I feel like this place is my little secret. It's in the Twinbrook shopping center and looks non-descript, but it's my favorite place to stop in when I'm hungry and want some cheap, savory food. Don Pollo only has one main dish. It's Peruvian Chicken, and the absolute best Peruvian Chicken I've ever had, although, admittedly, I've never been to Peru. I've eaten at Pollo countless times and tried both light and dark meat - both are juicy and flavorful. Usually I get a quarter chicken, which comes with two sides. The rice and beans, plantains, and mac and cheese are my defaults. I usually think of rice and beans as unimpressive filler, but Pollo's rice and beans are flavorful, with a slight punch most other dishes of the sort lack. I have all I can do to finish, but if you're super hungry, you can probably power through the half chicken. The price is great - about $7-10 for a nice warm meal. There are cafeteria style tables and a few TVs with soccer, so you can either sit down and devour your dish, or take it to go. read more

I had never really tried Peruvian Chicken before Don Pollo and let me tell you this place is awesome. The chicken is just so tasty. Since trying Don Pollo I use this as my standard for Peruvian Chicken. I tried Super Chicken in Falls Church. And Don Pollos is so much better. Their green sauce and the other one are so good. The price is great too. A whole chicken and two sides for under $16 is great. The only draw back is I live in Virginia and they do not have a Don Pollo there. This place is the bomb read more

I came after a friend recommend it. I was not satisfied with the food maybe because I came late night right before they closed either way the sides that I got sucked Mac and cheese and rice and beans the rice was water and soggy. I was not a fan and the Mac and cheese was not good too water down. I'm still trying to find a place with good Mac and cheese. The chicken was alright but when that's standard the sides really have to be good. I'll come earlier next time and then if it's still not good never again. I accidentally posted a review meant for another business on this page. So this is my official review of Don Pollo. I love this place. It's my go to place for peruvian chicken. The chicken is good and well seasoned. There has been a few times when, I have not been completely satisfied with my order, mainly with an under seasoned chicken. However, there are far and few in between so I keep coming back because more often than not, they're really great at what they do. The only downside is the price surge. They have raised their price twice now in the past year, kind of annoying. One of the reasons I loved this place so much was because of the great food at a cheaper price. Their chicken is definitely well seasoned all the time, which makes it delicious. I always order a quarter combo every time I am around. Their veggies are quite fresh, and other choices are not so bad either. As always, you can smell the strong coal grilled chicken smoke yards away from the restaurant just like other Peruvian grill chicken restaurants, yet their grilled chicken also tastes great. This place is the best Peruvian Chicken Ive ever had, me and a couple guys from work come here at least 2-3times a week for lunch haha, the chicken is always great hot and seasoning is so good, I always get a quarter piece of white and you get 2 sides with that, Ive tried the fried yuca,fries,mac and cheese,house salad,and the fried plantain's and they have all been good there's more choices but I fear change lol. The price is pretty decent for about $8-$10 with a drink, they also offer a quarter dark and half of white or dark both with 2 sides, they have bigger options like whole chicken and big feast to order. Not a fancy place like people say just some place to eat, they have 2 TVs on each side of the store usually soccer or ESPN on and they play good music not to loud. I love this place haha. read more

Good juicy chicken and huge side dishes! The food is extremely inexpensive. My family of 4 ate for under $24 and had enough food for at least 2 more people. I lift heavy weights as a hobby, So, it requires me to eat a certain amount a food. I go to this place minimum 4 to 6 times a week. So, I'm a regular customer. Today, as usual, I made my order by phone saying "Please reserve me a 1 whole chicken dark meat, and Well Done". Again at the cashier, I repeated my order (because I noticed before even get there something is not right. I'm very familiar with their voice and tone because I go there often). I knew I was right when I looked at his face(looked guilty). Then the cashier said, "yeah yeah sure". After getting home, I opened it, and It was not what I asked for. Also, I doubted him in the second place when he charged me $12.87 instead of $13.87. Please do yourself a favour, and don't cheat to your own customers. That's not ethical. Without our support, you won't have a business, and don't forget karma is very dangerous, if you believe in it. He could have said they don't have dark meat. That could have saved me time, distance I traveled, and my loyalty to Don Pollo. I love, love, LOVE Don Pollo. Peruvian chicken is one of my favorite dishes and I think Don Pollo does it best. It's almost always crowded when I come here which I think is a good sign. I probably come here 1-2 times a month and usually get Don Pollo to celebrate any special occasions. I read some other reviews and some people found the chicken dry?? I've never had that experience- the chicken has always been moist and flavorful, even if you're like me and don't eat the skin. Also, if you're like me and love spicy food, I think they have the best green sauce.
