To share, my friends and I had the following: - Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao): These were tasty and juicy and I liked how the soup wasn't scalding. I do wish the texture of the dumpling wrapper was better though. - A5 Wagyu Beef Chinese Burger: One of my favorite dishes tonight. I loved the crispy bun and the flavorful and tender meat inside. - Flaky Beef Wrap: Another one of my favorite dishes of the night. It was flaky and full of meat which I liked. Among some of the best beef rolls I've had thus far. - Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles (Kurobuta Pork): These were creamy and good. I like how these weren't too salty. - Dry Pot Cauliflower: Surprised at how good one this was. Textures and flavors were good. Only downside was the pork belly which was kind of hard, but the cauliflower was good on its own. For what we got, the prices were pretty good and reasonable. I've been here with my friends from work to celebrate birthdays. Yesterday, I took my husband here for an early dinner for his birthday. We live about 40 minutes away. We tried to come off hours at 3:00 PM and the restaurant was still full but we luckily got seated at the only open table. The interior is modern and clean. A few key notes: * It looks like the restaurant is getting more customers now as our party waited 15+ minutes even on a regular weekday evening. * No free samples were offered during our weekday dinner visit. * Now each table has a tablet and customers can place orders directly via the tablet. Please note that the tablet only allows customers to place orders and customers will still need to flag down a staff member to request the check. * Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings (aka XLB) continue to be an S-tier item to order here. In fact I think they are some of the best XLBs I have had in Los Angeles and Orange County. Perfect dough texture and on-point flavorful broth. * For Chinese Burger, stick with the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Beef instead of the Kurobuta Pork as the beef provides a better texture & the pork tastes slightly greasy. * Stir-Fried Noodles with Angus Beef Brisket had a similar flavor profile to stir-fried chow fun but with a different type of noodle. We ordered- Cucumber with xoxo sauce: it was fresh and crisp and xo sauce was tasty with a hint of spice. Beef wrap: I personally didn't try the beef wrap but family enjoyed it. Kurobuta pork soup dumplings: the dumplings were just ok for me. Pork was tender but I felt it wasn't as juicy as others that I've tried (it may be better to eat right away) Scallops with lemon dressing: this dish was interesting wasn't a huge fan of the type of spice that was put in the sauce. Green beans with xoxo sauce: can't go wrong with the green beans. I came across a video that labeled this place as a Din Tai Fung dupe. In complete honesty, it doesn't compare to Din Tai Fung because they taste different. The XLBs are each good in their own ways. One thing I would like to note is that the Grilled Angus Beef is not worth it. I was expecting something amazing for it to be priced at almost $60, but it was just difficult to chew. The standout dish was definitely their Sweet Pumpkin Dessert XLB. It comes with sweet cream cheese foam for FREE, which was nice. People were parking all over the place and putting up their hazard lights in the middle of the lanes. Service: I ordered takeout online and went to pick up the food. The food was ready by the time I arrived. There was an insanely long line waiting for dine-in and I think I heard that the wait time was supposed to be 45+ minutes. A Hidden Gem on Valley Blvd That Earns Every Star! Good Alley in Rosemead has quickly become one of my go-to spots in the San Gabriel Valley. Good Alley does the Kaifeng-style guantang bao (soup dumpling) with a thicker wrapper that somehow holds an almost obscene amount of rich, collagen-packed broth inside. One bite and the broth just floods your mouth. Get these first, get them hot, and don't share. The Chinese cumin lamb burger (roujiamo) is another must. The bread is a flaky, thousand-layer pancake -- so much better than the typical baked bun -- and the beef filling is well-seasoned and satisfying. It's the kind of dish that sounds simple until you actually eat it and realize how much craft goes into it. Dry-pot cauliflower, scallion oil dry noodle , and korubuta pork & shrimp wontons are also delicious. The berry sticky mochi drink was so refreshing! Service is friendly, the space is clean and modern, and the iPad ordering system actually works smoothly. Fair warning: expect a wait on weekends -- word is getting out. There was a short 15-minute wait when we arrived, but the waitlist process went smoothly. We just walked around the plazas next door once and then got a text that our table was ready. It took us a minute to find the veggies on the menu, but we eventually found them after a few flips through the entire menu lol. It is located inside a very popular plaza with many other popular Chinese establishments. The second time I came is around 11AM on a weekday so I didn't have to wait. The menu here are all digital so you order by clicking screens. All the food items have pictures so you'll know exactly what you'll get. They also have a very good Boba menu too and their Boba are actually very very good. The staffs are very nice and helpful. They are not like the usual traditional Chinese restaurant that doesn't have customer service. You'll be treated well here. The food came out pretty quickly and they are amazing. You can tell they spend a lot of time cooking the beef because it was very tender. The beef is most likely slow cooked for a long time, then slice to prepare for the dishes. The beef in the flaky beef wrap was very generous. It felt like a huge burrito without other fillings. The Braised Noodle Soup has huge chunks of yummy beef in it. The soup is very flavorful and thick. I will try the clear broth version next time. I like drinking the broth but the dark broth is just too much flavor for me to consume. They have a very nice interior design and not that many tables inside, but they do a good job of serving food fast so the wait times aren't bad despite the small space. There is a ipad at your table once seated so you can directly send your order to the kitchen instead waiting for the waiter. Some of their most popular items include the following: -The Guan Tang Bao, which is like the larger, heartier versions of a Xiao Long Bao. -A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Burger, this was so good with premium wagyu. -Sichuan Dan Dan Mein, which is so good and nutty, just the way I like lolol. It's from the same team as Ji Rong Peking Duck, literally right next door. Also, they have boba and other good drinks that you can order at the front. The taste profile outside of their signature dishes is basic and their prices for common ordered items are quite high. For example the $12 pork burger, which is insane for what it is worth. Food Pork XLB - the XLB was pretty good overall, pork soup had good flavor, but the top pinch of the soup dumpling was too thick . Hot & Sour Soup - on the light side, wasn't hot (pepper) or that sour. Beef Noodle in Clear Soup - the soup was the star, clean and beefy. Beef was tender and had good portion size. Noodles well overcooked and lost its bounce. Angus Beef Stir Fry Noodles - overall flavor profile is good, noodles doneness cooked perfectly. Pork Burger - crispy Muo bread, good amount of pork stuffing with some crunchiness from the peppers. Beef Rib - this was the dish that brought it up to 4 stars. Everyone I've talked to has recommended that I come and try Good Alley, so I came here two days in a row. Here's a tip: come around 3-4pm and there isn't a wait, otherwise there is a long line. Good Alley has been in my food rotation recently (: There's so much to love about this place. The staff is always friendly and attentive. You hardly have to fight for their attention because the workers are always walking around making sure everyone has enough water and napkins which I appreciate so much. You order on a IPad which has really nice pictures of the items they offer. Today while waiting in line one of the staff came out and offered a sample of one of their drinks. I thought that was a nice touch since there was quite a lot of people waiting outside and i wanted to try that specific drink before. It was their golden choco sticky rice mochi slushi. It was interesting and delicious. A little sweet treat (: The items we keep coming back for are ~ 1. Xi'an cold noodles 2. Kurobata pork, shrimp, and cucumber dumplings (soup filled dumplings) - pretty interesting + refreshing with cucumbers but it works well! 3. Flaky beef wrap - lots of beef in the beef roll - Wrap is not too thin, not too thick 4. Spicy wontons - right amount of citrusy flavor 5. Sliced beef and ox tongue in chili sauce AND our most FAVORITE is !! Cauliflower and pork belly drypot - lots of cauliflower and the pork belly has a barbecue burnt taste in a good way This is a great place to come with a group, order a bunch of things and eat until your hearts content. I feel like the food is similar to other dumpling places that have the same dishes. So nothing amazingly different. But I definitely appreciate the quality ingredients and everything tasted fresh! The Wagyu beef soup dumplings were a wonderful change from the typical pork ones. The mochi rice drinks were also really good! Service - they're all so incredibly nice! Everyone was super helpful. Food came out fast. Loved that they readily provided napkins. Parking - very busy free parking lot. It gets packed because ppl are there for other restaurants too especially the duck place. I've heard good things about this Chinese cafe for a while now and specifically their wagyu beef rou jia mo or 'Chinese Burger', which I really been wanting to try. When I saw it was on their menu as part Dine LA week in early 2026, I felt like it was a no-brainer visit for me personally. So I don't sound reductive, I want to point out that this restaurant has a pretty good menu of other classics along with dumplings and noodles as well as family style dishes. When dining there, I noticed there were some groups and families enjoying and sharing said dishes. For the early 2026 Dine LA menu, I chose the: - Black truffle kale with sautéed mushroom - Xi'an cold noodles - A5 Miyazaki Wagyu beef Chinese burger - And a hand muddled lemon tea to wash it all down I really enjoyed how the menu was constructed and it gave me a taste of a lot of different things from the restaurant. Especially since I really wanted to try that burger. All the food was delicious with great flavors and textures. Everything lived up to what I was hoping for. Such a wonderful meal. It's hard to stand out as a Chinese restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley when you're surrounded by so many incredible options, but Good Alley definitely has a few things working in its favor. We visited during the dinner rush, so the wait was longer than expected. Fortunately, they have a digital waitlist system that made it easy to track our place in line, and we didn't mind the wait too much. Once seated, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised to get a spacious corner booth despite being a party of two. It was comfortable, gave us plenty of room to enjoy our meal, and, of course, allowed me to take all the food photos I wanted without feeling rushed. We ordered the beef rolls, Wagyu beef Chinese burger, Kurobuta pork and crab soup dumplings, braised beef noodle soup, and Japanese scallops. As a huge scallop fan, I expected the scallops to be my favorite dish of the night, but they ended up being a little too salty for my taste. Everything else was solid. The standout dish for me was the braised beef noodle soup. While I've had stronger versions elsewhere in the SGV, this one was still flavorful, comforting, and the dish I found myself going back to the most throughout the meal. What truly surprised me were the drinks. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos, but they ended up being one of the highlights of the evening. The menu is extensive, and I could easily see myself returning just to explore more of their drink offerings and try additional dishes. What really elevated Good Alley, for me though, is the service. Despite how busy the restaurant was, the staff remained attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our food arrived surprisingly quickly, and we never felt overlooked. Great customer service can make a good meal even better, and that's what stood out to me most about this experience. Overall, Good Alley offers a comfortable dining experience, a large menu with plenty to explore, and service that goes above and beyond. Trying the new hype. People said this is a DTF dupe. So of course we need to order the xlb. I really love their xlb. It's full of flavor and has more soup inside the dumpling. Fried rice was ok nothing special about it. Big portion though. The noodle soup was surprisingly flavorful despite being plain looking. The grilled angus beef with lime was ok. I don't really like the spices rub but maybe it's just me. Overall we like the food but xlb is the star here. We also ordered the truffle xlb ... so yumyyy !! Service is great. Parking is easy. Expect a long line during lunch and dinner hours. read more

01/30/26 Friday Came around 6:45 PM and we were able to be seated with a party of 8. Every other table was filled so it was quite busy but no line, luckily. My partner and I l ordered the DineLA menu + 2 additional dishes. It was a lot for the two of us. We brought a lot of leftovers home. 9/10 Chinese Beef Burger - crispy and delicious beef but kind of small portion. 6/10 Beef slice + Ox tongue: spicy mala. Didn't realize it was a cold dish. Beef slices were tender but a bit dry. Tongue was kind of tough. Pretty decent portion size, especially for a meat dish. 7/10 Beef Roll: kind of sweet, not crunchy, tender meat. 7/10 Xi A Noodles: It is basically PB Sesame with chili oil sauce over wide rice or starch noodles . Very spicy though. It kind of overpowers the dish. I like how the noodles were very refreshing and springy. The cucumbers and beansprouts were refreshing too. Tofu bits were a good addition as well. 6/10 Scallion noodles - sauce too sweet but beef good. Too saucy so it was overwhelming. Noodles bouncy. Confusing because it fell under the "Soup and Cold Noodles" category so we assumed it was soup. We should've asked. Beef bits were the same ones as the ones in the burger so it was delicious. But again, the sauce really wasn't for us. 10/10 Silly tea is milk tea. We got golden oolong less sweet. Tasty. Wish we got hot but I forgot to inform the server. 10/10 Service - Helpful and prompt servers. Modern ambiance. Overall, the dishes we ordered just weren't our cup of tea.
