Excellent experience! We went for lunch July 4th so it was very quiet but the service and food were still on point. Casual, yet elegant atmosphere, prompt service and the food was delicious. Bread was served, drinks refreshed and salads appropriately timed before entrees. Salad that was included w my lunch entree was so good and so large that I had to box 3/4 of my entree (chicken avocado sandwich special)! I visited DiVieto yesterday for their soft opening by invitation, thank you Bri! My two buddies and I were blown away. The ambiance was very unique, from the white and black checkered floors to the waiters wearing suspenders to the open kitchen and area concept. We started with some specialty cocktails along with an appetizer, jicama tacos, which were served cold on what seemed to be jicama shells. Inside was cold krab salad, avocado and garnished with some micro greens. This was served with a sweet soy which enhanced the flavor! Excellent. Then we were served 4 entrees. Risotto Di Mare, Chicken Marsala, Kalamata and Prosciutto pizza and specialty Shrimp Alfredo. All were great, some of the absolute best pizza I've had and the noddles with the Marsala had to of been house made. Devine! All were very flavorful, but my favorite was the specialty Shrimp Alfredo because of the presentation which really added to the overall experience. They pulled up a cart with a humungous 2 year aged parmigiano-reggiano wheel and composed this dish table side. What an experience! They used two large spoons to scrape a sample for the table to try this wonderful cheese. They continued to scrape a little over 2oz of cheese in the middle of the wheel, then they pulled the hot pasta with Alfredo sauce from a pot and mixed it right on top of the wheel. They then dished it and added the hot shrimp on top. Amazing! We finished with a chocolate brownie with ice cream. It had a wonderful presentation and was delightful. Make sure to get an espresso, cappuccino or coffee, they were superb. Another great addition to the experience was that every manager stopped over to the table to ask how everything was. Made us feel very special to get that kind of attention. They genuinely care, unlike most places. There is no other Italian restaurant like DiVieto, hats off to whole crew of this establishment. Food was excellent, service was awful. We arrived for dinner to a lovely restaurant atmosphere that was filled to about half capacity. We were promptly seated and given water but after that, the service took a dive. We waited 15-20 minutes to place a drink order and then waited 15-20 additional minutes to receive our wine and beer. Our waiter was lacking in personality and suggestions. Long story short, we had to ask for bread for our kids that were very hungry after waiting about 30-40 minutes after placing our order, to receive our entrees. Our waiter then disappeared for some time then we were greeted by a replacement stating our original server, PAUL, had a family emergency. That would have been acceptable except that he continued to be in great spirits laughing and carrying on about 15 feet from our table with the manager. We had a coupon for a free drink which apparently was quite a challenge to overcome in adjusting the bill. When our replacement waiter finally returned with our check, 20 minutes after requesting it, absolutely nothing was said about the service other than that the kitchen was slow, but no apologies. He just emphasized that the drink was taken off (for the "free drink card" we had shown them upon arrival). This may have been the reason we were treated so poorly, but don't hand out free drink cards if you will be offended when customers try to use them! It's very disappointing that the manager was clearly aware of the kitchen being so slow and yet never came to our table and was joking around with Paul after he ditched our table. Had dinner here on an early Friday night. Server was friendly, outgoing, and informative. She suggested that we start off with the calamari which is lightly fried and served with two dipping sauces...very good and light. Bread appears from a passing server..service is top notch you don't have to ask it comes in a timely manner and hot. I ordered the Grouper Scampi a nice piece of fish nestled in a delicious creamy sauce exactly as specified in the menu. Unfortunately my husbands tuna cannibal was so overpowered with soy sauce I could smell it when it arrived to the table... the menu states that its served in a garlic olive oil sauce tuna with a blend of spices, scallions and butter....hmmm where did that soy sauce come from?? It was loaded with sodium whoever was in the kitchen took his own take on this dish..so as a warning be sure to ask when ordering this dish. We did make a comment to our server and told her about it..I was celebrating my birthday and my husband didn't want to make a big deal about it so he ate his dinner. We certainly enjoyed our visit and will return sometime. read more

Huge servings if the first thing of note. You will take home leftovers! This isn't a good thing if the food isn't good as well. Fortunately at Divieto it is very good. My wife and I ate there on 5/22 and started by sharing the pear salad. When it arrived, I thought the waiter misunderstood me and brought us two salads combined into one bowl. The salad was excellent, the goat cheese was very creamy, it had a good amount of pear and candy bookmarks. It was also a lot of salad for two people! My wife ordered the chicken piccata. The meal was very tasty, it came with a good sized side of spaghetti and some mixed vegetables. The only surprise here was that it had mushrooms in it which she does not like. I've never, ever, seen chicken piccata come with mushrooms, but we did go back and look at the menu and saw that it referred to them. Partially our fault for missing that (although she selected from the waiter's list of house favorites), but my wife had asked five minutes before ordering about a different dish and whether it could be made without mushrooms. A good waiter would have pointed out that the Picata came with mushrooms when she ordered. She scrape them off rather than sending it back because we didn't want to wait, and she did enjoy the meal. I was surprised that the waiter didn't say anything about the scraped off pile of mushrooms on her bread plate. Again, a good waiter would have said something. I ordered the marscapone pasta. It came with a huge amount of chicken and shrimp and the sauce was a very nice light creamy sauce. I can eat a lot, and I took some of this home. For dessert, I ordered the special of the day blackberries in a white chocolate cream of some sort that was actually more of a pie. It was only meh, without a lot of flavor and I wouldn't order it again. My wife ordered the chocolate brownie which was excellent. And huge. It came with a scoop of ice cream and was warmed. What an incredible disappointment. My wife and I had heard positive feedback. So we decided to try this restaurant. We got an 8:15 reservation on 3/2, but arrived at least an hour early. The hostess stand was a hot mess, but nothing compared to the bar. We checked in, but since we were so early, we decided to go to the bar and have some wine and perhaps an app. We immediately got two seats at the bar, and waited and waited and waited. There were two young men working the bar, and neither wanted to make eye contact with us even though there were only a few customers seated at the bar. After the longest 15 minutes ever, I got one of their attention and asked for a wine menu. Got it, ordered wine which came a few minutes later. We asked for menus since we intended to order an appetizer, but it took so long for the bartender to come back, we passed on the app. I'd give the bar/ bartenders 0 stars! We almost left, but decided to stay and eat. The food service was ok, but the food was fair at best. Very disappointing for us after hearing so much positive feedback. read more

I suspect this is not a chain restaurant but sure feels and looks like one. We even commented it was decorated like a Ted's Montana Grill. Service was okay. But for our first visit to this restaurant, the waiter was efficient but not highly informative. My companion felt it was dumbed down Italian. I felt it was too gimmicky. The wine list was okay but really didn't have any midlevel wines available. Nothing special. I did like that they offer a carafe (equal to 2-3 glasses) vs one glass or a full bottle. The burrata was okay, but could have used far better tomatoes, which were hard and pale. I can get better tomatoes at the grocer. Entrees were good. My companion had the skirt steak, all was good except the mushrooms which he felt should have been incorporated into the sauce. I had the grouper scampi, which was very good. It came with a huge portion of fettuccine, too big to finish. No table side prep for that. Which gets back to the gimmicks and the fact we knew nothing until we saw another tables order. read more

I love this restaurant. I ordered the chicken Madeira. I was hoping it would be as good as the former Bices restaurant. It was delicious. Chicken was tender and generous portions. I asked for extra sauce and my waiter Kevin remembered. His service was outstanding. They even accommodated me when I asked for extra sauce to take home with my leftovers. (If you haven't guessed, I like extra sauce). My only complaint is how noisy the restaurant is. It was difficult to speak with my guest as we weren't able to hear each other. Not an auspicious beginning but very quickly morphed into a pleasant evening with all the expected quality of well prepared Italian food. Excellent crusty loaf with chewy warm interior, great fresh house salad properly dressed. My entre was a house specialty ruota do parmagiana involving a huge round of Parmesan cheese hollowed out. The cheese is scraped and then blended with creamy linguini. Delicious! My wife had their gnocchi which were properly light and pillowy as they are when made correctly. First time dining here. They opened in May 2017. We are foodies who are looking at the total experience. Our server Alejandra was very personable and attentive. I had the Blackened Chicken Pasta which was very flavorful and huge. My husband had the Mushroom Pasta dish which was too heavy on the mushrooms. The cocktails were overpriced compared to almost everywhere else . Cost of wine was ok. Lighting was harsh at the table but limited in other areas. Booths were elevated which made the dining experience more enjoyable. Bread was warm and fresh but the olive oil had a lingering bitter aftertaste. Just wanted to post an update. Very quickly after I posted my review I was sent a message apologizing for my experience. Then a day later I received a phone call from Alfredo (top boss). He couldn't of been nicer. He completely understood Where I was coming from and repeatedly apologized for the behavior of the store manager. Listened to all the things I had to say. Even offered to have any and all of the people at our table for a free meal at any of their restaurants at any time. I told him that was absolutely not necessary He said they were looking into the issues and would remedy the issue immediately. I assured him over and over again that this had nothing to do with our food (which was very good) or the experience we had when at the restaurant (which was top notch service). It was really my displeasure with store manager after the fact. I would def go back if I lived in Florida or if they ever come to NY. Alfredo definitely made this bad situation RIGHT. Divieto specializes in pasta and customer service. I was very impressed with all staff-- from hostess to waitress and even the bussers. We were able to be seated without a reservation, very accommodating. We ordered the gnocchi, fiocchi (pear, cheese and candied walnuts--- oh my god!) and their house specialty, fettuccini alfredo. All of it was full of intense flavors and delicious, full bodied sauces. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, the only thing I would not recommend. It was heavily breaded and not very flavorful, but everything else about this experience gives Divieto a solid 5 stars. Oh, and did I mention they also have a live Italian singer? read more

This is just an average restaurant. The menu is quite expansive for those seeking variety. We found pasta over cooked, under salted and very ordinary. Once the server got to us she was pleasant. Our first time here was mediocre. The food was excellent and we got the table side fettuccine Alfredo but the presentation was lacking and she did not perform it the way the other servers did at other tables, telling us about the history of the cheese wheel. I know that sounds mundane but it wouldn't have been had we received better service in general. Upon entering the restaurant, which I'll give that it was quite busy at 8pm on a Friday, we were given an exaggerated glance and eye roll from the front hostess. It did not improve when we got to her and asked how long the wait was. We were polite and friendly, understanding that she was probably overwhelmed and tired and that the people down here can be less than peachy to deal with, and we still received attitude from her. She told us thirty ish minutes wait time, which wasn't the problem. My fiancé asked "thirty ish?" And she replayed "uh yeah, thats what I said." As she rolled her eyes like we asked a stupid question. Yes, we are stupid because you were vague and inexplicit. We brushed it off and sat down with our party and were called up within 20 minutes which was wonderful. However our waitress was hardly thrilled to be working and presented herself in a way that said " I don't really care, I'm just here so I don't get fired". Again, we tried to remind ourselves it was a very busy Friday night but the service she provided was only okay but not what I would have expected for our $170.00 bill. Overall the food was great but the staff was mediocre at best. Maybe they just needed more breaks or something. I was not impressed and am quite disappointed. We had heard great things about the place and had hoped to book our rehearsal dinner there but I think we will be choosing a different location that has staff that doesn't make the customer feel like an inconvenience. read more
