This review is for the hot pot. It was the blandest thing Ive ever eaten. The "broth" is hot water with a piece of kombu seaweed (no bonito or other salt source). As it cooks down it continues to taste like nothing, at least nothing with any flavor. Isn't using salt cooking 101? It had potential, the ingredients all looked good, but everything gets cooked in flavorless broth and so it tastes equally flavorless. They do give you two dipping sauces: a vinegar soy sauce mix and a soy sesame sauce that's a bit sweet. Of course, neither sauce was particularly salty so all I was craving was straight up soy sauce to fix this disaster. I feel bad not giving a higher review because the other food I've had here is fine, although often under seasoned, but this is just too big of fail. Go to NJ or Flushing for authentic, fairly priced Korean. We all know that Ktown has been stripped of its authenticity and value for a few years now. Now since that's out of my system, we can talk about Williamsburg Korean. I've tried a decent number of dishes, and not all are equal in quality or taste. What I don't recommend: Kalbi Jjim, any of the burritos, Korean Fried Chicken, or the Kimchi Fried Rice. Their Kalbi Jjim is actually the worst I've ever had, and there's a lot of other options for Korean Fried Chicken in this area now. The Kimchi Jjigae and Dwenjang Jjigae is surprisingly decent, but these stews may not be for those unfamiliar with the cuisine. Also, they are going to offer Naengmyun (cold noodles in broth or spicy sauce) in the summer! I appreciate their mix of authentic Korean and fusion Korean dishes- there's something for everyone. Also, they include 6 banchans (side dishes) with your order (try the potato salad if it's on rotation that day!). The smokeless KBBQ grills at the table are also a plus, and though the price may be high, sometimes the hike to NJ or Queens isn't appealing. read more

This place is wonderful. We just had dinner here and ordered the marinated pork shoulder (ordered spicy) and the bulgogi. These entrees came with a delicious selection of banchan, a side of rice and dipping sauce. We also ordered pork dumplings and the scallion kimchi pancake. We cooked our meats ourselves KBBQ style and everything was incredible!! The service was impeccable, offered great suggestions and drink choices. Super cute spot. Literally stumbled upon this quaint establishment on my way to another for dinner. So this DIY experience is one everyone should try at least once. The decor here is cozy and inviting. A nice spot for dates or just hanging with friends. Thumbs up on the wings - spicy, crispy, full of flavor. I finally can say, I like Japanese cuisine. So the six samples of veggies were delightfulo. Each dish held it's own with distinct flavor and texture. Presentation was not grand, but enough to keep the oos and ahhhs coming. So grillmasters, you don't get a slab of steaks but small portions - really small. That's probably the only disappointing aspect of this experience. But cooking yourself at the table, IN the table was cool. The meats come well seasoned with veggies to grill as well. The food was great and so was the staff. We ordered two different bibimbaps and I got the beef. The bowl was flavorful and the spicy sauce was served on the side. My only problem was that some of the beef were clumped together. The waiter was super attentive. We also ordered the fried tofu and I definitely recommend it because it was very flavorful. The potato flour skin was amazing and their sauce went great with the silken tofu. My friend and I both ordered a ribeye taco but regretted afterwards because the bibimbap filled us up. What to get: pork belly BBQ Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: late night, Korean BBQ, drinks with group Wait: 0 mins (Sunday 11PM for 3) The Experience: After an amazing Kpop concert, my fellow concert-goers and I were craving some Korean BBQ to top off the end of our night. Mind you, it's Sunday night, so we were just barely able to make it for an hour before they closed, but we were thankful to get our celebratory fill. For the 3 of us, we wanted to do a single serving of bugolgi and a double of pork belly. A single can feed 1-2, while a double is 2-3 people. Two of us also opted to have either soju or raspberry wine. The wine reminded me of a sweet wine cooler, so it's very tasty and easy to drink (if that's all you're having). I think you get about 6 different banchan (side dishes), dokebi rice [soooo good!], 1 sauce for your for your BBQed meat, and a bowl of leaves for wraps (with cucumber and carrot sticks). Also each meat item had some veggies with it: mushroom, onion, and garlic. It had been awhile since I'd barbequed, but it was all delicious in a wrap. They'll even give you more leaves once you eat through your first bowl. Yay! I finished up with the black sesame mochi ice cream. They cut them up into slices so you can share, but it was great. Somewhat reminds me of coffee beans or vanilla bean. I think the only mishap was that we had a miscalculation of our payment since one of my party was visiting from outside the country for the first time. I think at first it came off as if we didn't want to tip, but it was a misunderstanding and I hope the server wasn't too peeved once we figured it out. The outdoor seating was nice and was able to get a table for 3 and they even combined tables for us since we have a large order coming. So I thought, how can there possibly be a Korean restaurant in Brooklyn? Hmmmm I gotta go try it out! All in all, it wasn't worth it & I wouldn't recommend it. UGH. I opted for the kimchi fried rice with pork & a kimchi pajeon. The kimchi pajeon took forever to come out. Our server came by and let us know the cook had burned it the first time so he had them make us a new one. OUCH. That was the first red flag. As soon as it landed, we immediately dug in. The pajeon itself although crispy on the outside tasted a bit undercooked inside & the outer skin tasted like it was made off a burnt frying pan. Y'know what I'm talking about? That burnt aftertaste. Kimchi inside would have been better if they used older kimchi instead of something that was recently made as it left a sour aftertaste. Kimchi fried rice with pork was SO bad, I picked at the meat and left it. Our server never came by to ask us how the food was soooo, never let him know but then again, I could have called him over. Meh, too much work. The rice tasted like it was mixed with some kind of ketchup and chili paste. It wasn't working for the fried rice. The little side dishes were only 3 different types of kimchi and 2 different kind of sea beans as i remember. It is way lighter than usual. Their side dishes are extremely salty especially the veggies, kimchi and pickled side dish are fine. We ordered Braised Berkshire Pork Belly, Jap Chae, Korean Fried Chicken, and Kabli. The pork belly was very salty and it is not your normal Korean style pork belly, it was just regular bacon slices.... the kalbi were not short ribs, it was regular beef cubes. Japchea had a very heavy black pepper taste, the Korean fried chicken was decent but didn't have much soy garlic taste. We ate here on Saturday night, a party of 7, 4 adults, 3 kids. We ordered 8 portion of bbq meat. Appetizer took so long to come out. Beside the cube steaks, other bbq meat platter came very little, with shredded cabbage underneath, which were like dishonest for my opinion. Instead of putting vegetable underneath, why dont put the weight of the meat itself? We spent about $450++ included 20% tips that we never agreed to it. Nobody mentioned about refill on side dishes (banchan) which came about in 6 little containers (2 times only) and when we asked for refill for the 3rd time, although the waiter said yes, yet it never came out. The galbi was so delicious I asked for another round. It was disappointing that the meat portion wasn't as much as I expect it to be especially around 60 bucks for double meat. To all the negative reviews: whatever. you're wrong. The service is a little slow here, but the food is totally worth the wait. Sure, I might be obsessed with Korean food, but with good reason- because this place is so close to me! I like to get the lunch box during lunch sometimes because it is quite a lot of food and you're able to try a bunch of things- there are a lot of vegetarian options and they come out with the banchan which is very fresh and delicious. It's a big space and the back area has a bar. Most tables are set up for Korean BBQ which is a fun thing to do with friends. As another reviewer said, this is Korean food for non-korean discerning eaters. There wasn't an Asian soul in the place besides myself. The fried chicken wings may have been double fried but it honestly didn't taste like they were - no crispy outer and the sauce just tasted like soy sauce. They were salty and non dimensional. The soju drinks were so weak, I nearly asked to check if they had even added soju. (Even the "soju on the rocks" tasted like they watered it down. The short rib burrito was large, but once I bit into it, realized it was just full of grains. There were only about 2 small pieces of meat inside. Lastly, the prices of everything were too high for the portion and quality. I'd steer away and go try somewhere else. read more
