They do a great job. We unfortunately had book lice, likely brought it from cardboard boxes in Costco. Ramon was the guy to have inspect for us. He is super busy so it caused a lot of anxiety to wait a few days for our house to get treated. He was familiar with this while other pest companies were not. So we trusted him. He answered our questions and was very responsive. He put our minds at ease- mostly mine. I lost a lot of sleep over this issue, but thankful these things don't like humans. From start to finish Donovan's was THE BEST! I wish more companies were run as professionally as this one. We hired them because we heard critters at night and couldn't figure out where the sounds were coming from. Donovan's took care of everything including finding the "critters," closing up entry points, placing and removing traps, and cleaning up after! Every step of the process and appointment included a confirmation phone call, a work summary, and a follow up call for next steps. This level of communication is what impressed me the most. This review is specifically for Delaney. We had a small insect nest in our shed and wanted an inspection from DPC. Delaney looked at the pics and immediately identified it to be an empty Mud dauber nest. He explained how common they were and how they caused no harm. I asked the lady to confirm and get back to me that they can't help us for sure. She said that she'll confirm and let me know. We had ants after the heavy rains. Donnovan's team come out several times to treat both inside & outside our home. They were extremely busy but still found time to come within a day & treat the areas. It took a few visits & treatments to get them all! After the 3rd visit, our ant problem is under control. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. These folks are the WORST. From what I understand, they USED to be a great family-run company, which is why they were recommended to me. But be aware that as of Nov. 2021 they sold out to one of the big pest control conglomerates (Certus). They took advantage of my elderly mother, never solved her rat issue, and jilted her out of a lot of $. Don't waster your time!!! I called last week for an appointment. They scheduled it for 8/16/21 from 11:30 - 1:30. I called at 1:30 to see if the person would arrive soon only to be told that he might arrive 2:00. I told the lady I needed to leave. She apologized and told me someone would be here today 8/17 around 8:15. Called at 9:15 and was told my appointment is now for tomorrow. They're very professional when you talk to them in person, but they didn't do the job, and they're hard to get a hold of. I had some rats in my crawl space. They came out and performed exclusion work, to keep the rats out, and set traps. The traps caught ZERO rats, and the rats are still there. We've been attempting to contact them to see if they are planning to come back out and take care of the rats, but so far we haven't gotten them to return our calls. read more

We have used Donovan's Pest Control for the last 5 years. We have been so happy with their service, responsiveness, professionalism and overall attention to detail. The first issue we had was rats. Donovan's immediately came out and took care of this issue promptly and effectively. Then we had a wasp nest under the eaves of our house right by our front door. Donovan's came out right away and safely removed the wasp nest. We had moles in our front lawn and Donovan's took care of that problem as well. Our most recent issue was with June bugs. We emailed a picture of a June bug to Donovan's. Originally we did not know what type of bug it was. Many of the big chain pest controllers want to make an appointment for a consultant, and then make you wait another week for service. AWFUL! These people are absolutely nightmarish to work with... horrendously unhelpful on the telephone and customer-service wise... perhaps the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They claim to be "diamond certified" -- I cannot believe that's true, unless "diamond" means "rude and stupid." You are better off with a can of RAID or a bucket of vinegar. Blech! read more

I called Donovan about some biting insects. They came out and did a bedbug inspection... they didn't find any. He also couldn't find any signs of other biting bugs. He gave me a quote for bedbug spraying. What the heck? He found no bedbugs but recommends bedbug service? read more

HIghly recommend Donovan's pest control - we have had rats coming into our garage and all of the technicians have been very helpful and patient, explaining what we should do and look for, as well as suggestions on the best way to trap as well as close off all entry points. They were great about following up constantly and making sure that they could answer any of our questions, and as soon as a rat was trapped, they would immediately come and take it away. Do not sign a contract with this company! They do not do the work that is necessary to catch mice. I told their service techs on two occasions that the mice are under the house, there are burrows under there. They don't want to go there. One guy says, "Yeah I don't smell any, you sure it isn't a squirrel?" When I told him I heard a mouse in the wall and then saw a mouse in the attic, he says, "Well, all the traps are empty, so everything is good." Then why do I still hear scratching in the walls at night!! Go with a different company! read more

Nice people but POOR scheduling and communication. They phoned to schedule the second of six visits they need to make and left me a voicemail, which I got when I returned from vacation. Nevertheless, I prepped the house and was ready for them. They didn't show. When I phoned to ask why, I was told the appointment had been moved to the following week. Today was the day they were supposed to come and again they didn't show. I phoned and learned that they moved the appointment to three days from now. WTF? How about telling me? And all I got from the dude on the phone today is "we don't have a record of you ever having an appointment today." That is some great customer service, huh? I would advise you to avoid this business unless you enjoy being stood up. read more

We have a very rare cockroach situation in our Stanford university apartment, which has been tricky to treat, especially during the lockdown. But both Kevin and Abdel have been just fantastic. I can't speak for their management, as Donovan's is contracted through our leasing office, but our service with them directly has been very professional. Update to today: TLDR: they no-showed on a hard-confirmed time arranged by phone. Long version: Handed off to my partner as I'm about done with these folks and getting unproductively frustrated. This time she called to set up an appointment to try to work around the prior problems. Scheduled to today. Again, all set up and confirmed over the phone and arranged in advance enough that we could make adjustments. Plan is that we should receive a confirmation text a few days in advance (the same ones that were previously coming for random times and being called "confirmations" to the point where we were going to be charged for changing them), and then a text the day of narrowing the 2-hour window to 30 minutes or so. Get the mid-week text. Seems good-to-go. Arranged to have the kids away. Taped up cabinets. Plans made to have the dog away. The window opens and no text to update time. The window starts to close, and still no text. Called and find out that "We didn't get a confirmation text back from you so you're not on the schedule." They can't get anyone here. No show. No help. We've pre-paid for this, mind you, and now running on more weeks with the pests. read more

I don't write reviews, however I felt compelled to do so based on my recent poor, and extremely frustrating, experience with Donovan's. First they require that the customer sign an adhesion contract which requires 1 year of service without the ability to terminate, and if the customer chooses to terminate, they must pay for the reminder of the year, in full. After much back and forth they agreed to 6 months with no termination penalty, however the revised agreement still had the early termination clause. Because there was no ability to make changes to the DocuSign Agreement, nor would they send me a word or PDF editable version, I had to print, make handwritten changes, scan and return. Ultimately the first appointment was scheduled, for which the technician arrived an hour and a half after the scheduled 2 hour time window, without any contact. The technician proceeded to inform me that the office told him that he could not perform the service without first getting my CC on file, a clause I did not initial nor agree to. I then spoke with a rude office employee who reiterated the same. I informed her that I would pay once the service was completed and asked to discuss with a manager or the owner. I was told that neither was available and I asked for a return call. No call. Technician was informed by the rude office employee to leave. Before doing so the technician informed me that he had another appointment down the street and would call me when he was done with a status. No call. Suffice it to to say, I will find another less pesky pest company. read more

So disappointed with this company. I waited one week for just a quote about my Ant problem then 2 days before the appointment, they called to reschedule. Someone called and said it's gonna have to be another day then I asked if there's anything earlier, a cancellation even today I will take off work just to make this happen because I'm already taking a lot of heat from my wife for not hiring anyone sooner. Then she said with an ATTITUDE "I'll just cross you off the list then!" then hung up. Didn't even answer my question. I'm like,,..."Wow, really?" I could've hired somebody 5 days ago and kept the peace in my house but I was thinking it's worth the wait but instead, disappointment. I'm glad though it happened before I signed a contract and got stuck with them. read more

I had a smelly problem with dead rats under my house. Another company came out and found one and took it out. Smell did not go away. I called Donovan's, and they found another one and it's nest and took care of it, they also did exterior rodent proofing and their job was excellent and very reasonable priced. We are very happy to provide this review for Donovan's Pest control. We had a flea problem. We've had cats for over ten years without any problems and all of a sudden, all 3 cats caught fleas!!! (Argh!) So our poor cats were eaten alive and so were the humans, we had bites all over and it was AWFUL! I had contacted one my my usual pest control guy but he couldn't help us as he was short staffed (employee hurt himself). He did recommend Donovan's so I decided to give them a call. Donovan's pest control sent Delaney, the supervisor to assess the problem. He took the time to listen and was very understanding as we were in distress, freaking out and were covered in flea bites! They came up with a game plan (and provided us with instructions as to how to treat the house/linens, etc). They took the time to explain what they were going to do and why. We also got a lesson about flea life cycle. They sprayed both the inside and outside of the house. Delaney even went into the crawl space and worked his magic! We noticed a drop in the number of bites, etc a few days after the first treatment. A month later, we did a repeat to get rid of any eggs/remnants (as i'm paranoid and want to kill these buggers for good!). Kevin S. came for the second visit and was very nice and professional as well. These guys know what they are doing and we are very happy with their services. The lady on the phone (Jessica) was also very helpful and pleasant as well. I was able to get appointments etc without any problems. When they said they will come at a certain date within a certain time frame, they show up! We highly recommend Donovan's and wanted to say THANK YOU to Delaney and Kevin. Silverfish and moths had invaded our house, infested the old wool carpets, and horrified the tenants. I looked for a company that wasn't a fly-by-night, upselling sprayer of random chemicals (the tenants are delicate flowers, more likely to faint at the thought of a toxin than the sight of a silverfish). Donovan sent Juan, who was very careful, very thorough, and very conscientious. We have, since the first treatment, seen one moth. Likely it is an outlier, an anomalous specimen now alone in its world. The second treatment, Juan told me, should have been more than enough--no need for ongoing treatments. So, no upselling. I also very much enjoyed conversing with Juan as he was working. He's thought a lot about a lot of things during the hours he spends destroying bug life. Altogether, having our house treated for insects turned out to be, to my surprise, not an awful experience. Thanks, Juan! read more

Donovan's is our #1 pest control choice. We had a large number of bugs in the backyard but wasn't sure where they came from. We called and Donovan's sent Juan. He explained, treated and gave us helpful tips on how to prevent them from coming back. That was a year and a half ago. They never came back. This time we had bugs in the front yard and ants problems. It was a no brainer for us. We called Donovan's. they sent Delaney. He treated both problems. He noted that some ants may try to come inside since he sprayed outside. Told us that if they do and it persists for longer than a few days to call. Sure enough ants started to cone into the house. We called a week later. No hassle nothing. Donovan's sent Delaney and he retreated the outside and inside this time. That was Thursday. No bugs. No ants since. We have never used a pest control company before. After waking up to ominous sounding noises in the ceiling (chewing, shredding), and having dealt with rats under our old house over the years, we called Terminix. We were promised a call back within an hour. Two hours later, no call, so we called Donovan's. A very pleasant person answered the phone, took down some details and set an appointment two days later, giving us a 2-hour target time period. The nice Donovan's employee showed up on time, did a thorough inspection around the foundation, on the upper and lower roofs and up in the attic spaces. He reported that nothing had gotten inside--most likely the noise came from attempts to build a nest in the siding from the outside. We haven't heard the noises since, and believe he is correct. He didn't try to sell us on extra services--we've read that Terminix salespeople make their money on hawking extra services. And Terminix finally got around to calling more than a day late. We'd call Donovan's again without a doubt. And we're happy to support family-run businesses in this climate. read more

They did a good job-got rid of our gopher problem after only one month (2 visits) in our small yard (we started out with about 1 gopher in the front yard and 1-2 gophers in the backyard).
