My wife and I ate there on 5/22 and started by sharing the pear salad. When it arrived, I thought the waiter misunderstood me and brought us two salads combined into one bowl. The salad was excellent, the goat cheese was very creamy, it had a good amount of pear and candy bookmarks. It was also a lot of salad for two people! My wife ordered the chicken piccata. The meal was very tasty, it came with a good sized side of spaghetti and some mixed vegetables. The only surprise here was that it had mushrooms in it which she does not like. I've never, ever, seen chicken piccata come with mushrooms, but we did go back and look at the menu and saw that it referred to them. Partially our fault for missing that (although she selected from the waiter's list of house favorites), but my wife had asked five minutes before ordering about a different dish and whether it could be made without mushrooms. A good waiter would have pointed out that the Picata came with mushrooms when she ordered. She scrape them off rather than sending it back because we didn't want to wait, and she did enjoy the meal. I was surprised that the waiter didn't say anything about the scraped off pile of mushrooms on her bread plate. Again, a good waiter would have said something. I ordered the marscapone pasta. It came with a huge amount of chicken and shrimp and the sauce was a very nice light creamy sauce. I can eat a lot, and I took some of this home. For dessert, I ordered the special of the day blackberries in a white chocolate cream of some sort that was actually more of a pie. It was only meh, without a lot of flavor and I wouldn't order it again. My wife ordered the chocolate brownie which was excellent. And huge. It came with a scoop of ice cream and was warmed. What an incredible disappointment. My wife and I had heard positive feedback. So we decided to try this restaurant. We got an 8:15 reservation on 3/2, but arrived at least an hour early. The hostess stand was a hot mess, but nothing compared to the bar. We checked in, but since we were so early, we decided to go to the bar and have some wine and perhaps an app. We immediately got two seats at the bar, and waited and waited and waited. There were two young men working the bar, and neither wanted to make eye contact with us even though there were only a few customers seated at the bar. After the longest 15 minutes ever, I got one of their attention and asked for a wine menu. Got it, ordered wine which came a few minutes later. We asked for menus since we intended to order an appetizer, but it took so long for the bartender to come back, we passed on the app. I'd give the bar/ bartenders 0 stars! We almost left, but decided to stay and eat. The food service was ok, but the food was fair at best. Very disappointing for us after hearing so much positive feedback. read more

I suspect this is not a chain restaurant but sure feels and looks like one. We even commented it was decorated like a Ted's Montana Grill. Service was okay. But for our first visit to this restaurant, the waiter was efficient but not highly informative. My companion felt it was dumbed down Italian. I felt it was too gimmicky. The wine list was okay but really didn't have any midlevel wines available. Nothing special. I did like that they offer a carafe (equal to 2-3 glasses) vs one glass or a full bottle. The burrata was okay, but could have used far better tomatoes, which were hard and pale. I can get better tomatoes at the grocer. Entrees were good. My companion had the skirt steak, all was good except the mushrooms which he felt should have been incorporated into the sauce. I had the grouper scampi, which was very good. It came with a huge portion of fettuccine, too big to finish. No table side prep for that. Which gets back to the gimmicks and the fact we knew nothing until we saw another tables order. read more

I love this restaurant. I ordered the chicken Madeira. I was hoping it would be as good as the former Bices restaurant. It was delicious. Chicken was tender and generous portions. I asked for extra sauce and my waiter Kevin remembered. His service was outstanding. They even accommodated me when I asked for extra sauce to take home with my leftovers. (If you haven't guessed, I like extra sauce). My only complaint is how noisy the restaurant is. It was difficult to speak with my guest as we weren't able to hear each other. Not an auspicious beginning but very quickly morphed into a pleasant evening with all the expected quality of well prepared Italian food. Excellent crusty loaf with chewy warm interior, great fresh house salad properly dressed. My entre was a house specialty ruota do parmagiana involving a huge round of Parmesan cheese hollowed out. The cheese is scraped and then blended with creamy linguini. Delicious! My wife had their gnocchi which were properly light and pillowy as they are when made correctly. Reasonable wine list and nice macchiato to end the meal. All in, good Italian done right!! read more

First time dining here. They opened in May 2017. We are foodies who are looking at the total experience. Our server Alejandra was very personable and attentive. I had the Blackened Chicken Pasta which was very flavorful and huge. My husband had the Mushroom Pasta dish which was too heavy on the mushrooms. The cocktails were overpriced compared to almost everywhere else . Cost of wine was ok. Lighting was harsh at the table but limited in other areas. Booths were elevated which made the dining experience more enjoyable. Bread was warm and fresh but the olive oil had a lingering bitter aftertaste. Thank you for the offer, however, the hour wait was NOT to be seated. We were seated promptly. The over hour wait was for our dinner! My husband ordered lasagna and I ordered fettuccine. Not complicated! Then when we received the food, it was cold! Just wanted to post an update. Very quickly after I posted my review I was sent a message apologizing for my experience. Then a day later I received a phone call from Alfredo (top boss). He couldn't of been nicer. He completely understood Where I was coming from and repeatedly apologized for the behavior of the store manager. Listened to all the things I had to say. Even offered to have any and all of the people at our table for a free meal at any of their restaurants at any time. I told him that was absolutely not necessary He said they were looking into the issues and would remedy the issue immediately. I assured him over and over again that this had nothing to do with our food (which was very good) or the experience we had when at the restaurant (which was top notch service). It was really my displeasure with store manager after the fact. I would def go back if I lived in Florida or if they ever come to NY. Alfredo definitely made this bad situation RIGHT. Divieto specializes in pasta and customer service. I was very impressed with all staff-- from hostess to waitress and even the bussers. We were able to be seated without a reservation, very accommodating. We ordered the gnocchi, fiocchi (pear, cheese and candied walnuts--- oh my god!) and their house specialty, fettuccini alfredo. All of it was full of intense flavors and delicious, full bodied sauces. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, the only thing I would not recommend. It was heavily breaded and not very flavorful, but everything else about this experience gives Divieto a solid 5 stars. Oh, and did I mention they also have a live Italian singer? read more

This is just an average restaurant. The menu is quite expansive for those seeking variety. We found pasta over cooked, under salted and very ordinary. Once the server got to us she was pleasant. The wine list was fairly priced but extremely limited. We would not hurry back. The front of house manager offered an engaged and very personal greeting and send off as we left. Our first time here was mediocre. The food was excellent and we got the table side fettuccine Alfredo but the presentation was lacking and she did not perform it the way the other servers did at other tables, telling us about the history of the cheese wheel. I know that sounds mundane but it wouldn't have been had we received better service in general. Upon entering the restaurant, which I'll give that it was quite busy at 8pm on a Friday, we were given an exaggerated glance and eye roll from the front hostess. It did not improve when we got to her and asked how long the wait was. We were polite and friendly, understanding that she was probably overwhelmed and tired and that the people down here can be less than peachy to deal with, and we still received attitude from her. She told us thirty ish minutes wait time, which wasn't the problem. My fiancé asked "thirty ish?" And she replayed "uh yeah, thats what I said." As she rolled her eyes like we asked a stupid question. Yes, we are stupid because you were vague and inexplicit. We brushed it off and sat down with our party and were called up within 20 minutes which was wonderful. However our waitress was hardly thrilled to be working and presented herself in a way that said " I don't really care, I'm just here so I don't get fired". Again, we tried to remind ourselves it was a very busy Friday night but the service she provided was only okay but not what I would have expected for our $170.00 bill. Overall the food was great but the staff was mediocre at best. Maybe they just needed more breaks or something. I was not impressed and am quite disappointed. We had heard great things about the place and had hoped to book our rehearsal dinner there but I think we will be choosing a different location that has staff that doesn't make the customer feel like an inconvenience. read more

First off, let me preface this review with my wife and I are huge foodies and collect/drink fine wines; we have dined all over the world at some of the finest restaurants -- don't mean to come across snobby, just knowledgeable and experienced. Prior to coming to Divieto's, I read most of the Tripadivsor and Yelp reviews -- so, I am very curious to eventually try the seemingly universally hated meatballs (and spaghetti); Anyway, on with the review; we sat on the patio, which was pleasant enough, but I will say Bice's patio was more open and inviting. We started with the Tropical Tuna tartar appetizer, which was just "ok" in my mind -- we have had countless Tuna Tartar dishes, and I would rank this one a 6/10. First, some of the tuna pieces were slightly "fishy", and it was a little light on the mango/citrus; it also could have benefited with some light crispy wontons, or crunchy flatbread pieces. My wife ordered the Toscana pizza, which she ranked an 8.5/10 and enjoyed very much; also it was much larger than anticipated. I ordered the Lemon Butter Sea Bass served with creamy risotto and sautéed veggies; it was very good (9/10 rating); sea bass cooked just right, and veggies were a tad over-cooked, but tasty nonetheless; the risotto was very good and a nice complement to the sea bass. So, all in all, a great first experience so far... I will say that it took a little long in my mind for our entrees to be served after ordering (20+ mins); especially considering it was on a Thursday afternoon at 2:30pm, and the place was nearly empty -- but that's a nit. Now, here comes the "zinger" -- since it's now 3:30, and HH starts at 3pm, we thought to ourselves, let's checkout the HH for future reference. Very disappointing HH (rank a 2/10) overall. First off, I wanted to order a beer (HH draft beers are 1/2 off), so I wanted a Peroni (1 of 6 beers on tap; all normally $5 each); and the bartender (Jude), said, all draft beers 1/2 off, "except" Peroni. To which I replied, "so, why is that, all your draft beers are normally priced at $5, why not Peroni"? To which he replied (after trying to dismiss a very perplexed expression)... "ah... because it's Italian"? I said "huh?!", and decided that this conversation is going to be a battle of one of us being unarmed -- so I let it go. Two more HH dings; 1) wine HH is 1/2 off just their house wines (which are bottom of the barrel Sycamore Lane vineyards -- $5-6/bottle at Total Wine) that they normally overcharge at $8/glass, so the HH $4 price is just under what you can get for a bottle, and it's all pretty horrid (why would an aspiring upper end Italian restaurant do this??). And lastly (almost), the HH menu is extremely limited, and not all that appealing. Finally, the bar seats (and bar itself) were all preset with placemats, and full place settings, like it was ready for a "state dinner"; big turn off for a causal expectation to belly up for a fun HH experience. If Divieto's wants to compete for a very competitive SWFL HH market, it has to scrap everything they are doing and redo it... otherwise, the only benefit will be they can say, "yeah, we have a HH" -- which people will quickly learn to skip. read more

This place was awesome! I had taken my son down to Fort Meyers for a last minute mini vacation around the middle of July 2019 before school started back up... We're from the Tampa Bay area, so when I booked our reservations with the hotel I googled places to eat in the area before we went. I was looking for a good Italian restaurant for one of our nights stay. Divieto Ristorante was about a 30 minute drive from our hotel on the beach, however, it did NOT disappoint. The food here is amazing!! We tried the Shrimp Scampi Pizza for an appetizer... UNBELIEVABLE!!! It was AMAZING!! My son ordered the Lobster Ravioli... which came with part of a lobster tail as a garnish. He said that it was AMAZING too! I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with a side of grilled vegetables... they toss the fettuccine noodles in this huge wheel of Reggiano Parmigiano?! It was a rich, thick and creamy awesome goodness!! And, even the grilled vegetables were cooked to perfection. Everything from the service to the food was amazing here... looking forward to going back soon! Well, of all the Italian places I've been to (and I'm an Italian Chef), this is one of the worst. Ever hear of "less is more"? There are so many things included on some of their dishes (Chicken Piccata does NOT have mushrooms & artichokes on it-just call it something else!), to the Jicama tacos & tuna tartar, which are never on Any Italian menu (ever been to Italy??), I just cannot justify going here. Check out all the great Italian places in Bonita Springs (Molino's & more) to Naples (Campiello, Alberto's, Barbatella, Bar Tulia, Bice, Sea Salt, etc!) and Divieto cannot hold a candle to them. read more
