Okay I agree with the other reviews, the food is nothing to write home about, but if you take it for what it is, this is a great little place. We sat upstairs for lunch with three kids under 8. The view and location were awesome! I had the fried shrimp sandwich which was surprisingly good, and the kids enjoyed their grilled cheese and my husband said his burger was good For a quick bite or leisurely drink, I think it hit the mark. Here for lunch with a local who met her husband here 30'years ago. Recommended shrimp and grits and blackened tuna sandwich. Had a party of six and we fit around an outdoor patio table. Waiter Max provided excellent service so ask for him! Beautiful view of large boats/yachts for Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and gorgeous flowers around docks. We chose to have lunch eating on their porch. The food was disappointing and did not meet up with the ambiance. The iced tea tasted like it wasn't brewed but made from a mix. My wife's shrimp basket was not enjoyable as the batter was salty & the shrimp had an iodine taste. She couldn't finish them. I had a grilled Cajun mahi sandwich that was good. Service was friendly & prompt. With the undelectable shrimp basket (a mainstay for a coastal restaurant) we are hard to rate better than 1 star. The Dock House has a great location smack dab in the middle of the boardwalk on the water in Beaufort. It has two stories with wrap-around porches where you can sit. If you seen an open table, grab it and wait for your server. On weekends they have live music and we dined on Memorial Day Sunday so it was busy and the music was a very nice touch. You can see all of the boats across the way and watch the sunset from here. The menu has some crazy fonts that look like an eye exam and there really aren't too many choices. Many of the craft beers were misspelled. On the left side of the menu are the appetizers and salads and on the right you basically have a choice of fried fish, fried fish and more fried fish. You can also get the cheeseburger if fried fish isn't your thing. I ordered the fried shrimp and it came with slaw, french fries and hush puppies. It was a huge portion and I could not finish it. The only downside was waiting about 45 minutes for the food. I would recommend this place to grab a drink and listen to music and enjoy the view. read more

Not the best experience. I have been here multiple times. Not impressed. Yet to walk away and say, " damn!! That was good." Too many staff standing outside smoking and gossiping. Service was super slow, even for what we've become used to in this area (also contributing to the 3). If you're looking for a place to hang out by the waterfront in Beaufort and maybe grab a drink and appetizer, this would be it as long as you can be seated on the deck upstairs. If you're looking for a place to grab a bite to eat - keep walking. Food was shockingly overpriced. A double cheeseburger with fries was $13+, fountain drinks were $3/each. The cheeseburger was the cheapest entree. My 6yo ordered the grilled cheese from kid menu, took one bite, said it was gross. How do you mess up a grilled cheese sandwich? Now, the burger WAS good and two of us could have split just one it was so big (definitely a double cheeseburger) and the fries were delish, but the service overall from the time we were seated to served to leaving took too long. For one adult and three kids our bill with 20% tip was $65. We of course will not return. read more

Menu says they save the right to change price without notice. If you sit to long then it will go up to pay for your time. I've been coming two Beaufort for three decades and never experienced service this slow, especially in the off season. Actually, the damn clam chowder was four stars! I eat alot of chowder but this was weirdly among the best I had! The problem is the serving was soo small. I wish there was more of the chowder and less of the bowl. The fish sandwhich was really tasty too. The service ruined it for me. Came in with a large group, however the restaurant was not even half full. Staff seemed INSTANTLY overwhelmed. This is a fried foods, burgers and fries joint. Nothing gourmet. There was no one to seat us or to try and help us accommodate our large group. Drinks took approx 15 minutes after WE rearranged our tables. The Waitress did offer to take our kids orders first so that they could be fed first, but then took an additional 20 minutes to take the adults orders. Refills had to be asked for, and in the middle of our wait the waitresses started arguing with each other right in the middle of our group! Our food (adults) came well after an hour of waiting. Mediocre at best. Flash frozen burger patty cooked way past well done. Nothing good to say here really. Plenty of other options, not worth stopping here. read more

So the wife and I were out for a late afternoon snack and decided to go to a different restaurant, but thankfully they were closed. We stumbled upon the Dock House restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. Walking in I wasn't caught by the decor, other than it reminded me of a dive bar from back home. We sat down at the bar and were pleasantly surprised at the fun loving bartender Rachel(ray-ray) who seemed to have complete control over everything in the restaurant. She treated us like family and made a mean drink to boot. The views from the bar were magnificent, and the food, ordinary as it was, was delicious. people were friendly, not only the staff, but also the patrons. It's a place that makes you feel like you're home. We are planning on stopping by later tonight to see the night life of, so far, our favorite place in town. If you get the chance to make it to Beaufort, N.C., be sure to stop by this place. read more

Our first day in Beaufort and we decided to eat here for dinner. We were the only 2 in the restaurant as it was early. Food was very good but our evening was ruined by 12 people who never sat down for dinner and just stood around us drinking and talking very loudly. Worst place and service on the coast of North Carolina. We arrived at 11:50, lunch service started at 12:00, and we were served at 1:25. Our waitress while apologetic was a genius at coming up with excuses. She told us that she spilled our entire order and that it had to be made again. She then had other creative excuses for the slow kitchen service for the tables that surrounded us. My favorite was that they had a lot of orders come in at the same time. Pretty shocking that there a lot of orders at noon. I know it surprised the hell out of me. If you are thinking about dining or drinking here I would ask you to answer the following four questions: Do you enjoy waiting over an hour for food? Do you enjoy waitresses with shorter memories than a goldfish? Are you too lazy to use your own microwave? Do you enjoy using horribly serviced restrooms while you wait on your food? If you answered yes to all four of these questions, then buddy you have come to the right place. Get ready do be amazed at how in the hell a place like this is able to pay their power bill. A Tuesday evening about 6:45pm in mid August. First it's very hard to tell if this is a restaurant because it has coffee signs all over the building and it's very clear that they serve food. So we walk in and there is only about 5/6 tables that have people being served, so we sit down outside to enjoy the sunset and have a meal. We start off with waters for everyone and the water had a FUNKY taste not good at all! So I order a coke and my friend gets a diet even my coke had a weird taste but the kicker is my friends diet had NO ICE in his drink. So then we order from the menu our meal. About 35 min later the food comes out AND they messed up 2 of the 4 orders so at this point we just want to EAT & LEAVE. I had a cheeseburger that I asked for bacon and such and what did i get just meat and cheese with veggie sides so what ever I hungry at this point. My other friend ordered the same meal as me but kindly asked for no bun and haha guess what WRONG again. My wife had a jerk chicken meal that looked as bad as it taste, and lastly a order of surf and turf that had very small amounts of sea food and a clam chowder that never showed up! So about 5-8 min after getting our food the waitresses comes by and asked if we wanted our check so we got it we just wanted to LEAVE. The check was wrong and it took her about 20-25 min to even come back to collect the check. So unless you like slow service poor food and and dirty place I'd NEVER recommend this place. read more

When we entered the restaurant we were warned downstairs that there was only one server. She was incredibly busy so I ordered a margarita (mostly sweet and sour mix with a rotting lime as garnish) and looked over the menu. For some reason, this oceanfront eatery doesn't serve much in the way of seafood. They have shrimp that isn't deep fried but all the other seafood on the menu is deep fried. Hush puppies are the worst I've had. No onion, no salt, no flavor. . and our food came out quickly. We ordered a starter of cheese sticks that came battered in an oddly sweet batter. Not good. I ordered the flounder fried with French fries. Not great. The flounder was breaded, but had ZERO seasoning in the breading. I think I used all the salt and pepper at our table. There's a reason this place only has 2.5 stars. You're better off eating at Wendy's. Seriously. This is likely the most dissatisfied I've ever been at a restaurant. Their service is slow, apathetic, and inconsistent. The front of their menu claims that their service can be slow; understandable for a high-class restaurant, not a place that serves bowling-alley food. I started off with a Bloody Mary. It had some sort of crab juice in it. It tasted like nothing but crab and horseradish. I'll ignore the fact that it was served in a cheap plastic cup. I ordered one of the "specials." Jerk Mahi. It was a tiny piece of over-cooked fish that didn't even cover the bun. My meal was served with cold, floppy French fries. My wife ordered the jerk chicken sandwich. It was essentially an entire chicken breast, over cooked, chewy, and dried out. Each "meal" cost $10. You'd be better off eating at a chain fast food restaurant, both in terms of quality and price. Brought my family to eat an early dinner at the Dock House on Sunday, 9/6/2020. For whatever reason, the restaurant management must have determined that it was a good idea to have an unmasked man, wearing a "Medical Condition - No Mask" sticker on his shirt, greet and bring patrons to the tables. During a pandemic state of emergency, I would think that businesses, especially restaurants, would go out of their way to encourage people to patronize their businesses, by at a minimum attempting to reassure people that they maintain a safe operation. While having outside seating was appealing with respect to safer air flow, my family and I will not take a chances at the Dock House again. read more

Nice location with excellent water views however they need to seriously reconsider their recipes for some of the items I ordered. The fried soft shell crabs were very good. The crab dip appetizer was a bland mayonnaise-y mess (yuck). French fries were plain (at least they weren't coated). The Ketchup was dollar store brand with hf corn syrup overload.
