Awful, awful service. I'd be embarrassed to own or manage this place. Food was ok. Never got drinks, napkins. ‍ total disaster.

This is a review for the lunch at District Tavern. Positives - The view is great with a dog park next door, so there is always something nice to look at outside, as well as numerous TVs inside. I would say the food is average, maybe slightly above average, but nothing special. Negatives - I have been here multiple times during lunch and there has never been more than 1 server. The food has taken forever each time. There is no reason lunch for 2 should take over an hour unless you are trying to stretch it out. I've got to get back to work so I'm not wasting any time here, but I can never get out in less than an hour. I went back one more time after I hadn't been in months, and nothing has changed. I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was here. I ordered the tavern burger with sweet potato fries. Excellent quality and everything tasted very fresh. Arguably the best sweet potato fries I've ever had as they were crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside and seasoned to perfection. The burger was cooked perfectly medium rare and was very juicy. Overall I was very happy and the bar staff was great as well! read more

Stopped in on a Wednesday night for a late dinner with some friends. I had just landed from a 2 hour flight. The atmosphere was great, service was cool. They easily accommodated all 12 of us. Bad service ! Jessica was extremely rude! She wasn't very friendly. When asked her for recommendations after I didn't like what I order, all she said was "well you got one of the most popular items from the menu and you don't like it so I'll get you a menu" We asked twice her for refills and never got it. When she dropped the check she didn't say anything. I live across the street from this establishment and I've come in here a few times but after today I can guarantee you I won't be coming back. Quick update to my review. My wife and I stopped in late afternoon to watch the UCF game and ended up spending the entire evening. First highlight GREAT service. The bartenders are so cool. Secondly GREAT food! Wings, and a Cesar salad were perfect. Lastly there are so many very nice people from all walks of life here. A real neighborhood tavern with a very relaxed vibe. Just a quick note to say we are back at our favorite upscale neighborhood bar, great cocktails, beer, service and food! read more

Why does every restaurant in Tampa have to make every sandwich with bacon on it??? Not everyone eats pork. You should think about updating your menu options via UberEats so customers can make modifications for all of your sandwiches that come with bacon or cheese. So frustrating. read more

A little unimpressed with this spot in Tampa. I'd come back if I was in a bind or just going for a drink. Atmosphere: 3 stars - it's a smaller spot with cocktail tables and a huge bar. I saw the lighting flag so I would have figured this was a good spot to watch the hockey game but the music didn't stop when the game started which was a bummer. It's pretty dark with okay lighting but overall just eh. Maybe it's a good late night bar. Food/drink: 3 stars - I had a burger and 2 of the local drafts. The saving grace was the local beers that were recommended to me, they were great. The burger just wasn't that good, pretty cold, the cheese was already hard probably from sitting out a bit. I took the buns off because they were a little too soggy. Service: 3.5 stars - the bartenders seemed okay but weren't really responsive. It wasn't crowded, maybe just an off night. I wouldn't eat here again but would come for drinks. read more

Nice little neighborhood tavern... I've been here numerous times over the past few years. However, the service is always less than great. Perhaps there is a lot of turnover? I'm not sure. Seems to be busy most of the time at the bar. One of my favorite dishes they serve is called: Tavern Shooters... (2) grown up gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, sliced diagonally. Consists of a delectable smoked Gouda and Brie cheese, pancetta, caramelized onion and arugula. Comes with several little shot glasses of roasted tomato bisque for dipping the sandwiches. Great idea! We also had the salmon dinner with vegetables. Nothing to write home about. Overall, if you're going out to drink and just hang out and have some bar food, it's OK. read more

Service was good but food is overpriced for being subpar, definitely nothing to rave about. If we weren't starving I would have sent back all of our food. Also the drink inconsistencies with the bartenders is disappointing. We had the same drink each time and they both would taste different depending on who made them. read more

Been coming down to Tampa from DC to visit a good friend. He lives here in Channelside by DT. We always come here for lunch/brunch/drinks and Heather always makes me feel like a local. Cute, trendy tavern located in channelside. Service is great and food was okay. I ordered the buffalo mac & cheese and though the flavors were great, it came out cold. Just moved to the area and have been here twice. Food was great! Unfortunately the bar is just non engaging. Maybe I caught them on a bad week? Not sure, but I'm used to bartenders making conversation with customers not just themselves especially since it's a neighborhood bar and seats were not filled we had to ask a server twice if we could get some food / and then a beer refill and she was super nice ! The girl with the red hair ! We asked her because we could not get the bartenders attention - then witnessed a man literally at the service bar waiting to pay for about 5-10 as multiple staff just walked around him It just killed the whole vibe. I was there for brunch with a rather large party. However, we had reservations and arrived at the beginning of the brunch hour. Our waiter started out really great but his patience grew short as time passed and the restaurant started to fill up and at the end he was just flat out rude. Once we placed our orders it took an extremely long time to get our food. We watched countless patrons order after us and receive their food before ours. Once our food arrived it was cold. ** If you're driving, go one street west to 11th for a public access parking garage. Free for first 20 minutes, $2.00/hr after that. ** This was my first time visiting District Tavern. I was in the area and specifically wanted to knock out a review. So I was pretty attentive for this one. My first impression was "where the heck do I park" and found a paid public garage after driving through two resident-only garages. It's Channelside though so no harm no foul. First impression walking in: there was a group of 6-8 people at a hightop that had one too many drinks an hour before I showed up and they hadn't slowed down since. They were highly entertaining - one of the guys kept openly slapping one of the ladies on their rearend. The bartenders seemed to be actively not noticing the whole group (unless they came up to the bar and needed something, no hate on the staff). I sat on the west side of the seating area (to the right when looking at the bar, also from where I took the indoor picture I posted). There is an air handler directly overhead that hums loudly nonstop. Doesn't exactly add to the ambiance in a good way. I teetered on three stars until my food came. *Why not five stars? - Parking was "meh" but not really their fault - Drunk group was entertaining but they left during my stay ... only to be replaced by a second drunk foursome. Seems to be a regular occurence? - Air handler that made me want to cry "first world problem" tears - It's lit kind of divey. See my picture of the juke box that appears to have a solid black border. That's the seating area lighting ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - I went to order a dessert (for the review, I swear) and they only had one item available from a menu selection of 4-5. Is this normal for a restaurant kitchen on a Sunday night? *Why not three stars? - I ordered the Tavern Burger. I try to keep relatively fit but inside me is trapped an inner fat boy. The burger sang the song of my native people. I ordered it medium rare and I'm glad I had my sleeves rolled up; even after cutting it in half it dripped to my wrists. It tasted like the bartender took my order back to the kitchen and the chef was like "*fist bumps own chest* I got you fam." I usually don't eat all my french fries (because of the "relatively fit" thing) but these were awesome and they were all gone. The dessert I ordered was standard (chocolate came), nothing bad about it. I had a Stalingard Mule off the menu (no added flavors) and it was very good. I also decided while drinking it that mules would probably make a great morning-after-too-much-to-drink drink, so there's that. Now I don't have to drink a bloody mary ever again, and in my mind that alone is worth four stars. read more

The atmosphere is really good for sports and drinks but the food isn't very good. I ordered a medium done burger and it came so over done it was hard to chew. The bread was burnt and it seemed like they forgot to put the sauce. It wasn't even busy at the time. I wonder what the food would taste like during a rush. read more

Great location for a quick bite before the game, or for those of us that live in Channelside. The food is good, but nothing really stands out. Burgers are good, and the environment is chill. Most of all, I would look at this place as a local bar for people living in the area, especially since parking is really bad here, unless you live in one of the apartment buildings here. I really wish I could write one of my long and detailed reviews for District Tavern, but I have to say the brevity of this review kinda sums it up. The owner, Beverly Benjamin, is extremely uneducated regarding service animals. While I've been to District Tavern before with my service dog, Friday night I was verbally accosted by the owner and demand to leave. The bar staff were very apologetic for the encounter. District Tavern just opened a week ago in the Channelside District. The hockey BFF and I decided to go on Christmas Eve, so we were served Complimentary Egg Nog Shots...or shall I say "I" ha ha. The interior is gorgeous with plenty of seating and tables. There are purse hooks and USB/Electrical Outlets beneath the bar itself so you never have to fear your cell phone battery dying while watching the game or grabbing a bite. Ryan, Josh, and the rest of the staff were very friendly and attentive and you could sense their excitement for District Tavern. We tried the Herbed Bean Spread and the Bourbon BBQ Wings, which were both equally good. The full menu debuts this Monday (12/28) and I can't wait to go back any try it. Solid brunch and very friendly service. My boy Jask was in the building this morning spinning some fresh House tunes during the brunch hours, so we headed out to the 813 to support the cause. Carolina was our server and she was a real doll. Her communication skills were on point, making her a top-notch bartender in my opinion. She offered us a bottle of champagne for $20 to assist in saving money, so we jumped on the deal. There was a mimosa bar with juices and berries so that drinks could be personalized. For brunch, La Chica and I split a country skillet and biscuit, all of which was very tasty. We were not very hungry, so the split portion was perfect. Despite there being a large party of 20, our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The place is small and there is no outdoor area, but the vibes were still good.
