We order Yangzhou fried rice, smoked pork with dried tofu, stir-fried beef, chopped chill fish and dragon beard vegetables in soup. This new restaurant is extremely popular. Even though we went during off peak hours. We still had to wait for a table, which was pretty crazy. The service was friendly and attentive. The portion were big and price were read. The only this that we don't usually eat very spicy food, so some dishes were a bit too spicy for us. However, if you enjoy spicy food, you would probably really love this place. Parking was also very difficult, but overall. It was still a great dining experience.

We came here on new Year's Eve to end 2025. A crowded popular place with spicy food that my husband loved greatly It was a bustling busy vibe with lots of people from all ages, young and old, eating spicy food It's still a bit too spicy for me, but it's preference of food and taste. Food itself is pretty good. Authentic ingredients Highly recommend to try

For my 2025th review to end the 2025 year: DONG TING CHUN! Hunan food is serrrrrrrrved here. One day I wanted some spicy food, and I remember I saw this next to PopEyes (that one day they were doing 3pc tenders for $1). The food definitely left a lasting impression. This place be bussin. Food was actually spicy! The service was ok, and they were really busy even on a weeknight. They had a Yelp waitlist. You order by scanning the QR code on the table. There are pictures, so that's helpful in case the English translations sound weird. The yellow stir fry beef came out first and it was soooooo good. It was spicy and a solid authentic Hunan dish! Water boiled fish is my go-to dish at Sichuan places. The water boiled fish here is more of a soup; it wasn't thick with chili oil. There's bean sprouts under the snakehead fish filets. The third dish I tried was the stir fry tendon. The flavor was good. I took home the leftovers, and it was still amazing. I recommend getting white rice. They serve white rice in those family style buckets. This place is best visited in groups of four or less. They only have one big round table.

If you love spicy and Chinese food, THIS is definitely the place. We tried 7 dishes and they were all 10/10. It's now my favorite Chinese food spot in the area and as we all know there are many options. A MUST try!

Feels so authentic - like I transported back to Sichuan Province. Food is delicious. Properly spicy. Tasty. Large portions. Looks great too. The cauliflower dish was stunning - my favorite dish. I can just be ok with that. The duck blood was also very delicious especially after it cooled down a bit. I don't think I heard a word of English during my dinner experience - it's quite authentic!

Hunan food adventure at Dong Ting Chun in San Gabriel! - Lei Eggplant with Century Egg my favorite of the night! -Golden Broth Baby Squid & Bullfrog Pot, flavorful but a bit too spicy for me - Zhangjiajie Rice Tofu, soft and saucy, reminds me of mapo tofu Interested to be back and try other Hunan dishes.

I swear, I've heard about Dong Ting Xian so many times my ears were about to get blisters . All my Hunan friends kept telling me I had to try it -- so of course I had to see if it's really that good. And honestly? It did NOT disappoint! This place really is the gold standard for Hunan food -- every dish is packed with that fiery, bold Hunan soul. Stir-Fried Sliced Beef This is basically their signature dish. Thin, tender beef, wok-fried till it's smoky, spicy, and super flavorful. Pretty sure every single table orders this -- and for good reason. Mao's Braised Pork Belly Sweet and savory, rich but not greasy at all. The fat just melts in your mouth. Eat it with a bowl of rice and it's pure heaven. Famous Shimen Pork Intestines These are so well cleaned -- no funky smell whatsoever. Big chunky pieces, crispy outside and tender inside, soaking up all that rich sauce. So good with rice! My husband was annoyed because I kept stealing from his plate Spicy Boiled Black Fish Fillet Tender, boneless fish slices in a super fragrant, numbing spicy broth. Loaded with bean sprouts and wide noodles -- so addictive! I even packed up the leftover broth to take home. Pro tip: mix it with noodles the next day -- chef's kiss! Dong Ting Soy Sauce Fried Rice Looks basic but packed with wok hei and deep soy flavor. The kids devoured it. Winter Melon Pork Rib Soup No proper Hunan meal without soup! The winter melon is soft and flavorful, the broth is super tasty -- but the ribs themselves are pretty tough since all the goodness goes into the soup. Overall vibe: Dong Ting Xian isn't some gimmicky Insta-famous spot -- it's the real deal that wins people over with solid flavors and generous portions. Service is nice too, just expect to wait a bit when it's busy. Prices are super fair -- in Irvine you'd probably get half the amount for the same price! Totally worth the drive for a foodie like me. Pro tip: Bring your foodie crew. The more people, the more dishes you get to try -- and trust me, everything here is worth it.

Parking was lil hectic but totally worth it. Great authentic Chinese spicy food and fast service. Great for quick lunch or group dinner.

If your into spicy Hunan cuisine then this is the place to go. This place is often packed so go early or wait in line outside. Parking is always a challenge so I always go early for dinner 4:30-5. First off the food is great. Service needs work. You can hear that the kitchen is busy and there are a lot of people working there but the food comes out slowly. It was so bad that we had to cancel our last dish. If you have patience this food is worth it.

It's been a minute since my last 'traditional' Chinese food. This place at this point- Nov. 2024 is still unclaimed on yelp, the AC breaths like a cobweb of spice, grease and fast paced talking. You know it's gonna be good. I would've given them 4 stars but the moms said be generous and give 5. As a great cook and master of steam buns, my mother has a pretty honest taste bud and she loved the braised pork with chilis. There's like over 57+ menu items.. we didn't even have time to check what they have fully before there's like 7 items in the cart. Expect a wait and poor vegetarian options.

Boston Lobster is the best Chinese restaurant in the SGV! This restaurant has delicious food,…read morewonderful service, and the ambiance is good. Here are the dishes we ordered: House special lobster with noodles: 5/5 ( the star of this place) Pan fried beef noodles: 5/5 Kung pao chicken: 5/5 Tofu with brown sauce: 5/5 Chow fun noodles: 4/5 Vegetable dishes: 4/5 Fish fillet: 3/5 Pork chop spicy salt: 5/5 Mapo tofu: 4/5 Shrimp with eggs: 4/5 My favorite dish was the house lobster with noodles. It's really why I came here. There was so much meat from the lobster and the noodles were a great addition to the dish. So flavorful and delicious! If you come between 11:30-4:45pm, you can get the lunch special items. The portions were actually huge for the price you're paying. It's available 7 days a week. It's so worth it! I would definitely come back here especially for the delicious food, reasonable prices and exceptional service.

We dined here last night for the first time from a friend's recommendation. The house special crab…read moreand fried calamari were pretty yummy, but not very happy with how our food was handled... One of the dish we ordered was the house special sauce crab with market price of ~$26 per pound. We added the noodles for $10. Normal practice the server should come and advise on the size of our crab before making so we can choose how big the crab we want for our dish, because we're paying by pound for the dish anyway... but within 2 minutes of placing the order, a crab dish arrived... HA! Problem 1: The server originally tried to give the crab dish to the table next to us and the folks refused the dish... then the server turned around and placed the dish onto our table for us. CLEARLY they made a mistake and made the wrong dish for next table and decide to not waste food and gave it to us. We asked if that was really our dish and they said yes... what a lie! The kitchen took 2 mins to cook our dish? haha...dumb! Next table was there before us and their house special lobster noodles arrived 10-15 minutes later. First they made a mistake, then tried to lie to cover it up. No one is stupid here. We would have been ok if they were honest about it and ask if we would accept that dish with no complain here. Problem 2: The table next to us got their plates changed multiple times and NOT once did someone came to check on us about changing plates. Problem 3: Our bill came. They charged our crab as 2.5 pounds. What a joke! I'm a crab person. I know my crabs. That tiny crab is probably around 1.5 pounds - 2 pounds max. (Check out the picture to see the small crab shell and the tiny pieces of the crab legs and meat pieces on the edge of the plate). The $10 they charged for noodles was a huge portion, but that is not the same value as 1 pound of crab that they overcharged us for the dish. The house special crab was pretty tasty and we like the fried calamari. The veggie was decent and soup was pretty weak... our bill was $150 and I tipped $20 for the experience. Be grateful and work on improving your practice

Because the wait time was too long for that, we decided to try The Dive Oyster Bar -- and man are we sure glad we did. We got a total of five items: a bowl of clam chowder, the soft shell crab appetizer, the roasta, the traditional pan roast with the house speciality protein (with the crab on the side because of my dad's crab allergy), and the jambalaya, which for the last three we ate with medium heat. We shared everything (except for the crab appetizer because, again, crab allergy for dad) and found the food to be delicious, with each entree coming out tasting better than the last. Personally, the roasta was my favorite with the pan roast as a close second. Very flavorful dishes with medium heat being a good level for us (wasn't spicy for our Korean palates). Service was great, our server (unfortunately forgot his name) was attentive and quick with our requests, and although he forgot a side of rice, it was for the best as the food had settled in our stomachs by then and we were content with what we ordered. The restaurant itself is well maintained with ample table space and appropriate lighting, though the music from the evening DJ was a tad bit too loud to hear from across the table. Not a big mood killer for us, though mostly because the good was that good. We're not from this area, so the odds of coming here again are relatively slim -- but should the opportunity present itself, it'll be more than fate this time to take us through these doors once again.

This is what I thought about the food we got. House Seafood Soup - Simple and clean soup. Good portion, and it was soothing to eat. Lots of squid. (4/5) Clams with Spicy Sauce - Large clams with tons of meat, and the sauce was fire. Always a good choice. (5/5) Crab with Salt & Pepper - Loved the seasoning, and the flavors were solid. (4.5/5) Thai Style Beef Stew - First time trying this, and it was good. A bit different, but the meat chunks were tasty and the overall flavors were good. (4/5) Sautéed Pea Sprouts - Nicely done vegetable dish. It's simple but refreshing with good flavors. (4/5) Fried Whole Fish - This dish was gone so fast because it was delicious. Nicely fried and not overly seasoned. (5/5) Signature Lobster - I feel like you have to get this here since it's their specialty. It's pricey, but in my opinion, it's the best and freshest lobster in town. Tons of green onions, seasoned well, fresh meat, and lots of lobster roe. (5/5) Service was good, and they didn't automatically add a mandatory tip for a large party. The total came out to around $364, which is pricey, but the food was phenomenal. Parking - Valet only, but they have street parking in front. I parked on the street since there were plenty of spots on a Wednesday, but I assume it gets busy on weekends.

Of all the Vietnamese sour soups we've had, this place was the best. It is like a savory version of a lemonade, where the sourness and sweetness is extremely intense, but perfectly balanced. I've tasted all sort items from this restaurant, from quail, to frogs, to snails, to cat fish, and everything has been executed to maximize the taste of the ingredient and sauce. Fish dishes would first be soft, flakely, moist, buttery, and then after the textures, you get hit with the intensities of the sauces. In French cuisine, sauce is king, and Vietnamese food is often times a blend of native and French techniques. This place's food quality punches well beyond it's patronage. I'm frankly surprised how empty this place is, and often times, I avoid writing reviews for my FAVORITE places, because after a review from me, the place gets crazy crowded and the prices go up. Unfortunately, this review is written post mortem. I do hope that this place can re-open someday. Until then, this place has set the bar for me, for all Vietnamese restaurants going forward. Will miss this place.

We ordered the clams, baked catfish, lotus root salad and the goat tenderloin. All the food here is absolutely delicious. The baked catfish is tender, buttery and flavorful. The baked catfish came with rice paper and veggies to wrap the fish in. The clams and lotus root salad were well seasoned and tasted fresh. The goat tenderloin was super tender and flavorful. Not too gamey either. Service was excellent. Our servers were extremely attentive and always made sure we had everything we needed. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant but we made a reservation for the catfish to make sure that we had the chance to try it before they sold out. Going to miss this place!

The grilled fish is fragrant and flavorful, the skewers are perfectly seasoned, and the chicken soup is rich and delicious. A decent spot that my partner and I like whenever we're feeling some skewers vibes. I find myself to be a huge fan of their cucumber salad. Yes, even for a skewer place, they can be very delicious as a compliment to the savory skewers. It's nice to have that sweeter taste to offset the saltiness of all the other items. Interior is nice but can be quite hectic. Tons of tables that fit all sizes of groups, staff is quick but sometimes they do feel like they're understaffed. Service is not really a thing here, most like a food shop stand but interior. They clean tables, assign seating, bring you your food and that's basically it. Paying can be confusing but most of the time you can pay on your phone but it's recommended to pay where the register is, quick and easy. There's so many food options that you might find yourself scrolling for awhile. One feature I like is that their ordering system is easy. Scan a QR code and you can just order on your phone. Staff is moderately quick so that's a plus. If you're with a group, I recommend ordering on a designated phone to prevent any confusion or extra charges, etc. Skewers wise, my favorite goes to the beef, lamb, and the squid sticks. All are seasoned well but can be a bit salty. Most of the food here is spicy unless you ask for it so prepare for that. There's also a side/condiments bar that's filled with snacks that you can munch on while you're waiting for your food free of charge, however it's pretty filling. Overall, a decent spot that's great for a late night snack. Not the best but not the worse either when it comes to service. Food is great and even better for people who can handle spice well. Will definitely be back in the future.
