Lastly, it's expensive - there are so many other amazing restaurants in town with premium prices and food/service to show for it. Quiet. Nice views of the lake. Friendly service. I would give my server higher rating because she was very sweet and apologetic. However, being a server myself, if a plate is sub par, you don't walk it out onto the floor and place in front of a guest. The menu is overpriced and the food was disappointing at best. I ordered the salmon bagel. Dry, sloppily put together, thick cucumber slices were odd, capers were all over the bottom of the bagel. I can't believe I was going to pay $20 for this wreck. The bagel was flavorless despite it being some kind of herb and cheese. Cream cheese slopped in big clumps not even covering bagel. It claims to have shaved red onions and cucumber ribbons. Try sliced hunks of red onion and very thick cucumber slabs. No dill anywhere on my plate. No lemon zest either. Absolutely unprofessional. I rarely EVER complain or send food back, but I did this morning. Server mentioned a "new guy". Not sure but if so then they need to train him. read more

Let's say we were a little disappointed on our latest visit to The Dockside. Only 4 appetizers to choose from....waiter said all the food got wiped out over Christmas. Ordered the chicken Caesar salad for main entree. Ended up getting the side salad amount with bits of chicken thrown on the top. Also ordered the Truffle Fries. Had to ask for them after I got my main entree-and they came out mushy. We love coming here especially during the holidays-but this time was not enjoyable read more

Location was nice. Food was terrible. The fall harvest salad had old shriveled up basic dry beets, carrots and parsnips. My husband's chipotle burger was only flavored by the mass amounts of chipotle paste smeared on the dry old brioche bun that just fell apart when he picked it up. I honestly am shocked at the quality of Dockside. We have been there twice in the last year.. Both times we have had extremely slow and poor service. The most recent (last month), there was a group of 8 of us for a company dinner on a Wednesday Night. We all ordered drinks which took over an hour to get... Our server was horrible at checking in on us too. Then we all got our food, and our steaks were COLD... the butter on the steaks weren't even melted. Then the automatic 21% gratuity for a table over 6, which I get but after the level of service we got, there should've been none or at least been able to be changed. For somewhere as expensive as Dockside is, I am applaud. We won't be back. read more

Came in for the $24.95 endless breakfast buffet and it was great! They have this Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am -12:00pm It's chef's choice but we started off with bacon eggs, French toast. Breakfast sausage, potatoes that where amazing. And of course the $6 dollar mimosas and Bloody mary. The views from the restaurant are amazing. Looks over the CDA lake . A definite destination if you are in the Couer d'Alene area. I'm unsure if they take reaervations but it might be a best practice during buay times. Every dish was well prepared and the staff was highly attentive to our table. The large size of the restaurant makes it easy to hold conversations with out neighborly interruptions. I had the French dip which was good I had some jealous moments while I saw the seafood and pasta dishes. The main entrees come with access to a great salad bar. read more

We stayed overnight at the hotel Valentine's Day. We went to Dockside and sat in the lounge for a couple of drinks. The drinks were great, the service not so much. We seemed to be the forgotten table even though we were right next to the bar. My husbands bloody mary sat at the bar for 10 minutes before I said hey I think thats ours can I grab it. We decided we wanted to eat and chose the Valenetine's Couples dinner for two which was listed as a 3 course meal. We chose the Calamari(1st course), Salad bar(2nd course and steak w/ mashed(3rd course). We waited for a bit thinking the Calamari would come but didn't so we both made our trip to the salad bar. Once we got back to our table realized we had not utensils/napkins and had to as the bartender because server no where in sight. Just barely started eating our salad and the calamari and steak dinner get delivered all at once. Why are we calling this a 3 course dinner when the appetizer comes with the main dish? Our table was tiny and barely enough room for all the plates dishes. Server never asked us once if we needed water refills which we both drank all of. For a resort/restaurant this nice, their staff should have much better standards than this. Food was amazing, but again service was not good. read more

We went to Dockside while staying at the hotel for an event. We made a reservations months in advance and got in right away, which was wonderful. Drinks: First, I ordered the jalapeño margarita and it was delicious. It was the perfect amount of spice and definitely hit the spot. Starters: For an appetizer I ordered the WSU Cougar Gold cheese dip. It came with bread and kettle chips. It was really good and I was pleased that it came with enough bread/chips for all the dip. Often times you always run out of the dippers before the dip, so it was nice that didn't happen Entree: For my entree, I decided to treat myself and order the Sirloin Surf and Turf - boy was that a mistake. It was extremely disappointing. The steak was supposed to be topped with herbed butter and I did not see any. I asked for medium rare, but when I cut into I could tell right away it was undercooked. It was definitely way more rare it should have been. I take my first bite and it was so tough and so stringy that I couldn't break it down. I thought, maybe that's just a bad piece, tried again - same thing. I cut a piece from the other end of the steak - same thing. The whole steak was tough, stringy, and lacking flavor. I ended up not eating it. Moved onto the shrimp - which was rubbery and overcooked. It was a really disappointing. With my entree I got to pick either soup or salad bar and I went with the salad bar. This was probably my favorite part of the meal. They have a huge salad bar with all the toppings you could need. Definitely recommend the salad bar. The service: our waiter was fantastic. He was there when we needed him, but didn't hover. Very sweet man. I probably won't spend the money to dine here again. There are so many great local places to eat in CDA, for less money, that it just wouldn't be worth giving it another shot. read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Brought my family from TX this summer. We arrived about an hour before closing so they were out of several items but it was awesome nonetheless. We had a hilarious waiter who made everything easy. Couldn't have been more impressed with the hostess at Whispers (we had a cocktail there before dinner). We enjoyed the yacht rock playing and the comfortable booths. The clam chowder was delicious and we had the ooey gooyey ice cream sunday. If we get diabetes, it was worth it! They even put a sparkler in it for us. If you are in CDA, eat here and walk around the boardwalk. It does not suck! Highly recommend! read more

I always get the salad bar when going here but I decided to branch out this weekend. I will say that the restaurant was packed - usually a bad sign but I figured they could handle it. I was wrong. We got the French dip & the chicken sandwich. They were both disappointing. The piece of chicken was so small it disappeared inside the bun - for $20?? This is inside the coeurdalene resort. And the views are incredible. Started with the jalapeño pineapple margarita. It has pineapple chunks and jalapeño slices in the cocktail but overall a pretty standard one- nothing out of the world about it. Got the cheese burger soup after and was pleasantly surprised. It tasted like a cheese burger lol. The crab melt was fab. It comes with a small portion of salad that has dressing mixed with it. I wish I had it on the side because the toasted French bread got soggy thanks to the sweet dressing. Salad was fine though- liked the pickled onion touch. The crab meat with cheese on the bread tasted fine. It's very filling. They have nice, comfy booths and service is quite nice. read more

We have tried dockside a handful of times and it's always a hit or big miss. Nothing in between.The view is beautiful. The service is fair. We went for a Mother's Day dinner. I had the chicken Coeur d'Alene. There was nothing about it that I liked. It had zero flavor. Asparagus were soggy the mashed potatoes didn't taste like garlic, mashed potatoes if there's anything in it and the chicken was bland. The chicken was very small. For a $30. Meal I would expect more. Everyone else at the table did not like their food either super disappointing. And I paid $30 for my dish and I wouldn't give you two dollars for it. We went here for Inlander Restaurant week. Overall, the food was okay and the service was good. Here are a few highlights: - some really creative ice cream desserts on the menu - artichoke cougar gold dip was yummy (but only with the pita bread, not the other French bread which tasted a bit stale) - nice view of the water - chicken Coeur d'Alene was super yummy - good portion sizes Here were some downsides: - they have happy hour on the menu with some great cocktail prices but you have to sit at the bar to take advantage of the discounts, which isn't clear on the menu - we were overcharged for one of our drinks (check the receipt before you pay!) - the drinks can be spendy. Tried this restaurant out while we were in town and it was surprisingly good! Got the NY strip with peppercorn and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly med/rare as ordered and came with lighly sautéed fresh vegetables that were super good. The mashed potatoes were just okay but rest of the dish made up for that. For dessert we had the gluten free huckleberry pie and the recess peanut butter ice cream sundae and both did not disappoint. Server checked on us an appropriate amount of times and was pleasant and accommodating. Have lived in CDA returning many times annually to visit. In my humble opinion whomever was in charge of the boat awning really messed up and erased the million-dollar lake view from the Dockside restaurant! Last time (approx 12 mos ago) I went to Dockside & noted an overall decline in quality and staff. Todays visit was a complete disappointment and here's a my noted review; 1) The new remodel was not properly designed nor executed : There are numerous bars in the hotel and placing one in the dockside was a poor decision and it creates a more inferior ambiance. we are coming to relax and eat not hear nor see a bar. It looks ostentatious and out of place. 2) The remodel created yet another oversized service area for ice, drinks and whatever, adding unnecessary noise and less ambiance particularly by the the booths which are designed for relaxation and ambiance. 3) The use of stripes and bright colors is not as soothing nor easy on-the-eye as your former decor. It further distracts from the main feature..THE LAKE-VIEW.. (or what's left of it) 4) The menu has changed (being a 'foodie') is inferior to the previous menu. Food and the quality Therein should be the 2nd focus next to the VIEW. I had pancakes which were tasteless and hard as rock, suggesting no eggs, nor milk, nor great flour. I also ordered sausage which was not only unnecessarily spicy but lingered in my mouth for 10 min. We are in Amazing North Idaho Folks not Mexico! Horrible sausage quality which needs to be upgraded immediately. *** Allen our server was exceptional however and tried so hard to compensate for the lack of food quality. **SUGGESTION; Hire 2 exceptional chefs pay them well and get rid of the 4 currently in the kitchen! Peppercorn Steak was undercooked and underwhelming (picture is from the recooked steak on a small plate. Seriously?!) Ruby Red Trout was very dry and over cooked. Poor excuse from our waitress saying that the Christmas break had the kitchen overwhelmed (it was a Thursday 12/28/23 when we went). I wouldn't go back at all to Dockside. Order nothing but the Shrimp and Crabcake Benedict. My wife and I went here twice, and both times I ordered that Benedict and it came out great (Though the waiter did ask me how I wanted my eggs done, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence). As for my wife, she was unsatisfied both times. So, despite the Dockside having these fancy iPad menus showing pictures of each item, they were not accurate. My wife ordered the Dockside Classic. The picture (and description) was some pancakes covered in huckleberries and blueberries with some eggs and sausage accompanied with some leafy garnish. The pancakes did not include any huckleberries and were hardly covered with berries (only a small amount placed in the center of the pancake. The eggs too were poorly cooked and there was none of the garnish that was in the picture on the stupid iPad. If a restaurant is going to have pictures and descriptions of the menu item, they should be at least mildly accurate. And finally, the service. On one occasion, it was alright, but on the other occasion the waiter seemed to just forget about us (the same one that wanted to know how eggs should be done on a benedict). We had to wave him down to get a check, and, after about 10 minutes of waiting, we scrounged through our wallets to just pay in cash, because it did not seem as if he was going to come back. There were more issues, but this review is getting long already. Go to literally any other breakfast place in town, unless you want a shrimp and crabcake benedict. read more

My husband is a connoisseur of burgers and shakes, so this was a must try. On the shake front, we got a huckleberry and I think the ratio of fruit to ice cream was off, because it ended up tasting more like a smoothie. It was still super yummy, just not quite the texture we were looking for. The burgers were on the smaller end, though surprisingly my patty and my bacon were the same width, which was saying something! I've never had so much bacon on a burger (totally not complaining). It did take awhile to get our food. The best part of the whole lunch was definitely the shoestring fries. They were really crispy and really well seasoned. What is also great, at Dockside, is the Gooeys! And the salad bar! Those two things are great. Sometime we just stop by after we already ate, for a Gooey. Our family of four shares a large. These are so good, we can use them as ways to bribe our kids into doing chores they don't like to do. "If you finish in time, we'll go for a Gooey. ". You've never seen kids work so efficiently as they do for a Gooey. So, be sure to get the salad bar, and the Gooey. They have some good main courses as well. read more

Four of us visited Dockside last night for dinner. The reason was because they brought the prime rib. The serving was 10 ounces. That is a small cut and so we asked for a larger portion. We were willing to pay extra. The chef told our server that he said no. So we ordered the ribeye steaks. The steaks were very thin and ordering medium rare ended up being medium. The salad bar was great. Our server and the bartender were great. For my wife's birthday we were going to make reservations at Dockside. We changed our mind because of the drop in quality and the chef's attitude. I'm not sure if we will be back anytime soon. I'm a retired restaurant owner, chef and consultant. What a shame to have the experience that we had last night. read more

Came here for the gooeys and they were (almost) too adorable to eat! Got the unicorn one and cookie monster. I preferred the unicorn one since I felt the cookie monster was a little too chocolatey for me. Get the personal size ones- the regular ones are HUGE! Definitely something that is meant to be shared and it was super fun for the kids :). The view from this location is also so pretty here too! The restaurant is located in the CDA hotel. read more

HOW CAN YOU ENJOY YOUR FOOD WHEN THE SEATS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE? Like another reviewer stated, the food and service were good (not excellent) relative to the venue and pricing. But, what caused us a problem was the internal structure of the booths. I couldn't get close to the table to eat the clam chowder (which was the one thing that was excellent) because the seats in the booth tip downwards towards the back. I'm sure that there is a precise height range of people that they are perfect for, but not for either my 5' self or my 6' husband. I finally sat sideways so I could get my right foot on the floor to keep me from leaning back. The reason that there are 4 stars was that I noticed a young busser who appears to be on the Aspergers spectrum. He was oh, so precise in stacking the dishes, but fit in with the atmosphere very well. The sad thing was that one of the servers was rather short with him. But, BRAVO to Dockside for hiring him.
