The service was good was great and earned their gratuity. The place was very crowded and it was good that we had a reservation. They only take reservations for groups of eight or more. Our table was near the kitchen and hallway by the restrooms, and my chair was bumped a few times. There was a table behind that was kinda close, which narrowed the path. I recently visited this place, and while the food was fine and the margaritas were decent, I won't be returning. The reason? There is a huge photo of Trump with the offensive caption, "Grab them by the dirty taco." This isn't a "joke" or even smart or witty--it's just stupid and disgusting. Regardless of your political views, it's inappropriate and distasteful, especially in a family-friendly setting. It's one thing to express opinions, but it's another to make such a vulgar, disrespectful statement. Honestly, I was shocked and if I saw it before sitting down and ordering I would have walked out. Omg if you haven't been to Dirty Taco you have to go!! Not only were the margaritas delicious, the food was outstanding. I got a brussels sprouts taco, impossible taco, and lobster taco. It would be hard to say which one was more delicious than the other. Jim got a Cuban taco, a blue taco ( traditional taco in a blue corn shell, and the proceeds go to assist the family of a local policeman who lost his life), and a lobster taco. He said his were all delicious as well and in fact, he finishes his whole meal but he finished every one of them. Our waiter, Alex, was phenomenal. He was fun and upbeat and friendly. This is their biggest location yet and there was still over an hour wait on a Saturday night but worth the wait. My friend and I split the Asian nachos to start which are just oozing in flavor between the peanut sauce and the queso and piled high with toppings. I got a blackberry walnut margarita-nothing special just pure sugar. For entree I went with the birria quesadilla and the street fries. I could not stop eating the fries they were so darn good. I brought friends who were visiting from out of town. We were seated in the back room, and from the moment we sat down, Nolan made us feel so welcome. He took the time to walk us through the entire menu, explaining everything and answering all our questions. Everything came out quickly and was perfectly timed. The dumplings were amazing, and Nolan recommended the buffalo shrimp taco since they had just brought it back on the menu--it was a hit with everyone. Went on a Friday night with no reservations we knew there was going to be a wait as expected. Host told us it would be a 45 minute wait for four guests, not a problem at all! We waited in the car for over an hour with no text message saying our table was ready. We wait another 20 minutes in the waiting area and go up to the other host (there were 3) and he tells us there are 3 parties ahead of us, we were parked in the front so we saw everyone who came in and out and not only did we wait over an hour and a half at this point just to sit down, but there were MULTIPLE parties who came in after us and had to wait too, go in BEFORE us. So at this point we tell the host that makes absolutely no sense and we're starving so we're leaving. We went down to Rockefellers down the road , got drinks and food immediately and had a great time. Don't waste your time with Dirty taco, tacos really aren't even good only the apps are. It's the environment people go there for. Dirty Taco for right now I'm going to give you a 4 because the waitress we had made up for the issues we had on Saturday night. So the fella and I decided to go for tacos. We had heard some good things and was told in order to get in we needed to put our name and phone number on the list. So what did I do? Stopped by put my name and my number down with the hostess. She tells me about an hour to hour and 15 minute wait. No biggie. Go to fella's with timer set on phone and ringer on. Head back over there to sit in parking lot in car and wait for the call. Alas after an hour and 10 minutes go by and my fella says "let's go and see where we are at." So we walk up and here comes snafu number 1. I walk up and first the two hostesses appear preoccupied until one greets me with asking me my name and my number. I tell her "no no I put my number down around 7p and we're just waiting to see where we are at for our table." To make a long story short she begins to argue with me telling me that they called and no one answered. I look at my call log and coincidentally no missed call from them so I snapped back because I was annoyed she copped an immediate attitude with me and she was swearing up and down that they called. My retort was "I have neither a voicemail or missed call from you." to which I got a lousy reply of "we don't leave voicemails." Which in my opinion is ridiculous because people miss calls all the time and parts of Nesconset/Smithtown/Hauppauge are perpetual dead zones. I was not in a dead zone because I know I have plenty of service to and from fella's house. Another worker jumped in and said we can seat you now. I asked to see my number on the list and I was denied. Great so now we're seated. Our waitress Kim immediately greets us and offers to put our drink order in. We were pretty much ready so we ordered our drinks and food right away. Incoming 2nd snafu. 2nd snafu was we ordered chips and salsa. When I tell you that I can count on one hand the amount of times my guy has cried this was one of those times. The salsa was so damn hot he wound up drinking part of my margarita because we had no water on the table. His eyes were tearing hard and his nose was running and his face bright red. She came back brought water and we told her to that we wouldn't be eating the chips and salsa and we'll just take another order of the potstickers. Dinner comes... fella and I want a second marg he gets his I don't get mine. Tacos were decent. I enjoyed the birria and ahi tuna I got. Then the 3rd and 4th snafu comes along. 3rd our waitress realizes as she drops the check she never got me my 2nd. I tell her "no biggie don't want it now." The 4th snafu was we were promised the deadly salsa and chips would be off the bill and it wasn't so I had to bring that to her attention. Will we back? Yeah eventually when the crowds decide to die off a little but for now we're going to steer clear of there. The waiter was very enthusiastic and everyone was very attentive. The food was quite nicely prepared and presented. It really was delicious. Many offerings are an Asian fusion, and I'm more traditional, but I found plenty to enjoy. Must have the guac. The drinks were also very good. There are many bartenders so I understand how some say the potency can be slightly different with each round. The ambiance was cool. They meld the restaurant theme into the pics. Amazing! We visited Dirty Taco for my birthday this past Sunday and we're blown away! The place is huge, the service was friendly, & the food was excellent! My husband & I had the Birria taco (favorite), southern fried taco, chimmicuri taco, & the short rib taco. All were so different but each outstanding. My daughter had the kids cheese quesadilla. We also shared the street fries and plantains- also excellent. My husband loved his classic Margarita.
