I ordered the memorial trail scramble which was strictly okay, but adding some salsa (which was good!) made it more flavorful. The Nutella french toast and southwest scramble were tasty. We also had the grilled pesto chicken sandwich - really yummy - but the fries that came with it were very greasy. The mimosa didn't have much kick to it and it might as well have been OJ. The bromosa, on the other hand, was awesome! The service was excellent. All the servers were super friendly! My friend ordered the southwest scramble, thinking it would have meat. When the food came, he realized that it was vegetarian and generally asked the server if the dish was supposed to be meat-less. Super fan of this concept! Fresh, local, seasonal... Need I say more? I like the Mexican greyhound drink with a shot of vodka to spice it up even more. This makes for the perfect balance of bitter and spicy that I love - you have to be a grapefruit lover to appreciate this! The brisket sandwich is killer. It has a slaw and pickled red onion that send it over the top and can be served with either fruit or house made sweet potato chips. I found the sweet potato chips a little on the full side, but salt is provided on the table so I simply added to my taste. The biggest pitfall of this place is that it is counter service, which is not my cup of tea. Also, they are still working through some kinks with necessary staffing levels. I hate that there are 1 star reviews, you guys should cut them some slack as this is a new place and they have been working through the kinks. I looked at the reviews prior to trying this place out and I disagree with all of the low ratings. My food was warm and cooked thoroughly. Our servers were wonderful and checked on us frequently and didn't seem rushed. My boyfriend and I decided to visit this place and take our friend from Mississippi. We enjoyed it. We are very glad to have this new addition right down the road from us in Cinco Ranch. We decided to go for breakfast/brunch. My boyfriend got the brisket meal, friend got the pork belly, and I decided to go with the nutella french toast. We also got iced coffee, a latte, and the entry level juice. this was my first time here and it was really cute!! really nice spot for studying or hanging out with friends. I chose to get some studying done today on such a gloomy monday afternoon. I got the deconstructed chicken pot pie ($12) it was very good!! however, when I first received my meal, which was in a timely manner, the food was lukewarm to cold. I reported my situation soon after to one of the employees and immediately received help. a few minutes later I was presented with a brand new meal and it was piping hot!! the bread was super flaky and oh so yummy with the pot pie filling. this is a really chill spot for any occasion and I will definitely come back! read more

Last time we went there, my wife didn't like her order as the brisket wasn't what she expected, the manager immediately took the plate and changed it with a new different plate and didn't charge for the first one. Dish Society just recently opened in Katy, so I'll give them a chance as they are still adjusting. I came in for dinner with a friend on a weeknight and we were promptly seated. The waitress was really nice and patient with us as we browsed the menu and my friend and I both decided on the Apple Pecan Salad. I was really excited to try the salad after hearing good things about the vinaigrette and all the components of the salad sounded amazing. However, I was let down when the food came. Before even taking a bite, I could already smell the acid scent coming off the dressing-drenched salad. I took a bite and cringed because it was so so sour. It didn't help that everything in the salad (apple and goat cheese) had sour undertones and the pecans weren't strong enough to balance out the acidity. Overall I would give the food 2 stars because it hurt my mouth too much to finish the food. However, the service and it being a fairly new restaurant bumped it up to 3 stars. I might not come back for dinner, but maybe I'll check out the brunch and see if it is better. read more

Cute spot in Cinco! A friend and I came here on a Sunday around 11 and didn't have any trouble with a long line or finding a table (surprising since it's still a semi recent restaurant)! The restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. I ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit. The sausage was great and I am pretty picky about my pork! The egg was oozy and delicious and the cheese helped top the whole thing off! The only thing that wasn't great was the biscuit - it was pretty dense and hard. I ended up not eating the top half of the biscuit because it was too hard to chew. My friend got the pork belly hash and said it was great! I stumbled upon Dish Society looking for a healthy eatery and place to work a week ago. Dish Society has unprecedented service. I was checked on consistently to make sure my food was delivered and tasty without being hassled. I started off with a tall glass of their green society juice to replenish all of the vitamins in my body after working out and a cup of coffee. Their green juice is a combination of spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, lemon and ginger. I'm pretty sure I downed it in 60 seconds flat. Almost as soon I started working my stuffed avocado on a bed of organic greens and citrus tossed quinoa arrived. I was so hungry being this was the first meal of the day and this hit the spot! I couldn't even finish it! After tasting my first experience with Dish Society I knew I must return. So, I did! I came back on Friday to experience more of their menu! I arrived to taste their delicious breakfast and lunch. They have four different menus to include breakfast, brunch (on weekends), lunch and dinner. They also serve handcrafted cocktails and source as much of their ingredients from local farmers as possible. Extra points scored for organic produce! Houston's selection of healthy organic restaurants is quickly growing and Dish Society is a casual eatery leading the way. Here is a place I would rest my name on. There isnt anything I would change here, and especially the staff. Ever seen a place where the manager is out on the floor, smiling while doing a bit of everything except resting? What a change from the bland scenery of Katy/houston restaurants. This place has taste and style, which already makes it better than almost all restaurants in Texas. The real treat however, is the way the items are prepared. When the chef's are mindful enough to consider texture combined to seasoning, results are plates worthy of desire. When the owners are virtuoso's(1700's term for OCD), the place gleams with a vivid atmosphere like an orchestra minutes away from the crescendo. However, being the glass almost empty guy, I have discovered an embarrassing over-sight. Apparently with 3 separate menu's for the 3 meals of the day, people are looking at Yelp pictures and expecting items that may or may not be served at time of their/mine intermission. So you have been warned, thankfully the other items on the menu are just as good as the ones in the pictures. Good dinner spot, but always crowded when we go. The past time we sat outside under the space heaters, which were nice and toasty (this was during one of Houston's cold snaps). While I like the farm to table approach on principle, I think the food can be a little bland as a result. You feel pretty good about eating it, but aren't blown away by the flavors. However, I do think the brisket sweet potato is a creative dish, and inspires me to make my own at home. Service is always on the slow side. We've had the most trouble with "post dinner" drinks like tea or coffee, but could be the fact that the brew time for these is always longer than anticipated. read more

Despite the day's rain and other shortcomings, Austin and I were finally able to enjoy ourselves in one of our first dates in HOU. My neighbor Ashley and her boyfriend Eric joined us for a double date in La Centerra. We dinned at this fairly new restaurant called Dish Society, coming out more amused than pleased with the service of our waitress (hm!) Today's reflection: Looking over the meal and everything amounting to my time at Dish Society, I have to say I am quite disappointed. I was really expecting a good amount of professionalism and prestige emanating from such a restaurant with the same. But truly, my experience was mostly brought down by not only the service (90%) and then the portions and prices. My boyfriend and I decided to split a dish, the shrimp and cheesy grits. And still somehow the bill amounted to around 30+ (take note we do not drink so it shouldn't have been too much over). The portion of the plating seemed rather small, but I was a bit more relieved of its size once I tasted the grits which were not pleasing my taste buds. The "cheesy" flavor tastes more like a reminder that something might have gone bad in the kitchen or the ingredients might have been a bit out dated. Which made me sad for the three lonesome shrimp on my dish which I hoped would not taste the same. I'm not a big fan of bacon, but so far it was the only thing which saved me form the rancid flavors in the dish. I can now only speculate that it must have been the additional sauce or oils which made the grits and rest of the dish very bitter and displeasing to our palatte. Not to mention the rude service we got from their hostess/waitress that night. The restaurant was fairly empty so there was no reason why she should be too frustrated to serve us or fill up our drinks. Our friend Eric was very unhappy when he saw the waitress almost pour Ashley's soda on her lap as she set it down aggressively on the table. At first, we thought it was a silly mistake, that is until she came around to refill our drinks (after 15 mins of us waiting) and did the same thing to every single one of us at the table. The manager must have noticed because she came back with a reprimanded look on her face, but still not necessarily happy to be serving us. That look doesn't make up for the table full of carbonated syrup and your attitude missy. Despite the waitress and dishes' shortcomings we enjoyed our night out together and trying out a new restaurant. I have to say their truffle Mac N Cheese did help lighten up the mood. read more

Lunch: +Chicken Pesto Sandwich (8/10): good flavor, came with choice of side which I substituted with the tomato basil soup, this was a little sub par in my opinion. I also added a fried egg on my sandwich. +Chicken Pot Pie (5.5/10): this dish is a 'deconstructed' version of this classic food, interesting flavors, the puff pastry is nice but the actual chicken and sauce was overly salty. Dinner: +Goat Cheese Crostini (6/10): small, not very large portion, flavor was nice and the caramelized onions were a nice touch. +Brisket Stuffed Sweet Potato (7.5/10): would have been a great dish had it not come out lukewarm, the flavors were really nice and the size was enormous; brisket was very tender and well marinated. +Gulf Catch Almondine (8/10): super flavorful but a little salty, roasted vegetables are crunchy and salty. The buttered almonds were a great feature as well. +Harvest Salad: their vinaigrettes are very flavorful and pack a big punch, not much of a salad guy but these are great! I liked it. It reminds me a lot of Fielding's Woodgrill minus the burgers. The atmosphere is really neat, rustic yet urban, very inviting. We sat at the bar. The guy was very nice, informative and down to earth. Overall service and atmosphere was a 5-star in my book. The food is what they consider Farm to Table which is a plus. We ordered the pork belly app, I liked it, although the melons threw me off a bit. I was really excited to have the shrimp and grits, the sauce they had on it was interesting but I've had better. clearly they've had enough time to figure out service (shame to the early critics) it was exceptional and it looked like everyone around me was being spoiled. the real star is the food here, we needed a place like this out west (as I know no one will touch south cypress) and luckily we don't have to go downtown to enjoy seasonal, farm to table style. we've been here a few times and had great experiences, particularly with the food. first time was for lunch and hindsight I regret my weakness to resort to breakfast tacos in a time crunch considering the crazy caliber of the menu. but they were the right kind of lard tortillas, excessive amounts of bacon and egg with a necessary robust salsa to finish them off. my wife got what I should've ordered, chicken and biscuit, but I can never go wrong with breakfast tacos. her chicken was juicy and the crust perfectly crispy, even the biscuit had a crunch that held after the syrup, impressive. mother in law got some tempting looking fish tacos that flooded the plate, big portions. we sat outside on a warm day and it was pleasant to watch families and their kids play in the designated recreational areas nearby, service was great. today we got to try a bit more from the supper menu and I haven't had food this good in a long while and felt dumb for even considering another place this eve. tried the pork belly bites, I mean who can pass up on essentially huge chunks of bacon topped in syrup, pecans and oregano? crispy, soft and crunchy, salty and sweet, all combined, yes please. it is a perfect starter to share for 2-4 people, and 5$ only since it was happy hour. yea I couldn't finish so I brought one chunk home and it was so good for a late night guilty snack. I thought, ok it's happy hour and the starters are mostly 5$, I'll order a few of those, but man it was a ton of food for me. the crostini felt rich and strong in flavour yet light overall on the stomach, and that goat cheese with balsamic vinegar was to die for and worked great with the frisée lettuce on top. the quinoa stuffed alvacado was something I would order again and again, it had some nice acidity to it with the citrus dressing that complemented the alvacado half and was perfect for the quinoa salad ball on top. even without mixing the greens it stands by itself easily. loved the citrus (and Parmesan?) dressing on the frisée and arugula leaves, that was light and delicious, and I combined it all for the last few bites. the salad leaves didn't even need the optional protein, but if I ordered it by itself I would certainly add chicken. got a bite of my wife's salad and it was so good too: the roasted pears, champaign vinaigrette and parmesan were a classic combo for arugula and the quality of the leaves is amazing, most places can't touch this. dessert was almost better, I wished I had enough left in me to finish but a few bites told me all I need to know, so worth it. rum and cinnamon and banana, perfect amount of heat that requires you to grab a coating of vanilla ice cream, what a finish. and no drinks, I mean i could spend a long time finding some good wine pairings here but luckily my wife is pregnant. the fountain drinks are high end, you know those maine root ones like the Dr pepper-ish doppelganger, good enough. for sure will be back to try the shrimp n grits that comes highly recommended, and it's so exciting that this is seasonal so can't wait to see what James beard quality dishes are ready to be forked next, tbc... read more

Tried this place on Friday night. First time eating here, and it was fairly disappointing. Will not be back. We ordered the pork belly appetizer which was absolutely fantastic but the portion for what we paid was quite paltry. The pretzel appetizer was quite impressive with a nice smoky flavor on the pretzel and the queso was fantastic. Our server gave us space but almost too much space. Our drinks were constantly empty and we had to ask for refills all through the night. When asked about seasonal specials and the menu, the server seemed confused and not sure what we asked about. The appetizers and main dishes all came out at once much to our surprise. I have never seen this done before and the server acted like this was standard operating procedure. The Brussels sprouts salad was nice, though the salad dressing was a little short. Two people in our party ordered the deconstructed chicken pot pie, which was OK but the lemon flavor that they added to it was overwhelming one of the people in our party did not even eat a quarter of it because of the strength. I ordered the pork tenderloin, which was extremely tough and way over done. We were not checked on after we received our food. The server asked us if we were ready for our check and we had to ask her for a dessert and coffee menu instead. Outside of this I like the restaurant atmosphere and feeling inside. This place is awesome!! The customer service is 5*, the food is 5* and the drinks are 5*. We have been here numerous times for brunch and it never disappoints. Today I tried the smoked salmon avocado toast which is a new addition on their menu- the manager came up and asked me how I liked it, he stood talking to us for a few minutes genuinely wanting to know our opinion. My husband got the pork belly hash- added avocado and bacon- the best! Pancakes are good, we prefer the buttermilk rather than the one with the fruit inside.
