Excellent flounder in season. Docs gave me 3 large fillets in one order of flounder. Yumm and my husband agreed as he ate half my plate. It was crowded on a Saturday night, but we ordered to go. Can't believe wife & I have never been here before. We always see this place when on our way to the beach. Today we decided to just drive out here and try it out. We weren't disappointed!!!! The beautiful laguna scenery compliments the great tasting seafood. Sitting out on the patio deck enjoying the gulf breeze while eating some delicious seafood made it a great dinner date with my wife. Watching the Bass boats pass by and the seagulls doing flybys. We will definitely return to catch a football game at their nice bar and have a drink or two. The food was average at best, the service however was terrible, you think waiting an hour and a half to be seated is long, we'll think again when you include the hour it took for the food to come out. The ambiance is alright since it gives off old classic american bar but tbh i would rather go to a famous david's bbq next time and the food, service, and ambiance would be better. Waited 2 hours only to be served super small oysters for 28.00 dollars, they didn't bring my side salad out before the meal and the waitress literally said we looked like we would ask for our beer dressed. I'm not sure what that meant exactly. The jumbo shrimp was definitely not jumbo either. When I asked about it she said yeah that's the shrimp you ordered. 120.00 later and would definitely not revisit this place. Started with a bowl of clam chowder. Delicious but slightly salty. The chowda had plenty of clam pieces. The crab cakes have a lot of crab meat. These are a must try. My husband had a flounder po'boy. It was on the dry side, but fresh tasting. I ordered the Cajun fries. They were crunchy with loads of crawfish and cheddar and bacon prices. It was a satisfying dish. The prices are a bit high for the type of food and the atmosphere. Would be nice to see a cleaner place. Had dinner with family from out of state. Enjoyed the sunset, The special margaritas, the food, and of course, our company! The service, in particular our waitress, really needed some help in dealing with our party of 12. The restaurant seemed really crowded and loud and the humidity was Unreal. The fans overhead didn't seem to help very much and it didn't look very professional for all of the staff to be sweating as they're greeting you or seating you or serving your drinks and food. Came in for dinner on a whim. This was our 2nd time here and the food is absolutely delicious. The menu is just bug enough with not too many options. I had the blackend tuna tacos again and husband had the fried sampler platter. The tuna was so good. It melted in my mouth and the guacamole sauce mixed with the cabbage was a blast of flavor in my mouth. The fried crab cake was a bit deceiving at first, you think it will be a ball of fried batter, but as soon as you cut into it you can see its loaded with real crab meat. Fried fish was flakey and had an amazing taste with the batter they use. Food is excellent! Now the service and the prices are why I give four stars. In my opinion mixed drinks are way to expensive for the size you get. The meal portions could be larger for the price. I feel as though you are paying more for the view than the food. The service sucks! We were sat and got drinks quickly but everything else took foreverrrr. We had to ask the manager for our check, as the waiter never came back after we received our food. I'm glad the drunk glasses are large, because I would have run out of tea a lot sooner. I never got a refill and ended up drinking my husband's water. The restaurant is on the water and open air. When it's hot it's hot and when it's cold it's cold. They can shut the garage doors, but it was still a little chilly in the restaurant when we ate tonight. This is just something you deal with. I stopped off at Doc's on a recent road trip to Corpus. The place is a large open porch affair with a laid back ambience and with the gulf breeze it wasn't too hot on this particular afternoon. I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi, it came covered with avocado sauce and Pico de Gallo. I also ordered rice pilaf and stir-fried beans. The food was very good, though the portions were small, (and I'm not a big eater). Doc's was very good! Fiancé and I dressed up and found the dress code to be way more casual. The sunset was ruined by a cloudy day, but the food, live music and service came through. I ordered the Coastal Tuna Sandwich, blackened and medium rare. It came out looking like a delicious monstrous fish burger with seasoned fries. The color of the meat was really pink/reddish which grossed out my fiancé but I eat sushi so it didn't bother me. The flavor of avocado and coleslaw blended really well with the fish. The mango sauce made it taste sweet and the sandwich was amazing. Again if eating pink/red meat freaks you out order it at Medium instead. Despite waiting 45 minutes and being seated in the last hour Doc's was well worth it. Our Hostess seated us with an ocean side view. Our server, Tall Sean, was very punctual with refills and checking on us despite the crowd. The music is all played by one man and his guitar playing lots of crowd favorites. We've eaten here twice now. The first time it was 100% a winner, winner seafood dinner. The most recent time -- it was raining, lunch, and not crowded at all. It seems they do better when it's busy.... The food was mixed. The ahi tuna with wasabi drizzle was incredible. My kiddo's steak was pretty good, too. My ceviche, however, was not the best. The kids meals were okay -- I admit I have a couple of picky eaters, so I always give allowances for that. I do recommend...and we would likely go back. This place was hopping on this weekend night with live music both upstairs and downstairs! Drinks were reasonably priced and were made with a generous pour. My companion and I shared the crab stuffed flounder, served with veggies and rice and it was excellent! Note they did charge extra to substitute extra veggies for rice. I really really hate writing negative reviews...but I sadly have nothing nice to say about this restaurant aside from the fact that our waitress was really nice. We arrived around 1:30 pm and we're told that the wait would be 20-30 minutes, which was fine. So we waited and waited and waited some more...no exaggeration here, the restaurant was over half empty and there were still 4 parties waiting to be seated. Did I mention that there's NO a/c in this place? AND NO FANS IN THE WAITING AREA? It was disgustingly hot and all the kids in all 4 parties were getting cranky. 40 minutes pass and they finally seat all 4 parties one after the other. We wait a few minutes for a waitress, she takes our drink orders and 10 minutes until our sodas arrive. We place our orders and they say they have no crab meat. So basically, we wasted our time waiting about an hour in the heat just to find out that everything we wanted to order was not available. We ordered a shrimp cocktail for $15 and when it arrived, we tried the sauce it comes with and decided not to even bother staying for more food. The sauce tasted like straight warm mayonnaise. Absolutely the worst sauce I've ever had...and I got horribly sick later. We paid for our sodas and shrimp and left. Tell people at the DOOR when they arrive that you're out of something like crab...or shrimp...or fish, please! That was a real waste of time and I'll never come back to your restaurant because your service was hideous. read more

This is one of my favorite places to go to for a fun date night when we used to live in Corpus. It has beautiful views of the water and it's truly one of the best local restaurants in Corpus Christi.
