I came to this place since I saw that it has a wide variety of flavors online, but when I arrived, the place only has one third of the flavors listed in the site. I got the hazelnut and the toasted coconut flavors, and although they taste okay, the ice cream does melt faster than normal, even during winter months. The one thing that I disliked when I get the cone is that the paper outside is glued to the cone, which makes portions of it inedible. Good service, but the food is 5.5/10. read more

Well after dinner we went to have dessert and it is my first time and I wish they would give more information. It was yummy I had the one with chocolate gelato with hazelnut and my fiance had a ok one. It is worth going too. read more

I came to this new gelato place in this newly developed area with the understanding that they had quite a broad variety of flavors, based on their website. I was disappointed, but only mildly, to find they weren't all in stock, and that the place was out of waffle cones as well. However, the flavors I did try were quality stuff; a chocolate with candied orange and a seasonal peppermint that were both excellent. They had a decent selection of vegan flavors as well for those who prefer. Conversely, their mousse has gelatin in it so I'll steer clear, but there are a variety of confections on offer. Since this location wasn't as big as I'd hoped, I may visit another location before I come back here. read more

The staff was so friendly and helpful when I stopped by yesterday evening. Her cheerful attitude really brightened my experience. This has been a go-to local gelato shop of choice for a while - they have a great variety of flavors as well as nondairy / vegan options. I ordered the honey marscapone fig and bacio on a sugar cone and my guest had the vegan toasted coconut and vegan dark chocolate on a sugar cone. Can't wait to come back! read more

The staff is super friendly and very hardworking. She allowed us to sample flavors. While she was taking our order she was juggling troubleshotting an ubereats order but still took care of us while she was clearly stressed as the only person in the store at that time- kudos to her! The flavors were all really amazing and delicious- you'll definitely find something you're into- also gluten free options. They unfortunately don't serve those popsicles any more. But the nice thing I appreciate is if you order a small cup - which you can choose two flavors - the server is super generous and the gelato overflows the cup! Yum!! read more

Got the stratiacella and passion fruit sorbet. Like that they do two flavors in one cup. Wish that the stratiechella had those more classic chocolate ribbons but the passion fruit was killer. Relatively fast service even though we were stuck behind a big group of kids. Perfect post dinner snack vibes. read more

What separates this place from other Gelato places? The Biscoff. If you're a fan of coffee flavors then you must try their Biscoff. It has a buttery, coffee, cookie-like flavor. I mixed it with their hazelnut gelato and I literally died and went to gelato heaven. Wow! I'm so glad I asked which flavors were popular and tried each and every one. The only negative here is that I want to try more flavors next time, but I may end up getting the Biscoff and hazelnut every time. *Shrugs* Biscoff for life! I definitely recommend stopping by here if you're around the way. read more

I tried a whole bunch of flavors but the ones I ended up getting were a sorbet , as well as a coffee and a chocolate ice cream. Service was pretty good and it was quiet on a nice Sunday There's no parking except on the street. So I'd recommend if you come here make it an Uber or Lyft or you're going to pay through the roof. my main issue is they didn't have Wi-Fi at all which was open just a little bit strange for an ice cream shop where you're kind of expected to sit and chill out No pun intended Overall if I was in the area I would definitely come back again read more

We are sorry for not being able to serve Dolci Gelati product at Unusual Company anymore. We helped have served the product since the beginning and now because of the owner's decision to raise prices and charge delivery fees without prior approval we had to more on to another high-end supplier of Gelato & Sorbetto. This is my favorite gelato place in DC. As a person who lived in Rome for 6 months, I can confidently say that this place is MUCH BETTER THAN PITANGO. Their gelato's taste and quality is beyond amazing. You actually feel like you are eating the flavor. They also have very cool and creative flavor combinations. They display other italian desserts (like tiramisu) however i havent tried them; because I get distracted with their gelato. My favorite flavor of all time is the PISTACHIO. However, I believe their truck's pistachio taste different (worse) than their in-store pistachio flavor. read more

Dolci Gelati Por Vida! I say. I wasn't aware of this cute little shop (the chandeliers and wood tables were gorg) until my Yelp DC Fam brought me here. Located amongst a mixed development area, this all-glass gelati shop features much more than gelato. Fun Fact: Gelati is the plural word for gelato. Why yes I did look that up to see if there was a difference haha. Dolci Gelati features gelato, gelato pops, sorbet, and savory sandwiches! I was wanting to try the prosciutto mozarrela panini but sadly they were out for the day. BUMMER. For those of y'all that are Vegan, they even offer Vegan gelato options for you to enjoy which is always nice. Everyone should be able to get their sweet tooth fixin' I say! A magnitude of flavor offerings can sometimes be a tad overwhelming but it was much appreciated how Dolci allows you to sample multiple flavors before biting the bullet and committing to not one, but two flavors! That's right folks... no matter the size you order, you can get a half/half gelati creation. Damn right I'ma get my cake and eat it too (however the saying goes). I opted for a full serving of their lemon sorbet as my friends grabbed a two flavor creation. Before y'all start to be like- umm Tomas what about the gelato?!- I got that too because I grabbed a mini gelato pop! If you're still reading this review then PLEASE, for the love of fellow dessert connoisseurs, grab 1 or 3 of these beautiful angels. After much deliberation, I opted for the salted caramel gelato pop and was shocked that there's much more to the process. After you select your "pop of choice" you'll get to do the following steps. - choose which type of chocolate/drizzle(s) you want to dip your pop in -decide on which topping you want it rolled around in I've never seen anything like this and for less than $2 a mini pop the choices are endless! This is hands down the best gelato I have ever had in the United States (sorry, Italy is thus far the winner). It has a level of creamy glory that is simply unmatched. The store also looks like a cartoon of your childhood came to life - which I greatly appreciate. The reason this place didn't get 5 stars is because they seem to have awkward opening and closing policy. I have come by this place a few times with a hand scribbled note saying open or closing outside of the hours that are publicly advertised. Either change your hours or show up please! read more

Friends loved the gelato, and I'm not much of a sweets guy but you can still cool off with some blended lemonade frozen drinks (lavender, mango, passion fruit, etc). Fun cafe, although a bit pricey they do a great job with their menu. read more

I'm an equal opportunity ice cream lover. I love Black Cherry Talenti in the little clear plastic containers but I also love the 25 cent Strawberries and Cream Popsicle that you get in school lunch. If it's cold, sweet and creamy there is a very high chance that I will love it. That being said, Dolci Gelati is gelato taken the next level. A few years ago I had worked with the owner to create a custom menu for an apres ski themed party and he came up with unique flavors such as Gingerbread Cookie, Earl Gray Tea and Egg Nog. It was a huge hit and I subsequently spent the next few days dreaming about ways I could incorporate their gelato into my daily diet. Cus Thai Coconut Lemongrass Gelato totally counts as a serving of fruit right? To get my fix, I head over to their location in Shaw which not only serves fresh, handmade gelato but other insane looking confectioneries and pastries that is hard to say no to. In particular, I love their hand dipped gelato pop which they make and customize right in front of you. I'm a purist so I go for vanilla gelato with a dark chocolate dip, topped with dark chocolate chips and chopped pistachios with a salted caramel drizzle. ZoNg. It was so rich I had a hard time finishing but with the help of my husband I pressed on. A smart tip would be to go with the mini size and taste ALL of the topping combinations. read more

I was going to the Giant in the area when I decided I wanted something sweet and Dolci Gelati Cafe showed up nearby when i searched on yelp. Luckily for, it was right across giant. I assumed they only had gelato but boy was I was wrong. They have gelato, hand dipped gelato pops, cookies, cookie sandwiches, cakes, macarons, cannolis, coffee, and much more. Definitely a great place if you have a sweet tooth. I ordered a gelato cookie sandwich with a chocolate chip cookie, red velvet cookie, peanut butter cup gelato all around in chocolate chip topping. The cookie sandwich was good. The cookies were soft and had big chunks of chocolate but the sandwich does fall apart after one bite. All the ice cream falls out so it gets really messy. Dolci Gelati Cafe is a great gelato shop near the convention that you should definitely try. I'll definitely try the hand dipped gelato pop next time I'm here!! read more

5 stars all the way! This place is a hidden gem. I really have no idea why this place is not as well known as it should be. They have gained a hardcore and very serious life long customer. This place is one of those places you just run into and fall in love with. I ordered two of their gelato Popsicles. Yes, one was not enough. And if there was no such thing as will power, over eating or calories, I would of ate at least 20 of these Popsicles. Yes, it's my new sinful desert spot. So the Popsicles run like this... First, you pick a Popsicle flavor also known in my book as the Popsicle base. They have everything from vanilla to pear. Then, you decide on an outer chocolate coating. This base ice cream popsicle is saturated in a warm and luscious chocolate coating. The chocolate coating ranges from dark chocolate to pistachio chocolate all the way to strawberry flavored white chocolate. Then, you go about picking your toppings. The toppings range from coconut to nuts to fresh dark chocolate shavings. Was very surprised to find that Dolci has amazing gelato, and so close to home. Prices are on par for an ice cream shop, I think around $6 for a medium sized cup. The workers here are super friendly. The first time I came, they pretty much forced me to try every flavor and I had no problem with this. The gelatos are creamy and very flavorful/fresh, consistency is perfect. My favorite flavors are hazelnut, double dark chocolate, mascarpone fig, and salted caramel. But there are so many and honestly you can't go wrong with any. read more

Pretty good gelato, but expensive. The flavors were all pretty good. My son asked me how gelato is different from ice cream... I said I like the texture and the true-to-life flavor. Chocolate should taste like your eating a good chocolate bar. Strawberry should taste like your biting into a ripe, super-sweet strawberry. And the texture should be dense and gooey. Dolci was pretty good on both counts. I did notice that the flavors got kinda old the more I ate (diminishing marginal returns), so it was maybe not quite as good as you'll find in Italy, where it's delicious I til you hit the bottom of the cup. read more

Excellent service - my family rolled in last Sunday afternoon with seven adults and five children and the sole woman serving the gelati and sorbet didn't even flinch. She gave samples to anyone who asked and patiently got everyone served. She smiled and was gracious and remained amazingly calm. Excellent gelati and sorbet - between the MANY varieties and flavors that our group tried (you can order multiple flavors in a single cup!) there was not a single one that was not liked. I am so happy that I stumbled across this place! They have gelato popsicles that they can customize for you! You can pick from salted caramel, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry etc. then you can get your popsicle dipped in your choice of chocolate. They had dark chocolate, milk chocolate, pistachio chocolate, and so many more choices. Afterwards, you can pick two toppings to put on top of your pop. Finally, they drizzle a chocolate of your choice on top of all of the deliciousness. When you take a bite out of the amazing popsicle, you will fall in love. It is delicious and decedent. They even have mini versions if you want to try a wide variety of flavors. If the popsicles are not for you, you can even try their regular gelato. They had so many unique flavors! The Food: I randomly stopped by this place when I was having a craving for ice cream and I'm so glad I did! They have everything you ever wanted in desserts but I had my eye on the gelato prize. Every flavor I had was great but I settled on lavender and honey marscapone fig, both were amazing. There is an array of flavors, some traditional but a lot were unique and delicious. You also get topping options! The Service/Location: It is located in a nice area, good for after dinner dessert. They have an area for dogs to play and in general a lot of people brought their dogs to the place. The owners are also extremely nice and knowledgeable of their desserts. Great spot for Gelato. I got a mix of pistachio and vanilla fig. Prices are average and they are taking precautions due to COVID by only taking orders from their front window. The taste of the Gelato was refreshing and the flavors were not overbearing. The man that took our order was very nice offering samples and explaining to us the new menu items. I didn't get to try any of their treats but maybe next time. Great location with other shops nearby. read more

The hazelnut gelato was so yummy! The strawberry was also yummy:) The gelato pop was cool because you get to customize the toppings and chocolate sauces. The vanilla pop itself though wasn't good. It was super icey:/ but the toppings made up for it. Loved the hazelnut and coconut with dark chocolate. Can't wait to go back and try the espresso chocolate sauce next time! read more

Got the Vanilla vegan gelato and it was just okay. The flavor was pretty weak and the texture was not super creamy (parts of it tasted icy and slimy at the same time). I wish the vanilla flavor was stronger- I could really only taste the oatmilk. Will be back to try the non vegan flavors read more

Dolci Gelati, an artisan gelato company, was started in Washington DC in 2006 by pastry chef Gianluigi Dellaccio. Dolci Gelati offers many great varieties of gelato with a consistent level of quality that can only be achieved with artisan precision. The process starts every morning with deliveries from local dairy farms and includes handpicked fruits, fine chocolate which Chef Gianluigi imports from a small sustainable farm in Ecuador and tempers himself, and other fresh, rare ingredients. Then, like a chemist, Gianluigi begins to make his creations, creating the perfect harmonies between fruit, sugar, milk and chocolate. Gianluigi's rich experience in pastry allows him to make creative magic in his "Laboratorio del Gelato" or gelato laboratory. Gianluigi uses an authentic Italian recipe that has been in his family for generations but mixes in local ingredients and exotic flavors to create a modern twist to a traditional Italian favorite.

Gianluigi Dellaccio was born in Naples, Italy in 1975. Originally a star water polo player, Gianluigi played for Naples as well as for Italy and became the Italian champion scoring the winning goal in 1993. In 1996, Gianluigi made a major career change deciding to pursue his other passion, pastry and the art of making gelato. In 2006, Gianluigi left Galileo to open his gelato factory, Dolci Gelati. Gianluigi distributes gelato to various restaurants in DC, specialty supermarkets such as Dean and Deluca and Wholefoods, catering companies, food carts at venues like The National's ballpark. He is also the Gelato Ambassador of the world.

I requested lemon slices, which he brought. And I proceeded to finish the entire bottle of sparkling by the end of the meal...guess I was thirsty! But I appreciated the option of both. I forgot to ask for a straw, but saw them in a container at the register right behind my table, so I got one myself. After ordering I noticed a nearby table had some bread so I asked Noel if they served complimentary bread. He said yes and apologized for not bringing it initially. Not that I needed it, but I don't eat bread with butter often and this was a night out to indulge a bit. There were two slices, nothing special. My food arrived within about 10-15 minutes and looked so scrumptious. I ordered the lamb and short rib meatballs and Brussels sprouts. The meatballs were pretty good, but what made them even better was the tzatziki sauce. I didn't realize the green rice was on one side of the plate until I was almost done. That tzatziki sauce was really all I needed to go with the meatballs. It was cool and creamy to go with the dry, meatiness of the meatballs. I honestly wish there had been more of it! I did not finish the rice, which didn't look super appetizing because of the intense green color. I will say though, I'm not a fan of spicy food but the tzatziki had a kick. I think perhaps due to chopped jalapeños. I tried to avoid them once I realized. The Brussels were delicious! Roasted to perfection, not too charred and not too mushy. I requested the green goddess sauce on the side because I'm not a huge sauce person, but once I tried it, I couldn't stop. Again, the combination of the creaminess of the sauce with the flakiness of the Brussels was a genius pairing. During the meal the beverage manager stopped by. I didn't have any drinks with the meal, but perhaps I will return to see what they have. Noel brought the bill at my request, then brought over the portable device so I could pay at the table.
