These tacos are amazing!! I have not tried anything else, I am sure everything is amazing but I cannot imagine not having their tacos when I eat here. The staff is kind and quick. They have huge bursts of really busy times and everyone seems to be focused on customers, quality, and timeliness. You have two preset options for your tacos but you can add and customize them with all sorts of toppings. Great chicken, fish, and breakfast tacos. There is an awesome salsa bar with several different spice levels, cilantro, onions, jalapenos, etc... There are little take away cups there so you can get as much as you need to go or to eat there. Pricing is great at about $3/taco which you just cant beat. There is always plenty of seating, generally very clean, they give you interesting table numbers so just listen up for your order! read more

District Taco is definitely a step up relative to Chipolte. However, the food is not as high quality as Taco Bamba. I generally order the 'Healthy Tacos,' which include egg whites. These are actually quite good (and of course, fairly healthy). Also, the price is fairly reasonable. The one downside here is that the service can be really slow. Even when it appears that they have substantially more workers than customers, it can take a long time to receive your order. read more

Taco Bamba, ABC Canteen, La Sandia in Tysons, Don Taco in Alexandria, etc. don't even come close to an Austin taco. Came here on a Tuesday to try their fish tacos and felt like I was back south again. Seriously good stuff. Had been wanting to try District Taco since they opened a new location near my home. My husband and I finally had an opportunity this past Friday. I observe a gluten free diet, so I was thrilled to see that they have options to order a corn tortilla for many of their menu items. For this visit my husband ordered 3 tacos and I ordered the burrito desnudo (burrito bowl) so forgoing a tortilla at all. It was really crowded so we got the order to go. It was our first time and being more regular Chipotle goers, it was different for us to have to list out all the ingredients we wanted in the food at the register...the cashier looked annoyed that I didn't pick one of the pre-set options, but again, being new, it was hard to tell what it came with. We were given what looked like a playing card and after paying, stepped to the side to wait for our order, which was brought to us about 10 minutes later (don't be deceived by the short line, you still have to wait to get your food while they make it behind the line). We didn't think to inspect the items closely before departing, but upon arriving home and taking them out, realized that although my husband's order was correct, mine was not. Not only did I not get a bowl, I was given a burrito wrapped in a flour tortilla...the very thing I can't eat. The next day I discovered there was an email address that you could send customer comments to, so I shared my story about the wrong order and the potential health consequences that accompanied my eating what I was given. Two days after that, I received a response, which was apologetic and I appreciated that, but then went on to ask if I had a PICTURE of my food and receipt! Ummm, no, didn't occur to me to snap a pic before throwing it in the trash. No further follow up from them. Giving three stars here only because they got my husband's order correct, but honestly, the experience wasn't the greatest and food was meh...the only thing they have over Chipotle is no recent e-coli outbreak. read more

I work close by and have eaten here many times. Food tastes decent but is seriously over priced. $15 for three tiny tacos, chips, and a drink is just not a reasonable price. Huge disappointment. We have been here 4 or 5 times, and I keep thinking it will deserve the rrviews. My wife and I have stopped ordering together, because EVERY time we have, they have gotten the order wrong. They insist on putting the salsa in tiny, tiny cups, unless you are willing to pay an up charge. WTH?! The tacos are true to Street Taco standards, but that has its down side. They are pretty bland and way too wet, as if the meat has simply been soaking forever. read more

I am always down for a meal at District Taco (in VA or DC). I usually get 3 tacos: 1. breakfast taco (which are served all day) usually the potato/egg/chorizo 2. Al Pastor 3. Barbacoa or Fish if they have it that day. It is so delicious and filling. I also love their salsa/cilantro/etc. bar as I love to put a ton of cilantro in my tacos. Their nachos are also good but keep in mind their nachos come with a queso cheese (creamy/drippy consistency) and not your typical melted shredded cheese. I do not like the Burrito Desnudo (burrito bowl - for some reason it tastes bland? I think it's the rice) here - for that type of dish, I prefer Chipotle. However, the tacos are amazing and I look forward to eating here again and again! read more

I am usually all about district taco but has the meat flavor changed? My tacos, one carne asada and one chicken, were BOTH dry and almost inedible. If I had food at home I wouldn't have gone to get take out. Regretting that decision. read more

We live across the street from this District Taco and go at least once a week. It has friendly and fast service, and the food is pretty good. The place tries hard to keep itself clean. There is always someone cleaning the salad bar, the tables and/or the floor. They give you a free taco when you have purchased 10 items. It seems that every 2 times we go, we would get a free taco. Good place for a quick and cheap bite. read more

I can't believe that people eat here. I decided to try it once, and what a mistake! I had the enchiladas and they were ample, but mediocre at best. My friend had the tacos and I was shocked when I saw them---TINY and practically empty. The tacos wouldn't be enough food for a child. There's nothing here to come back for a second time. I went to District Taco for my first time last weekend and I was completely satisfied. Unlike Chipotle, District Taco is straight forward and organized meaning that all of the possible ingredients are listed on a board and you order at the register. Nevertheless, I had a burrito with barbacoa and it tasted great! Great location. Great food at reasonable prices. You can add "toppings" to a base taco, burrito, etc. I like the breakfast burrito. Parking is free in the parking lot immediately adjacent to it. If you haven't been here it's best to ask the cashier questios, I didn't and it took me 2 times to figure out what came standard with the breakfast burrito. There are salsa's that you can serve yourself near the utensil area - think Baja Fresh. In the end it's worth it. The atmosphere is open, clean and a little on the busy side. This is place is always busy whenever I've gone. It's the busiest food place in the Dunn Loring metro stop that i could tell. read more

The customer service was AMAZING. However, the carne asada was hardly seasoned and cooked WAY too "well done". It had zero flavor and was practically indistinguishable from steak from Chipotle... and if you've had Chipotle steak recently, it's essentially hard, small pellets of dog food. The taco was also runny. Literally dripping water from the lettuce and what I assume to be yogurt cultures from the sour cream, completely saturated the taco wrapper and my hand. What a mess to eat. My experience at the Old Town Alexandra location was 5 star, and that in fact prompted me to visit the closest District Taco location... only to be disappointed royally. The carne asada at the old town Alexandria location was sit-down restaurant quality for a great price, but this experience was extremely off. I probably will be back again with hopes that this was simply an "Off Day" for them. But if it's worse when I come back, I'm dropping this review to one star. read more

By the way, "I love Mexican food!" I've seen the District Taco establishments pop up one after another here in the Metro area, but I've never had an opportunity to dine there. Because "I love Mexican food!" when the Avenir Place location at the Dunn Lorring Metro Station opened this Monday, I was overjoyed and I couldn't wait to experience my first DT taco. (1) I ordered the 3 chicken/corn tortillas/American and Mexican way, combined, with a side sour cream. I enjoyed the tacos, but the sour cream I was charged was missing from my bag when I arrived back to my office. The next day, I wanted to give the DT another try because "I love Mexican food!" I ordered the same items but ordered an additional side of rice and beans. Since I missed out on the sour cream from the day before, I was suggested to advise the manager, Edrees (BTW, he was really cool and accommodating), who authorized replacing the missing sour cream from the previous day without hesitation. I walked back to my office. (2) Well, upon opening the wrapping, I was disappointed with the first taco. The tortilla was stale and dried out. Regrettably, all my corn tortillas were EXTREMELY chewy and unbearably stale and the chicken was dried out too, likely from remaining under the heating lamp for an extended period due to slow traffic. (3) The side of sour cream was barely enough to satisfy one taco and the side of rice and beans I ordered, even after the host reminded the cook to ensure the and beans were included, was still left out of my carryout bag. I only got the rice. (4) Because "I love Mexican food" I thought I'd call the manager to provide an account of my very first experience at District Taco, for developmental purposes, but I couldn't find a phone number anywhere, not on the carry out menu, the receipt or online. I think I'm going to be reconsidering my 10 minute walk for lunch to DT. read more
