Wrapping it up in the Chinese tortilla, while adding the cucumbers and hoisin sauce, bomb in your mouth! The noodles, braised tofu, mayonnaise shrimp, and the veggies were good, but the star is the duck. Make sure to order the duck ahead to ensure they'll have it ready for you when you arrive. The Peking duck was excellent. The skin was thin and crispy, the meat was juicy, and I loved that they deboned the duck. The pancakes were thin and perfectly chewy. The sweet and sour pork was unfortunately a disaster. The pork was sliced paper-thin--so thin that it felt like I was mostly eating batter with barely any meat. I was also disappointed they took the sweet and sour fish off the menu because that dish was amazing a few months ago. The five-color noodles were light, clean, and refreshing. The pork elbow was delicious with a fun, tender texture. The fish maw soup was very good and comforting, though it could have used a little more seasoning. Other than that, it was delicious. The steamed sea bass with soy sauce was incredibly soft and fragrant--a definite must-order. The scallops with vermicelli noodles were another hit: fresh, clean flavors and perfectly cooked scallops. My only suggestion would be to cut the noodles, as they came in one big clump and were difficult to serve. We ordered the beef fried rice but were given lamb instead. Came here for the Peking duck and left very satisfied with everything else we ordered too. Definitely call ahead about an hour before if you want to reserve your duck. The Peking duck lived up to the hype. I liked that they use pancakes instead of the buns, and building each bite with hoisin, green onion, cucumber, duck meat, and crispy skin gave a great mix of textures and flavors. The other dishes were solid too. The pea sprouts were fresh and loaded with garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The only thing good here is the duck. The portion is a lot smaller than the last time we went. The service was weird. We were the first ones in but no one came to check on us. The place was packed when it opened at 5pm on a Saturday. The mapo tofu, which they forgot until we asked was so salty. It needed rice. We got this last and had already finished the fried rice we ordered. The shrimp fried rice was average. We also got the shrimp with garlic and butter. It had way too much garlic and the dish came with vermicelli noodles, but there were barely any. It's really loud. The service is ok. SO HAPPY I finally got to try this spot and peking duck! You have to call to place a reservation with one order of peking duck in it. I feel like they have a lot of seating so you can easily call last minute as well (which is what I did). The staff were very classy and attentive. It was just such a lovely experience! I had a fantastic dining experience here. The signature Roasted Peking Duck was quite satisfying. The included condiments were of a noticeably more generous portion than what I have seen to be typically provided at other establishments serving this dish. The Stir-Fried Hot and Spicy Cabbage proved to a solid vegetable option - despite its name, it was not spicy (though it was oily and vinegary, which I enjoyed). If you're not craving duck, I can highly recommend the Angus Beef with Fresh Chili. The sauce of this dish struck me as a slightly spicy and somewhat less salty soy sauce. The dish does also have serving of peppercorns in it, which will be good if you're craving that "mala" sensation. Interestingly, the milk teas offered on the menu (based on the cup's labelling) appear to be from the Good Alley restaurant which is located at the same strip mall that Ji Rong is located at. In case you're wondering, there is indeed (expectedly) a markup relative to what they would appear to cost if purchased directly at Good Alley, but it was not significant from a nominal perspective (approximately $2/drink). The service was first rate - extra napkins were brought without us needing to ask for them. We were offered clean replacement plates twice during our visit. The check was not brought before I asked. I would suggest coming early if possible (as close to 5PM for dinner) - parking was still available on a Saturday at approximately 520PM, but the lot seemed alarmingly full by the time we left the restaurant. Additionally, our party of 2 was seated in a semi-enclosed area at a large 8-person table (complete with a lazy Susan) shared with 2 other parties of 2 (we were given this option in lieu of apparently waiting longer for an unshared table). Parking was so difficult, the plaza has both east and west parking lots connected in the back and many cars are parked in areas that can make it a tight drive! I finally found street parking and walked my way to the restaurant. Our family had to book the 7:45 pm slot as it was a busy Sunday night and it was crowded. The place was small and spacious enough that you can see the amount of tables and move but still crowded. We got the table in a semi private section and had a server wait us most of the night which we appreciate. My family ordered two ducks and unfortunately, they did not allow us to take home the duck bones as they use it to cook another dish for sale. We are used to duck houses giving us the carcasses. We had lots of food, it came in waves and we had to make room each time a dish came. They also had a menu from Alley tea and we ordered a few drinks since the soda they offer are Coke or Sprite and not any diet soda. The most memorable dishes were the garlic shrimp, cold platter, beef short rib, and duck with fixings and pancake. We asked for extra cucumbers but it costs $6 extra so we just made sure we ate what we had. Overall, I thought it was good, the duck was nice but it was very pricey. Came here to celebrate a friends graduation with a party of 7 of us. My first time here but I've had this place on my bucket list for a while as they are known for their Peking Duck. We got two orders of it and didn't know they came with the soup. We also ordered a couple of other dishes. The other dishes we ordered were Mapo tofu, crispy Walnut shrimp, Chengdu style spicy grilled fish, Stir fry pea sprouts, Salted egg yolk pumpkin, Braised pork belly, and French beef cubes. While the other items were delicious, they weren't life-changing or anything extraordinary. For the price paid, I would have gotten those dishes elsewhere that's way cheaper and better quality. The star of the restaurant is definitely the Peking Duck. The skin was crisp and the duck melted in my mouth. The wrapper that came with the duck was soft and not hard/very thin. I've been wanting to try this place and I finally got to. I was skeptical since I know it's recently been hyped up by influencers but I think it's really worth the preorder and the price tag. Yes the duck is 100 dollars but it is so worth it since there aren't many places that serve Peking duck. The skin is crispy and well prepared and all the duck meat is cutout for you to enjoy. This is by far the best pe king duck rivaling to some I had in China! It's amazing well prepared Chinese food. We came here to celebrate a relative's birthday. We got a large round table in a semi-private area of the restaurant. The service was pretty good and all of the food came out at lightning speed. While the duck was certainly good, I thoroughly enjoyed the supporting cast dishes that we ordered. The shrimp fried rice was excellent; not too greasy. We got a couple of orders of the Kung Pao chicken which was solid and the honey walnut shrimp was also super fresh and tasty. I can't remember which one but we also had a delicious beef dish. The surprise star of the show for me, however, was this sticky rice mochi icy drink that I tried. It was the cucumber flavor and I asked the waiter to significantly reduce the sweetness level. I thought it was absolutely delightful; almost like drinking rice pudding but more sort of a refreshing ice pudding. Couple of quick tips. 1. If you are coming here for its famous peking duck, you need to order at least 75 minutes in advance (according to its website) but I recommend at least a day in advance. It's not something you can just show up and order. Reservation is highly recommended given how popular it is. 2. Entrance faces Valley Blvd. Was confused when I first got here because there's another building called Ji Rong Kitchen located by the parking lot on east side, which appears to be just a storage place for this restaurant. 3. If you reserve one of the private rooms (more than six people in a party), there's a minimum order amount of $400. 4. It's extremely noisy. I haven't had this type of cuisine in years but came for a family gathering twice within a week. I never cared for any duck dishes because I find them way too fatty and oily, but the one here wasn't too bad, although it's still not something I would order on a regular basis. There's only one size for its peking duck, which comes with sauce, scallions, sliced cucumbers, and pancakes (more like tortillas to wrap the duck in). The duck here is leaner than other places I tried, and the skin was perfectly crispy without being too oily. Between my two visits, tried a number of different items, but following are the ones that stood out for me. Crispy Walnut Shrimp. One of the most popular items here. I thought it was good without being too sweet, but like most reviewers mentioned, they are skimpy with walnut. You get 12 pieces of shrimp but only get 6 pieces of walnut. House Special Pancake. Not to be confused with what this place calls "pancake" that comes with the duck. This is a completely different dish that needs to be ordered separately. It's a crispy, stringy pancake that's spiraled into a circular shape. It doesn't have any particular flavor but I liked it for its crispy and slightly chewy texture. Angus Beef Mabo Tofu. Flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness, my wife and I both liked this one a lot. However, it is somewhat on the salty side so you will need to order some rice to go with it. I think this place is stingy for not providing free rice like most places. Marinated Scallop in Sauce. Not sure what type of sauce it is, but it was flavorful and refreshing. You can also get the duck soup at an extra charge. There are many restaurants in SGV for Peking Duck, and this is on the top 3 of my personal favorites. I have been meaning to come here.. it was good but I do think it may be overhyped and especially the Peking Duck. The skin of the duck was deliciously fried however the meat was a little dry.. I'm used to my duck being fairly fatty. Everything else we got was good, tasted very clean and not oily or heavy. Prices were decent and able to get a reservation for 9 on a Saturday.
