Oh, I remember this building. It was the place where Ginger, Sally Hawkins' working-class character, lived when Cate Blanchett's upper-crust character, Jasmine, suddenly broke and alone, comes to crash there in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine". It's in IMDB. Look it up. Truth be told, Ginger probably couldn't afford the rent there, but wouldn't it have been great if she and Jasmine went downstairs to have a chimichanga as Jasmine blathered on about tipping big. I doubt if Jasmine could stomach the food here, but Cate probably would and so do I. I was in the mood for a rib-sticking Mexican breakfast, and I noticed this place offered a solid breakfast menu when I walked by on my way to the Mission. When I entered, it was fairly empty except for a handful of regulars at one of the tables. There were at least 17 different breakfasts available in the $10-12 range, so I made a random choice picking the $10 Huevos a la Mexicana which was scrambled eggs with green hot peppers (presumably jalapeños), tomatoes, and onions. It came with Mexican rice, a wedge of queso fresco, and a substantial pool of frijoles (photo: http://bit.ly/2C4LX8v). This gave me a reasonable excuse to devour the warmed flour tortillas that came with it. Oh and did I mention that they gave me a complimentary basket of chips with two different salsas (photo: http://bit.ly/2wALCVl)? Of course it all hit the spot...over and over again. FOOD - 4 stars...desayuno muy bueno, senor AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...pretty spartan in here SERVICE - 4 stars...they were quite obliging to this gringo TOTAL - 4 stars...as Jasmine said, "Tip big, boys!" Last week I stopped by to grab some lunch as I was coming from an appointment in the area. There is decent seating but if you are a large group I would order takeout. Parking could be an issue so I recommend ordering through a food delivery service or taking an Uber or Lyft. Most of the customers seem to be patrons which makes the hospitality feel very genuine from everyone who works here. The menu is here probably has more items than most restaurants that I usually got to for Mexican food. I was tempted to order a quesadilla as friends have suggested but I went ahead and ordered a steak burrito as I was in a rush. A top quality burrito all round. There was good flavor, good beans, well-cooked rice, and good spice. Some common flaws that I come across when dealing with burritos are bad beans and dry rice which makes for a horrible burrito but this place gets it! I will be coming back in the future to try the quesadilla though. How could not, right! Just check it out for yourself. #OnTheCorner

"Three is the magic number" --De La Soul My veggie burrito tour of the Mission continues & seems there are an endless amount of taquerias here that could take a few lifetimes to explore yet am enjoying the journey. I recently got a veggie burrito w/o cheese & w/o sour cream & added avocado. For the third time at three different taquerias now I received my veggie burrito w/o avocado or guacamole even though I requested it as such. Dona Mago was very kind in correcting the error by providing me w/ a small plate of heaps of avocado slices. I appreciated this effort & gave them another tip in the tip jar. Chips & salsa come w/ the burrito yet there is no salsa bar. Television usually is playing soccer. The atmosphere here is very relaxed & is the opposite of Pancho Villa which is much more hectic along w/ the Russian roulette salsa bar as the salsas there aren't labeled so you could be getting an extra spicy salsa instead of a mild one. The veggie burrito at Dona Mago was filling & hearty as well as affordable. An added bonus is it is a short walk from my beloved Rainbow Grocery & is probably the Taqueria closest to Rainbow to get your veggie burrito.

Wooow , what can i say . Words can not describe the service and quality and don't forget the authentic you the food . Trust me I know authentic food and this food was definitely authentic. I'm not from this area but if I ever come this way again I will definitely stop by . Highly recommend this place to any and everyone . We got burritos and my wife the mundo and it was perfect for our on the go road trip .

I decided to check this place out based on the recommendation of an Uber driver who was from Mexico. I got the carne asada + shrimp plate, which includes rice beans, salad, cheese and tortillas. Overall the portion was decent, but not as huge as what I might have expected having read the other reviews. The shrimp was nicely seasoned and grilled well, but unfortunately everything else was kind of meh in my opinion. Rice and beans were bland and the carne asada itself was dry and stringy. The Mission has so much great Mexican food and based on what I ordered, I this place sadly did not seem to measure up. Giving 3 stars still though overall for friendly service and an interesting-looking menu with a rotating schedule of daily specials. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing? I'll come back sometime to see if that was the case.

I made a reservation via Yelp for 3 people on a Saturday at 11:15am. My table was ready on time and they seated me even though our full party was running late. I got the Omelette Fried Rice (4.5/5), that came with delicious sriracha bacon, and an okay salad on the side. For my drink, I got the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk (5/5), which was fantastic. It's on the sweeter side, which worked for me. It was fairly busy and a bit loud inside. The dining room is long and narrow but has a decent amount of seating. Service was good, and friendly.

I asked a passing waitress how long was the wait--(30 minutes she said confidently). I had ZERO faith in that estimate. I was wrong. About EVERYTHING. The Host was a genius. Our waitress was a royal. Her serving team was the Kentucky Derby of thoroughbreds racing to place the silverware, condiments, used dishes, and refilled coffee going. The food tasted Michelin level. I can SAY that because we had eaten dinner at an actual Michelin rated restaurant the night before. (No Yelp rating needed because they ABSOLUTELY deserved it= NARI) I had a FRIED French Toast BECAUSE it cannot sit waiting to be served. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and the granddaughter had fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ in an ADULT glass (because she is a Big Girl now). While we paid our tab we heard a woman scream "I'm giving this restaurant a ONE STAARR REVIEW on YELP because of this WAIT!!!" OMG I thought someone had been ROBBED--but..on THIS Mother's DAY..it was only a spoiled young lady with poor manners. For me...now at a point in life that WAITING anywhere for anything is a PERCENTAGE of TIME I have LEFT to live...this breakfast was easily worth the time that it cost in human terms. Go any time you got a Mom, Grandma, Dad, offspring, first date or best friend you want to share a moment in time with early in the day over food and drink. No waiting worth mentioning. Thanks

My boyfriend came to the city, and I decided to bring him here to try it again. It was a bit of a disappointment. Though I may have misremembered my previous experience as being better than it was. At the beginning of the meal, we were asked if we had been waited on several times. At some point, we weren't sure who our server was. And even though we had been tended to by 4 different people at the start of the meal, we had to flag someone down for the check. The restaurant wasn't packed, so it was a bit odd. The beignets were more dense than we thought they'd be. They were more like regular fried dough balls rather than beignets. The pasta was decent. My boyfriend liked his Catfish and Grits, but said there was a bit too much cheese. Also, neither of our dishes was spicy at all. I would come here again, but not go out of my way to.
