I really wanted to like this place because first impressions were great. The view is beautiful, the atmosphere is nice, and it looks like it should serve amazing food. Unfortunately, the food was all style and no substance. Everything came out cold and somehow managed to be bland at the same time. We ordered the shrimp sliders, pepper chicken, Paradise Burger, fondue burger, lobster mac and cheese, and fish and chips. Ironically, the appetizers completely outshined the entrees. The pepper chicken was the only thing worth ordering--it reminded me of Taiwanese popcorn chicken and actually had flavor. Everything else was disappointing. The Paradise Burger was burnt, and the "peanut butter sriracha" sauce tasted more like bottled teriyaki sauce. The lobster mac and cheese was basically plain boiled pasta with a lobster tail tossed on top and barely any cheese sauce. The fish and chips came with three tiny pieces of fish and waffle fries that were literally cold. Even the tartar sauce tasted almost identical to the one on McDonald's Filet-O-Fish. The complimentary rolls tasted like someone grabbed a bag of Costco buns, toasted them, and called it a day. The fondue burger was dry, cold, and packed with onions that weren't even mentioned on the menu. It felt like every entree was made with the bare minimum effort. The service didn't help either. Our server checked on us maybe twice during a two-hour meal. No water refills, no follow-up, nothing. On top of that, an elderly employee had to carry a huge tray of food by herself and almost dropped it. I actually had to help catch the tray while several younger employees stood around doing absolutely nothing. That was honestly more memorable than the food. The final thing that threw me off was the restaurant layout. The restroom is right next to the kitchen, and it looked like guests leaving the bathroom and food coming out of the kitchen were using almost the same doorway. It didn't exactly scream "clean" to me. This place clearly puts more effort into the view than the food. If you're looking for somewhere to take pictures and have a drink, you'll probably enjoy it. If you're coming for a good meal, I'd save your money and eat somewhere else. read more

This is literally the stupidest reason to receive a bad review. I went to dinner with my spouse and two children. No rush, not very busy. My entire family's food came before mine, no big deal. (My meal was also the only one that didn't require any cooking) But after nearly thirty minutes, and my entire family finishing their meals, I asked for a manager. Manager came, offered to comp my meal. Comping a meal that was never eaten seemed like the bare minimum to me? Then, for some over dramatic waste of my time I had to wait for the hotel director? A hotel director and another half hour of my time? She also offered to only comp my meal. Which I accepted, as long as her name and corporate number were also provided. Some how I ended up with my entire bill, no name and no corporate name or number. Nor was any employee, at any point, willing to take any kind of accountability or take any blame. Everything felt like a placation. Which is silly because at no point was I angry or loud. But they screwed up and were very unwilling to do anything to right their own mistake. Unfortunately this one staff interaction completely changed my opinion of this hotel. It should also be said, ask questions about the menu. Especially if you're picky. The kids menu says "Kraft macaroni and cheese", it's not Kraft. It's cavatapi noodles with cheese sauce. It also says "french fries" and it's waffle fries. Kids are picky. Especially about macaroni and their French fries. This miscommunication could ruin a family vacation. Also, the "avocado salsa" is creama. Not salsa. So mind your allergies because the menu describes almost everything incorrectly. read more

Nope, I was told the kitchen swapped to their lunch tools. If you are going to advertise breakfast is served until noon on your menu, you should probably serve breakfast until noon. Just saying .... I prefer their breakfast menu over the lunch menu so I was disappointed. read more

We were looking for a casual breakfast spot with a view, and near the airport. Blue Wave fit the criteria. The outside patio area overlooks the Marina and it was so nice to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Their breakfast burrito was tasty as was the cold brew. The server made a suggestion to try the house made salsa verde on the side and I loved it so much he even gave me more to take to go. The food is absolutely delicious and the outside seating was really relaxing. I had a Caesar salad which was so good, my son had their wings which were cooked to perfection, my friend had a French onion dip burger which was soooo delicious (sorry no picture) and we also tried their fondue cheeseburger which was also perfectly cooked ( also no picture) . I would give it 5 stars except they messed up on the burger that I ordered twice but in the end that fondue cheeseburger was a perfect mess up because I would definitely order it again. At 2:00pm on a Saturday, this place is empty between shifts. Perfect for a late lunch! There is indoor and outdoor seating available, which is perfect for July in San Diego. Just a heads up, it is right next to the pool (so it can be loud outside with kids off for the summer). We had a few sharables, but it was the fillet mignon taco that stood out the most. The sauce really makes it! I also really enjoyed the poke salad. There was a generous serving of ahi tuna on top that really made me feel satisfied with my selection. The pickled onion were a great compliment to the bed of mixed greens and seaweed salad for the base. Overall, this was a really pleasant experience for family visiting me from out of town. My Son visited a store nearby and we decided to dine here after. The weather was good, it wasn't too hot or cold, so we sat outdoors. I had the BULGOGI SHORT RIB , it was a good portion and was so Flavorful. The Meat was so tender and easy to pull apart. The Flavor was so strong, I like it. It's savory with a light hint of citrus and sweetness, I love it! Oh and the mashed potato with it was yummy ! Unfortunately my Son's CHICKEN MILANESE and my husband's FISH and CHIPS were lacking in Flavor, they kept adding salt or pepper or ketchup or whatever they could grab to season their food. Gladly at the end their dessert was so good, the quality of the chocolate was very rich. Some of the foods hit and some didn't. What a great meal with a great view! I had the grilled fish tacos and they were phenomenal. The fish was cooked exactly how I like it and the slaw had a great tangy flavor that complemented the chipotle aioli. The green salsa with the chips was so tasty. Walked in on a Friday almost 9pm and we were greeted with a smile & got seated right away. A little busy but NOT really, our waiter attended to us for waters & drink order, it took him a while to get back to us after & I'm going to say because legit he was the only server & it's not that huge in there, but there's a little bar area, inside seating then outside patio & there were people, pretty much scattered around different parts of the restaurant. Restaurant attached to BW Island Palm Resort, lucky for us even though we got there late, they still were serving food. Drinks were poured generously & the prices, I guess were semi decent. This restaurant was my third option but it exceeded my expectations. When all plans failed this restaurant did not let me and my family down! The place is located on Shelter Island near Harbor Island and it is beautiful. A great place to watch sports, enjoy the live music, watch you kids swim in the pool (if you're staying at the hotel) or just grab some food with your family. We ordered different items and I'm honestly shocked and impressed at how well and great my food tasted. I ordered the lobster mac n cheese, someone else ordered the artichoke pasta and someone else ordered the jerk fried fish with rice. The mule for the drink was good, and the lemon drop was beautiful as it always is! Very happy that I came here and experienced this! I recommend you try items that you wouldn't normally prefer! It's definitely worth it. TRY THE AVOCADO TACOS!!!! Also, celebrated my significant others birthday here and I was very pleased with the service. This time we tried the salmon Wellington - Norwegian salmon wrapped in puff pastry with spinach, cream cheese, and artichoke with a Dijon dill cream sauce, served w/ veggies and grilled lemon. It was delicious. Also got a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for $7 with $2 off. Not sure why, since it was after happy hour. But all of the apps and drinks were $2 off. We tried this place three times in a matter of three days that we were staying at the hotel. first time we went with the family to have a dinner and watch the views. It took forever until the waiter came and took our order. We ordered two drinks and an appetizer and it took forever until our orders were brought outside the clam chowder we ordered was good but the food wasn't a wow. The second day we were at the pool area and we decided to order from them again I placed our orders again for drinks and the food for my little son and the drinks came and our food arrived but the food for my son was forgotten, and the waiter refused to say he forgot to write it he said you never ordered it even though everybody around us saw running toward him and have him write my order but he refused it anyways we got our order again an hour later. For the third time, we decided to order clam chowders from the room and go pick up from the bar area and guess what ?this time around. we showed up to pick up the food 20 minutes later as they said, and there we are standing and waiting forever for them to fill up the cups of clam chowder, which is already prepared for us to leave after standing there for half an hour they didn't even know why are we there, we already told three waiters that they've been waiting for the clam chowder that we ordered from room. That night we tried to clam chowder again and you could tell this is not fresh and it was very salty this time around overall I don't think the flavor of the food is good and their service sucks. They are very rude. The only plus point this restaurant has is the view, so if you were in San Diego area and you really want to watch the marina with a nice view do yourself a favor just grab something simple a cup of water and sit there for a little bit and just watch the sunset read more

This actually might have been a 3 had it not been for the fact that our server could give to shakes of a lamb's tail about us! It was breakfast time so, I ordered the avocado toast my Groom ordered bacon, eggs and toast. We were the 3rd couple to arrive there and were hoping to be in and out of our dining experience to enjoy the beautiful marina. Not a chance. After 45 minutes of sitting, our waitress visited our table and said, "Sorry we got busy. Your food should be up in a few minutes." From what we could see the restaurant wasn't busy. Another 20 minutes went by... My Groom caught our Waitress and asked if she could check on our food to see if it was ready. She didn't. 10 minutes more and we asked another server to see if our food just happened to be available. It was. The new server brought it to us and we were grateful as our server never came back to check on us, not once, not even for a coffee or water refill. My toast: soggy and cold My grooms meal: eggs over easy when he asked for over well. Bacon was chewy and toast cold. Essentially our food had the taste of it sitting half under a heat lamp and half out. Oh and, our waitress did make an appearance at check out time. She apologized and removed my Grooms plate off the ticket said it was on the house for how late it arrived. We tipped her a dollar. The point of this is: If you're going to be in the service industry then service folks, don't run away and fake busy. It's lame! read more
