    Ji Rong Kurobuta Pork Stir-Fry

If you are looking for authentic, high quality flavors, this spot delivers exactly what you want. This is a Michelin-recommended restaurant. The Ji Rong Kurobuta Pork Stir-Fry features premium, melt-in-your-mouth pork that is expertly seasoned and stir-fried to perfection. Eating it over a hot bowl of fluffy white rice is pure comfort food. The absolute perfect contrast to the savory pork was the Five-Color Mung Bean Noodle Salad--served cold, beautifully presented, and bursting with a refreshing, tangy crunch. An exceptional dining experience from start to finish! I hear their Peking Duck is delicious, and I can't wait to try it the next time I come here! The service is great, and the staff are so polite!

Was craving Peking duck, so decided to check out Ji Rong since it was highly recommended for their Peking ducks. I made a reservation in advance and reserved a duck since they require advanced notice. They serve the duck with the skin already sliced, instead of carving in table side like some other restaurants. They also serve the drumstick separately for you to enjoy. They do a pretty good job with the carving so the skin is not too oily, and the meat is nice and tender. It's not the best Peking duck I've had, but it definitely did the job in satisfying my craving. We also got the stir fried beef cubes, the braised pork belly with preserved vegetable and stir fried pea shoots. All were super tasty and delicious. Service is decent for a Chinese restaurant and the restaurant does get pretty busy during dinner. Interior ambiance feels somewhere between a casual vs upscale eatery.

Staff is really nice. Environment is clean and doesn't have old carpet smell like NBC. The door divider between 2 private rooms can be open. Downside is you have to choose 5 PM or 730 PM. It feels very rushed when they bring all the items at once. Another negative is free wine bottle with set menu - we don't drink alcohol. If they can sub with one of their drinks it'll be better. Another negative is they ask "do you want Jasmine or chamomile tea" and it is NOT part of the set!!!!!!! Tricky Food is pretty decent but not wow. See pictures

Came here for the Peking duck and left very satisfied with everything else we ordered too. Definitely call ahead about an hour before if you want to reserve your duck. The Peking duck lived up to the hype. I liked that they use pancakes instead of the buns, and building each bite with hoisin, green onion, cucumber, duck meat, and crispy skin gave a great mix of textures and flavors. The other dishes were solid too. The pea sprouts were fresh and loaded with garlicky flavor without being overpowering. The shrimp fried rice was probably one of the best value dishes we ordered at around $13 -- lots of shrimp mixed throughout and a great filler for the table. The honey walnut shrimp was unique because it came with melon, which added a refreshing touch. The shrimp itself was super crispy and I appreciated that it wasn't drowning in sauce or overly sweet. The French style beef was another standout -- packed with fresh peppers and the meat was incredibly tender. Overall, you really can't go wrong ordering here. Great spot if you're craving Peking duck and Chinese family-style dishes.

I have not tried the Peking duck here, but would love to someday - their other dishes, like the pork belly and crispy walnut shrimp are also excellent (coming from someone who usually doesn't like shrimp). The interior is nicely decorated, a nice spot if you are looking for more of a fine-dining Chinese food experience.

We ordered: Peking Duck / Angus Beef Mapo Tofu / Steamed Butterflied Shrimp w garlic, vermicelli / Steamed Sea Bass / Signature Sweet & Sour Pork / Sauteed Pea Shoots w garlic, etc. Very solid quality overall. Nothing was over nor undercooked. Veggies weren't bitter. I was particularly impressed with the flavor in the Mapo Tofu and dry pot mushrooms. You come for the peking duck and the tender meat and crispy skin were perfect. We also ordered milk and fruit tea drinks and those were surprisingly good for a not-boba store. Service was very good and the ambience was clean and traditional.

北京烤鴨冇得輸 仲要$138 有四人套餐 勁正 Ji Rong is definitely one of the most popular Peking duck spots in LA Their famous Peking duck has crispy skin and soft, juicy meat and it even comes with duck legs too! Next on the lunch special set: the can't-go-wrong veggie: garlic pea shoots Up next -- fish fillet with scallion oil It's hard to find fresh steamed fish here, but this one was a WIN Pork soup dumplings are included in the set too -- perfect for sharing! We also ordered some of their new signature dishes: I love the garlic shredded eel -- super unique check out their high-value lunch special set which is just $135 good for 4 people!!! Peking Duck. Need to order this in advance.

The only thing good here is the duck. The portion is a lot smaller than the last time we went. The service was weird. We were the first ones in but no one came to check on us. The place was packed when it opened at 5pm on a Saturday. The mapo tofu, which they forgot until we asked was so salty. It needed rice. We got this last and had already finished the fried rice we ordered. The shrimp fried rice was average. We also got the shrimp with garlic and butter. It had way too much garlic and the dish came with vermicelli noodles, but there were barely any. It's really loud. The service is ok. They are great at refilling your water, but they are otherwise not very trained.

Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time so they can guarantee a duck. I've come here a couple of times for dinner. There are lunch specials that look interesting. They have added more variety to their menu and prices have risen. The duck is really crispy and good. I think we've ordered 2 ducks before for a group of 10. This time around we ordered 1 for 5 people eating (7 people total) and there were plenty left. We ordered more wraps ($7 per order fyi). We got: - Braised tofu strips and ham in broth - some enjoyed this. We got this half off because of the Mother's Day deal - six fortune platter - huge variety of meat, but I feel like I rather have a smaller platter. The jellyfish was good - sweet and sour crispy pork - ordered for my dongbei sister in law, it was nice, thin, and sweet - walnut shrimp- it's good, I remember it used to be presented differently and nicely. Now it's served with honeydew?? Probably as a space filler. So random and I wasn't informed... I'm allergic... - the French-style beef was tough, textured with seasoning, and not pleasant at all to eat - beef fried rice was flavorless - pea sprouts was also tough and on the flavorless side - in the past, we had their mung bean noodles. We didn't this time around but I remember that being a hit. Overall the star is the duck and the entrees are a hit or miss, with nothing really standing out.

Parking lots available at the next plaza. Or street parking Come early or make a reservation cause this place can get busy with waits! We made a reservation for a large party of 13 and the staff were amazing! We had lots of kids at the table and there was also a time limit but they were really nice to not rush us and accommodate us! Food was great! We got the Peking duck, chicken, and scallops. All of them tasted great and portion size was good for the price!

SO HAPPY I finally got to try this spot and peking duck! You have to call to place a reservation with one order of peking duck in it. I feel like they have a lot of seating so you can easily call last minute as well (which is what I did). The staff were very classy and attentive. It was just such a lovely experience! The peking duck too was so delicious and truly done perfectly. The crispy skin plus all the things to make it a perfect wrap! I highly recommend this spot and they really do live up their food and bragging rights for having done peking duck since 2004! The fried rice was good too but the duck was just so outstanding I didn't need other dishes. I also went alone which I would recommend bringing people, and was able to eat the entire duck haha! Compared to some places they have great prices here! $95 for the duck and two plates of the things to make the wraps. My bill was $136 ($170 w tip) including peking duck, fried rice, coke, and jasmine tea pot.

Ji Rong's Peking duck is the best! We specifically wanted to come here because we heard how delicious the duck was. Indeed it was! The skin was very crispy and the meat so tender and juicy. Wrapping it up in the Chinese tortilla, while adding the cucumbers and hoisin sauce, bomb in your mouth! The noodles, braised tofu, mayonnaise shrimp, and the veggies were good, but the star is the duck. Make sure to order the duck ahead to ensure they'll have it ready for you when you arrive. If you've tried Peking duck at other locations and liked it, come here and try it for yourself. You will not be disappointed. Best duck I've ever had.

Stir-Fried Hot and Spicy Cabbage ($13.98). Not spicy, but delicious.
    Dan L.

I had a fantastic dining experience here. The signature Roasted Peking Duck was quite satisfying. The included condiments were of a noticeably more generous portion than what I have seen to be typically provided at other establishments serving this dish. The Stir-Fried Hot and Spicy Cabbage proved to a solid vegetable option - despite its name, it was not spicy (though it was oily and vinegary, which I enjoyed). If you're not craving duck, I can highly recommend the Angus Beef with Fresh Chili. The sauce of this dish struck me as a slightly spicy and somewhat less salty soy sauce. The dish does also have serving of peppercorns in it, which will be good if you're craving that "mala" sensation. Interestingly, the milk teas offered on the menu (based on the cup's labelling) appear to be from the Good Alley restaurant which is located at the same strip mall that Ji Rong is located at. In case you're wondering, there is indeed (expectedly) a markup relative to what they would appear to cost if purchased directly at Good Alley, but it was not significant from a nominal perspective (approximately $2/drink). The service was first rate - extra napkins were brought without us needing to ask for them. We were offered clean replacement plates twice during our visit. The check was not brought before I asked. I would suggest coming early if possible (as close to 5PM for dinner) - parking was still available on a Saturday at approximately 520PM, but the lot seemed alarmingly full by the time we left the restaurant. Additionally, our party of 2 was seated in a semi-enclosed area at a large 8-person table (complete with a lazy Susan) shared with 2 other parties of 2 (we were given this option in lieu of apparently waiting longer for an unshared table). This did not prove to be an issue, as both other parties were polite and pleasant to dine with.

    北京烤鴨 Peking Duck was delicious!

I noticed you have a special lunch menu, specifically the one that serves 4-6 people for $175, would that only be available weekdays or is it available on the weekends between 11 am and 3:30? Also, would we have to make a reservation for lunch?

No reservations required. Only available lunch dine in weekdays.

Corkage is $28 as of October 2024. That's ridiculous?

No that's is very reasonable these days

It is considered…read moreto be one of the best destinations for fresh seafood, with the accent on Chinese cuisine. What has shunned me from this place, is the distance and the traffic, from the SFV. Finally, I made the journey. And arrived for lunch, on a weekday. To come here and not order their iconic Signature dish, the House Special Newport Style Lobster, would be a sin. Imagine a trip that was almost 40 miles and an hour of traffic (one way), with no reward. It was time to experience the real thing. The signature dish. Walking in solo, I was given a booth. I liked that. On seating, I ordered a beverage to quench my thirst, catch my bearings and breath. Almost immediately, the servers kept bugging me to order. The place was barely 1/4th occupied. Whats the hurry. After all this, I had to repeatedly tell them, that i had already spoken with a server, regarding my order. Just wanted to relax first, catch my breath, sip my beverage. Coming here, I was aware that their tank lobsters would be in the 4-6 pound range. Good for, and ordered by, at least 3-4 people. So when I, as a solo diner, ordered a 4-pound lobster (with no other choice), just for myself, they began to leave me alone and give me more respect. The cut up wok prepared, House Special Newport Style Lobster, arrives wonderfully presented, with heaps of leeks, scallions and jalapenos. My kind of recipe. Truly unique and exceptional. There is no sauce, and only a mild flavor, yet tasty. My biggest concern here was (after reading numerous internet reviews), that the lobster would be rubbery and dry. Not so for me. I lucked out. Problem here is, while there is lots of meat (a 4 pound lobster will yield at the most, about a pound of meat), they do not have, or provide, the essential lobster cutlery, to do justice to this beautiful crustacean. I did ask though. They did not seem to care and told me to use my fork. LOL. Steamed rice is complimentary. So is a soup, with sweet and sour, being the only choice (I did not like this). Either way, my plan was to take leftovers (there was a lot), home, where I possess high class lobster cracking tools. And thank heavens I did. They were most useful, to crack and dig into all the lobster meat, that would have been inaccessible at the restaurant. With additional TLC, the leftovers held up well, to provide several additional lobster meals. Need to go back to try their enticing and reasonably priced variety of lunch specials (more seafood, choices minus lobster). Another sought after box on my list, is now checked.

Pork Ramen: 3/5 They give you a hefty amount of noodles and pork. They use a thin noodle here which pairs well with the broth. I truly do believe this was around average for ramen as the flavor in the broth was not as strong or savory. The highlight of the entire entree was definitely the pork, which was tender and flavorful. I probably would not order this again. Pork bun: 5/5 The pork buns were soft and fluffy, almost too good looking to eat. There was the right amount of soup and meat inside that made for a wonderful bite full of flavor. Not dry at all. Would recommend ordering this if you visit. Pork Dumplings: 5/5 The star of the show, the dumplings. They were soft and just like the buns, they had the right amount of soup + meat which made for a delicious bite every time. My toddler even ate some and she's usually super picky about meat. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the other noodles, the dumplings, and buns. You can skip on the ramen. I would 100% come back here to dine in. Quick note that parking gets full pretty quick here.

All of the dishes were yummy! We had enough to bring leftovers home. We arrived at 8:30am on a weekday and had plenty of seats to choose from. Since my husband and I were in the general area, we decided to get a late dinner on a Saturday night. We walked in around 8:45 pm and were acknowledged by an employee after waiting for maybe 5 minutes asking if we would like a table. But the strange thing was that I had told the the employee who acknowledged me that I wanted a table for 2, he didn't sit us. He looked like he was trying to clean the table but then just walked away... but luckily another employee saw us and asked how many for a table. But anyway, after looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: A11: Fish Siu Mai with Rice Roll, $13.99 prior to tax- I ordered this dish, which was plenty for one person (this dish is found under the appetizer section of the menu). I actually really love rice noodles and also fish siu mai so this was a great combination for me. And the peanut and soy sauce mixture poured all over reminds me of when I had freshly made rice noodle in Hong Kong many years ago. But my husband would prefer the rice noodle not to have any of the sauce (or on the side so he can maybe just dip it if he wanted to). I think this dish could use less of the peanut soy sauce mixture too but I still overall really liked this dish. D9: Grilled Pork Chop with Black Pepper Sauce, $16.99 prior to tax- This dish comes with your choice of either steamed white rice or noodle. My husband decided to have rice. He thought the pork chop was delicious and perfectly cooked. He also really liked the black pepper sauce that he picked to go with the pork chop (I know you can also pick a mushroom sauce but I don't recall if there was a 3rd sauce you can choose from or not). Portion wise, this is more than enough for one person since you are getting 2 pork chops. This is actually one of my mom's favorite dishes to order when she goes to any Hong Kong style cafes too. ----------------------------------- (Total= $34.23 after tax, prior to tip) Service was minimal. I spoke both Cantonese and English (well actually my husband spoke English and I spoke in Cantonese. I am just trying to make myself speak Cantonese more) so you shouldn't really have a problem ordering here. I really like the food and I am glad this place does open late. And it was pretty busy as time progressed while we were here. We also saw a few large groups come in and the staff moving quickly to put tables together to accommodate these big groups. Overall, we had a positive dining experience and would come back.

Obviously, you can't come to a place that has lobster in the menu without ordering lobster, and we got the House Special Lobster (Large) with Garlic Noodle. Other items we ordered were the French Style Beef Cube, Braided Crab Meat & Fish Maw Soup, Beef Mongolian, Crispy Fried Sole Fish, BBQ Fried Rice, Clams with Spicy Sauce, Crispy Fried Squid with Salt and Pepper, and Clams with Black Bean Sauce. The portions are actually quite massive for each dish. All of it was very solid and tasty Chinese food. We were definitely very stuffed after this lunch was over! Service here is solid enough for a Chinese place. They were pretty quick with getting us extra plates to change out our dirty plates and more bowls as needed. And they were quick with the water. But yeah, you do have to flag them down to get their attention. They do have a parking lot here, and we got here early enough on a Sunday where parking wasn't an issue. However, I can see it being a problem on busier days. Boston Lobster is definitely worth a visit if you want solid Chinese food at a fair affordable price. Really good!

It's simple what they do well here, they make darn good food that tastes like homemade food (healthy and delicious), they price everything on the menu very reasonably (especially in these crazy times), and they treat all their customers like family/neighbors. Now that I've given you the why, let's move on to the good food. We usually order the beef noodle soup because of how tender the meat is and the soup & noodles are just perfect comfort food. And we always pair it with veggies (garlic cucumbers or water spinach) and pork dumplings are also amazing. Almost any of their braised meat rice/noodles are just really good (popular ones are braised pork rice or braised chicken leg rice). Interior space is also very roomy and comfortable for big groups or cozy meals Parking is pretty easy since they have a lot in their back entrance and they used to let you park underground as well but the building's new management started closing the gates at 6pm because they're just sad and unfriendly human beings lol but luckily the surrounding area has many places to park.

This restaurant is difficult to get parking because it is located inside a small plaza on the corner of Valley and Garfield. Fortunately, I found a parking space there. We ordered Garlic Cucumber, Braised Pork Rice, Garlic Water Spinach, Braised Beef Noodles, Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, Garlic Beef Cubes, and two Thai Milk Teas. I'm able to speak with the owner, who informs me that this restaurant does not use MSG or other ingredients. Everything is fresh and healthy. After tasting the food and the Braised Beef Noodles, I can tell it's really tasty and light, with no harsh components that make you thirsty and want to drink more water. So far, my family and I have really enjoyed the food here. Definitely will return and try other delicious foods next time.

My sisters-in-law who live in the area highly recommended this spot when we were deciding on a Sunday dinner the night before we flew out. Among the four of us, we ordered: - Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings) - Biang Biang Noodles: least numbing of the noodle dishes we ordered. If you LOVE carbs and not a lot of sauce, this one's for you! - Dandan noodles: this thin noodle dish is slightly more numbing than the Biang Biang noodles, but still bearable and tasty. - Chongqing Special Noodles: most numbing of the three! I had to pause eating this a few times as it was getting a little uncomfy! The noodles are side but thinner than the Biang Biang noodles. I liked that we ordered noodle dishes each with different noodle types, flavors, and spice levels. The Biang Biang noodles were respite from the Chongqing Special Noodles, while the Dandan noodles had the right amount of peanut flavor and "mala." We arrived 45 minutes before closing on a Sunday night (it was a holiday the next day though). We were surprised that there was still a line of people wait in for seats close to closing time! Thinking we weren't going to be seated, we decided to order for takeout. We ended up being the last party to be seated! The staff was kind to transfer our takeout orders as dine-in dishes! The staff had the right amount of customer service and attentiveness for a Chinese restaurant, if you know what I mean haha. For amazing noodle dishes, comfortable seating, and accommodating service, Chong Qing Special Noodles gets a solid five star rating!

Staffs were very friendly (sometimes hard to find in restaurants like this)! Someone walked around several times to refill water, in which I desperately needed and appreciated lol
