I ordered the Burrito Plate with a Chicken Burrito/beans/rice for my Nephew and ordered myself a Fish taco and Carne asada taco for myself, also, don't go without getting some of the dollar tortilla chips, well worth the price. it came out to about 14 bucks for everything, which is reasonable. the food was very good, the people are friendly. The food is great, i enjoyed the Carne asada more than the fish. the flavor is a bit mild so i put some hot sauce on it and it perked it right up. This is one of those authentic places you want to live near. It's our go to anytime we head out to the movies. They have some language barriers and have certainly messed up our orders on more than one occasion but that's also part of the charm. It's real. If you can't speak the language you have to deal with the fact that sometimes there will be barriers. All well worth it. The folks here are charming and lovely and they make a mean burrito. All the standard fixings but much less what hipsters want and much more what actual customers want. The meats are awesome and they have some veg and vegan options too. I ordered here at 10:10 PM 7/30/2021 They not only served me raw pork but also gave me the wrong burrito. This taqueria isn't a good establishment. Cheap prices, decent food, and they've scored 100 on their inspections which I always appreciate. They get 3 stars because I've been coming here for years, and the wait in the drive thru on weekends is ridiculous, and your order when you finally get through has a 50% chance of being incorrect it seems. Sour cream, guacamole, extra tortillas and things of that price are all extra on tacos, etc and often forgotten. When the orders right, the foods worth it though- the nachos, huevos rancheros, breakfast burritos and wet burritos are all delicious. The food is better and more authentic than many places around- the reviews I read that claim Muchas Gracias (though several of them spelled it wrong...) is better crack me up. Come here if you're willing to wait, and receive hit or miss service for some good food. read more

Went to the SE 82nd Avenue location of Don Pedro today to get my usual three tacos: carnitas, al pastor, carne asada. I've been going there for years, and today was definitely not up to their usual standards. The carnitas and al pastor were damp and watery, and were not browned a little on the grill as they usually are. Also, all three were a bit skimpy on the meat today. I've always noticed this location is less consistent than the location on SE 122nd which I've also been to a lot, but today was a new low. read more

Still another three-star review. We both ordered the birria plate. I'll accept responsibility for having lousy pronunciation skills en espanol. However, we ended up with birria burritos. At no point did I include a "t" in my pronunciation. We sent them back and got the plates quickly. The food is OK. Nothing special, nothing bad. Very average. If God didn't want you to eat that much pig, He wouldn't have invented three delicious ways to do it. But good luck trying to determine what, precisely, Don Pedro has on its menu. There's nothing written in list form anywhere in prominent display. If it wasn't for Andrew G's tip on the breakfast burrito, I'd still be staring slack-mouthed at the counter until closing time. It's all just pictures of ridiculous things like fish on a plate and Cocktail. However, the sprawling nature of the menu does not extend to the front of the house. Don Pedro can fling you breakfast all day, but it doesn't want to pay a person to come to the dining area and wipe down the tabletops. I wonder if it's possible to catch a cold from a Tapatio bottle. That aside, after a night of Jolly Rancher shots and serious girl-on-boob action, sometimes you just want to eat a breakfast burrito in a place with some genuine character. With my two stingy salsa cups (that's all they allow you) I load up what I can and hurry home. The beans were good, packed full of lard and other shit I don't wanna know 'bout. They were smooth n creamy and just the way I like 'em. A laxative inducing amount of cheese was mixed into my nicely steam tortilla. Food Poisoning Waiting To Happen!! I used to eat here all the time. One day I went in and ordered some take out taquitos. While I was still at the counter I saw a girl pull a large lard packed can of shredded meat from under the ledge. She opened it with a can opener, then grabbed a spatula right off the grill and scooped a large pile out and slung it on the flat top. As I watched the lard bubble away from the shredded beef I was horrified and disgusted. There is no chance that that was sanitary or healthy. The food here is simply delicious and the prices cannot be beat. From an assortment of $5 burritos that can easily make 2 meals to combination plates with your choice of fillings from meat to chicken, cheese or pork to mega breakfast plates with french toast-Don Pedro has you covered. As far as spices goes they have you covered as well with a salsa bar containing very spicy and mild salsas, as well as pico de gallo, roasted onion, pickled jalapeño escabeche and radishes. With hours that cannot be beat Don Pedro's is open very early and stays that way until very late. No wonder why the place is always busy but never crowded. You can get a late night plate of nachos before heading home to crash or the next am you get get a delicious and cheap breakfast after a hard night or partying. Simply put, at Don Pedro's there is something for everybody and prices that match. Definitely one of my faves. read more

Hard to say which is better...this place or Rigoberto's on McLoughlin Blvd. Regardless, all was amazing. Ordered a carne asada torta, which is big enough for two meals and only $5. Came with a plentiful portion of meat as well as guac and veggies. Also ordered a wet burrito for lunch the next day, which surely did not disappoint. Cheese and meat, that's what it's about for me! Friendly service and a variety of salsas to choose from. If you like hole-in-the-wall Tex Mex, this is the place! Indoors is shabby but to be expected to keep prices down. read more

Don Pedro is the kind of place where it pays to explore the menu. There are some pretty crappy selections, and some dynamite selections. I have yet to find a single item that I felt was worth 5 stars. I've been going long enough to where I know the tricks to ordering off the menu. You're going to have to figure those out on your own... The drive thru will take a moment because your stuff is being cooked as you wait. The only item I really avoid are their burritos. I don't care for them in the least. I would recommend their carinitas tacos or carnitas anything. The drive thru is also open pretty late. 11pm I think. After seeing a movie, my roommate had a hankering for a burrito. So we hopped across the street to Don Pedro's (the third). They've cleaned it up a bit since my last peek in. The restaurant section is casual and clean. The kitchen and menus are kind of chaotic and sloppy. This place is, by all standards, a vegan's nightmare. But on the upside, i can say they don't waste much of Bertha the cow. This is authentic style Mexican food, after all. Some of the items on the menu made my vegetarian inner child cringe a bit: menudo (intestinal lining soup); cabeza tacos (mmm... brains... mmm... Mexican zombies...); chorizo; and la-la-la-la-la-lingua (cow tongue)! Sounds tasty, right? The menu's pretty diverse and affordable though, with several fish, shrimp, and egg options. And there's the ever-present Mexican food restaurant hamburger and fries, for the kids. The tacos are $1.30. The breakfast meals are big and inexpensive. And they've a lot of plate combinations and entrees to choose from. Vegetarians can breathe a sigh of relief: they have chile relleno, nachos, taco salad, enchiladas, and a medley of other veggie options to keep the cow-lovers appeased. The service is quick. Quick enough to where you can dine in or take advantage of the drive-thru. And another quirky aspect of this little restaurant is that there are a couple of picnic tables on a small grass lot behind the restaurant, far enough away from 82nd Avenue to where you probably won't be bothered by the colorful streetwalkers. We had a sit-down lunch last Friday [10/8/2021] at this Don Pedro on 82d. We both got the enchilada platter. Everything on it was lukewarm! The chicken one is okay, the cheese was not up to TV dinner level, and the "ground beef" was overcooked, charred bits of beef. I was craving for the soft meat tacos, yes, we found the place where we've heard/eaten before but not this one! I wasn't sure which one to order, the cashier asked me if I want everything on it, yes, EXCEPT onions, unless they're red onions. Fair enough! I also ordered the grapefruit soda (green bottle). Hubby ordered his normal Mexican favorite, it came with hamburger tacos. The service was fast! We didn't wait but 3 minutes. But my tacos were as plain as can be with just sprinkle of chopped cilantro. I went right back & showed the cashier, "I thought I was getting EVERYTHING on it except the onions! My husband has everything on his, but where's the lettuce & tomatoes?" Then, the cashier AND the server next to her - yeah both were talking to me @ the same time, instead of the person I was talking to - don't you just hate that? How rude, right? Explained to me, "only the hamburger gets lettuce & tomatoes". So I go: "why did you asked me what I want on my tacos! You asked me, 'do you want everything?', and I said 'yes, except the onions!'" '"No problem", she asked the closest guy to put lettuce and tomatoes. He did not, instead he continued fixing what he started. That's OK I have all day, I thought. Then, she ordered again, finally, someone from all the way inside the kitchen saw me standing there, and came by to add lettuce & chopped fresh tomatoes and handed them back to me, with a smile. . . . that took care of my frustration. With a smile. I like that! I smiled back and said 'thank you!' I'm very pleased with my tacos! It was worth it! It fulfilled what I was craving for. I want to give you 5 stars so badly. You open early and provide me with delicious breakfast I don't even have to put pants on/get out of the car for. But sometimes when I come thru late at night your nachos are just really messed up. I used to work at a Mexican grill and it's frustrating to know someone dumps a pile of dirty chips on an order and still serves it.
