They didn't have the tires they'd quoted me on over the phone, so one of the employees sold us the next highest brand for the lower price of the ones I was quoted on. Generally, I've had good experiences with Discount Tire. Unfortunately, this most recent experience has left me feeling like they don't want my business. A month ago I ordered some tires for my car on their website to be shipped to their location nearest to me (this Ben White location). I received a confirmation e-mail stating that my order had been received and that I would receive either a call or e-mail from the store to schedule the installation. Three weeks passed and I hadn't heard from anyone, so last week I called the store directly. The employee I spoke to said that he didn't have any record of the order, and they didn't have the tires. He looked up the tire I was ordering and said there were only a few stores in Texas that carried them. He said he would see how soon he could get them and call me right back. Bought 2 new tires in December and my Service Tire Sensor light came on as soon as the tires were installed. I was told the light would go off eventually. This may be the best-run business in Austin. I made an appointment for flat repair at 2:30pm today, and was out the door with a fully repaired tire by 3:00pm. It was fairly busy, but David was still very personable when checking me in and taking a look at the tire, and Erik did a great job finding the nail that I couldn't even see, repairing the tire, and getting me back on the road at ludicrous speed. Even winched my spare back up under the truck, which a lot of places don't take the time to do. The grand total for this awesome and speedy service: $0.00. I've done business with multiple Discount Tire stores in 3 different states, but this one tops all of them. Jonathan, a newbie from South Padre Island, gave incredible customer service. Excellent customer service! I had my vehicle serviced at the car dealership and they pointed out a screw in my back tire. Due to the location they said they could not patch it and I needed a new tire. I took my car to Discount Tire hoping for a good deal on a new tire. They were slammed, but I observed that every employee was working and hustling trying to take care of the concerns of every patron. Every service member was exceptionally kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. After all was said and done, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a new tire was not needed after all, and they patched and balanced my tire for FREE! read more

The guys that worked here were rude and did a horrible job. After being told it would only take 1 hour before our tires replaced, we waiting for about 30minutes before they actually got to our car. The were so unprofessional. They scratched my rims while replacing all 4 wheels and I went back the following day to complain and the assistant manager told me that it was curb rashes from us driving it. After 10 minutes in their office the assistant manager comes out and tells us to go to their "local competitor", firestone and see what they had to say about it. They obviously called them ahead of time to told them what to say. Anyways, I would watch work on your vehicle if you decide to go there. read more

Never had an issue with the quality of the product or service here. They also offer a great tire care plan that comes with free rotation and balancing, and a pretty good warranty. They can be pretty pricey but I think that is the nature of the tire market right now. Only issues I have ever had are having to wait for a long time even though I had an appointment. read more

So today I was about to head to Kansas for a funeral and decided to change my tires. I went to Discount Tires and replaced 3 tires that needed to be replaced. I asked them if I was now safe to drive the 9 hours that I was about to drive from Austin to Kansas. They assured me that I was. It must be noted that I bought the best tires that I possibly could for my vehicle. So I went home to finish putting all my things in. I noticed that my passenger back tire was flat (I only noticed one, at the time). I decided to drive to Discount Tire ( 1411 W. Ben White Austin, TX). I was about to get on the expressway when I lost control of my car! I managed to control it and pull over. I called Discount Tire and they came to check my tires out. Took them off and took them back to the shop. At this point I've already wasted all my day worth of driving to the Funeral that I needed to go to. They bring back the tires and tell me that they forgot to seal them!!!! Thus, my tires went flat! My bran new tires! I drive back to Discount Tire and the manager Tim Hudson, tells me that they can only refund me $200 (and some) for the inconvenience! The inconvenience?! Are you kidding me?! I lost control of my car because my two brand new back tires went flat! He said that the most he could do was then refund me $440 and that was him being GENEROUS! He said that they are human and it was a mistake! I reiterated that this could've cost me my life or someone else's life because I LOST CONTROL! He said that it "could've" but it didn't, so the only thing I lost was time. I expressed feeling worried for the customers before and after me and their safety. Had another mistake occurred? Could he ensure me that they would call them to check how they're tires were? He said that that was way too many customers. This is completely unacceptable! While I was waiting for my vehicle to get inspected, another lady came in that they had forgotten to put her cap back on, they gave it to her, apologized and sent her on her way. Who knows what other mistakes they have done today. Please share this. The way that Discount Tire minimized their mistake is completely unacceptable. Update- Tim Hudson then decided that he was not going to give me a refund and that I could call corporate for a refund. Absolutely terrible service. The people who work there should try taking their own vehicles in. See how they like waiting while assistants answer phone calls. Why don't they hire someone just to answer calls and free up the others for customers. Also appointments and non appointments. One line! Love the business model bought several tires here , but based on the waits and no parking it's probably a good time to consider facility expansion. There isn't enough real estate at this particular location to accommodate all of the customers. Long wait times, overworked staff. I haven't been blown away by a company in a long time. But wow oh wow, I can't say enough about DT. I had a huge nail in my tire, and was bracing myself mentally, to have to buy a new tire for a large truck. Before arriving I was quoted $125 installed and out the door. I arrive, and they immediately tell me they can patch it, I don't need a new tire.. and all of this was going to be FREE. I nearly passed out, because nothing is free anymore. There was absolutely no up selling. They could've tried to sell me a new tire, but not one sales pitch was given. I was ecstatic! They patched up my tire and I was out of there in 35 minutes. Kudos to whoever owns DT, because they offer outstanding service. They also do FREE air tire fills-ups. Doesn't even need to be a tire purchased from DT. I've been there twice for free fill ups, and again there has never been any up selling. The guys that work there are so friendly, and not intimidating to women. A+++ read more

I know its "discount" tire, but still..... they replaced all four tires, but when I hit the road my car shimmied.... (out of balance problem).... I took it back and told them what was wrong... they replaced one "bad tire".... then everything was working fine.... but that makes me ask...why put a "BAD" tire on a customer's car???? If you test the tire you should of known it was out of balance and taken it OFF MY CAR, AND REPLACED IT BEFORE YOU GIVE IT BACK TO THE CUSTOMER, NOT AFTER..... I don't usually get excited about franchises or even tire shops but these guys deliver when it comes to customer service and wheel knowledge. In a city full of apathetic, slackers and wannabe rockers, good ol fashioned work ethic is hard to come by. In the process of shopping for the right wheels and tires for my '73 Mustang, i visited several 'local' shops that didn't come close to the level of service i got with Discount Tire. Shame on you Austin! I was even willing to pay a higher price shopping locally but i wouldn't have done it any other way. I got the best price, far superior professionalism, and friendly guys to chat about cars with. All the other guys were too busy to even do research on what i wanted. Chad, was very helpful and returned all my calls with prices and lead time. Even when i was a pain to deal with and had many questions. Discount Tire's website is awesome which makes them have a real advantage over other tire places. I was able to pick out my tires online the night before, check which location had them in stock and place my order in advance. This made the overall experience hassle free and extra convenient. The next day I called ahead to confirm and was told all my info checked out and I was all set to go. I drove up to Ben White and was greeted by an army of staff. I bought my tires right after milk day and had a horrible wait but thought it was due to the 3 day weekend. No, that's how it always is. One tire got a nail in it and needed repair. I wanted the tire offto drop off and come back ( I had removed the tire and had spare on) , it took me 45 minutes just to wait in the line so that I could get my tire fixed and another hour after that for the repair, There are appointments but they are only good for service or buying tires. They aren't available last minute when you need a repair. I am done with discount tire after this set of tires! I know sometimes you have to wait but at least other places open on sundays so mondays don't have thse crazy wait times!!! 3 stars bc the people that work there are super nice and it's not their fault the management can't find a better way than to have people wait in line for 45 minutes just to drop off a car ( or tire). read more

Terrible service. I went there because I had a flat tire caused by a nail and was advised by my towing company to go there and check if it could be patched up since the tire was new and the nail was tiny and apparently located in a spot easy to fix. When I got there I was told they would check if that was possible, and if not I would have to replace the tire. What was explained to me was that in case it was not possible to change the tire they would go over the price with me BEFORE doing any work. It turned out they mentioned they couldn't fix the tire (of course they would) and I would have to replace it. I asked one of the technicians how much it would cost and he simply replied with an ' I have no idea'. Again I sat down in the waiting room expecting someone would call me to go over the price. But when they did call me they had replaced the tire without my consent on the service. I didn't want to make a scene but I was extremely bothered by it. I paid and left. What a great experience! Discount Tire never disappoints and this location is no exception. I called right at 8 AM and talked to Michael who was extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable when I asked questions. When I arrived I was promptly greeted by another person, (Anthony maybe?), before I even got in the door who immediately helped me. They then proceeded to explain my purchase to me so I understand everything and I was in and out with 2 new tires in less than 30 minutes. These guys make purchasing tires which is typically not a great experience something pain free and EASY! Most importantly they do not try to upsell me something I do not need but do offer ways to make sure I'm getting the best value for what I'm paying which is appreciated and I do not mind spending a bit more if it is going to be worth it. Their service and willingness to help is much appreciated and I can't say enough good things. I feel the service at this location is unreliable, unprofessional and sub par compared to EVERY other discount tire I have ever been to. I never got a call from the store to update me on my car until I got the "top level" David on the phone. My wheel was ordered for "next day" on Friday 5/12/17 but didn't arrive till Wednesday 5/17/17. My wheel was "accidentally" sent to El Paso and they had NO idea why. When I dropped off my car the employee wouldn't even touch my key because I didn't feel well claiming to be a "germ a phobe". He had me drop my key in a pouch. I'm sorry but does he not realize everything that wheels and tires run over? When I came to get my car I got no apology and the young man that gave me back my car could barely look me in the eye. Also if I never hear "We'll be with you in a minute" again it will be too soon! I went to this Discount tire because it is close to work. Yesterday I woke up to a flat tire. I was bummed. Car2Go got me to work and after work I got home, put the spare on and slowly rolled up to Discount Tire with only 20 minutes until they closed. They took a look at my flat tire and said they'd get it taken care of. In the process of checking my milage, stupid me, I locked my keys in my car. At this point I realized I was not going to be able to get my car fixed that night and I was bummed. The service rep was really understanding and was willing to go out of his way, above and beyond even, to make sure my car was back on the road that night with 4 normal wheels. I was able to Car2Go back home and get a spare key and return by 6:02 (after closing). The team there still got my tire replaced and even aired up the other tires. Big ups and props to the men at the Ben White Discount Tire! Special big ups to Andrew! Thanks to them I was not late to rehearsal that night, didn't have to miss a Christmas party, was not late for work the next day, and I didn't have to cancel a date for the next night.
