Well worth the hour wait! Though getting us seated took over an hour they had our food out to us within 15 minutes of being seated! And let me tell you that's some of the best fish I've ever had! The thing I hate about like every single place in Dallas is that, for some reason, people feel like you need to dress up every time you go out. The term "30 thousand dollar millionaire" is used so often because of the abundance of people who feel the need to put on their diamonds just to swing by Target. You won't have that problem at Doc's. In face, if you put a cover up on over your swim suit, then you're in danger of being overdressed...if for no other reason than because it's an open-air establishment and it can get hot in the summer. Fortunately, you catch plenty of breezes because this place is right on the intracoastal waterway. Which is cool. When I go to the beach, I hunt out places like this. A casual atmosphere where people seem happy to sit around drinking beer in the middle of the day while dining on a shrimp kabob or a deep fried plank of fish. It's what the beach is all about. Like the kind of atmosphere that would appeal to a Jimmy Buffet fan...except without the terrible music. The "award winning" salad was salty, had way too much calamari, and had a HORRIFIC presentation. Since it was an "Asian" dish, I guess the restaurant thought it would be more authentic to serve it with chopsticks. I ordered Mediterranean tilapia and asparagus and my husband got house burger with fries . Service is absolutely amazing, food was ready sooooo fast ! Tilapia was good , but not for everyone. Sauce it was cooked in was quite different. My husband burger was a little dry but he said his fries were amazing and portion size for price you pay is 4 out 5. Buddy ordered the BBQ bacon shrimp. Go home, wrap shrimp in bacon and put long horn BBQ sauce on it. Same thing. The stuff flounder has no flavor to it and the clam chowder is not "best in town". "Doc's Seafood and Steaks" What are the steaks? There is one on the menu stating Chef's choice hand cut 12oz. What kind? They are all 12oz? Market price? I ordered the fried shrimp as there is no fish and shrimp, you have to have a crab cake too to get that. No substitutions, fries and a small warm cole slaw. Won't even charge you extra for a different side, you have to just buy a 3rd side. The hush puppies were very hard, which tells me the were sitting in a pan under the heat lights too long. IF they by chance cooked them fresh, they were way over cooked, like croutons. I usually go to Snoopy's as there is more variety and they substitute. This was my first try at Doc's after several years coming to the Island as the out of state family wanted to try them after eating at Snoopy's 2 nights before. Oh, it isn't air conditioned so we all had beads of sweat forming. The fan closest to us had a build up of dust and lint on the back side. I wonder how much of that blows throughout the dining room. This was recommended by a guy from the Padre Island National Seashore headquarters as a great local seafood place. It was an OK seafood restaurant, the menu was heavily directed to fried seafood and little else. We wanted grilled Salmon but this was not on the menu, so ended up with Flounder, Shrimp and Crab cakes. The Guacamole Crab Dip was mostly guacamole, not worth it.. Prices overall on the high side.. Our last night on vacation, and we wanted to eat something local and nice. After reading the reviews, we chose Doc's. So glad we did. The food was so good. The view was amazing, and we timed it perfect to catch the sunset. Service was great. There was live music. Have been to Doc's three or four times hoping for a better experience, however this place is very busy and the environment and where it sets is definitely a plus. Food is average wait staff is a little below average. Mixed drinks or not well done but they have quite a bit to choose from at the bar. Fish is bland and the fried fish is not the best on the island. Menu items are pricey and the signature menu item has got a very small portion size. If the staff was a little bit nicer and the entrees more fairly priced for the portion size, it may have earned a four-star. read more

Stopped her for dinner last night. A storm rolled in just as we got to the restaurant so they pulled blinds down to block the rain from coming in the open sides. Some customers still got wet from the rain but we were safe where we were seated. Love music was playing and sounded great. We ordered crab guacamole for appetizer - do not recommend. You can't taste any crab it just tastes like regular guacamole. I had the tuna tacos for dinner which were great in flavor. Only issue with them is that you couldn't pick them up and eat them as tacos because the soft tortillas would break in half. My fiancé ordered crab stuffed flounder and LOVED it. Doc's is a low key restaurant under the causeway. Get there early or you'll be waiting 2+hrs for you table. Although the wait was long, the view of the bay, gorgeous sunset, and live music, and bar made up for it. The restaurant does take away orders which can be delivered to you and enjoyed at the open air bar instead of waiting for a table. We used this option to order some appetizers to enjoy with our drinks while we waited for our table. The young lady running orders to people was so quick and efficient. I've never seen someone hustle like she did! Once our table was ready, we were greeted by our lovely waitress. She immediately took our orders and the food was brought out so quick! I've never been to a restaurant, busy or dead, that was that efficient and without a single mess up on the order! Can't beat the location or the atmosphere. Ordered flounder blackened. I grew up on the back deck of a shrimp boat in summers. I know flounder. It was the real thing. Overall tasty, but sparse on blackening spice and seemed more like a pan seared. Was a bit oily. Served with a lobster cream sauce. Buttery, rich, thick, and oily. Good flavor. Whenever I roll into a new town I am always looking for a cool place to ride my motorcycle to, get a bite to eat, and drink a cold beer. I moved to Corpus one week ago and this was the first place I tried. I am glad I did. I ordered the Baja Bird which is a really good blackened chicken breast with an avocado baja sauce and fresh pico de gallo. I always try to order a locally brewed beer. So I got the Corpus brewed Lorelei Khryseis Blonde Ale. It was tasty. Finally Cerina did a great job at the bar. There are several other restaurants in the area that I want to try, but I will definitely be back here. read more

Horrible food and service. Expensive with small portions and a mountain of French fries. Coleslaw was cabbage, mayo, and a few shreds of carrots. Burgers are over cooked and missing half the toppings. Okay my first time going this week on a Wed in March during the evening. The place has superb view of the water. The deck is high above the water and its open all around the restuarant so you you have no problem seeing the water. Tables are nice and big for the familes or group of friends. Its a very casual place nothing fancy great for a seafood place. For dinner I had Blackened Flounder and it came out very tasty, with a side of steamed veggies, and a garden side salad (got the house vinegrette that was original). I am a big eatter and this was plenty. The tables also gets a nice loaf of bread which was good (a bit on the doughy side on the inside nice and crispy on the out). I wish this place would of had drink specials for the weekday crowd or something it would of made the experiance better. My well drinks were not the greatest all I had was a vodka and cranberry but you can tell the cranberry was crap and well I didnt ask for a specific vodka so its my fault as well what I got. Drinks were about 4.50 plus another 50 cents for juice . My dinner plate about 15.99 typical for seafood places. The bathroom was clean but reaked of ciggerrate smoke. Idk why employees or whoever is smoking just cant hide outside to smoke instead. I wasnt the only complaint a child went into the bathroom as was appauled by the smell as well. I would go again. Next time I see the manager I will make some commendations on drink specials and not to smoke in the bathroom. Its a shame I didnt say somthing than as I did see a manager on the premesis. read more

Never been here but always saw it as I drive to the island from Corp. Christi. Finally decided to take a chance and it was great! I ordered the stuff chicken with rosemary potatoes. Chicken was stuffed with crawfish, cheese, and bacon! It was really delicious! I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. Though it could've been better, it wasn't really bad. Always eat here on our way from the coast. Always have loved it. But this time, I don't know what happened since this time last year, but the food is no where near as good as it was. It took forever to get to us, and the orders were wrong and lukewarm at best. We ordered oysters Rockefeller and they came out cold, pretty much uncooked. Had to send them back which we never have done, but they dish was obviously uncooked! The waitress was nice though. Won't be back. It was a good run while it lasted though! And in case anyone wonders, it was not very crowded when we went, so we couldn't justify the lack of quality and cooking. read more
