Came her to get my eyebrows waxed by Tam after reading all the raving reviews on yelp. Tam is a wonderful girl who is upbeat and loves what she does. I was able to make an appointment the following day. The day if, I ran into a little traffic so I called to let her know I'd be 10 mins late. When I arrived, she was more than kind to me which I really appreciated. I let her know that it's my first time and she made sure I was comfortable. The waxing itself did not hurt at all. Tam was very gentle and my eyebrows looked amazing! The whole process took about 20 mins cause she likes to really perfect her work. No rush here! The only negative thoughts I have is that after I got home I noticed that a piece if my eyelid was waxed off. It burned a little but healed in two days. Overall, I would go back to Tam again. Hopefully next time there well be no burns read more

EYEBROWS w/ TAM: After 2 months of growing my brows out, I spent about 20 minutes in search of finding the perfect brow artist for me. Let me start off by saying I am a firm believer of "eyebrows make or break your face", I CARE ABOUT MY BROWS, sadly I'm not one of the rare few that can pull off the over grown American Apparel brows. I've been getting my brows done for a 3 years now and i've gone to low end to high end salons near and far. From Megan Fox's brow gal, ziba beauty, benefit brows, browhaus (pasadena), and even the new hype Kelley Baker Brows. Paying from $12-60 I was so desperate to find the one :( ANYWAY: Tam is the only brow artist i've been satisfied with, and when I say satisfied I mean not only with her work but the overall experience I received. It was my first time here and I called an hour in advance to book an appointment with her. She's very friendly and welcoming, and to be honest I could feel like it was true because you can feel it. Not like the other places i've been to where it seems like you're just another client and you hardly exist once you're in their chair. (I hate that)( SO AWKWARD) Tam made me feel comfortable and and we talked the whole time I was there, YAY. She asked me how I wanted my brows done, which is a question i've never been asked before from any brow artist. I told her to do what she thought was best and to be honest it was turned out looking almost exactly as much as I paid ($40-60) at Kelley Baker Brows, I ended up paying $18 ( UM COME UP) She waxed then plucked my brows and gave me tips on how my brow should fit my face, after that she proceeded to fill them in with Urban Decay's Brow Box which I thought was cool because I always wanted to try it. She spent more time on me than she normally would any other client because I was new so I appreciated that. All in all, I will be definitely coming back to see if she can take my brows to perfection like i've been longing for. COME VISIT GUYS/GIRLS it'll be worth your time and money! which is precious. I know, it's weird. Guys are not supposed to write reviews of 'salons'. I drive a Miata too, so get over it already. Anyway, love this place. I can't understand why I don't see more guys in here. Kim has been cutting my hair for a couple years now, and she is really, really good at what she does. I hate changing barbers almost as much as I hate changing dentists, so when I tried this place on the recommendation of a friend it was with great trepidation. When I walked in and saw Kim, I figured she could shave my head and I'd still have a good day, that's how pretty this girl is. To my surprise though, she is at least as good as the 400 lb guy I had cutting my hair for the 10 years prior to this. The fact that I want to follow her home like a lost puppy is just icing on the cake! The other girls in this place are all very friendly, and also very pretty too. I've never felt too out of place, but I can't say it's a manly man kinda atmosphere. There is one guy cutting hair here, but I don't know how good he is. If I'm going to have a guy cut my hair, I'm not paying 30 bucks. OK, so the bottom line. Great haircut, friendly, competent staff, stunning stylists. Spent 18 dollars only to have Tam rush me out. She literally spent 5 minutes on my brows..mostly drawing them with powder which then melted off. She had another client after me who was constantly staring so Tam made me leave quickly. I felt very disrespected especially for paying 18 dollars for 5 minutes of her working on my eyebrows!! I'm very picky about the salons I go to, and I've tried just about every place you can think of. They are all very friendly here, but as far as color goes, I was not impressed. I had my roots touched up here since my usual salon is normally booked far in advance, and my roots were looking so bad I couldn't stand to wait any longer. Before I had gone to this salon, I would always get compliments on the color. The stylist that I had here ended up changing the color completely by toning the rest of my hair. When I went back to my old salon, they had to do a lot of fixing by lifting the color and then using two different toners to correct it. I wouldn't say exactly that it was the stylist's fault, since it did look okay when I was inside the salon. From all my experiences in salons, lighting is a huge factor in how your hair will turn out, and since I hadn't strayed from my usual salon in a long time, I had forgotten this. So the moral of the story is: if you ever try a new salon, make sure that the lighting inside is a natural daylight color, and not dim or too yellow, or check the color as soon as you walk outside. If not, you may be surprised to find out that your hair may be a completely different color than what you saw inside of the salon. Also, if you have a good stylist, he/she will always make sure that your color works with your skin tone and doesn't wash you out. If you're blessed to have found a stylist that is this meticulous, don't go elsewhere! read more

I love Laura at Diva Salon! She has made a huge difference in my life (the life of my hair that is!). I cant believe it has been 10 years that I have been going there to have Laura do my hair. She is a coloring expert (and she gives great cuts too) and she is always entertaining with her stories that can make your life seem very normal! Diva has a great atmosphere, fun artwork and colors on the walls, friendly receptionists, coffee, water and sometimes they even give out fun snacks (WINE!) too! They also have a manicurist who can give you a mani/pedi while you are getting your hair done. Overall I love Diva, but I love Laura even more! She never lets me down and she can always make me feel like a million bucks when I walk out with one of her blow-outs! read more

Came back for a touch up with Tam... She still does a great job shaping brows but it seems like her waxing skills aren't super amazing. My hairs grew back super quickly, maybe in like a couple days, which makes me think she broke a lot of hairs rather than pulling them out cleanly. Don't get me wrong, she still shapes brows really well, but I can't afford to keep coming back for touch ups every week! I'll go back to tweezing my own brows. read more

If I could give this salon 0 stars, I would! It appears that all of the good reviews on here are for Tam's eyebrow waxing. And I have nothing to say about that since I didn't get my eyebrows done here, but instead received the absolute WORST haircut of my entire life!!!! I had recently had a series of unsatisfying hair experiences at other salons and was really shooting in the dark by going here. I should have trusted my instincts and turned around the moment I walked in the door. But instead I willingly sat into the butcher's chair. I had a picture of the look I was going for, and we talked about it for several minutes and I thought we were on the same page. I had long hair, middle of the back, with long grown out layers. I wanted to add subtle peek-a-boo highlights to the under layers of my hair and have the layers cut back in. I stated multiple times that I didn't want to go very dark at all and to keep the highlights looking very natural with not much contrast and not too chunky. I ended with skunk streaks and a mullet!!!! I am not even joking. He cut my hair into a mullet! One short layer ending at the base of my skull, in the darkest chocolate brown shade. And one long layer hanging below reaching to the middle of my back, also dark chocolate brown streaked with chunky platinum blonde strands. No blending, no fading, no transition. Just a horrible dark, streaked, blunt cut mullet that was such a far cry from what I asked for I was literally in complete shock as I walked out of there. The next day I had yet another stylist from another salon attempt to salvage my hair and cut more layers into this mullet. She did the best she could but I still HATE my hair, it's horrible! It's an absolute shame and it will take me at least a year to even out the damage he has done. Aside from the abomination of a hair style I left with, the other stylist working there was taking a nap laying across the hair drying machines! And the man who cut my hair was unfriendly and never even thanked me when I left or said two words to me the entire time he was working on me, other than when we initially discussed the style. Overall, this was the WORST salon experience I have EVER had and the worst hair cut I have ever had! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

This review is strictly for Tam because I have never tried any other service at Diva. She is the BEST eyebrow shaper/waxer there is!! I have very thick bushy eyebrows that have hair growing in the most awkward angles. I've been on a hunt for the perfect waxer in oc ever since I was in jr. high and finally found her last year at the Benefit eyebrow bar in south coast plaza. When I found out she had left I was seriously distraught. I tried another lady at the Benefit eyebrow bar only to leave PISSED because she ruined the shape Tam finally perfected. After months of anger over my brows I finally did an intense Google search for Tam and finally located her at Diva Salon. I almost jumped out of my chair in the middle of class. She knows what she's doing and has the skills needed for any type of eyebrow. She is the most thorough and will spend time getting the difficult fine hairs that other people might leave in. Eyebrows with Tam: I've gone to a few places to get my eyebrows done and I seem to have an issue with all of them. My eyebrows would either come out too thin or too arched, which makes me look mad all the time. One day, my eyebrows were getting a bit out of hand and found Tam. First she trims your eyebrows, then she applies wax to your eyebrows with a thin wooden applicator. Afterwards, she'll pluck all the loose strands. She keeps your brows full, without looking bushy. Tam gives the best brow shaping and is consistently great every time. It's easy to make appointments, so give a call! read more

Tam is amazing at eyebrow shaping as everyone says. I booked an appointment by texting her, so make sure you contact her directly or ask for an appointment with Tam Tran. I had gotten it threaded a couple weeks ago and now it is too thin and too arched. I came here to get it fixed, and Tam was very thorough. It will take a couple months to grow back and reshape but I trust Tam. It was my first time waxing and I didn't say anything because I trusted her due to such amazing reviews and didn't mind waxing or threading. I didn't feel a thing! She took about half an hour to shape, wax, and pluck my eyebrows and she explained areas where she left hair to allow it to grow. I also got my upper lip waxed and it hurt, but Tam was very gentle. I have been seeing Tam for 6 months. I went here because my bridesmaid referred me and I splurged just to have nice eyebrows for my wedding but after the first time, I could not go back to having my normal eyebrows. $18 is a bit pricey but even being the cheapass that I am, I think it is worth it. You're paying for consistent perfection. Tam is amazing. She gives you advice on what the best shape is for your face and she pays close attention to every hair on your eyebrow. She's so good... I went to Benefit once for my free eyebrow wax and she used to work there; just by looking at the shape of my eyebrow, she guessed who waxed it AND she was correct. Call or text Tam and make your appointment. Don't be late because she only takes clients that are ON TIME. If your appointment will run into another clients, she'll have you wait until the next available appointment. Each appointment usually runs around 15 minutes. I also like that she waxes you in a chair so you don't have to climb onto the facial bed, you're just sitting in a hair styling chair; it's much more convenient. read more

Tam is amazing for eyebrow shaping! Been going to her for a year and a half now and I am blown away at the transformation. She's gentle, quick and friendly. Unlike the rest of the mane on the top of my head, my eyebrow hair grows at a snail pace. Argg!!! Aggravation!! Tam from the Benefit Brow Bar at Macys just started here last week! Ive been seeing her for a few years at Macys/Benefit and today I went to see her at her new place. The salon is nice, pretty, friendly, clean and seems like a much more comfortable place to get your brows done. No one shilling you makeup every 5 seconds and frankly, its much more professional but laid back and certainly more private than getting them done in the middle of a busy cosmetics department! They seem to have a really good menu of services and I will definitely be trying other services here! I'm looking forward it! 18 for brows, 7 for lip, and shes still the sweetest girl ever! Just discovered this salon.... If your looking for the best place to get your eyebrows waxed, please take my advice and come here and have Tam do them for you. She is the absolute best! Tam has been doing my eyebrows for about six years now, and let me tell you she is the only person allowed to touch mine, I've mad the mistake of allowing a few others to do so when I was in desperate need when Tam wasnt around, and she is well worth the wait. She can shape eyebrows perfectly, and believe me mine are not easy because they are thick! She is the sweetest and most friendliest person you will ever meet. As far as the salon goes it is very clean, the rest of the staff seemed very friendly, I was in a rush when I went in for my first time so I didnt get a chance to see what they have to offer but I will be here twice a month to do my brows! TAM IS THE BEST. Like most people.. this review is mostly for her. I went to her when she was at the Benefit counter and still come to her at Diva Salon because of her great work. My mom has been taking me to her for over 6 years and I will continue going as long as I can. You cant trust everyone with your eyebrows because once they mess up,,, those hairs are gone! Thats something I dont have to worry about with Tam. Shell do it right the first time and shes patient. She doesnt rush and has a good eye for how to shape your brows to match your face. Prices are right, especially for the work done. I travel fairly far to get them done by her and its worth the drive. Also I suggest booking an appointment if you are going to see Tam. She can get pretty busy, but shes time oriented and will be with you on schedule. As for the rest of the salon. They have never given me negative service. They always ask if I need anything else done when I see Tam, just in case. Also they are always friendly, even if I decline. My two daughters recommended Tam for eyebrow shaping - and wow they were right. Having moved here 7 months ago from north OC, I was trying to do my own brows but they had become pretty bad. After they researched who had the "touch" when it comes to eyebrows, they are now regulars with Tam. They were so happy with Tam's work and insisted I go nowhere else, only to Tam. She fit me into her schedule that day. She took my uneven, unshaped brows and skillfully worked them. She has a great eye as to the brow shape your face needs. The waxing was not painful, even the plucking wasn't bad, She has a soft touch and she doesn't rush, she took her time. Now I'll be regularly going to Tam.
