Food much better than most Don's locations so a nice surprise. Service was friendly and good. Ambiance is what you expect. Bar is pretty lively after 5 pm for sure! Prices are reasonable compared to a lot of places adding to its popularity as it's busier than most places.

Great place to get a tastes of Cajun and creole food. Food here is not the healthiest but definitely incredibly delicious. This place looks so amazing inside, like an old historic place, which it is :) Service was good. Definitely try our shrimps for appetizers and gator bites -- so good. I also enjoyed seafood gumbo.

Food 4/5 I had crab stuff shrimp with red beans and rice with string bean. My dinner was delicious! I would return. I selected this place per recommendation for great seafood. I recommend. Service 4/5 I sat at the bar and the service was nice. Ambiance 4/5 This place gets packed. Seated at the bar I was up close and personal to the grill where are the magic happens with the oysters!

We like Don's for its consistently good service and food. The chargrilled oysters, crab claws, and fried seafood are always fresh and very well executed. It's definitely worth a visit.

In town and meeting friends for dinner the suggestion was Dons Seafood. We met at 5:30 and Dons was already rocking. The three of us ate in the bar which has plenty of bar/counter space as well as TVs you watch the current game Denise was our server and she did an excellent job. We started with jacked oysters and fried alligator , both were worth ordering but the Gator was exceptional My entree was the grilled redfish, adult Mac and cheese and green beans. Additionally Dons food and alcohol prices are extremely friendly priced . I had one of my favorite red wines for a fraction of the price it usually is and dinner for 3 was surprisingly inexpensive Dons is a fun and local place to get good food and service while not breaking the bank

DON'S IS TRULY ONE OF A KIND! I'm from Breaux Bridge and have lived in Los Angeles the last 11 years, but every time I come back home, I have to get Don's!!! This time around, we came to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday, and we knew the menu was sure to provide everything she'd love (she's a picky one! A true Louisiana cook with high standards, so we had to choose wisely!) Because there were too many of us in the party for a booth, we had to sit at a larger table, meaning we wouldn't get the cushioned seats. Our server kindly accommodated my grandmother with a cushion for her seat so that she could be comfortable! We GREATLY appreciate this, as my granny is older and her bones aren't fond of hard chairs. MAJOR appreciation for the accommodation. Now let's get to the food! I couldn't come and NOT get the stuffed crab! I've eaten this since I was in elementary school, and my mom and I are hooked on it TO THIS DAY! They taste the absolute same! I love it when places don't change the recipe when it isn't broken! And that GUMBO, baby!!! Whew, every bite is absolutely delectable, and they still put the lump crab pieces in there and are never stingy with the shrimp! I love the for that! The classic Seafood Platter was on point per usual, with the PERFECT batter for the fish and shrimp! I really and truly have no complaints! Thanks for making my grandma's milestone birthday super special, and thanks for bringing me that nostalgia I've always appreciated from your establishment!

Ok just to say. We stopped by Dons seafood today for the first time. I have to say, that from the first minute we walked in the door we were treated so good Gene the general manager met us at the door. We told him it was our first time there. He made sure we had a booth like we asked and even came back to check on us. He ask if everything was to our liking. And of course it was beyond what we expected. Our waitress named Alissa with it only being her 4 th day, she done an amazingly awesome job. I would highly recommend this place. The portions were more than adequate. The food was over the top. For a must try place to have any Creole food you want. Go To This Place!!!!

Love Don's Seafood! Every time I come it's a good vibe. They are always super busy and I love it. Staff doesn't make you feel rushed and they handle themselves like they are not super busy. Which is a great thing because I know they are stressed, but it never shows. Okay! Let's get into the seafood. Oysters are always great! I love their crab claws! I love a good French martini and Don's makes the best in my opinion! Love Don's do much!!

On vacation and was recommended this place. As usual we sat at the bar. Shelby & Kevin greeted us right away. Order some drinks and shrimp appetizer. She then showed us how to eat craw fish as we never had this before. It was interesting, and something I would eat if I was at someone's home. I had catfish and red beans. Wife had catfish Acadian. All was very good. Our service was great with nice conversation. The bar area is very well put together. Sorry no pics of food. Ate it to quickly. The bar area was very busy and the dining are was hoping too. If your in the area I would recommend this place, as they have a alot of food options to choose from.

Delicious! We really enjoyed our food and the service was really good as well! Would recommend!

Local favorite! Amazing atmosphere, food cooked on a open flame. The smoked fresh oysters are amazing, the bloody Mary's are so delicious and the staff is very helpful. I recommend this place to anyone also family friendly.

This was a recommendation from our bed and breakfast and since it was crawfish season, decided to try it out! My husband got a couple pounds of boiled crawfish. I got the broiled shrimp. Everything tasted great. The only thing I wasn't happy with was my cocktail. I tried the turtle and it was supposed to come with crushed pecans on the rim and it did not. It also didn't look very chocolatey, so I feel like I didn't really get what I asked for but also hate sending stuff back. We didn't have room for dessert, so we skipped it. I highly recommend the fried crab claw appetizer! That was fantastic!!!

We had chicken and sausage gumbo, Pepper Jack boudin balls, bam bam gator bites and the blackened chicken pasta. The waiter this time was better than the waitress we had last time. He was very attentive and made sure we never had to ask for refills. The appetizers came out fairly normal time-wise I would say. The main portion took a little bit longer than what you're used to at a franchise restaurant but here that's perfectly fine as it's worth the couple extra minutes. The gumbo is perfect(I love when gumbo is not over complicated) I like to add a lil hot sauce to it and it's delicious... only thing is, while they already give generous portions... the cup and the bowl looked exactly the same except I think in the bowl they give you one extra scoop of rice... which would be just fine if it wasn't like $6 more. But still delicious nonetheless. The bam bam gator bites were really good and I highly recommend them. If you like bam bam shrimp you'll love these. The pepper jack boudin balls were good, nothing special but they were definitely worth the try. My co-worker had the blackened chicken pasta and when I asked him how it was he said "dude, it's really good!" lol. The building is pretty unique and they have some outside seating with a massive beautiful tree that over looks the restaurant and takes claim to some of the asphalt in the parking lot lol. But it's a great spot for birthdays, good lunch menu deals, casual date night or if you wanna blow some steam off, they have a little bar in the restaurant as well. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend. I'm from East Texas, so I'm no Cajun/Louisianan but they truly got some good grub here. I'll definitely be coming back several more times when I get the chances. I will warn you, I believe the food is freshly made so when it gets to the table, give it some time to cool off because it comes out HOT.

Or that they argued with the amazing manager for nearly an hour total after being told they couldn't accommodate that size party. They're also leaving out the part where people from their group marched in and seated themselves, stood over occupied tables waiting for guests to leave, insisting the hosts clean the tables, and made the entire restaurant uncomfortable. This had nothing to do with race and everything to do with behavior. Any group acting like that would've gotten the exact same response. In short, do better. This may have been part of the reason its wasn't all that busy on a Tuesday lunch. Similar to some other restaurants in Louisiana I've visited, they have a side with a bar, to-go area and high tops, and a more family oriented side of the restaurant with a bunch of low top tables. Fried pork rinds are served with every table. They have daily plate lunches and the one day I came it was chicken fried steak. However, it's not usually a good idea to order CFS outside of Texas in my experience. Therefore, I ended up ordering the catfish and shrimp platter, served grilled instead and added a $5 strawberry margarita. The entree comes with a side salad but they only have seelct dressings and none which I would typically order, so i just settled on honey mustard. Margarita- for only $5 it's not bad and comes with either sugar or salt rim Catfish and shrimp platter - seasoned with a blackened seasoning but it wasn't spicy. The catfish filet was small and tasted like it was previously frozen. The shrimp were also small and didn't taste much better. Not sure I'd return if ever in Lafayette, as I was really looking for a more festive environment and more grilled options.

Growing up, my…read moreparents were fond of them, so they've been a part of most vacations, and many of them tend to blend into one another. Vermilionville, however, stood out as one of the best, and is a memory I'll hang onto for a while. The attendants in period garb were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The woman with her spinning wheel even gave us a demonstration. She had taught herself to spin whilst working there and explained the excessive amount of hours it took to finish even one sweater. She also made it possible for me to try the bread pudding I'd been eyeing on the restaurant menu; she warned me they were closing in just 15 minutes so we rushed over and put our order in. Now, I'm not sure if their restaurant has its own yelp page so I'll just review it here. That pudding was the most delicious, most perfect bread pudding I've ever had, and I've tried quite a lot from some of the best places in NOLA. The top was crisply caramelized, and the center was a buttery custard infused with vanilla and cinnamon--an aromatic taste sensation. The server brought me two containers to go (an extra as I'd only asked for one!) and I was so excited to try it, I devoured the first one while wandering between the houses. There were some rather beautiful little homes, furnished with accurate historic decor, and I appreciated that we were able to look at things on our own, at our own pace, free from having to follow a guide. We visited on a day it was set to storm, but we were able to see most of the buildings before the sky opened up on us. We foolishly forgot to bring umbrellas of any kind, so we ended up darting between structures, and eventually taking refuge in the old church while the worst of the rain passed. It was atmospheric and memorable. We found some charming animals in a little barn--a donkey and two sheep and we said hello. There were even mushrooms, and among them we found a single chanterelle, so keep an eye out, fellow mushroom hunters! Lastly, you must leave adequate time to check out the gift shop. They have something for everyone, and much of it made by local artisans! I would recommend Vermilionville to anyone with an appreciation for southern history.
