This was my first time but I thought the food was terrible. The grilled chicken tasted like fake chicken, the texture like rubber. I sent it back after 1 bite. I asked for the salmon but it wasn't much better. Drowned in a sauce which ruined it. I felt the sauce was trying to hide the fish. I had the Brussels and grilled veggies, that were unimpressive. Either I hit this place on a bad day or I can't see how it gets 5 stars. Maybe breakfast is their thing? The staff and coffee were great, so I gave it 2 stars. I live in the Houston Heights so hopefully the new one is better. read more

We've been to this restaurant 4 times. The first two times were ok. We asked what the "Gulf Catch Almondine" was and were told Black Drum each and every time. The 3rd time we went, we asked if they were going to find a new place to catch something other than Black Drum. The waiter said the menu was changing in May. We went last Friday and we had the exact same menu. Usually very very slow service, especially with drinks from the bar. Love the area, concept, and some parts of menu. Please work on getting drinks to tables faster. read more

Well the food quality is great but the selection is poor. You can o let go there so many times. For breakfast that is. The waiters well more like messengers they just drop your food off and you never see them again. Ok the prices are high based on the device you get. But the food is fresh. The check took a very long time to get and the ventilation in the place is not very good in the place in the back which makes it a bit uncomfortable to eat. If there were fans in the back it would be a lot better. The manager going around and asking if the food is good is nice. The food is actually outstanding but I just don't like sweating though meals. Heard a lot about this place and was excited to try because the farm-to-table/fresh food concept is not very popular in Katy. But this place let me down for breakfast. I got the shrimp and grits for about $16. Maybe worth $6. Food was boring, hardly any flavor or Southern flare. Slow service. Generally unimpressed. I love the concept of this place and will continue to support this place. But this is the first Cobb Salad I have had here and someone please tell me this is not what it supposed to taste like. The dressing tasted like straight Vegetable oil, no other taste. I had to scrounge to find a hunk of blue cheese to eat with every bite so it could have some taste. I couldn't finish it. And I was really hungry and am not a picky person at all. They did take it back and offer to make another with a different dressing so that was appreciated. I think someone just didn't shake the dressing bottle before pouring this time so I will continue to come back! read more

Redeemed!!! Okay, I gave this place a scathing review a while back and me and my wife said, WHY NOT. Give it another shot. Perfection on both service AND the food! GF menu to the nines, some place with locally grown food, and a plethora to choose from. Had the super salad, out of this world amazing. I tried the shrimp and grits. Perfection. The Brussels sprouts were not as good as my wife's recipe, but even Perry's can't do those very well. All in all, great job. Manager was nice, pleasant, accommodating. I'm going to remove my previous review or update it because now this place is great. Judging from their lunch crowd today, they have made major progress. read more

Fresh food. Good ingredients. Cooked well. I like Dish quite a bit. My problems are that the portions are tiny, and the menu changes too often, and doesn't offer anything that isn't over the top in terms of "new age" ingredients. No good ole fashion meat and potato type dishes. Never once when I have eaten at Dish have I left full, always hungry still when I leave. Because of these last 2 reasons, I don't think I will be returning. If you eat under 2000 calories a day this will be a great option. read more

Had dinner here this past Saturday night and was not impressed. We both ordered the Apple Pecan Salad. The salad was just thrown together on the plate and didn't even look appealing. The taste mirrored the appearance. The waitress left us with one set of silverware and I had to go ask the hostess for another set. Tried dinner tonight to sit for 15 minutes with our waiter only stopping by to say he would be right with us after another waiter went to get him. Ten minutes later - we paid for our drinks and left (yes the poor inexperienced hostess actually charged us for lemonade and tea after that wait). Great decor and fast service. Menu looked great and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, food left something to be desired. Brisket, pork belly, and omelette were all severely underseasoned. Almost no flavor at all which kills the dish. The coffee creme anglaise was way too thin for dipping. It felt like someone made creme anglaise and then added coffee to it as opposed to infusing the cream first and then making the creme anglaise. Tasted like a shortcut. Coffee was weak and watery, like keurig coffee. Chicken and biscuits were well executed. The reason I'm giving the feedback is because this place has a bunch of potential and if the small but egregious food mistakes were fixed I can see this place becoming a favorite. read more

The sweet potato with brisket was outstanding and I definitely recommend the quinoa stuffed avocado with shrimp, surprisingly awesome! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Katy area. I've had several different entrees and they were all excellent. They have a good list of local microbrew beers. The restaurant is a little small, so they go on a wait pretty easily on the weekends. At lunch time it's counter service but in the evenings its normal table service. Here is my thing with Dish Society, they always make mistakes with my food! During the school year I'll meet some friends for brunch and one of our orders is always missing something. Sometimes it's an avocado, sometimes it's cheese, and more recently I've gone twice and built my own salad and they have left out toppings to my salad. Once they served my husband an underdone chicken breast. They always fix their mistakes with no problem but there shouldn't be that many mistakes. I've never gone to Dish Society and my entire table have their meal come out to satisfaction. I've spoken to other people and it seems to be the same all around. They have a fabulous location and decent food, there just needs to be someone checking the plates before they go out. read more
