I've been to District Tavern several times and the service from the staff and bartenders has always been great but last night we were accosted by the owner who was incredibly rude and disrespectful to my friend who had her service dog with her. The dog is a registered and certified medical service animal but the owner claimed since she didn't "look like a service dog" she wasn't allowed to stay. That's illegal plain and simple. Plus the owner's demeanor and very loud and rude approach was completely uncalled for. It's too bad since we've enjoyed coming here frequently but I feel bad for anyone who needs to suffer under this horrible leader. Lots more places with great ownership to patronize so I'd recommend avoiding District Tavern. We certainly won't be back. read more

Good potential, poor execution. Mac & cheese = excellent. Tavern Shooters = excellent. Burgers = excellent. Salmon Club =terrible. Southwest bowl = good. Dry, overcooked salmon. No sauce or missing sauce, wrong type of bread, chewy. Poor execution. Bacon was the best part, throw the rest away. Drinks - had the breakfast Manhattan, great but dammit!!! 47 effing pounds of ice instantly diluted the flavors, hid the Bour on completely and turned the drink into an adult melted popsicle. ONE CUBE people. Stop diss if the bourbon and creativity of a good cocktail. Our waitress was a mess. Pleasant, polite hungover and lost. 10 minutes for 1st drinks. Then 10 minutes for 4 beers during a slow brunch???!!! Come on man. I had to go ask the bartender for our drinks at one point. Come on man. For a Sunday morning, the music was a tick too loud. It's such a great spot for hanging with family, friends, or your significant other. Their food is great; I love their Cobb salad, Brussel sprouts are amazing, and definitely their quesadilla and turkey club. Is it serious to mention their staff is amazing. This is a very nice and large bar and gastropub, with good bar food. Went to watch a football game, there are several televisions which is nice to watch different games. It is located right in downtown Tampa, a bit off the beaten path so it tends to be less busy, which is nice for a date or to be able to talk with someone. The service was a bit slow, sat with an empty beer for about 5 mins, I typically prefer the bartender to ask if the patron would like another one when it's almost empty. They do have a pretty innovative specialty seasonal cocktail menu including the Catch Me If You Cane: Brown butter washed rum, ginger root, allspice, anise star, lemon. I had an unexpectedly long trip to Tampa after a number of flight issues, finally checking into my hotel at about 11:40pm on a Monday. I was starving, but the hotel restaurants were all closed and there was no room service after hours. Checked Yelp and looked for nearby places that were still open. District Tavern was the 4th place on the list, but the other 3 were all closed and not taking orders when I called. So I called and placed an order... wings (1/2 Buffalo and 1/2 lemon pepper), a cup of tomato bisque, and a side Caesar salad. They told me it would be ready in 20 minutes and when I arrived about 25 minutes later, the food was waiting for me. As it turns out, the bar was open, so I ended up eating inside. The atmosphere is cool. The last of the Monday Night Football crowd was clearing out, but there were plenty of screens, good music, and friendly bartenders. The wings hit the spot and the tomato bisque was delicious! I would definitely come back to try some of their other fare and to catch a game. Walked in on a Friday night and was able to choose from plentiful seating. There are quite a few TVs in a all angels so you're sure to catch some type of game on no matter where you're seated. Server was attentive and friendly. There were lots of options on the menu from appetizers, handhelds, wings and traditional dishes. We ordered drinks and a few apps to share. Drinks and food came out fast! The pretzel was hot and nice & soft- accompanied with mustard and beer cheese. Next the mozzarella balls. Kinda like most sticks but in a ball instead. I was introduced to this place months ago. But I've gone back with some frequency recently. There is wine, beer, liquor and food. And the food selection, although limited, it's really very good. I'd argue their jalapeño bacon mac is some of the best in town. The drinks are fun - they've got an interesting take on a Moscow Mule and they also have a bacon infused margarita on the rocks that is very good. My only gripe is that it's a little on the expensive side. But not absurdly, so. Other things of note are the bike racks right out front and the service is better than most places - you won't be waiting around all day for your food or drink order. read more

A solid, local Channelside spot that is away from some of the tourist craziness, especially for those of us that call downtown Tampa home. Good is great, staff is friendly and you can usually find a friendly crowd. Bonus is that it overlooks a neighborhood dog park; window seats come with a fun view. read more

This place is nice. My boyfriend and I stopped in around 10pm to get something to eat. The atmosphere is cool and not too bright. We ordered, chicken wings: average. Mozzarella cheese balls: Amazing! I really enjoyed District Tavern. It has the look and feel of what a gastropub should be. Open and spacious with lots of TVs and seating and good food. Melissa and I came before the Billy Joel concert, whom we hadn't seen For the Longest Time (see what I did there). Now, you might think that before such a concert, we should have a bottle of red, or ooooooooo, a bottle of white, but that wasn't the kind of mood we were in that night. No, on another night, You May be Right, but not tonight. Tonight, me and my Uptown Girl just needed a quick bite, maybe a drink, and we had to run to the arena, where you'd think I would be a Big Shot, but no. They treat me like I'm The Stranger. I ordered a simple whiskey and water and a southwest chicken bowl - I don't recall the name and can't really be bothered to look it up right now. However, it came with quinoa (or rice, but I went healthy) and blackened chicken and it was very good. Don't recall what Melissa got, but I am fairly certain she enjoyed it too. This is a great place for a pre-show meal for a couple of reasons. First, it is within walking distance. Second, because it is off the beaten path a bit, it was not nearly as busy as the places in Channelside or Fergs Live, or even some of the other pubs and restaurants in the business area of downtown Tampa. We were surprised how easy it was to get a table. That said, a number of reviews complained about the service, and while our server was friendly and everything was fine, service was slow. Normally, I would consider deducting a star for it, but it wasn't so bad that it screwed up our evening. Still, you should plan on needing some extra time all the same. We also ordered the chips and salsa, tomatoe bisque, a club sandwich with macaroni and cheese and the house salad with ranch. The chips came with cheese sauce- which was tasty, but not what we ordered. The tomato bisque was bland yet sweet? Not sure how that's possible, but they did it. The salad was plentiful and had. A tasty ranch dressing. The club sandwich had a yummy mustard aioli and the Mac'n'cheese was amazing- creamy and cheesie! All in all, not terrible. But also, not the fantastic meal I had hoped for. The bartender only checked with us at the end of our meal, which is when she corrected the chips and salsa- but at that point we just wanted to leave. Maybe they would do better during a busier time. Really really like this place. For a while my best friend stayed at Skyhouse and it was so convenient to walk downstairs and pick up food and drink. We ordered from District Tavern off of Uber Eats as they were one of the only restaurants open late and I'm SO glad we did. We decided to order a few appetizers to split. Tavern Shooters: 3/5. I thought this was going to be my favorite item, but it was my least favorite. I will say the tomato soup was very good, but the grilled cheeses had almost no flavor and were not cheesy or crispy as expected. Also, the bread ratio was totally off. Skip these. Mozzarella Balls: 4/5. Very solid take on mozzarella sticks. The insides were actually very soft and not as crunchy as a traditional mozzarella stick is, so I really enjoyed them. Washington Park Pretzel: 4/5. What can I say, I love a good pretzel. Anytime a pretzel is on the menu, you can bet I'm ordering it. The pretzel was very good, not as great as WOB's but a very solid choice. The cheese dip was delicious, however the mustard was way too overpowering and strong on the pretzel. Beer Battered Onion Rings: 5/5. I am actually surprised that this was our favorite item we ordered. The batter on the onion rings was ridiculously light and fluffy but still so crunchy at the same time. I'd order these again and again. Fredo Flatbread: 4/5. The flatbread was perfectly crispy and had a great combination of flavors between the spinach, bacon, and Alfredo sauce. My only complaint is that I wish it had more bacon, I couldn't stop gobbling it up. You can add chicken to this as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal. I was there tonight. I was just upset from the service. I had a young man ask me if I wanted to keep my wine glass for my bottle of champagne, I said yes and he ended up taking it didn't bring me a new one or anything. I had to ask for a glass. Like who drinks champagne out of the bottle.? In a public restaurant, Then there was a blonde brand new bar tender who has 0 knowledge on how to make your basic mostly ordered bar cocktails as in an old fashion as I'm watching the young man teach this blonde girl to make my drink in front of me then telling me I hope it taste good, when she over poured the bitters and just everything else was shitty, you could tell she's never been a bartender in her life. If these two worked behind my bar they would be fired. Worst service took forever to just wave them down to order food. Headed to this restaurant while in town for a hockey game. We had the blackened salmon burger and the chicken Caesar salad with sweet potato fries. The food was excellent. The salmon was perfectly cooked and the sweet potato fries were amazing. Unfortunately, service was subpar at best. Our server was detached and flippant. She never returned to our table after our food was brought out. I had to chase down a manager to ask for our bill after sitting for a half hour waiting for her to come back to the table. Then, the manager was the one to bring the bill. We never saw the server again. The place wasn't busy while we were there. Overall, food was great.
