The service was awful. The staff acts like you're a burden. Also, this grossest salsa I have ever had in my life and the chips were subpar too. The burrito was okay, but they really need to work on the sauce they poured all over it. I'll never go there again. The worse customer service EVER! The girl at the register was extremely rude. Every time I would ask her a question about the menu I felt like she was getting annoyed and was answering me with an attitude, the restaurant was completely empty, it took them more than 15 minutes to prepare 3 tacos. Came here for an early lunch on a Wednesday. I was in the area so decided to stop by. I've been to one of the DC District Taco locations (one close to National Theatre) and loved it! Decided to try this location. Service was spot on. Easy going, friendly staff and fairly fast service. The food was ready by the time I was done with getting my extra toppings at the bar. District Taco is a pretty average taco joint in this up and coming residential area. My friends recently moved across the street so we went out to explore some food options for dinner and ended up here. I ordered a steak and chicken taco on flour tortilla the jefe way but asked for no tomatoes and also extra fresh jalapenos. I was a little hungry so I ordered a side of rice and beans. They make your food infront of you with just a glass barrier between the counter and the customer. They were almost out of both chicken and steak and were scrapping the bowls for the grilled veggies. Regardless, I carried my food over to the other counter and loaded up on some salsas. The taco were ok but I know they have potential if I was served fresh meat, both the chicken and steak were dry and burnt. The toppings were fresh and the salsas had a great kick to it and I was honestly shocked at how good the rice and beans were. Way better than chipotle in my opinion and the chicken is very good, but one thing that they could work on is the portion size. The burritos used to be almost as big as the ones you get from chipotle but recently, the size has been reduced almost half while still paying the same price. District Taco over by the Dunn Loring-Merrifield Metro station is great. It's comparable to the other locations I've visited, and is just as good! All ingredients are freshly made and the staff has been consistently helpful from the time this location first opened to the present day. They're on point when it comes to replenishing the sauce/salad bar and in ensuring that each customer receives their order. What's great about DT is that they don't cheat on how much meat is included in your order; the burrito bowls are packed in and the tacos are at a decent size for indulging. The ingredients are fresh, which is an absolute plus. My favorite to order are the steak tacos, but the chips and salsa are great as well. I love loyalty program - for every 10 tacos I order, I get 1 free. It's a great incentive, especially since I frequent this establishment. read more

I've been here a few times and have tried a variety of tacos (al pastor, carnitas, steak, chicken). You can get 3 tacos for $8 which is a good price. They also serve breakfast tacos with potatoes and eggs which I found to be a little soggy and bland. The salsa bar is the best part, where you can load up on onions, cilantro, and a variety of salsa. The salsa verde was refreshing and acidic. The burritos are a good size- definitely more bang for your buck, but also messy to eat. read more

Ownership was quick to respond to my first experience. I gave DT a second try and got the 3 tacos again. The tacos are solid and I like their salsa bar but they could improve their salsa selection. Nothing special here, keep moving. The steak was overdone, and tough. They skimped on the sour cream and cheese on my tacos. It's weird they give you flashcards for your order when dining in, but don't give you a stand to hold it up, so the servers shout out numbers looking for you while your food gets cold. Not sure what that's about. There were a lot of kids there, and thank god the kids near us were sort of well behaved because the tables are close together. Came here at 9:45pm waited in line next to order for ten minutes. Ordered my food and was told I can't dine in here while the restaurant was already full of people dined in. While I'm ordering my food, employees are eating food in the kitchen station while putting food away for the night. After I ordered my food they took away all the salsa from the salsa station. Rude! The night staff is definitely unprofessional including the night manager! I don't see them kicking the cop out that is eating with his family. Now I'm in my car with my family eating uncomfortable! I have to confess, I wrote this review entirely because of the house salad dressing. I have only ever gotten their salads, and usually get fajita veggies, chicken, pico de gallo, jalapenos, and guacamole. But their SALAD DRESSING. I don't know what it's made out of; it's potentially a mixture of hot sauce, pepper, love, gilded angel dust, red 40, vinegar, and the sweat off of Bill Paxton's brow after he was done chasing tornadoes in Twister, but that stuff is DELICIOUS. First try at DT and it was a very pleasant experience. Customer service really goes a long way and makes all the difference considering all the options in the area and DT nailed it. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I really liked the Carne Asada taco and the fish taco. I liked both the flour and corn tortillas. All of the salsas I tried were really good as well. For an easy coast taco spot, everything was very good. I would recommend selecting the toppings you know you like as you can be tempted to over do it and destroy your taco. District Taco is A-OK. I love their food and I guarantee I'll be going back. This is an order at the counter and they bring you your food when it's ready type of place. They have a salsa bar similar to a few other taco-chain restaurants. Their fountain sodas are neither Coke nor Pepsi, but some other brand I had never heard of. Ugggggh, I ate the ENTIRE burrito in one sitting. It was so good. Had the carne asada. But I would ask for extra cheese if that ingredient is important to you. Prior to coming to this District Taco, I heard nothing but good things about the food. I gave this location three chances to impress me and it unfortunately failed. I've had tacos, quesadillas, and the chips/guac. The best thing I've tried is the chips/guac, which happened to improve each time I went. I've been given tacos that had soggy, wet shells with burnt fish, and the quesdillas left much to be desired. Needless to say I won't be back. But if you're in a rush, fresh off the Dunn Loring metro, and are craving mediocre fast food, then this DT is for you. I have been to this District Taco and the one in Old Town. This one is very good, but the one in Old Town seems to be more on the ball in terms of quality. I get my tacos made the same way every time and this location's tacos are just not as flavorful as the location in Old Town. Other district taco locations are really good but this one unfortunately has been terrible EVERY visit. They are NEVER open on time. Today it took 35 minutes to get 5 breakfast tacos?!? This was also my experience the last time I came which was before a work meeting which I was late for. The tacos weren't even made right I can understand that sometimes things happen and you can have days when things go awry but at least offer some customer service: a free coffee, a soda, a punch card, a sorry, anything! These guys said nothing. Then they asked if we could pay cash- luckily I'm this day I had some cash in the car. I paid out total= 14.10 with a $20th bill. I received $4.09 back..... huh? 9 a.m. is not by any means an early start time....come on guys, get it together. If you open at 9 that means you are ready to take and make orders at that time. You need to step up your customer service! If you make a mistake, you offer something to keep the customer happy because that's much cheaper than bad reviews and word of mouth. They even made an issue about us getting a water cup with a lid for our kids who were waiting in the car the whole time! You have got to be kidding me?! read more

Definitely one of the better taco joints around my house. I usually go to Taco Bamba if I want some more authentic Mexican food, but District Taco is actually really delicious as well. They have a variety of sauces, toppings, etc. and I like how they allow you to mix the types of tortillas and meats with the 3 tacos. I live right across the street from the new shops at the Dunn Loring metro stop so I was very excited to see District Taco open. I have been there a number of times and have always gotten a good meal. I usually order the Tacos or sometimes that Burritos. I always have chicken and it is really nice that I can add as many toppings or salsas as I want. They also carry Boylan sodas which I like. Nice to have them in the neighborhood. read more
