she's working on me. I've also noticed a difference on how she pulls the waxing strip off me compared to the recent waxing lady I saw. She would pull the waxing strip off so hard and fast, and yes it does hurt. She would also request me to pull my skin towards my stomach so it helps her get all the hairs out. Unfortunately I would still have fine hairs left behind, she wouldn't even pluck them. Would I still go back to her? Maybe if I'm on a tighter budget or I'm in the area. read more

I drive 50 minutes every week to go to Dipti's - NO ONE can thread like her, she is the absolute best! You might have to wait though, even if you get there early, but that just tells you how awesome she is. I have tried out other places much closer to home and they cannot compare. She is totally worth my drive. Also, the girls who wax there are just as great - they wax me better than the higher-priced salons at less than half the price. Visited here per the suggestion of a "regular" here. I didn't know what to expect, I have never let anyone else do my eyebrows in over 7 years but my normal lady was out of town. Long story short, I go here and very impressed with how great my eyebrows turned out. I didn't get a chance to catch the lady's name but I do believe she is the owner. Worst experience ever! I had to get my eyebrows done and I decided to go to Dipti regardless of the horrible things I've heard about her, I decided to still go there and check it out myself. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I've been growing out my eyebrows for the past year and I just needed a cleaning. I specially told Dipti to just clean and I pointed out to her where to thread and where not to touch. After she was finished, I thought my eyes where playing tricks on me but realized that she waxed most of my eyebrows off. I WAS TERRIFIED. I couldn't believe what she had done. I was calm and pointed out what she did and she kept denying it and continued to thread someones eyebrows. She didn't even stop to apologize. Not only did she take most of my eyebrows off, they were uneven and i ran out of there in tears. I really couldn't believe what she had done to my eyebrows and her lack of professionalism. I don't understand how people still go to her and how she stays in business. The place is filthy and smells horrible. She is rude and doesn't listen to what the customer has to say and does whatever she feels like. I don't recommend anyone to go there. read more

I have been going to Diptis for at least the last 5 years and although I was satisfied with the end results, especially for the price, this 'salon' has really gone down hill in the last year. I was willing to put up with this less than hygienic shop because of the prices as long as the younger, somewhat rude, woman did the prep. She would wax lip and eyebrows and then Dipti would come in for the finish. And even with a full house I never waited more than half an hour. This year things are different. Gone are the long lines and although Dipti still has her helpers she has been waxing and threading me. And I don't like it. She is rough, sloppy and my eyebrows have never looked so bad. I kept going back hoping to get one of the other women but Dipti is relentless. So that's it for me. I have tried a few other places but was reluctant to switch just because I tend to be loyal and always hope things will get better but after a year of this I have to say so long. For those who continue to go you should ask that the wax sticks be changed - double dipping is really gross! I often wondered if Dipti changed her glove after she did a bikini or brazilian or even washed her hands. read more

She lost me as a customer. She does ok eyebrows... nothing really out of the ordinary, and shes really fast. But about a year ago, which was my last visit there, she was waxing my eyebrows, and asks me, "do you want a lip wax also?" I didnt really want to get one so i said "no thank you ill pass this time." She DEFINITELY heard me, hence shes hovering right over my face doing my brows, but the next thing i know is i feel hot wax on my lip as she says, "oh you need it." I was literally so shocked and not in the mood to argue and of course she charged me for the lip wax too. Are you kidding me? I was furious she forcefully pretty much stole my money by giving me a service i didn't want. I paid and left and never coming back again. So be careful! Do not ever come here for a wax!!!! I had a Brazilian done and the process was extremely painful which I wouldn't have minded if the results were worth it. The wax was very fast yes, but it's because she pulls out a huge portion of hair at once and results were the poorest of quality. I still have a ton of obvious visible strays and just broken hairs which Im prAying doesn't lead to ingrowns. It doesn't even look like I had a wax done honestly or even resemble what it would after a fresh shave. I also have a ton of bruising on my bikini line. Fastest hands in Chicago when it comes to threading! No one beats Dipti and boy can that woman shape your eyebrows like theres no tomorrow! I been coming here since high school & have never been disappointed. She will tell you straight up to how you should have your eyebrows or if you effed them up, in a nice way though of course haha. Her salon is small, but not uncomfortable, and she has plenty of chairs. The wait time isn't bad despite all the customers, as I said before, she threads like crazy. Besides, you can pass the time by watching the Bollywood movie she constantly has blaring through the television and hum along under your breath like her assistants do. Unless she isnt too busy, you pull a number and wait for your turn. She charges for eyebrows and upper lip threading $8. She used to be waaay cheaper than that, but hey now that she has her own salon, she gotta pay the rent right? And with her expertise, I would say it is well worth the price! If you guys think $7 is cheap for eyebrow threading, check out the many salons on Devon Ave or within the vicinity that usually charge around $4 or $5 and you can get multiple things done (haircuts, dye, facials, etc) at the same time! I went to Dipti's and was not happy with her at all! Considering I pay $7 at my current salon which is in a much busier area, I get excellent service, they listen, and they are fast! Dipti was on her phone the entire time and she chopped off half my brow and then denied doing it when it was quite visible even to the two employees working for her. Best eyebrow threader in Chicago, look no where else. I've followed Dipti throughout her locations and am happy that she still is around after 10+ years. She's nice and sweet and always remember me. Eyebrow threading is about $7 plus tip and plenty of street parking. I usually go on a weeknight as weekends can be pretty rough. I've heard and have experienced the long lines. The interior is simple, and it's an open setting which everyone sees you get your eyebrows, facial waxing. She does have a back closed room for bikini or any other areas. I went to Dipt's for a few years, why not-I lived in the neighborhood. Was always ok, NEVER stellar. She is ALWAYS on the phone. Translate-not really listening to you when you describe what you want. She pretends, nods her head yes and then goes ahead and does what she wants anyway. Sometimes what you want. I have actually had a better experience with her two associates. The one that just got married recently-her husband is still overseas I believe? She actually listens and makes suggestions. I don't appreciate the fact that they speak another language right over your face as you are in the chair. I speak 2 languages myself and would never be so rude as to speak "over " someone as I am performing a service such as this. I have to say I love the Bollywood movies, though! I have recently moved and found a FANTASTIC woman at We care Hair. on Kimball and lawrence. HEr name is Aisha or Asia-I have heard it pronounced both ways. I can't say anything about the eyebrows, but DO NOT go here for waxing. The waxing process was so painful! She did not care about my comfort at all. They also burnt my skin around my underarms. I have been getting my underarms waxed for years now and have been to many different places, and this has never happened to me. The skin around the hair line is literally burnt - its chaffing and red, and now that it's healing, it's so itchy. Dont get a wax here! read more

Even though she does each client at lightning speed, Dipti is always incredibly warm and friendly and manages to remember you even if you haven't been to her salon in a year. I went Saturday to get my cheeks waxed, b4 I sat in the chair I distinctly asked her would I break out, or how high was the probability..she assured me the waxed she uses is very gentle..needless 2 say I basically begin 2 break out immediately..her employee that actually performed the waxing told me 2 keep apply alcohol..It didnt work..I now have white heads all over my cheeks & jaw bones..I just googled waxing/face/whiteheads & sure enough this is common..4 her 2 do this as a job daily & not tell me or know that white heads r common after facial waxing is unexceptable..I made a dermatology appt w/ Dr Lio in wicker park 1 of the best in the business, 2 bad I have 2 wait until 9-6..hopefully he prescribes retinin A & it leaves quickly.. read more

I read all the great yelp reviews and decided to try to place. I needed a bikini was so walked in and they sent me to room 1. The room was dirty and disgusting (which should have made me walk out but I stuck it out). There were windows between the different rooms covered in blinds but the blinds were slightly broken so I could totally see into the next room! I waited a few minutes then a lady came in and did the wax in about a minute. It was, by far, the most PAINFUL wax I've ever had - an hour later and i'm still in pain (and I've had tons of bikini waxes before). Afterwards she didn't even clean the wax off, she just covered the area in baby powder then walked out so now my downstairs looks like casper the ghost visited... If that wasn't enough, she double dipped and when I looked at the uncovered wax when I was done, it was so dirty! I will most definitely NEVER return here. read more
