THIS PLACE IS SO GOOOODDDD first off the owner is so sweet she runs the business with her family they are wonderful people. The food is terrific my favorite is the green beans, they have this thick sweet and salty sauce on top and it's the best thing ever. The pho is also incredibly delicious my favorite was the beef ball one. Shrimp dumplings are a must and the boba portions are HUGE. This is the biggest cup of boba you can get in this entire city and it's only $7. There are so many flavors and the boba is cooked to perfection. After 5 hour flying to Reno on the cold plane we wanted to have some warm soupy food for dinner. We found Pho Noodle. We ordered beef rice noodle, wonton soup, and vegetable spring rolls. I remembered 5 years ago when I first came across this donut shop. I immediately questioned the presence of Pho here. Turns out, there's also Chinese food in the mix. I had my doubts but what I had actually turned out to be great. The donuts are always fresh and have just the right amount off sweetness. On a side note, I'm not a donut person and I'm not into things that are too sweet. (Though I will say that a doughboy's donut is an exception. Haha.)The times I've been here, I always run into people that love their donuts. I finally got to try out their pho and Chinese food. My husband got the pho and I got the schezuan eggplant, walnut shrimp, and egg drop soup. The eggplant was huge in portion with lots of fresh onions, garlic and carrots. Though not as salty as I'm used to in other restaurants, it still was yummy. I practically ate the whole dish. The egg drop soup was your standard soup. Fresh, with bits of veggies and fresh eggs. My kids enjoyed it. The honey walnut shrimp had nice big quality shrimp with ok batter and wasn't drenched too much in sauce. The walnuts are key in this dish and they weren't crunchy at all. The glaze was also lacking. I didn't have a chance to taste the pho in its entirety but I did get a chance to taste the broth. It was good and I can't wait to taste a bowl for myself. They have extra treats on the side including Chinese bbq pork buns and Kolach(slightly sweet puffy dough balls stuffed with savory fillings). Depending on the day, they have their usual few options for Kolach available. Their bbq pork bun is just ok. Living in San Francisco, I became a bbq pork snob haha, so my standards are high. I'm used to a bigger, more flavorful and packed with more filling, bun. Their bun reminded me of the bun from honey bakery. The kolache on the other hand was great. Bigger and more fulfilling. They're really fun to eat and very convenient for people on the go. You can't go wrong with them. I've seen pictures of other people's food and can't wait to try their Singapore noodles (basically curry vermicelli noodles with veggies as meat, and hopefully egg) and also their chow fun. Looks good to me. They have tables inside and also have bobba that I have yet to try. Vegetarian menu available. Customer service is always friendly. Being next to lots of food options, it's easy to miss them. I would suggest for people to check out this place. If you're looking you try the kolach, try calling first to see if it's available. Review for a takeaway order. Found this place after we picked up new toys from Apple Store. Food is ready on time, the lady was very friendly according to hubby. Pho is not authentic compared to ones in CA and Chicago, but the noodles, the meat the soup they all taste fine. Will def come back and try other dishes the have. read more

I have never had the pleasure of saying "Gimme an order of Beef Chow Mein, a Bubble drink oh and a Chocolate covered Eclair. This tiny little gem is tucked away in a strip mall next to Subway down the way from Flowing Tide 2 and Chocolate Walrus. On our first visit, Mrs. E decides on the Green Bean dish. After a few moments they politely inform us they are running short on green beans. Rather than stiff us with a smaller portion, we have the option of ordering something completely different orrrr they can make up the difference with another vegetable. So she will be having Green Beans and Broccoli. Large portion and very tasty veggies. I feel the Chow Mein had too much onion. They use a delectable bok choy (to which I'm pleasantly surprised) and the perfect amount of beans, and noodles. This was excellent enough for a return visit. We haven't tried their donuts (not available right now) but we went back three weekends in a row for dinner! Portions are much bigger than we've gotten in for any kind of food in Reno, especially for the price. Husband likes anything with the Szechuan sauce - he's tried shrimp and the eggplant. The triple crown was hearty and a lot of bang for the buck. The house fried rice was really good. Tried the curry vermicelli which was tasty. Spring rolls are god sized but the appetizer you MUST get is the potstickers! Big and doughey and delicious- could be a meal themselves. We liked the veggie egg rolls better than the meat ones. Usually about 1/2hr to 40m wait so not bad for calling in an order. read more

I have been eating in Chinese noodle shops for 40 years from the Bay Area to Carson City. I look for Formica tables and friendly waitresses. A medical technician at Renown gave me this restaurant as I went into the MRI donuts hole. I've been twice now and feel I can highly recommend the Chinese dishes served up inside this no frills restaurant that also serves up fresh American donuts and dim sum. The service can be slow depending on the time of day, but the dishes, including pho, are worth the time. Had some Singapore Rice Noodles today and it was a large portion and perfectly seasoned curry noodles with shrimp. As good as any you can buy in Oakland or San Francisco. So if you appreciate restaurants good food sitting at Formica tables at a decent price, give it a try. read more

My husband and I were first-timers on 9/3/24. We had seen it when dining at Flowing Tide, so we gave it a try for an early dinner. Only one other couple was inside. It's tiny, and booths are the old time diner-style. The first thing you see is the huge donut case, hence the name! Ling, the owner, seated us and took our order. We honestly didn't expect much - but OMGOSH! Portions were huge and delicious! We had Spring Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Kung Pao Shrimp, and Curried Noodles (I forget the exact name). We gorged and still took over half of everything home. Reruns later that week were still delish! We've found a good one and will be going back to try other dishes - or ordering take-out. I'm going to start by saying that I never review places but this place is ridiculous. We called tonight at 5:50 to place an order for two adults and two kids (not a giant order). We were told it would be ready in 40 minutes. We showed up in 40 minutes and they said just a little longer. It literally took them an hour and forty minutes!!!!! So now I have two very hungry kids and it's 7:30. And then when we did finally get the order it was all cold!!! If we hadn't paid already we would have just cancelled the order or walked away. Live in South Reno, I always go to Donut Bistro when I'm craving for Chinese food. The price is decent, and the portion is great. Being a Taiwanese, I think it's way worth the tickets. Was looking for chinese, and in all honesty, this was my second alternative since it has the word 'donut' in its name. The first alternative was closed, so I got to this place. They do not serve donuts according to a sign on the door, and that has already gotten me hopeful. The place is not open for sit-ins, but offers takeout from outside the restaurant. The process of ordering was quite quick, and totally acceptable for this covid-19 times. The food itself is very good, I ordered the potstickers and the general's chicken. Both were very good, and the portions were so large that I've got enough left for another day. Very recommend, will probably get there again before leaving Reno. read more

Don't be fooled friends. This is not just a simple Donut shop. That they have, but this is a complete Vietnamese/Chinese diner, with pho, Viet and Chinese rice and other dishes. Last night we were craving some delicious Pho, It's so hard watching local businesses struggle, and the impact is hard to watch. We ordered a large chicken Pho (they only offer to go orders, by phone) in order to have your order excepted you have to pay over the phone. They no longer offer their delicious donuts, which saddens us because they were delicious! When I arrived I called when I was parked out front and the owner came outside while I was in my car to leave the credit card receipt for me to sign. Leaving also the food as well as she went inside and lock the door behind her. She waved because she recognized me even with my mask and thanked me for coming. You would never know this restaurant by looking at their name. Altho they call it Donut Bistro and Pho Noodles, they serve a Lot more than that. We've never had their donuts or pho noodles... we go there for their Chinese & Vietnamese food. In general, they have Excellent food at very reasonable prices... the proverbial "hidden gem." They have a good variety of dishes and i consider all their dishes to be excellent. My favorite is their Ma Po Tofu and my wife's favorite is their Beef with Green Beans or Asparagus. Nearly All their dishes are very Flavorful and you can't get enuf. They give you large portions of the dishes so you're always taking a box home. They also have very reasonably priced lunch dishes which includes soup, egg roll, and rice. We're not into donuts, but we plan to try their Pho dishes and drinks. The only reason i don't give 5 stars is because they're service is often slow (1 waitress) and you have to call her to get refills of water, getting the check, etc. We think she's doing her best. read more

After seeing a combination of donuts, Chinese, and pho we had to check this place out! We stayed at a hotel right across the street and called in a to-go order. It was ready in 20 minutes and they took great precautions during covid. The chicken chow fun was amazing. But what really stole the show was the homemade MASSIVE potstickers. By far the best I've ever had. So much so it made me write my first Yelp review in years. I would have given it 5 stars but we ordered egg drop soup and they gave us hot and sour. We should have checked the bag, but thats ok, it's my fiancé 's favorite soup, so he won for once. Will stop by for donuts tomorrow morning and will definitely eat here again when in town! read more

The menu has many different items, all of which are so tasty and able to be customizable. The owners are very nice and friendly! A few of my favorite/must have items include: Pork & veggie potstickers - wrapper is thick, chewy, and pan fried perfectly! The sauce is tangy and sweet and works absolutely great with the potstickers. A must have every time! Pho - I've had the rare beef, beef ball, and veggie pho. The broth is unreal! Rich and deep in flavor, not greasy at all. Toppings are great and noodles always cooked perfectly. Comes with the usual (basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, lime) on the side. Black bean chow fun - I literally crave this once a week! The noodles are thick and chewy (my favorite), Black bean sauce is salty and thick. I usually get the house chow fun, or get it with chicken and broccoli. Yum!! Walnut shrimp - prawns are HUGE! Batter is pretty light for being a deep fried dish. Thanks to Kevin Ashton, Executive Chef at Zozo's Italian Restaurant, I learned all about Kolache! If you're not familiar, Kolache are balls of sweetened bread dough, brushed with an egg wash and stuffed with delicious fillings, and Donut Bistro locations are the only places to get em! So this review is all about this unique and tasty pastry! I'm not sure why Donut Bistro makes these, but I'm sure glad they do, but they only produce a limited amount of each day. On the weekends the Kolache, along with all the other delicious donuts, sell out fast, so you've gotta get there early. Today being a weekday, I really didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised to find a few left in the case at 10am. Donut Bistro makes three kinds of Kolache, sausage, cheese and jalapeño, sausage and cheese, and meatball, but all that aside, for me Kolache are all about the dough! Soft interior, firm and chewy exterior with a hint of sweetness to compliment all the savory flavors inside. It's perfect! The Sausage, cheese and jalapeño is the best in my book, and it seems like they use cooked fresh jalapeños vs the canned pickled ones, and the sausage they use is a sliced spicy chorizo/andouille style with great flavor. The meatball is ok but they use the typical frozen party meatball and it's just not that great in my opinion. Two of these babies will set you back about three bucks, and will fill you Til lunch or even later! In not often near Donut Bistro but I do make it a point to stop in for these whenever I am.
