For some reason it's a hit or miss with this place. My bf and I come quite often, but the last time, the pizza was NOT worth $16 to me...plus the tip and taxes included. This is my go to place for a once in a while special treat or that moment in life when you want to mark it with a special occasion. This place is consistent and the owner Goren goes out of his way to make an impression and this is why I return. While I don't usually order chicken when I go out, the boneless roasted chicken dish is the best, something you cannot replicate at home, unless you have highly skilled knife skills that can debone a while chicken in one piece. The potatoes are always crispy and the service is impeccable. Everything is spot on. You leave feeling special. I've been a regular at Divino for almost 6 years-and I will NEVER come back again. Every time I've gone, my mother and I have always ordered the same dish, the rigatoni ragu. Today, my mother found pieces of hard, white eggshell-like bits in her pasta, and politely asked owner what they were. He proceeds to become extremely aggressive to her, yelling at me and my family, and accusing us of wanting a "freebie" from his restaurant (which we have never, in the span of six years, EVER asked for), and finishes with "never come back to my restaurant." The food is divine (the osso bucco papparedelle and ricotta with chicken bolognese were so delicious I almost fell out of my chair), the staff is delightful, and the ambience for dinner was just lovely (because of covid, Divino is moving most tables at dinnertime onto the cobblestone sidewalks in their shopping cul de sac, so you get twinkle lights, space heaters, fresh air, and plenty of room between tables. The owner is so kind, and you can clearly see that he has put his heart and soul into this restaurant. The staff is warm and friendly, and the menu is so unique; wonderful pastas and incredible seafood, with creative and elevated specials. Divino is a little hidden gem in Brentwood. Service has been moved outdoors during Covid restrictions, on a quiet cul-de-sac, with little lights illuminating the street, and plenty of heaters to stay warm. The owners greet guests warmly, and have a way of making you feel special. The food is as the restaurant's name suggests, DIVINE! Servers are wonderful. My favorite dishes are the Pasta Bolognese (the BEST I've ever had!), the Gnocchi, and the Grilled Chicken among many other seasonal choices. This was my first -- and last -- time here. Came in on a Friday night. Was seated on a bench that was dirty and full of holes, and was extremely uncomfortable. The maître d' was friendly, but in a patronizing, disingenuous way. Our server was brusque like a Russian KGB agent. They were already out of the special (veal chop) at 7:30 p.m. We called ahead of time and asked if they could accommodate people with a gluten allergy. No problem, they said. Server acted put out when I asked her about gluten-free options. Then she brought my dining companion an amuse bouche and told me, "Sorry, it has bread in it." So I got nothing, while I sat there watching my friend eat. They also brought not one -- but two -- different baskets of bread. Made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. At least put a cherry tomato on a plate or something and bring it to me, not just make me sit there with nothing while bringing other people food I can't eat. I ordered the veggie risotto. What a joke. It tasted like Rice-a-Roni, or some other processed boxed rice you get in a grocery store. It was spread out extremely thin on a big plate to disguise the small portion. My friend had the T-bone steak. He ordered it medium; it came out rare (but he was too polite to say anything). After dinner, I ordered a decaf cappuccino and was clearly given a regular one, judging by the heart palpitations and jitteriness that lasted for hours afterward. To top it off, the valet outside takes forever, doesn't open the doors for his patrons, and seemed drunk when we came out of dinner. The people who give this place five stars are either friends of the owners or are clueless about food and service. We won't be back. read more

The food was fine, but I really didn't like the service at all. I felt unwelcome. First, they sat us in the sun and didn't put up the shade umbrella until about 40 minutes in. Then they took about 15 minutes to bring us our drinks and a menu. There were only two other tables so it wasn't because it was busy. And all we ordered was water and a soda so nothing crazy. The food came out at a timely manner and it was good. Then the waiter picked up my boyfriends plate to put the leftover pizza in a box to go. He accidentally tipped the plate too much when he was picking it up to take it inside and he dropped it onto my boyfriends bag! He just said oh sorry and picked it up and put it back on the plate. I understand accidents happen, but he didn't really seem apologetic or offer to bring him another one or something. There was still 4 slices (half of the pizza) left and he got tomato sauce on the bag and didn't bother to bring a napkin to clean it. That wasn't even the worse part. He then came back to pick up our cups and when he reached over he accidentally pulled on the table cloth and spilled the cup that had soda in it. A bit got on my boyfriends shoes but most of it got on the waiters pants/shoes. He seemed very angry and he just said "ughh.... it's okay" after a moment of shocked silence. He said it's okay as if we had spilled it, he didn't offer an apology for spilling it all over our table and some on my boyfriend. A couple minutes after we asked our waiter for the bill and he said yes. We waited about 30 minutes for the bill and nothing came. There was about 9 tables at this point so I get it was busy, but this is too much. Especially after all we had gone through. And we had to run to the car to put more time on the meter. We asked for the bill again and then it was given to us right away so either the waiter was mad after what happened or he forgot about us. They were so nice to other customers, but I just felt like we were being treated different for some reason. I guess it's a hit or miss because other people seemed to be having a nice time there, but it was definitely not nice for us. I'm giving two stars because that waiter could've been new or having an off day and the pizza was good. read more

It's Christmas Eve, 57 degrees outside, and the restaurant was empty. My family made a reservation on open table and were rudely told by the hostess as we walked in that the only table that she'd have available for us is outside. It's 57 degrees - clearly, she was not interested in seating us. The whole restaurant was white, and I guess we didn't fit the aesthetic. Shame on you for trying to ruin our holiday. read more

We loved coming here because the service and food were excellent, even if the prices were a little over the top. Since we had a child we've been given the cold shoulder in a major way. We used to get seated quickly, not they make us wait. They used to give us an amuse bouche and focaccia on the house, and they still do--when we don't have our child with us!!! It's amazing, like clock work they skip the amuse bouche and focaccia, and give us dirty looks, while our 3 year old acts like, well, a three year old. She's well behaved, but clearly they are sending an explicit message. I called the waiter out on it and he was like "oh you want an amuse bouche?!? why didn't you say so?" I was like... "uhh... you just brought it to the three other tables around us and NOT us... then did the EXACT same thing with the foccacia--and you've done it before." He was a douche about it. read more

Though I used to love this restaurant, I haven't eaten here in over a year due to racist treatment that my girlfriend and I received on our last visit. Unfortunately, we decided to walk-in on a night where the manager wasn't working (and he is quite a friendly, courteous, and hospitable gentleman). We walked up to the host and asked for a table for two. He responded by telling us "your table is ready upstairs to the left." We thought it was strange that he told us to seat ourselves, but nonetheless, we ascended the staircase towards the table he suggested. When we peeped our heads into the sectioned off area, we were greeted by a group of people we were unfamiliar with, sitting around a large table meant for a private party. Then we realized they were all Asian. When we went back downstairs to ask for our own table, the host was already out of sight. Instead, a very friendly waiter seated us and apologized for the mix-up. Unfortunately, this experience left a foul taste in my mouth. I hate to sound like a "bitchy Yelper" but it definitely made me feel like a second-class customer. I may return some day, but there are so many restaurants in LA where I've never suffered such treatment. It's a shame, because I've eaten here probably a dozen times over the past 4 years and have enjoyed each and every meal. read more

I think the worst thing a chef can do when you send overcooked meat back to the kitchen is be spiteful about it, but that's what happened last Friday. I've been a fan of Divino...recommended it to friends, had lunch dates of my own there, but no more. Steak Salad Special. "Medium rare on a bed of arugula." Sounds great. I cut into the filet. Medium well. "Did you say it was to be medium rare or medium well?" I ask the server, sincerely believing that maybe I'd misheard, as it is so obviously overdone. "Medium rare." "Could you please ask the kitchen for a new cut, then? My lunch date and I totally agree that this is medium well." She peers at the meat, turning it over with the fork. "I see a little pink here," she replies. Nu uh. Never argue with the patron about the doneness of the meat. What good does that do? She brings the meat back to the kitchen and comes back 10 minutes later with a new steak salad. The meat is raw. I can barely chew it. I'm sawing away at it with a steak knife, masticating until my jaw hurts, and fuming. I hate to be a serial complainer ("Overcooked!" "Undercooked!"), so I keep my mouth shut this time, but this VERY rare cut is obviously a statement, and it's insulting. Good bye, Divino. You're no longer Divino. read more

I just love this place, even though it's little cramped inside ( hopefully you don't have any large friends and if you do, don't invite them to go with you :) Great food, my favorite dish is gnocchi/white sauce Goran and the staff always make you feel like very important guests, I would recomend to call before you go and make a reservation on any night of the week, waiting area - oops there is no waiting area, again it's very cozy, tiny space, there is seating area upstairs as well and a little cute patio with no smoking, but once again it gets little cramped :( If you park on the street make sure you put money in the meter, they have valet parking as well :)) I love, love, love this place !!! , read more

What a pleasure it is to find an Italian restaurant, which cares so much about little details. what I mean by this, is that Divino has never strayed from it's heart. I have been here 8-9 times over the years and the food is always at the forefront of Adriatic Cuisine. The owner is from Montenegro, and the flavors reflect this. It is always a little nuanced and pure. The Dish I can seem never to forget is the Orchiette with a zucchini sauce. It is light and rich at the same time. It's the kind of pasta dish you eat with bread, to soak up the flavors. The wine pairings are spot on. This place is warm and loving. I feel welcomed home every time I return. One of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food isn't overly complicated, just delicious. Favorites are the divino salad, rigatoni al ragu, the veal, a special that is comprised of delicate pasta stuffed with lobster & vegetables in a light broth, the pizza, and really pretty much everything I've tried. Goran (the handsome, charming, always impeccably dressed owner) is often there to greet you at the door and makes you feel like a 'special' customer. The service is great, and you'll find that the waiters and waitresses are authentically Italian (always a good sign!) Try the rigatoni al ragu - it is THE perfect pasta dish in my opinion. I've gone there with 4 or 5 girlfriends and we literally ALL ordered rigatoni al ragu (it's that good). Also, have the flourless chocolate cake for dessert - it's decadent and the thought of it makes my mouth water. The pizza bread they serve you is scrumptious - so don't fill up on the regular bread they bring you at the start! Its true that there's no place to wait if you arrive before your reservation, so you'll have to squeeze in by the doorway with other waiting diners, but in my experience, everyone is so excited to eat here that they're friendly and not too bothered about it! This place looks nearly identical to Pizzicotto, also in Brentwood, but I'm happy to say the food here is much better. I really suggest this place for a 2 p.m. lunch. Sunlight pours in through the windows and fills the downstairs dining area with lovely natural light. I say 2 p.m. because the parking lot is abnormally tiny and busy, so try to avoid peak hours. There are also a few tables outside if you're into dining al fresco. I ate upstairs, where there's only one large table for private events. The owner came out to greet us and the waiter for the day was polite and knowledgeable. Started off with complimentary bread and an amuse bouche. The bread is essentially a small French-ish loaf served piping hot - I'm talking billows of steam pouring from the basket. +1 for hot bread. It has a nice crust and is lightly airy inside. While relatively flavorless, it goes well with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The amuse bouche was ricotta cheese rolled up in a nice strip of eggplant , topped with tomato sauce and parsley. I normally despise eggplant and don't consider myself a fan of tomato, but this was smooth and spectacular. Entree: seafood linguini. I like seafood, I like linguini, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. The dish was just lovely - clams and mussels in the shell, rings of calamari, a few beheaded baby octopi, plump shrimp. All of the seafood was thoroughly cleaned and cooked to perfection. Everything was gently tender. No sand, no rubbery/chewy nastiness! Excellent! Dessert: tiramisu. While light and delicate, it was just all right. I think I prefer a more bastardized American version of tiramisu, with thicker cream and denser ladyfingers. But I can tell they use fresh ingredients, since I could definitely smell the pleasant fragrance of espresso and cocoa powder and cream emanating from the dessert dish. I haven't tried their cappuccinos or espresso, but they looked tasty. Service: they got the job done, no complaints. Quick refills on water and the food arrives at a reasonable pace. It's a nice place if you're in the area. Nothing absolutely amazing that merits a far drive, but you'll enjoy a pleasant meal if you do choose to dine here. read more

OMG i cannot believe i have lived in Brentwood for 7 years and this is the first time I have ever been to Divino. My fiance and I walk by all the time and say to ourselves "we have to try", so one friday night, we finally went it. Although parking around the area is kind of a pain, but they do offer valet. The feel of the restaurant is a warm, friendly, everyone knows your name, kinda place. The people we were sitting next to were weekly regulars and gave suggestions on what to order. I ad the Ravioli Zucchini and it was to die for! I hope to go back soon! read more

I want to like this place but unfortunately it's not up to standard and I will not come back. We tried their Pappardelle with braised ossobuco which was ok but the Ravioli Zucchini was super salty. The worst part was the service here. We were one of only 4 tables there and still had to sit around more than 10 minutes after they've cleaned off our plates and watched our waiter walk around, chat with other employees, do everything else but come back to check on our table. What a fantastic place. It's the perfect family dining. I don't do Italian food too often (because it's so heavy), but when I do, I'm usually not this impressed. The food was simply fantastic. I started things off with a tomato soup that was easily one of the best tomato soups I've ever had in my life. Followed it up with a fettuccine salmone that simply can't be topped. Finally, the wine list was excellent. They had lots of variety, at very good prices. But the best thing about the restaurant was the ownership and the service. It really felt like we were being taken care of. I can't say enough about the owner (who is not quite Italian, but close). He was genuine, came over to our table, shared some stories with us, and made sure that we were comfortable throughout the evening. Usually it's hard for me to absolutely LOVE an Italian restaurant...some are usually very meh. But this place was awesome! We went on a whim for a friend's birthday, and we were not dissapointed. They bring you steaming bread right out of the oven, as well as a rosemary flatbread type thing that was also very yummy. For salads/soup, we got: This crazy good beet and burrata salad with cucumbers...and my friend got a salad with shrimp on top -- I didn't try it, but I heard no complaints from her end of the table. The soup of the day was some kind of white bean, with what I think was calamari. I didn't realize beans could have so much flavor! Main courses: I personally would like to think that I "won" with my order. I got the orecchiette with calamari and this TO DIE FOR sauce. It was green, so maybe basil...there was also spinach and tomato in the dish...get it. Everyone tried to snag bites off my plate. It wasn't too heavy, either. My friend got the linguini with a "zesty tomato sauce" with seafood on it - mussels and clams, etc... His was good too. He almost ordered my dish, then changed his mind last minute. I felt sad for him. No dessert, we were too full...but next time we will definitely try it! read more

This low key little place makes really fresh food. The Rigatoni is really good. I recently went here with three other people and they all ordered that same dish and loved it. For me, my favorite is their gnocchi. Our friends who go there often raved about their minestrone soup so my boyfriend ordered it. It was so good that I had half of it. On another visit, I tried their carrot soup. That was good too. Regardless of where the staff is from, they are always very attentive with us. I noticed that many of the people coming in know the staff by name so I don't think it's just us that they were attentive with. From time to time, they bring you a bite of something for you to try. For my finances birthday we found this gem in Brentwood. The entire experience from the sit down to the savoring of the last bite was incredibly memorable. The food was fantastic we had the scallops a sea food pasta and the spaghetti with beets each bite was better than the last. The staff was first class and really made us feel special and well cared for . the lighting was romantic for dinner and you cant beat the wine list. Five star experience.
