Food was surprisingly good and I just found out that they're on Michelin guide. We ordered pork soup dumplings (it was so delicious and juicy, but only 6pcs), Dan Dan noodle (the flavor isn't the usual Dan Dan noodle that I've tried. Ambience, service and food were great but prices are steep. Highly recommend the Hand-Cut A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Beef Chinese Burger (at $16.98) every bite was bursting with flavor. The actual "buns" were flaky layered wasps like an onion pancake. I liked this better than the Cumin Lamb Chinese burger (at $12.98). The other hit was the Dry Pot Cauliflowers (at $19.58) that is served in a claypot. Note: Rice is not included but they give a generous portion. My friend and I came here for the first time. We arrived few minutes after they open for the day and half of the restaurant was already full. By the time we finished eating, there was a long line waiting for tables. We ordered the following items: (1) Miyazaki Wagyu beef Chinese burger : (4/5 stars). The beef filling was delicious. It was tender and well seasoned. However I did not cared for the bun. It had flaky but kind of hard texture. It wasn't bad at all but I did not cared for it. I don't know what the bun is supposed to be like. I would have prefer the bun to be softer. (2) Kurobuta pork, shrimp, egg and chive dumplings (boiled dumplings): (5/5 stars) These were delicious. The wrapper (skin) was just right (not too thick). (3) Kurobuta pork soup dumplings (aka Xiao Long Bao): (5/5 stars). Another delicious dumpling. (4) Sichuan Dan Dan noodles with meat sauce on the side. (5/5 stars). I asked for the sauce on the side in case it is too spicy for me. But it turned out it was not too spicy. It was delicious. XLB: one order only has 6 dumplings and it's tiny compared to other XLB places. The dumpling skin was taut & filling was juicy. Scallion oil noodle: sauce was savory with a hint of sweet. The noodles texture was so good! Reminded me of ramen noodles. Paired it with their chili oil on the side but wasn't a fan. It tasted like old oil and no spice. Beef roll: Crispy skin packed with a lot of beef! The beef filling is a little shredded and fluffy compared to other places where it's a piece of beef inside. It takes longer to prep compared to other dishes. we finished our XLB & noodles and waited another 5-10 minutes for the beef roll. Be prepared for a long wait during the holiday weekend. Hands down one of the best Chinese Restaurants I've tried. Service was good, they give you an iPad to place your order. Ambiance wise the place is pretty modern and clean. As for the food let's get into it: - Handmade Dumplings (8/10) Great start to the meal, had the perfect amount of spice/flavor. - Beef Roll (10/10) I've had good beef rolls before, but this was amazing. The beef was juicy, and the wrap they used held everything together very well. My favorite dish of the meal. - Beef Braised Noodle Soup (9/10) It was 90 degrees outside, and yet I would order this again. This is comfort food at its best, and the noodles had the perfect texture. Absolutely impeccable and delectably delightful! As an Asian person who has eaten many, many beef rolls, I can confidently say the beef roll at Good Alley was the best I've ever had. The meat was incredibly juicy and tender, and they were so generous with the filling, these rolls were seriously STUFFED. Every bite was perfection. We also ordered the xiao long bao, one chicken and one pork with chicken and leek, and both were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The flavors were so delicate yet incredibly satisfying. We also tried the beef noodles, and the noodles were wonderfully soft, chewy, and had the perfect texture. Honestly, everything we ordered was packed with flavor and executed beautifully. It's easy to see why Good Alley made the Michelin Guide list. The food was exceptional from start to finish, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. Came here with my friend after our Lagree class around 11:00 AM, and luckily there was no wait! We were seated right away and were excited to enjoy a nice meal while catching up. All our food came out by 11:13 AM. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed everything we tried! The crab xiao long bao was my group's favorite dish, comparable or even better than that of Din Tai Fung's. You can't go wrong with any of their other dumpling dishes either though. There's a wide variety of noodle dishes - our favorite was the Sichuan-style Zhajiang noodles. Great if you want something spicy but flavorful. The food here is terrific. The beef roll is one if not the best one in the SGV, filled with tender beef and the wrap is crispy. The pork hamburger bun is good, the cumin spicy gives it good flavor. Apparently Good Alley was recently added to the California Michelin Guide in 2026 (no Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient but just listed in the guide & now the restaurant appears when you search for it in the Michelin app). It is interesting that the sister restaurant, Jirong Roast Duck Restaurant, is not listed in the Michelin Guide. A few key notes: * It looks like the restaurant is getting more customers now as our party waited 15+ minutes even on a regular weekday evening. * No free samples were offered during our weekday dinner visit. * Now each table has a tablet and customers can place orders directly via the tablet. Please note that the tablet only allows customers to place orders and customers will still need to flag down a staff member to request the check. * Kurobuta Pork Soup Dumplings (aka XLB) continue to be an S-tier item to order here. In fact I think they are some of the best XLBs I have had in Los Angeles and Orange County. Perfect dough texture and on-point flavorful broth. * For Chinese Burger, stick with the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Beef instead of the Kurobuta Pork as the beef provides a better texture & the pork tastes slightly greasy. * Stir-Fried Noodles with Angus Beef Brisket had a similar flavor profile to stir-fried chow fun but with a different type of noodle. Beef Wrap: The wrap itself was too soft and kind of floury. It also didn't have any cucumbers, which I'm used to. 4. Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles: A little bland compared with others I've had. I came across a video that labeled this place as a Din Tai Fung dupe. In complete honesty, it doesn't compare to Din Tai Fung because they taste different. The XLBs are each good in their own ways. One thing I would like to note is that the Grilled Angus Beef is not worth it. I was expecting something amazing for it to be priced at almost $60, but it was just difficult to chew. The standout dish was definitely their Sweet Pumpkin Dessert XLB. It comes with sweet cream cheese foam for FREE, which was nice. People were parking all over the place and putting up their hazard lights in the middle of the lanes. Service: I ordered takeout online and went to pick up the food. The food was ready by the time I arrived. There was an insanely long line waiting for dine-in and I think I heard that the wait time was supposed to be 45+ minutes. Food: I got the Cumin Lamb Chinese Burger. The bun was light and flaky. They cumin lamb was very lightly season so it was not spicy at all. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and cooked perfectly. The service was impeccable from start to finish. The staff was kind, courteous, and attentive without being intrusive. They kept a close eye on our table, making sure drinks were always refilled and that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. A heads-up for first-time visitors: you may have to wait in line, as the restaurant is on the smaller side and can get quite busy. However, the wait is well worth it. The restaurant is very clean, tidy, and well maintained, which adds to the overall dining experience. We will definitely be coming back for more. A Hidden Gem on Valley Blvd That Earns Every Star! Good Alley in Rosemead has quickly become one of my go-to spots in the San Gabriel Valley. Good Alley does the Kaifeng-style guantang bao (soup dumpling) with a thicker wrapper that somehow holds an almost obscene amount of rich, collagen-packed broth inside. One bite and the broth just floods your mouth. Get these first, get them hot, and don't share. The Chinese cumin lamb burger (roujiamo) is another must. The bread is a flaky, thousand-layer pancake -- so much better than the typical baked bun -- and the beef filling is well-seasoned and satisfying. It's the kind of dish that sounds simple until you actually eat it and realize how much craft goes into it. Dry-pot cauliflower, scallion oil dry noodle , and korubuta pork & shrimp wontons are also delicious. The berry sticky mochi drink was so refreshing! Service is friendly, the space is clean and modern, and the iPad ordering system actually works smoothly. Fair warning: expect a wait on weekends -- word is getting out. I was craving beef noodle soup and with my usual spot being a bit further out from me, I decided to give Good Alley a try since it was closer. I did pickup and the experience was quick and smooth. I ordered the beef noodle soup along with an order of the beef rolls. The portions can be deceiving at first. I started off with half of the beef noodle soup, which ended up being the perfect amount for one serving. The noodles were nice and chewy, and the soup is very rich. The beef is also quite generous with a good amount of thick slices, and they were tender. Again, it can look small at first but it surprisingly ended up being a good amount for you to enjoy the noodles, soup and beef without feeling bloated at the end. The beef rolls were also delicious. I like that the pieces were very small and shredded, which was the perfect consistency for a roll since you're biting through it and there isn't huge chunks you're pulling out. It had the right amount of flavor, and the pancake wrap was perfectly flaky and thick. My only issue though is that it can be a bit scary exiting the parking lot as it can be hard to see oncoming traffic. I do like that the lot has a lot of spaces though. Came for lunch with my family, and it definitely lived up to the hype. It gets very busy, so plan on arriving early or be prepared to wait for a table. The KUROBUTA PORK SOUP DUMPLINGS were excellent, and the A5 MIYAZAKI WAGYU CHINESE BURGER is worth trying at least once. The STIR-FRIED GREEN BEANS with XO sauce are a must-order, and the SICHUAN DAN DAN NOODLES were another standout. Went here for dinner tonight and it was great! Like many of the restaurants around here, we love that there was a parking lot for easy parking. There was a short 15-minute wait when we arrived, but the waitlist process went smoothly. We just walked around the plazas next door once and then got a text that our table was ready. The servers were attentive, seats were comfy, and the restaurant itself was nice. When you sit down, they give you a tablet to order your food. It took us a minute to find the veggies on the menu, but we eventually found them after a few flips through the entire menu lol. I like that there are pictures on the tablet with what the dishes look like. My husband and I ordered: the braised beef noodle soup, the pork xiao long bao, pea pod stems, cauliflower, and the wagyu burger wrap thing. I also ordered a jasmine ice tea with sea salt, which was also tasty. The meal was tasty! And our dishes came out FAST. Our favorite was the braised beef noodle soup...it was so flavorful, the meat was generous and tender, and the noodles were nicely cooked as well. The xiao long bao met our expectations (we usually go to Din Tai Fung on the westside so we're used to that), and they were really generous with the pea pod stems and cauliflower portions. The wagyu burger was cool, but I think next time we'll do the beef wrap dish instead. Our order was perfect for two hungry people. I did notice that the prices were slightly higher, but we didn't mind, given that the flavors, service, and overall vibe of the restaurant were nice and clean. read more

Despite its popular Shanghai soup dumplings, the menu is Northern Chinese, not Shanghainese, nor is it a Din Tai Fung clone (that would be "Prince Dumpling" across the street.) Their soup dumpling are deserving 5 stars -- soupy, piping hot, thin wrapper, quality ingredients, and they don't skimp on shredded ginger like DTF. Xi'an Cold Noodle is very light, refreshing and not too spicy. Spareribs are fall-off-bone tender, not too sweet or salty. Beef 'burger' - wrapper too thin and breaks easily, hard to eat when the meat keeps falling out. Go to "Beijing Pie House" in Monterey Park for the best version of this Northern Chinese classic. Tbh I would come back only for their XLB and nothing else. read more

My real rating is 4.5 stars, but I am feeling generous since I really do like Good Alley in Rosemead, CA. It's located in a strip mall right between Chatramue and Golden Delight, so there's plenty of free parking. They are known for Northern Chinese cuisine, specifically the Kaifeng-style food. Some of their most popular items include the following: -The Guan Tang Bao, which is like the larger, heartier versions of a Xiao Long Bao. -A5 Miyazaki Wagyu Burger, this was so good with premium wagyu. -Sichuan Dan Dan Mein, which is so good and nutty, just the way I like lolol. It's from the same team as Ji Rong Peking Duck, literally right next door. Also, they have boba and other good drinks that you can order at the front. So overall, I definitely recommend this place if you're in the SGV. Plus, it's also aesthetic and clean, which always helps. read more
