This was our first time here and wow they did not disappoint. Calamari and honey brussels were amazing as was the mofongo. We sat inside since it was cold out and I felt very safe, tables were 6 ft away from each other and employees wore gloves and masks. This restaurant is amazing. The food and drinks are delicious. Order the wings (mojo) and for dessert, get the tres leches! You won't be disappointed. This restaurant is up to standards with the pandemic going on. I have been here 5 times in the last 4 months and i feel safe, each and every time. The art in this restaurant is pretty cool too. The owner is friendly and super accommodating. He even brought out a whole cake for my friend's birthday. i highly recommend this restaurant, for a night out with friends, date night, or even take out. Perfect place for when you're hungry but not too hungry. They are still tweaking the menu but they have something for everyone's taste buds. Had visited Donjito when it first opened and was not impressed I went back because of the karaoke and wow all I can say is give bartender Sam a raise her personality and mannerisms were infectious she made sure we felt welcome and were having a good time. I wish I could give more stars, as the service was really good, and it was a nice interior. But the food was just so lackluster. We tried the signature paella and it was fairly bland. The arepas were not really arepas. The tacos left something to be desired. Portion sizes were generous and presentation was nice, but flavor was just lacking :( read more

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner last night. I made a reservation and walking in straight to the hostess stand. I'm not sure if she was the owner or manager, but we were greeted by a friendly woman who seated us right away. I immediately felt a family vibe when I walked in and loved the decor. Our waiter arrived shortly after and was very pleasant. He took our drink and app order. I ordered a spicy strawberry margarita. I'm 99% sure the bartender forgot to put strawberries into it because it was entirely green and did not taste anything like strawberries, however, it was delicious anyway. My boyfriend ordered a Moscow Mule that was pretty good too! We ordered the tostadas as the app and they were really good! They had good flavor and the sauces that accompanied each tostada were very tasty! Our dinners were even better! The paella was delicious and the seafood scampi pasta was phenomenal! We also ordered the churros for dessert which were pretty good! I am very excited to return to Donjito! I already had my eye on a few other items on the menu! I loved how friendly the entire staff was. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The bartender even told us to "have a great night" as we were walking out and we didn't sit anywhere near the bar for dinner. This is a restaurant I will be recommending to family, friends, and colleagues. I will be back soon! read more

The ambiance was amazing. low lighting but not too low, great Spanish guitar playing in the background, excellent service and delicious steak! Bar area looks like somewhere i'd like to come back and have a drink at and i cant wait to try the patio seating in the summer. I had the churrasco and it was perfectly cooked, medium rare and tasted great, well seasoned. Service was very attentive and offered suggestions. my wife and i finished our meal and stayed a half hour more chatting and we didnt feel rushed one bit. Had a great time! read more

Made reservations for a Friday night, arrived and was told we had to wait because they had no menus left. When we did get seated, our server was very sweet and recommended an amazing watermelon drink. Unfortunately when we got our meal, there was a staple in my friends dish. They took it back and brought her another one but charged her for it, which I thought wasn't right especially since you are a new establishment and want to make a good impression. If you're looking for poorly executed Mexican paired with ill-informed wait staff, this is the place for you. We started with guacamole and totopos. Not sure what that is? Don't worry--the waiter didn't know either. Turns out, it means Chips. And the chips could have been from a Trader Joe's bag best used by May '17. Totopos it all off, the guacamole was a baby portion. The drinks --and I needed many to deal with the wait time for them--were okay but took forever. When we finally got our appetizers, which should have taken 5 minutes but took 20, our main courses arrived 3 minutes later. Verdict: wait 6 months until they get it together, or go elsewhere. read more

Disappointing. The first time was good when we had gone for dinner. This time, it was a large party for lunch, nobody else in the place. Service was sooo slow. Our entire table had their meal and had finished when my sandwich and my husband's salad came out. Then we ordered dessert and everyone at the table agreed that the cream tasted like it was spoiled. The server was very nice and took it off the check, but it was just very disappointing. Also, please put a changing table in the bathroom! Or any elevated flat surface. The bathrooms are huge but there's nowhere to change a diaper so we all changed our kids on chairs. Sorry to other patrons, but there wasn't any other choice. Cuban sandwich was delicious and huge portions but tacos are tiny. The server seemed to be great and really helpful so I'm not sure if it was back of house that was off their game, but I wouldn't try it again. Also, the menu is a little too limiting for me. I'd love to see more traditional Mexican dishes. But they did accommodate us with a chicken quesadilla for the kids, which was great! Their sister restaurant In Scarsdale is awesome, though! read more
