This is a cute shop. Calm ambiance, pretty fast service given the amount of options they have. The drink was fairly tasty. Comparable pricing to chains. Dollop was recommended to me when visiting Chicago. I actually came to this location 2 times. The first time, we ordered an espresso and cortado. The barista forgot to call the espresso order, so she kindly remade it. Both drinks came out sour tasting. The next day, I came back, but to try another drink. My friend ordered another espresso, and it came out sour tasting again. I don't think it was made right because it should have some foam without an oily coating on top if it was made right. I ended up ordering a matcha latte on my second visit, which was also poorly made. I don't think they whisk the matcha when they're mixing the matcha in, because it was super clumpy as I was drinking my latte. I may give another location a visit if I'm around again. read more

Instead of going with my standard cold brew, I decided to try one of Dollop's specialty latte, when in Rome! Wish I had stuck with a cold brew...lol. The staff member working today was very nice and patient with a long line and only her working. Loved the vibes, it wasn't too crowded but there was a steady stream of people and some sitting at the tables. They had some Laura Collins Real Housewives artwork that I was obsessed with so if you're a Bravo fan, check her stuff out or visit Dollop to see it hanging up! This Dollop is in the right place of town. I was roaming around Streeterville trying to find a place to do work, eat lunch, and finish off with a nice latte and this took care of all three. The lighting and availability of seating was the first thing I noticed while walking in. The staff looks very occupied but doesn't keep them away from serving their customers. Great management and multitasking. I found a seat and waited for my order. Their turkey sandwiches are phenomenal and don't leave you feeling like you just spent money unnecessarily on a sandwich. I can say there aren't a lot of outlets. But people come and go and you'll end up with one. Ambiance is great and it seems like people like to meet new friends in the area. For my first Dollop experience, as there are a few in area, could be better! I work in the area in the weekends and needed a caffeinated jump start. On the go, the Americano is my preferred choice! For espresso and hot water, I had to wait an additional 5-7 minutes after my sandwich when the place wasn't really busy. The service was really kind and pleasant, but they were rather lackadaisical. I'm a big fan of the Dollop Coffee shops, and boy, are there quite a few in this area! That is definitely not a complaint. One of my best friends from out of town suggested we go co-work here for few hours on a Monday afternoon, and I was so psyched to get to this location, since I hadn't checked it out beforehand. I'm a frequent visitor of the River North location, and I've been to the smaller one near the Ohio St location as well. There's a community vibe in here, so different groups of people were sitting at smaller tables that might seem like single-party tables in other settings. I love that about this Dollop location -- it's all about workspaces and community. After picking a table, I grabbed an iced coffee, and it was handed to me quickly. There were also a variety of pastries available, but I was heading to dinner soon after, so I passed. It was spacious with tall ceilings and long tables, square tables, round tables, and lounge tables galore. The coffee itself, excellent. I'm no coffee conniseuer, and I have no idea if the coffee bean came from a single batch, from the Andes and roasted in some 1000 year old roaster handed down from a grandma. However, I do know that I got the Mexican mocha with Cayenne and that ISH was the ISH. I also know that the cappuccino my brother in law ordered was strong and robust. And lastly, I strongly have an inkling that the Barista's behind the bar know what they are doing with the coffees that are being served here at Dollop Coffee shop. I love to try local roasted coffee so I stopped by total three coffee shops during my visit at Chicago, Intelligentsia's Millennium Park coffeebar, Umbria River North Café and Dollop coffee co.. I have to admit that I am spoiled because I can find Starbucks on every corner and they all offer espresso coffee so I compare theirs with Starbucks. Intelligentsia and Umbria got the same grade that means no one better than another. Both coffee taste like Starbucks with fancy latter art. My only compliant on Umbria is store space: only few bar stools and even they put some tables and chairs next door but it was very dark in the morning. Dollop is the one messed up my coffee, watery, weak coffee with no taste. It ruins not my coffee but my whole day. read more
