I've been getting my tires at Discount Tire for a few years now, and this particular location really has it together. I've been here a few times for tire rotations and also recently I had a tire losing air. I took it in and they fixed it for free since I had originally bought the tire at DTS. (It had a nail in it, problem solved!). They are friendly, efficient and accurate in the amount of time the wait will be. Great work! read more

I had an appt. It took an hour and a half for a simple rotation. The whole store cleared. My car still not ready. Unacceptable.

I came in the morning at 1130 am and was told by senior assistant manager Jim B that I needed two front tires replaced and a price was quoted I agreed to. The car would not be ready until 330pm and I had to work and could not wait that long. I told him I would bring the car back by 4 pm and he assured me it would take an hour to fix the car. As he suggested , I called the number he gave me to let him know I was bringing my car over by 345 but no one ever answered the phone for 20 minutes . Once there, I was told it would be ready by the end of the day which meant two hours and 15 minutes. Poor management or poor organization, I am not sure which one is the problem but having to leave by 530, I was told they could not do it. I left having been a client there for many years and having recommended quite a few people. It's very disappointing and now am left with trying to find a place that will allow working people to get tires changed and where your word mean something. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I just bought top of the line Michelin tires at the Raleigh store two days ago. I was in Chapel Hill for an appointment and about a dozen cars were pulled over on the side of the road before my exit. Evidently someone threw nails on the highway. Right before I saw all the cars pulled over, my tire light came on. And of course we're in the middle of a tropical storm with sideways rain. I called the closest discount tire which was in Durham. The guy on the phone was super friendly and told me to bring it on over and we'll check it out for you. When I got there he said "I have 14 cars ahead of you so it will be around 3:30pm before I can look at it. REALLY? You couldn't have mentioned that when I called? You made it sound like you were going to quickly check them!! All I needed was a visual inspection AND to get some caps put on the tires since they were never put on my $1300 tires. He was very nice on the phone, but not so much in person. If you need help don't go to this store. read more

I had a very interesting experience at Discount Tire recently and although this might be a bit of a narrative, please take my account into consideration if you're planning on making a big purchase there. I set up an appointment by phone (wise move!) and brought my car in after a recommendation from a friend. Discount Tire claims to have the lowest tires in the area, and will price match if you can find something lower. Two out of my four tires needed replacement ASAP while the others were right above the mid to minimum tread ware. After some negotiation, we came to a deal for four new Bridgestone tires, a discount for the back two tires, at $475. Boy, tires are pricey! And I decided I would call around while I waited to make SURE I really was receiving the best deal, as the customer representative promised me I was. I made a call to CrossRoad Fords in Cary (where I have gotten service done in the past) and they IMMEDIATELY quoted me a much lower price ($432 plus a $70 mail in rebate that Bridgestone was currently offering me). Oh boy, there's nothing I hate more then the feeling of being taken advantage of. Back to the counter I went with the new quote and after MUCH back and forth, including the manager telling me the other company wasn't offering all the "bells and whistles" they were. At this point, I was ready to walk out. At this point, Discount Tire changed their tactic with me, and I felt truly tried to keep me as a customer. They gave me a new price, $388.00 plus a $50 mail in rebate, for the exact same service they had previously quoted me (saving me a total of $137 from the original quote). In addition, it turned out that the four Bridgestone tires with a 70,000 mile warranty were out of stock. They ended up giving my four new Michelin tires that include a 90,000 mile warranty for the same price. Overall, I walked away from my experience at Discount Tire feeling like I received a great deal, but it took a lot of work on my part. It is nice to know that they do tire rotations for free and encourage you to take care of your tires as well. If you feel like Discount Tire is a good choice for your car, I highly recommend dealing with them on the phone prior to bringing your car in. Once you're in the shop, it's much harder to negotiate. The entire experience took me about two hours, which isn't horrible considering everything. However, this location unfortunately doesn't have any wifi access, so bring a book if you think it's going to be a while! read more

First visit to this location, to buy tires which I haven't done in nearly 5 years and, wow, something is different about the experience at this place! Discount was ready when I arrived (no wait AT ALL), the price was exactly as quoted by phone....in fact, they had the quoted tires AND the "better" ones I really wanted at the same price, the tires were exactly as promised, and I was outta there in about 35 minutes with four 20" tires, mounted and cleaned. The lobby and waiting areas were clean; the coffee was good; the sales staff were friendly and courteous. I'm a fan! read more

They offered the best deal on 4 new tires I could find in Durham, anywhere. On top of that, the staff were friendly, I mean really friendly, to the point I was confused, at first. Once I got over the shock of how helpful they were, I was able to settle on a set of tires, and was out the door in under the time quoted. That was around July. Yesterday, I took in a tire from my wife's car that had picked up a nail, and was told that IF it were reparable, they would do it for free. It was, they did. Awesome. So, last night, I set up an appointment on their website to bring my car in, today, to get the tires rotated and balanced. It was quick, and it was free. These guys are great, they stick to their quotes, whether on price or time, and actually treat you like a person. I'll be back for any tire service needs. read more

I arrived at the shop at 10am for my appointment, but after quietly waiting, it's now 1045am and NO work is being done on car!?! Wtf?!? When I expressed my disappointment, the "assistant mgr" Matt starts to "explain" this and that about how I am the next car up?!? What? What was the point of making an appointment? This place is really awesome. I get all my tires and rotations done here. I had been procrastinating on getting two new badly needed new tires. It's always smart to make an appointment when you can. And luckily this time, I saw that you can make an appointment online, on their website! Yippee!!! Sometimes when you pull up, there are dudes right there when you step out of your car, but if it's busy, you probably need to walk inside. I was told it would probably take 35-45 minutes for my tires to be done. I was prepared to wait - brought a book... plus they have coffee and water in their waiting area (or if the weather's not bad, you can walk to Target or Ross). Luckily, I was only waiting about 10-15 minutes when they called me name! He even apologized for giving an incorrect wait time... no need for apology, it's a delightful error! read more

I love this place. I've purchased a set of tires here multiple times over the years and consistently it's been a great experience. That was the case again this morning. I go to their website, review their inventory (in-stock versus arrive in 3-5 days), order what I want, and make an appointment for days later. Competitive prices, and I appreciate learning about various tires online plus reading reviews. You don't pre-pay online, rather you pay once tires have been installed. When I arrive, my set of tires is waiting on me, and they have me in and out quickly. Friendly competent service. I've never dropped in without an appointment needing to buy something on the spot, so I can't speak to that scenario. read more

I am not lying. This is a great place! A day before yesterday I got a screw bolt on one of my tires and I went the the Precision Auto Tune near my house. They said it can't be fixable; they didn't even do the lick test. Including alignment they were trying to charge about $400.00. They didn't have the tire so I couldn't get the service. I wanted to get faster service so I tried Discount Tire in Durham which is near my office today and they tested it and told me it can be fixable. And they charged me nothing. I bought my tires about 2 years ago from a Discount Tire in Raleigh and had great service there! I bought the warranty as well, on my father's advice seeing as he has been in the car business 20+ years, and boy am I glad I did! Today, I ended up with two flat tires in the pouring rain. Needless to say, I was upset and definitely wasn't ready to fork over a couple of hundred dollars for two new tires. Then I remembered I had bought the warranty on my tires. Living in Durham now, I came to this Discount Tire and had AMAZING service! They replaced both of my tires free of charge, no questions asked. All I had to pay for was a new warranty on my new tires, which was no problem, around $30. Staff was super great, what a refreshing customer service experience. I've got to stop to take the time to say thank you. A perfect 5star service I received today at Discount tires. Everything from the initial phone call to the tech handing me my keys from completion was top notch. This was my first time at discount tires. Ray Riley from the raleigh store took the time to refer me to a closer location to where I was. I was in traffic trying to make it to Raleigh with 30 minutes left until they closed. Ray took it upon himself to assist me in finding a location that was literally 10 minutes away from me. I made it in time before the shop closed. This location in Durham is ran by Paul and Q. These guys are awesome as well. Q took the time to evaluate my tire repair and Paul was extra courteous on the phone reassuring me they would stay open to wait for my arrival. I wanted to take time to commend the team at Discount Tire in Durham, NC. I came in this morning with what I thought was a leaking tire, and they were extremely professional and helpful. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot I was taken care of. The front staff at the desks were very polite, helpful and gave me not only estimates for new tires, but a breakdown of all my options. This may sound standard for repair shops, but in my experience, it is hard to come by such helpful people. Also, I would like to point out that the mechanic who checked out my car, J.D., was very nice. He showed me details about my tires and helped me understand what tests they were running and what I needed to look out for. He was more than happy to help me check all my tires for punctures and leaks, while helping me out by replacing a stem, all free of charge. I truly felt like they were looking out for my best interest and not just trying to sell a service. They will absolutely be getting my busienss in the future! Then when it was time to replace a pair of tires, they price-matched a better deal I found on tirerack.com for the tires, AND provided a discount since the tires I bought from them had a warranty for higher mileage. Best part - I was in and out within 40 minutes and made it to work on time. On top of the good deal and fast service, they are super knowledgeable, thorough, and NICE. I've bought tire sets for a few different cars now for myself and my wife's car and we've both enjoyed our experiences here. The sales people and technicians here are very friendly and helpful when it comes to finding what tire best suits your car and for your budget. It can be a little busy so make sure to schedule an appointment if possible and do not go close to any holidays that are busy road travel ones. They will even refill your tires for free which is very handy if you've got a tire with a small leak but one that doesn't need to be fixed at that exact moment. I just got a new set of back tires from Discount Tires and they had me in and out of there in under 90 minutes. Today I bought a set of Continental tires for my VW. I made an appointment online via their website. The reason they are getting dinged a star as they haven't touched my car even though I got here 15 minutes prior to my appointment and promised it would be ready in 45 minutes. WOW, AMAZING customer service! I went here to take care of a tire leak. I wasn't sure if it could be patched or if my tire needed to be replaced, and they were extremely helpful throughout the entire process, explaining the situation in which they could patch the leak vs. the case where I would need a new tire. It turns out my leak was repairable, and they did the repair AT NO COST! It wasn't even a tire I had bought from them--this was my first time here, and my entire service was free. On top of their helpfulness, they were also EXTREMELY honest, and at no point tried to upsell something they knew I didn't need. When discussing the possibility of needing to replace my tire, they asked me if I would prefer a new tire or a used tire, so I asked what they'd recommend. They told me they'd recommend a used tire in similar condition to the corresponding tire on the opposite side, which would save me about $40. I also mentioned that I thought I might need my front tires changed (the leaky tire was in the rear), but they checked and told me they still had a few months left in them. They could have easily played on my ignorance and changed my front tires and suggested a new tire rather than a used one to replace the leak, but they didn't. I highly recommend this Discount Tire location! Lucas and the rest of the team were incredibly helpful and patient. I had an incredibly tight schedule, but needed the tire changed soon and, understandably, they also had a very tight schedule. James was able to order my tire overnight so it arrived in less than 24 hours. Then, Lucas was able to call as soon as the tire came in to the shop and arrange for my tire change to be squeezed in. James and Lucas were very patient, as they received several calls from me, and they made it seem that they actually wanted to help. When I came in, Alex was very friendly and helped me check in smoothly. The team in the shop worked incredibly efficiently and did very high quality work.
