However, it's difficult to find a table so you have to keep an eye out for one. As for food, I ordered the bbq grilled cheese sandwich with coleslaw on the side. I truly enjoyed their smokehouse food with good service and a great view of the river. Initially they were hard to fine. I guess because I thought they were in the main building but they're not. Their mac & cheese is very very good. They have a different twist on it. The best way I can describe it is light and cheesy with a slightly breading topping. It's something you must try if you've ever in the area. I did try the collar greens but turned it in because it's has smoke pork in it , so I opted out and went with their Cajun/barbecue seasoning fries also good but that Brisket Sandwich is a game changer. You can tell they use real salted butter to butter the bread and the smoke flavor on the brisket tasted incredibly good. Very flavorful that combined with the mac & cheese was a great meal. At the end of my meal I enjoyed a Georgia Bulldog Margarita, just enjoying the great view of the River traffic. It was our last meal in Savannah and we hadn't done bbq yet, this place did not disappoint. 100% outside but don't worry this place has amazing heaters that hit every seat around the bar so you will not be cold in lower temps, plus you can't beat the view of the Savannah River. Second time eating here. First time was just to eat wings, which are amazing btw. Second time I chose to get the district burger which has brisket, queso and pickles on it, comes with a side. The brisket is sooo good, from the first bite you taste so much smoky flavor from everything including the queso. The portion is definitely worth the money I'd have to say as well. Sun 8/30/2020- I was really excited to try this new spot on the riverfront of the new Plant Riverside District. The restaurant is all outdoor, there is a wrap around bar and 4 or 5 outdoor tables. I believe it is a JW Marriott restaurant. Its only been open about a month but here we go... First off the service is subpar. There were two guys working on a Sunday at 1PM. People were mostly coming up to get drinks but the guys just can't keep up. Waited about 10 mins from the time I sat down until the server came by for my drink order. I got a sweet tea which was not freshly brewed, it was piped in from the bar nozzle same as sodas. Now, I'm a BBQ fanatic and all the legit places I've been the sweet tea is a staple. I think this place is first and foremost is a hotel restaurant, its not meant to be an awesome bbq place. JMHO. The food was actually pretty good. I got a brisket sandwich and it was tender and had great flavor. The mac and cheese was delicious. Maybe I'll try it again after they work out the bugs, but I would expect flawless service for this tier of restaurant (JW Marriott Luxury level) and the brand new prime hyped location. The sides were really good and you can't tell me somebody black didn't make those collard greens lol. I was in a group of 7 friends in Savannah for a bachelor party and we needed to make last-minute dinner plans. Before I continue, I HIGHLY recommend choosing that city for a bachelor party! We were on a pedal tour and our guide recommended smokehouse for authentic barbecue. We were not in the mood for an upscale restaurant since we had an expensive dinner the night before in Hilton Head. The District Smokehouse is situated right on the Savannah River in the Plant Riverside District (behind the JW Marriott). It is not its own building - it's basically a large outdoor bar with a handful of tables. They do not take reservations and if it is a Friday or Saturday night, it is difficult to get seats for parties larger than 2-3 people. We had to split up our group - 2 of us sat on one side of the bar, while the rest of the guys sat together across from us. It was a frustrating, however we didn't really have many options within walking distance. The menu has a decent variety of meal options (and a full bar menu) and the prices are reasonable. They were probably a bit understaffed as a couple of the employees seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. They have sandwiches, meat platters, typical sides (Mac and cheese, beans, collared greens, etc) and smaller dishes. We were upset to learn that they were out of baked beans after we placed our orders :/ I went with the bbq chicken platter, which included 2 sides and 3 drumsticks. The cost was about $16 (reasonable). However, they made minor mistakes with our orders. Because they were out of beans, I requested Mac and cheese and collared greens as my side. They accidentally served me the platter with 2 sides of fries by accident - it turns out they meant to serve that to the gentleman next to me, but he switched seats! Oops. I figured they could just take back the fries, however I started eating the chicken so they decided to have me keep the fries, which were delicious by the way. I'd say the chicken was quite good, but I added some bbq sauce to make it moist and for flavor. The Mac and cheese was okay, but I'll take it. The food was satisfying and I loved eating a meal right on the water in the beautiful weather. I would recommend they hire another 1-2 employees to help their operation run more efficiently. Great spot on River Street at the Plant Riverside District. We used the "To Go" window and our food was ready pretty fast considering it was a holiday weekend. The pulled pork was delicious. It wasn't dry and their cornbread was great. (had actual corn and peppers in it). My husband had the Smoke house dog that came bacon wrapped with pulled pork, pickles and bbq sauce. He throughly enjoyed it as well. We chose fries as our side and they were crispy with great seasoning. We would definitely come here again when we need a quick bite.
