Jacob (Jake) was absolutely amazing! I just moved to Louisville from Austin, TX. When I landed at the airport my BMW had a flat tire. AAA towed me to Discount Tire which was closed. I called first thing in the morning and Jake re-assured me I didn't have to worry & they would be able to take care of me. When I arrived Jake was very professional and calming. He searched my car for the tire lock key & when one wasn't found he was able to go back & work with the Mechanics to determine if Discount tire had one for my BMW. Even BMW sent me the wrong lock key when I proactively ordered one so I would have my own for the car. Jake was able to use critical thinking (I was lacking in the moment) to let me know we could use the key I purchased by putting on the kit provided by BMW. I could go on & on about how thorough Jake was to make sure I was back on the road quickly. This included buying the same BMW tires I had through Discount tire sources. He even suggested and taught me about tire flats to ensure if this happened again, I could drive on the new tires he ordered for me. He also got me a spare which I didn't have because BMW cars don't come with them when purchased. I didn't know that until I had the flat. I was a mess. Getting new tires can be kind of a hassle. Unless you know specifically what you need you have shop around and compare prices and service, maybe look for a way to get a good deal. My wife's care needed new tires and I did more than my fair share shopping around and bargain hunting, but kept coming back around to Discount Tires. Not only are they convenient (maybe 2 miles from home), but had some of the most consistent number of reviews with high marks. Discount Tire does a great job of making it easy to get tires. Their website does all the heavy lifting. If you know you the size you're looking for, that's half the battle. If you're shopping using tire size they'll also cross-reference the year/make/model of the car so they know you're purchasing the right thing. Fill out a little more information, set your appointment time, pay in advance, and that's it. You'll get a text confirmation that makes it easy to confirm your appointment and track your progress! What's really neat is that you'll get another text the day of your appointment to confirm (once again) your time. You can let them know when you're on your way, and then it'll keep you informed of how long it'll take before your car is done. I love companies that embrace technology as a means to make a better customer experience. In our case it said our wait time was about 45 minutes, meaning it'd be done at 2pm, which gave us enough time to get lunch. We grabbed a quick lunch and were going to make another quick stop on our way back to Discount Tire when I got a text that the car was ready. About 35 minutes later. TEN minutes faster than their estimate! Awesome! Kirk was the employee that helped us out (my wife arrived before I did) got the (ahem) wheels in motion (did you see what I did there? :) ) and was a pleasant person to deal with. All told, we spent less than 5 minutes in his presence. The customer waiting area (that we didn't use) was rather spacious and kept very clean. The entirety of the welcome/customer service area was very nicely maintained. This tire experience was 100% amazingly awesome and easy. Very professional, they lifted the camper by the frame (not the axle tubes as they bend) and had me in and out quickly. This location of Discount Tire is closest to whet I live and over the years I have had great service from them. Recently it seems (maybe due to company policy) that they look for any reason NOT to provide tire service. Brought 4 perfectly good repaired (professionally patched inside and recent DOT dating) tires to them for mounting and balancing. We were refused service because they said they were repaired improperly (patched AND plugged). I will be going elsewhere for tire service in the future, even if I have to travel a good distance for service. Their store in Elizabethtown is EXCELLENT!! read more

Recently, a screw got lodged in my tire along the tread, so I looked online for places to get it patched. I called several places to see what they charged. Some places charged $25 and others charged $50! When I called Discount Tire, I was thrilled to hear they did not charge to patch a tire and went immediately! I soon found out why they do not charge for something so small - because now that they pulled you in with a free tire patch, they will then up sell you into a new tire! Apparently the screw in my tire was in a section of the tire where a patch would not work, so the only solution would be a new tire. The guy said that any tire place would tell me the exact same thing and assured me he would get me the best deal possible for the replacement. The cost of a new tire would be $275. After leaving there, I decided to get a second opinion. I went down the road to another place, expecting to hear the same thing. However, the explanation I got there was very different. The man said that Discount Tire was wrong because the sidewall (the area of the tire next to the wheel) was the area that could not be patched and since the screw was along the tread, a patch would be fine. In the end, all I had to pay was $25 for a patch somewhere else, while it would have been $275 at Discount Tire. You can bet I am never going there again! In general, pretty happy with their generic service (tire nail fix, rotation etc). However, my recent experience is a little negative. I have changed 6 tires with them in 2021 (My previous tires last about 4~6 years). Didn't realize the issue until I start driving on the highway .. the car wobbles when I reach 60~70 mph. Bring the cars in 3 times for rebalancing. Regrettably; the issue doesn't goes away. Finally give up and go to the dealership to rebalance them and the wobbling issue is now gone. Yes, I got a partial refund of the premature wearing; but I'm still charged for the full amount for the installation & warranty services (apprx 100++). read more

I've been in and out in a half hour and waited an hour and a half on the busy days. Comfy chairs in the waiting area along with magazines, free coffee and cold water bottles for your liking. The technician took my lug nuts off with a mini sledge hammer , then told me that they needed to be replaced because they were "swollen"?!? And that she had to DRIVE on the incorrect standard sized impact socket with a mini sledge?!! wtf? .She destroyed all 24? and bent one of my wheels which they are denying. Then when asked if they had been road forced balanced like I requested the manager responded yes and I asked him to prove it, he then spent 45 minutes rebalancing them after they were READY to go. Driving down the road and my low tire light came on. UGH, it's never convenient to have car issues. I pulled into a Ken Towery on Bardstown Road as soon as it came on and asked them to check my tire. They responded that they were too busy and they didn't have anyone to check it. Really?? Great service in the lobby, worked quickly, told me a time that they were pretty close to (only 10 minutes past estimated time, and they were super busy). Very courteous, though I noticed everyone that works there is white (I always notice this). Then, a month later, I start to hear a loud whomp whomp whomp whomp and take it to my mechanic, praying on the way (10 blocks) because the noise just gets worse. Only two nuts are holding the tire I suspected was coming off and only two nuts were holding the other rear tire. I don't know how that happened, but I'm not going there again. Now I'm reading the other yelp reviews, which I should have done beforehand, and by the way, I'm Asian. Don't come here, period. read more
