Doc Martin's, at the Taos Inn, is just as quirky as Taos itself. The interior is not quite as upscale as a few other eateries in the area, but it's set within the original adobe house and celebrates local flavors beyond traditional chile, including choke cherry and fresh trout. Service is good, and the food is fresh and tasty, albeit a bit overpriced.

I wasn't sure if I should review under the Historic Taos Inn or Doc Martin's. The seating is split with the restaurant being off on one side and then open seating for just more casual drinks and dining in the Taos Inn main lounge area which was where we sat. The architecture of this place is truly majestic. I think this place has been around for well over a hundred years. I had peaked inside about two years ago but they were sadly closed for drinks and food at the time. Came back on my birthday on a Friday night. Initially, we were going to get dinner across the street but there was a 45 minute wait. Then it started pouring after we settled down to drinks so it was decided we were staying there. Which I didn't mind. It has a quaint rustic atmosphere and there was live music playing. For drinks I ended up ordering the Santa Fe nut brown ale (which I've had before and it's become my go to beer in New Mexico) and later a Teller Green chile martini. The martini was spicy to the right level and very smooth. For food I went with the smothered burrito platter with brisket meat that comes with a side of rice and beans. Boy oh boy was it smothered! Half with the red and half with the green. Because ya gotta try em both, amiright? The brisket was very tender and the sauces were exceptionally delicious. My boyfriend had some kind of southwest chicken torta sandwich and his mom had a burger. All in all, It was decent food and probably way more affordable than the other place. Would definitely come back again next time I'm visiting!

I arrive well after the last seating but was still served and was not rushed the food was very good I'd steak an old-fashioned and a rice pudding. All top-notch rice pudding had large pieces of brittle on top. It was not too sweet. The steak was cooked properly and the drink was needed after a long hand on the road

There was just one server for the entire dining room! The drinks were spot on. The food wasn't too bad and the truffle fries were good. A busy spot for a Tuesday night. A nice space with sink into the chair seating.

    The Taos culture reigns.

There is something about this place that makes me feel I am exactly where I need to be. That said, service is iffy and robotic and the food is just average. But the restaurant, the daily music, the customers, WOW! I never want to leave. I want to return.

Motor lodge restaurants can be all over the place, with such large variations in clientele, timetables (those who are always in a hurry), and expectations. Our visit on a busy Sunday holiday weekend was better than we expected, in service, atmosphere and food quality. It is part of a National Register building and has the southwestern Rustic them down. Service was really solid, especially since they probably had more tables to serve than normal. Show some patience and kindness to your servers. The cocktails were solid--no doubt why the bar is popular. Highly recommend the elote dip--a very tasty appetizer! The New York strip plate was a lot of good food--with a perfectly grilled medium rare steak along with a cheese enchilada and pinto beans. I knock them down a bit just because the plate was to be covered with red chile, and that was MIA. The brisket didn't have any issues--tender and well prepared.

I had a reservation but all of the tables were full so I sat at the bar. Since I was by myself, it was fine. The bartender Michael took good care of me. I had a nice conversation with him and a local sitting at the bar. I had the tacos platter. It came with 3 tacos and I did one ground beef, one chicken and one mushroom. All were really tasty. The salsa was a bit spicy but not too bad. Good rice and beans. Not too heavy. Overall a nice taco platter. For dessert, I had the chocolate lava cake. This had a good lava center. It was not too heavy or rich. Nice whipped cream on the side. A nice meal to finish out my trip in Taos.

We stayed at this adorable motel in Taos New Mexico and decided to have dinner at the restaurant Doc Martins attached to the motel. The service was great and the food was delicious! The Taos Inn was super cute too!

Great food with a New Mexico vibe. Very unique taste and flare. The dining room is comfortable and balances sound so conversation is easy without being hard on your chill vibe! The staff are so attentive and friendly.

Great quality with nice atmosphere. The food was above average also. Kinda spendy for a small town place.

Warm beer and limited food choices, especially compared to their phonebook wine list, which was significantly overpriced.

Our server, Chaniece, absolutely made the experience. I told her I wanted to order some of the most authentic Spanish dishes on the menu, and she came through perfectly. She was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed excited to help us experience the restaurant. If you have questions about the menu, ask for her recommendations--you won't be disappointed. My partner ordered Martin's Breakfast Burrito, and I had the huevos rancheros. Both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we were hoping for. Michael's Kitchen is only open Wednesday through Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., so plan accordingly. We arrived around 9:30 on a Sunday morning and had about a 30 minute wait. It was busy, but the wait was actually enjoyable because the restaurant has several little nooks filled with antiques and artwork by local artists. There was plenty to look at, and the time passed quickly. Taos has many wonderful mom and pop restaurants, but from what I learned during our visit, there are fewer locally owned restaurants serving traditional Spanish cuisine. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try all of them, but I'm very happy we chose Michael's Kitchen. Between the authentic food the welcoming atmosphere and Chaniece's outstanding service, it was one of the highlights of our visit to Taos.
