We ended up with actually 2 different kinds of cochroaches. Had visions of having to have our whole house extermindated UNTIL we made a visit to Do It Yourself Pest and Weed! Talk about KNOWLEDGEABLE/HELPFUL beyond what we had even hoped after being told it would cost us about $300 - $500 to have our problem areas sprayed -- Our kitchen, 1/2 bath and laundryroom. Bought a can of PreCor for about $60; sprayed the base boards, did clean out my lower cubhoards and sprayed. Have not seen cochroaches for over 3 years! This stuff KILLS EVERYTHING. Fabulous customer service by Pennie! I was educated in science with an chunk in chemistry. So, I learned a long time ago about concentrations of chemicals. As a result I've sought out more concentrated chemicals I can dilute myself and save money. That's how I found these guys years ago and I've been mostly happy with their products. In particular,in the last few years iv had mesquito problems so,have needed a concentrated chemical I can routinely use to control the little guys. In addition there are a few rats that have been visiting the back yard! Pennie( who I found out after the fact is new) provided swift knowledgeable service making me super happy. It's kind of a fun store to go to. They have a strong selection of smoker wood (pricy but good). They have select pest Contol products that are unique and work. They really do have great fly and rat control products. I've tried them and they work very well. She stocks golf course quality fertilizer and herbicide. I've used one lawn product that did well for one of the weeds that just would not go away. It's kind of a hidden gem. It's one of the few pest contol places that actually has great pest control products. Their employees are helpful and pretty cool too. read more

I went here and purchased a "stack" of mesquite wood and the owner informed me it would be 20 pieces in a "stack". I paid $45 for my "stack" of mesquite and then she raced outside to grab the smallest pieces off the "stack". When I got home and unloaded it, I found there was only 15 pieces of mesquite. Also, when I was unloading, of the 15 pieces I got in my "stack" for $45 I found multiple pieces that were small, with holes rotting through them and bright yellow in color; clearly rotten. Definitely wood I can't use to smoke food with, which I informed her I needed for my smoker because I was smoking duck. Definitely won't be going back because she said she could only sell a "stack" at most of mesquite to me when I was paying. Upon walking outside, she had a whole rack. read more

I went into the store on a Tuesday at about 2 pm and had to wait for about 10 minutes to get some advice on some very basic products. Mike was very nice and informative. I chose a few products and was shocked at the register. It seemed expensive but I went ahead with the purchase. After getting home I decided to look up the chemicals that I was sold for safety reasons because I have small children and pets and the first thing that came up was Amazon. I realized I could have purchased ALL of the same chemicals for about 1/4 of the price! If you need some pest control products TODAY and can afford to pay the ridiculous mark up then this is a fine place. But if you can wait 2 days for prime shipping then get this stuff online and save a TON of money! My receipt clearly states "ALL SALES FINAL" so I am sure I am out about an extra $85 that I could have saved by buying on Amazon. :( read more

This place is a joke, and the weirdos that run this place are very dishonest. Their specialty is conning and robbing the customer. Unfortunately, I fell victim the first time I walked in their store not knowing any better. They sold me some chemicals and charged my Credit card, but told me it will come in couple of days that I can come back and pick up. Making the story short, weeks later and they still don't have it, while they held my $. Many attempts and requests to get a refund, went unanswered, not returning phone calls, and giving BS excuses when I go in person to the store. One excuse by the Weirdo worker there telling me he can't get hold of the weirdo owner for days, yah right. Anyways, I had my Credit Card bank deal with them and get my Money back which took three months to do. Be careful with those clowns. There are a lot better, cheaper, more knowledgeable, more honest and professional places in the DFW area that you can get DYI supplies from. Just shop around. read more

I had two unopened items that I needed to return. I could not find my receipt. The clerk stated that I could not return them and get a refund but he thought he could give me store credit which was fine. He called the owner and spoke to the owner for several minutes. Then I was told that they could not take them back without the receipt. Let's see, these are unique pest control items that I cannot get at Home Depot or Lowe's so they definitely came from there (and I told him that). I was initially led to believe that there was a resolution and then told there was not. So now $60 worth of product is going in the trash. I will never return here nor will I refer anyone. Customer service is very confusing here and they don't seem to care if you are a satisfied customer. read more

Horrible experience - I bought some pesticide that Mr. Tattoo guy said he sells to all his customers who have mosquito misters. He said to just put half a container into a 55 gallon drum. When I told him that didn't sound quite right based on my experience with a different product he checked the label and corrected himself - needs a whole container. When I got home I checked the product online and the manufacturer said you need to combine the product with another product in the tank to make sure it produces a fine mist. I took the product back to return and was told store credit only. When I asked to be able to get a refund because he had given me bad information Mr. Tattoo guy told me the manufacturer is only trying to sell more product and there is no need to combine the solutions. After he gave me a store credit I also reminded him that he had given me bad information at first about the mixing ratio he denied saying he told me to mix 1/2 container at first until I questioned his information. Ultimately he refunded my money and told me to get out of his store. There is more but I think this is enough. I see several other reviews that accuse these folks of lying. read more

I ordered a half cord of pecan from Texaswoodman. Delivery was a long wait and had to call to see if they were still going to deliver. After receiving it and going through the wood, half was so dry I call it rotten. Was a dingy yellow color and looked like a tree that had rotted on the forest floor. Not premium season wood. The other half was only 9 inches long and would be more like chunks. Hard to keep lit. Was all so to dry. As far as I am concerned this is a bunch of creative writing that's posted on their web site. Mike S., the co-owner and manager, presents himself as your best friend if he gets a big purchase from you ($282.00!) HOWEVER, go in the store the very next day to return products your husband purchased, which have never been taken out of the bag or opened and he will tell you All Sales Are Final! Does not care! No Customer Service experience at all!! When I asked him if he specifically told mu husband the policy, his reply "Why no, that would be bad for business! It's posted on the walls and receipt." I don't know about you, but my experience regarding Retailers "Sales are Final" have been communicated before walking away from the register. Retailers, both large and small have repeat customers because of customer service. Not a sales guy telling you that you and your husband should communicate before purchase. Professionals know that "Customer Service" is the key to success! PLEASE BEWARE!!! DO NOT SHOP THIS STORE! Mike indicated that he was not authorized to accept because he is not the owner, even though he is the co-owner and son of the owners. I contacted their McKinney location and ask for Lori Smith, the owner/mother of Mike, her assistant took my info. I called again and asked for Howard Smith, the owner, father of Mike and was told he is not in. I did receive a call back from Greg, the General Manager, however, he indicated that he was not authorized to accept return either. I indicated that is why I ask to speak to the owners hours earlier. He said, I can talk to them about a store credit ~ I did not want a store credit, I wanted a refund because I am returning products never opened. It is interesting to me that he offered a credit for a return when they are telling me I can not return the items. By the way, I spoke to several other Pest Control Stores in the area to fin out if this is a standard policy and they gladly accept returns! read more
