More than a little alarmed, we pulled into the nearest auto shop and were told that 1) they didn't work on weekends, 2) The cost of repairing my drivers side brakes would be $600 for rotors, pads, and hoses on one side, and 3) they couldn't get to it before closing. As we were in Louisville for such a short time, we needed to get our brakes done fast, and preferably for less. By chance we happened upon Coric, pulled in, and after looking at the car, quoted us at $360 (for both drivers-side and passengers-side), and rather than having to leave it over night, said that he'd have it done in an hour to an hour-and-a-half. He was true to his word, and after about an hour-and-a-half, we had our car back, good to go, for about a quarter of the price and a fraction of the time. Coric really came through for us in a pinch, and we're really thankful for his honesty, skill, and hard work.

I pulled into an O'Reily's (see 5star review for that!) and Jay there recommended me to Carson at Val's, who were open on Sunday. My car made it there Sunday morning. Carson took me in right away and helped diagnose my car for a very reasonable fee, as well as gave me price estimates for the repairs. Due to other work I had recently had done, we decided that the best thing for me was actually to tow back to Indy. Carson gave me some paper work and their assessment results so that I could have some more info for my home garage. This kind of service, especially for an out of state, stressed out, traveller and then they didn't even get the big job -- it's just stellar and SO appreciated. My husband did his homework before buying tires for my vintage car. The tires that had been on the…read morevehicle were close to but not the same size as the original tires. This lead to my speedometer not reading accurately and the tires getting some rub. After determining the correct size my husband decided he really wanted Firestone tires. Our local tire shop doesn't carry Firestone so we opted to try Michel Tires Plus in Louisville. The process went quite smooth. My husband ordered the tires and set an appointment for the following week to have the tires installed and balanced. The business also does an inspection at the same time for brake wear and several other mechanical functions. On the day we dropped the car off the tire shop kept in touch with a slight delay in when the vehicle would be ready. (Only about an hour later than had been originally indicated). We are happy as can be with the new tires and how the car drives. We also were happy with the price and the savings we got by getting their charge card. I would have given the business five stars but they indicated we would be needing a new battery in the near future. Based on that information my husband ordered a battery from an auto shop and then did some checking. It turns out we didn't need a battery at all so my husband had to cancel the battery he had ordered. Although you only need so many tires I can imagine that we would give Michel Tires Plus repeat business.

SMI was able to accommodate us within a few days. The workers here were very quick, professional, and didn't try to get us to spend unnecessary money. Prices seemed extremely reasonable. They have great communication. They have earned our future business, and I look forward to working with them again (although hopefully not soon).

So, now I am a year out from my service done here and my car still runs so...here we go…read more Less than a week after a major, very expensive repair at a different shop, my check engine light came on. Again. Not sure that my car would make it nearly 100 miles back to the problematic shop in question (it would not have), I called the warranty company which supposedly covered the repair to find a place in town to have it looked at and potentially fixed....again. UNFORTUNATELY....the warranty, which I was sold as coverage of the entire engine replacement done at Southside Auto in Lexington, Kentucky (which...you should avoid like the plague! WARNING do not go to Southside Auto in Lex...) didn't actually cover, you know, ENGINES. But they were able to recommend some local shops which I could take my car to. The first one I went to simply cleared the code which caused the engine light to come on....not looking at anything or doing any work. So, less than a day later, when the light came back on...I went to the second shop on the list: Bemudo. Bemudo is a little tricky to find. But, the service provided is worth the finding. A very small operation but, in my experience, dedicated to accurate and honest work and good customer service. I told Uche the whole story so far up to the point of my getting to him. And he was mad on my behalf. Then, after checking out my car, he was even more mad on my behalf and very apologetic about finding out that my car was STILL leaking oil. We discussed our options, his first recommendation was to bring the car back to the original repair shop and make them fix it...but in all honesty, safely getting the car towed back to the other city would probably have cost at least half as much as the coming repair, with no guarantee that the other shop would admit fault and fix it. So we decided to move forward with the repair at Bemudo, and with documentation from Uche, I would try and get some kind of compensation from the other shop. The repair didn't go quickly, but it was also days before Christmas and I was heading out of town for 8 days, so there wasn't a terrible rush. The folks are Bemudo were in reliably constant contact with me about what needed to be done and what it would cost, as well as giving me the information I needed to argue my situation with the other shop. So it has been a little over a year since it all went diggity-down and my car has remained running. The work gets done and it apparently seems to get done well. Uche and any other staff at Bemudo gave me the impression that they cared about me and my situation. I don't want to have to go back to them....but if something were to happen to my automobile, Bemudo would be my first choice of repair shops.
