Inside is beautifully aesthetic, even during Covid service was excellent, and the actual bobes, itself, was delicious. Staff: The owner and the staff members are so kind and they really do prioritize safety. They have contactless ordering and their system is really easy to follow. I had a wonderful experience with Theo, the owner while guiding me through the ordering process and how this place came to be. Drinks: This is no ordinary boba. Theo, the owner told me that ALL of the ingredients he chose for his boba shop is either organic and non-artificial which really stood out to me. The drink menu was really easy to follow and I decided to create the Blue Ocean (soda water, lychee jelly, and lime), Brown Sugar Boba, Matcha Boba, and the Life is Peachy (pea flower tea, lime, peach syrup, sugar). All the drinks were unique and it was fun putting it together. I love the customization and the freshness of the ingredients. Price: Was extremely reasonable. A great solid boba tea shop in the Newcastle area! They have done great with covid restrictions, and their online ordering system is super easy to use. I had stopped by multiple times since they have opened, and each of the drinks I have tried have been super good! They also are very good with the customizations, when you ask for light ice, they really only put a little bit of ice into your drink, which is super nice! The amount of toppings that they put into the drinks is also plentiful. Online ordering was super easy and there wasn't an up charge. Drink was ready when I arrived late. They even offered to remake my drink. Everyone was really nice! What a cool tea shop! I am so impressed with the novelty of this "lab" setting. Plenty of parking out front makes for an easy Monday pick me up treat! I did the DIY Cupid drink and got a regular milk tea for the hubs. I loved the ability to customize every part of the drink and the unique topping options! I'm not a huge fan of tapioca pearls so they recommended I try the clear pearls - a texture like jelly with a little bit of chew! I chose 50% sweetness with less ice and it was absolutely perfect! The hubs concurred! Can't wait to come back here and try the strawberry and mango crema beverages! At first when I came on Mother's Day, it was only 6:40 and the store was closed, though they said the store would close at 8:00. Happened to stop by yesterday during soft opening. Apparently this will be a DIY concept (as the name suggests) at a later time! They have really cool science lab theme, looks like it'd be tons of fun! From what I saw, all drinks are $5 for up to 4 toppings, and you can DIY or have them make it for you. They will have stations to pick up your ingredients and assemble your drink to your liking...that way if you mess it up, you can only blame yourself haha. I tried the brown sugar milk tea and it was amazing! Light brown sugar taste just as it should be, not overwhelmed by a mouthful of sugar! The boba was PERFECTLY cooked! There's a process to it, you don't just throw sugar on cooked boba, it has to "marinate" in it to absorb the sugar flavors, while being able to balance the texture. I fished out every piece of boba from my drink and thoroughly enjoyed it to the last drop. I also tried the signature fruit tea I think it was. I forgot to add the adjusted sugar level, so it was a bit sweet for what I preferred, but it was still so yummy! The flavors of tea leaves really come through so you feel like you're actually drinking fruit flavored tea; Not tea flavored sugar water if that makes sense! Even with their 100% sugar level, it's way better and doesn't taste overly sweet like some other places. I had mentioned my mistake and the owner Theo was nice enough to add more green tea to the drink! They're running specials this weekend too since they're just opening, so will be back to try more! Finally tried this place out! I got the brown sugar boba and the strawberry fresh milk. The brown sugar boba kinda just tasted like cereal milk to me.. def could have had a stronger brown sugar flavor, but it wasn't bad, I'd give it another try for sure! The strawberry fresh milk was good, but I'd suggest getting it slightly less sweet. The customer service was good, you order on a self-serve tablet and the drinks come out pretty quickly. The tapioca was a little over cooked so it was slightly mushy. I'm giving them four stars for now, but definitely willing to try them out again sometime! read more

I used DoorDash to deliver 3 drinks today; original milk tea with boba, signature fruit tea with strawberry popping boba and Mango creama. So far I've tried the milk tea and fruit tea (saving the mango creams for dessert later). I am extremely happy with the drinks and the texture, taste and chewiness of the boba! I would def order again! I usually get my boba at Happy Lemon and Sharetea but am excited to add DIY TL to the list (since it's closer!) I ordered my drinks 50% sweet and less ice. I thought the sweetness was just about right. I could've gone with 25% but that's only because I tend to like things with less sugar. I do like how the drinks are $5 and come with one additional topping of your choice. It's a reasonable price compared to others. The order process is fully self-service which further minimizes the interaction with others. While you're waiting for your order, you can wait outside and enjoy the sunshine. Super fresh new boba place!! I'm sad because they're a little far from where I live but I'm sure my wallet is happy because I'd literally go here everyday if I could. Definitely worth the trip!! Their boba is nice and chewy and they have options of lychee jelly and crystal boba as well! Fun additions that would be great to any drink. Been tired of having the same old sugary milk teas at some of the other places close to my house. Usually milk tea can just taste like sugary milk but you can actually taste the tea that's in the drink. Yes, I know all places have a sugar level range but this place does it perfectly! SO fun and perfect especially during a pandemic! Thanks to DIY tea lab I was able to enjoy such a fun experience and try their bubble tea. The DIY pay station was also really clever. I loved how there were so many options to choose from, starting with the tea base, syrup, fruit and toppings. They have a station for you to look at their preselected list of drinks they can make/ "favorite" drinks. My cousins and I didn't try the make your own section. The pre made drinks are around $6 and that's including tax. The make your own drinks are around $7, don't know if that's including tax. Overall sweet experience and very nice. They also sell locally picked flowers! I'm not usually around new castle to actively go there often but I did enjoy it and love the option of fruit teas. This store is located in the middle of a busy shopping plaza, two doors down from a Starbucks. Parking was plentiful and the branding on the exterior made the place easy to find. While I'm a boba fan, it was my first time visiting a boba shop with a DIY concept. At the counter, one could either order from a menu ($5) or a DIY for $7. Looked daunting at first, but you essentially pick, choose and assemble your beverage however you want it. In the end, given the warm day, I ended up making something fruity: passion fruit juice (as the base) with mango popping boba and fresh fruit topping. Would have loved a better description on the bases I can't across something unique like pea flower tea that is indigo in color (but I didn't know what it would have tasted). Some suggestions or recommendations would have been helpful, too. The staff were very nice and were happy to answer all questions I had (though not sure how that would be possible if the shop was busy). Lastly, the DIY concept lets you use the drink kit (Ice tray, tongs, spoon). The sign says that they must be returned- I wonder how it would actually work? One must pay a deposit? I'm guessing people aren't allowed to stay in and enjoy their beverages inside due to the COVID-19 restrictions? I feel like I had many questions before I went in and left with more questions TL;DR nice creative boba spot. The DIY beverage is a bit pricey, but the menu is appealing. Walked in with friends and the boy and girl behind the counter were drinking and eating food. There's nothing wrong with this if you eat in the back or something but not when you're making and handling my drinks. And when I saw that you didn't perform hand hygiene before making my drinks, I was a little bothered by it. It's not like we're in a pandemic or anything where people are paranoid or anything. I was already annoyed in the way the girl seemed bothered every time I asked her a question about the menu. I finally got to check this place out after seeing many food instagramers going here! It was pretty busy when I went, but with the self-serve kiosk, it helped customers order their drinks easy and fast. Which I really appreciate! After ordering, the drinks came out pretty fast. I ordered the Brown Sugar Milk Tea Creama with 100% sweetness and ice! 100% was definitely a little too sweet for me, but I really loved the flavor of everything in the drink. The boba was so soft, chewy and had a hint of the brown sugar syrup on them. The creama helped eliminate some of the sweetness but made it super creamy. I personally would get it again, but maybe less sweetness. I am definitely coming here again, but since I live 30 minutes away, I might have to stock up on these. I haven't tried their other drinks yet, but I did take a sip of my boyfriends - Signature Fruit Tea and it was okay. Haven't tried regular milk teas here but highly recommend the fruit drinks/smoothies, especially the taro berry smoothie. For around $5 for the drinks (which I think is quite reasonable for the good quality), it's worth a try. As someone who does enjoy sweets, I would say that their drinks are a little on the sweeter side, if that's something you prefer. Also, it does get a bit busy, especially during COVID and bogo times, so I would avoid coming at peak hours. Edit: I'm a liar, I forgot I tried the brown sugar boba. We were picking up medicine for our cats at the Animal Hospital of Newport Hills and we decided to get ourselves a treat at DIY Tea lab. Right now you are required to wear a mask to go in and they have a touchscreen ordering system. So you just order at the touchscreen, pay and then wait for your order. Very convenient and efficient. We looked at their website to see what they have and all the flavors seem very interesting. My son ordered the Mango smoothie with boba and I got the Matcha Green Tea with Boba, and my husband got the Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Boba. I did try the Lychee one the last time were were here as well. All those were really good and they even use real Matcha for the Greet Tea, they have chopped mango on the mango smoothie. It was really good and refreshing. The staff was quite quick and efficient. We really enjoyed our drinks and I think we'll be going there to try different flavors. I definitely recommend DIY Tea Lab. We came for their BOGO offer and got the Ben's Blue Skies milk tea! Interestingly, the Chinese translation has no mention of Ben. Compared to last time, the milk tea was really watered down and not mixed well. It comes as a pale blue smoothie with a red fruit lining at the bottom. The syrup at the bottom was really sweet and I guess it was to compensate for the lack of flavor for the rest of the drink. Even when mixed, the milk tea was still bland and tasted like water with a bit of milk. It was really unsatisfying. The taro was okay: not my taste since I prefer it warm but has an adequate taro flavor for those that like it. I would have preferred if they added a bit more taro and mixed it better. read more

Updating the rating because of the prompt response I got from the restaurant -- accepting this as a one time mistake. Original Was told one of the items was not available after I placed the order in-store on their iPad. I asked the to take the missing item off the order. Instead, they gave me two of the available items. When asked for refund, since the item I wanted was not available, I was told that they didn't do refund. So basically, I was forced to get two items instead of one. I ended up throwing away the extra. Horrible service. read more
