Everything tasted fresh and high-quality. I also got a free beverage for downloading their app, which was a nice bonus! The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was great. The only drawback was the chips that came as a side--they weren't great and didn't match the quality of the sandwich. I wish there were better side options. I ordered the chicken and biscuits with gravy on the side and the person I wasn't with got the southwest omelette (think that's it, the one with egg whites) and then we ordered the beignets. The chicken tasted great and the gravy def added to it. The biscuit was not good. It's like they forgot to add an ingredient because it crumbled the second I picked it up. You order at the counter. The cashier was helpful in making a decision on food and drink items. It's bright and open. The food here is fresh and good. The beignets are fluffy and sweet. The sauce that comes with it is a little thin. I'd prefer it slightly thicker. There were a lot of veggies in my potatoes and the potatoes were diced. This made them kinda hard. I prefer a thicker cut (cubes) or hash browns. The mimosa is tasty and a good portion. The expresso martini was a bit bitter to me. Definitely would come here again. read more

I had to take a quick trip to Houston and found this awesome spot tucked into a corner of a shopping strip. As you walk up you are greeted with a cute outdoor patio to the left with lots of gorgeous plants and succulents. You place your order at the counter then they give you a number and bring you your order. I got the coffee and brisket tostada and nothing was disappointing! And the perk is that with a Yelp check-in I got a free order of their grit balls! The coffee was brewed to perfection, very smooth and no bitterness like it has been sitting. The tostada was lovely, lots of different textures from the beans, cheese, eggs. I do wish the brisket would have had a bit more fat and flavor but it was still good. The grit balls were delicious! Very unique, light and fluffy which was nice surprise, I was expecting something dense. The service was absolutely amazing. I was greeted, very well tended to, and never ran out of coffee or water. I picked up a slice of the best cherry pie ever yesterday afternoon being that Proud Pie Michigan Cherry Pie. Every single bite was very delicious, fresh, high quality and so well-made. The crumble crust was buttery with brown sugar n slight cinnamon notes holding crisp and gooey softness underneath. The cherries were very good in their right like the crust is in its own. The cherries are real cherries with a soft texture and very captivating fruitiness. They are a little tart and somewhat sweet without being too sour or like those Marachino cherries either. It was like a mini cobbler and love that each bite was full of cherries unlike other pie shops here where you get some fruit with a lot of fake gel filling combined with refrigerator or cheaply crusts. I used to drive all the way to Katy in the Cinco Ranch area a few times a year mainly just for Proud Pie's cherry, peach and chocolate fudge pies. So glad they're close now in Dish Society cafes. Always loved their cherry, peach, chocolate fudge, apple, coconut cream and know I would've loved the wonkaberry one if I had tried it. Hopefully, they come back one day, but 4 / 6 pies still available after Proud Pie closed is awesome news regardless. The pie tasted the same as before and is perfect at room temp imo, bc it's not too runny and not too cold magnifying the flavors in the entire pie. Great, friendly service on this visit. A friend and I were looking into brunch options and decided on Dish Society, which seems to be a chain local to Houston. I also brought my daughter since she has no school. We made it there at around 10:25 am on a Friday and it's tucked in the corner of a small center with shared parking. I say tucked because good thing I was going slowly because the trees by the road blocked it until your last chance to turn in, haha. The good thing is the parking lot seems large enough to have minimal issues with parking. There were scattered tables by the time we got there. You walk in and order first, get a number, and seat yourself. So not quite like your usual assigned waitress/waiter arrangement but we were checked on multiple times while there. There's a bar and they serve a multitude of drinks. They also focus on breakfast, brunch, and lunch offerings from what I could see. My family are allium-free vegetarians and so I focused on one item and asked a few questions and was pleasantly surprised it could be accommodated. I ultimately got: House Omelette with the side of skillet potatoes - omitted the shallots from the omelette as well as the red onions from the potatoes. The omelette was nice! Lightly seasoned and had a good amount of veggies inside. The potatoes were the smallest diced I have ever seen. Rather on the salty side with a little zing from jalapeños but I liked it when I ate them with the omelette. They definitely could have been less salty. And I only found ONE tiny piece of red onion in it! Kids' Nutella French Toast Bites - This was for my daughter and it comes with a drink (boxed juice or organic Horizon milk) and she chose chocolate milk. It's one slice of battered toast that's cut into 4 pieces, drizzled with Nutella, dusted with powdered sugar, and with diced strawberries. My kid ate the strawberries before I could take the photo so now there were more. Plus the side of syrup. My kid ate 2 pieces! Not bad. I ate a piece and it's decent. Not like actual French toast with the custardy interior but as long as my kid likes it, we're good. Orange juice - fresh squeezed, still has a few seeds, no ice and served at room temperature. I really liked it! Perfectly sweet. My friend got the shrimp and grits which she said was good (though she thinks the grits could have more heat) but she wished there were more. Because she was still hungry, she got an order of beignets with the anglaise sauce (because it was too late for breakfast tacos). Oh my. Little light pillows topped with hills of powdered sugar and this delicious sauce that reminded me of a less strong version of the Indonesian Kopiko (coffee candy). Yum! Overall, a pretty good first impression! The place was airy and clean and not very loud. They also have an outside patio area but it's still too warm for me so we stayed in. Had brunch here. Service was really good considering they were packed on a sunday with a 25-30 wait time on food. Everybody loves brunch. They weren't totally packed but pretty busy. The drinks were good. I had a laloma (a blood orange paloma) and a regular paloma, both were tasty. They did have flavored mimosas and flights which I didn't try. But it's offered. My friend had the expression martini and said that was also good. My friend had the chicken sandwich and said that was pretty good. I had the brisket plate and the beignets. Both were very good. We tried Dish Soviety while we were in Houston for my MD Anderson appointments. The place was in a shopping center surrounded by apartment buildings. Parking was a little crowded. Inside was very nice and clean. The staff were very nice and helpful. My husband got the sweet potato stuffed with brisket. He loved it! I ordered the salmon bowl with nori rice. It had avocado, cilantro, and lots of yummy salmon. We also ordered the pretzel rods with queso. The pretzel rod were really good but you only got 4 in the order. We were out of pretzels before finishing the queso. The queso was really good. We got them to go. The food was put in a pretty big bowl. The portions were more than enough. Overall, this is a decent brunch spot. I stopped by on a hot Houston Sunday for brunch with a friend. They are very busy for brunch - we stood in a long line that fortunately moved quickly. I ordered the House Breakfast Tacos while my friend decided on the Brisket and Eggs. I was pleasantly surprised to find a check in offer for a complimentary order of Smoked Gouda Grit Balls. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (and we of course opted for indoor in the Houston heat)! Our food came out quickly and looked great. We tried the smoked Gouda grit balls first and enjoyed them. They have a good mix of the grit and cheesy flavor and had a nice crunchy exterior. They paired well with the sauce. The breakfast tacos were not quite what I expected. I enjoyed the corn tortilla but found them a bit too oily and cheesy for my taste. I probably wouldn't order them again. I visited this location and planned to dine in on 06/29 with a group of 4 but decided to go to a different location after the extremely rude service I received. When we arrived it was rainy and the indoor seating was packed. While waiting in line the party of 2 in front of us saw a table open and walked to the table to reserve it. Seeing someone just had done so when I saw a table big enough for 4 I quickly walked over and sat down to reserve it. Before I could even sit a heavier set older lady approached me coming from behind the bar and asked if I had ordered. I responded no and told her my order was being placed by someone else & I'm just making sure we have somewhere to sit. She responded that it wasn't allowed so I brought up that I had seen someone do it right before me. She then said that even if they did it, it doesn't make it okay so she has to stop me from doing it. I couldn't help but feel a little profiled here as I was being singled out. It's okay if there's a rule but only enforcing that rule to the couple of younger adults was icky feeling. I told her we would take our patronage elsewhere. We went across town to the dish society in memorial & received stellar service. I asked if there was a rule about reserving a table & the ladies said they had never heard of such a thing. We dined there but are not sure we really want to go back to any dish society given the unprofessional attitude we received in West U. For a while now we have raved about the dish society in West U. There's a guy manager there who has been spectacular and we have always appreciated him! It's sad to say that one person can change the entire experience.
