I visited for the first time yesterday, but have meaning to try it sooner. I ordered the last maple bacon, a cookies and cream and a mozzarella cheese and meatball kolache. The rest of the donuts appeared to be the standard and I could find those anywhere. The donuts melted in my mouth and for the rest of the day I just wanted another maple bacon. It was that good; from the dough and freshness you can taste!! Lol The cookies and cream was good and the filing was not too sweet, but I would have loved to have more cookies. The Kolache was good, but the only thing I would recommend is to serve it warm. Service was great, a young gentleman helped me and was very helpful and friendly. I'll be back to try some donut holes and a burrito in the very near future. read more

Donut Bistro is amazing!! So when I was about 5, I lived on a boat at a marina. We had a nice man who would come to the boats weekly or so and give everyone day-old donuts. I loved them! I love them so much that I went to my neighbors and said my mom doesn't feed me. Can I have a donut? My patient mother, who had to explain herself to cps, took me to Winchell's donuts. She let me order one dozen donuts for myself! I was so excited! I had to eat them all. It took a while until I ever wanted or asked for a donut again. Now I'm back in the game! When I asked him if there was another location he said he didn't know. Donuts are that "once in a blue moon" treat. So they need to be good. Donut Bistro (cute name) delivered fresh quality. Light and fluffy donuts cream filled and fruit filled are lovely. This place is simply great! The service is good. We were greeted immediately upon walking in and our order was taken shortly after. The two young men, who helped us, were polite and sociable, as we picked out our donuts and they boxed them up. They have a fair assortment of donuts, of all different flavors, and a more than a few extra special items, as well, like fritters, donut holes, and kolaches. The donuts, themselves, are tasty. My favorite was the old fashioned with chocolate on it. Yum! They are fresh and definitely hit the spot! Their prices are very reasonable! For a dozen donut holes, a dozen donuts and an apple fritter, we paid just under thirteen dollars. Good service, tasty food and affordable prices, all under one roof! Such a deal! Donuts, who does not like donuts. They are a quick breakfast snack and are so enjoyable. Going to a donut shop brings back good memories for me, my dad would stop at the local bakery and pick up a dozen donuts. Mixed in that dozen was always one or two maple bars, which I quickly grabbed from my three other brothers and one sister. To this day, maple bars are my favorite. I was in the neighborhood and decided to get a donut. The parking lot is fairly good size and is shared with a couple of business. There are five to six tables inside, the store is very clean and well lit. This is where the rating drops. I do not know for sure, but I think there was an ownership change, and with that change a change in quality. Donut Bistro used to have light fluffy donuts, it was a shop not like the normal donut shop. They did not mass produce. The donuts now are OK, nothing special. To bad. I can't comment on the customer service there since my husband picked up so donuts there after working an overnight shift at work. My whole pregnancy I have been craving donuts, so when he surprised me with Donut Bistro donuts in the morning, I was ecstatic! The donuts (and pastries) he got us (Apple Fritters, cherry burritos, sprinkled, chocolate frosting donuts) were all amazing. They were so fresh! I guess that's what you get when you order the donuts bright and early in the morning. Their selection of pastries are very unique. The Cherry Burrito pasty was very interesting, yet pretty darn good. It's basically a fried tortilla filled with cherry jelly, then glazed! Their other donuts were amazing...great flavor, and exactly what I would expect from a donut. I stopped by the new South Reno location, which I was told has been open a couple months now. It's address is: 465 S Meadows Pkwy, Reno, NV, 89521-5945; not sure how to update or add this address for Donut Bistro's second location to Yelp. I decided to give this place a try after receiving a mailer coupon for a free donut (buy one get one) and after reading Billy's review noting that they have chocolate creme-filled donuts (thanks bro!). I tried a double chocolate cake donut, and one of the chocolate cremes (it is a glaze donut with chocolate icing and filled with a chocolate-pudding type filling in the center). The cake donut was good sized but a tad crunchy for my taste; the chocolate creme donut however was delicious! The donut was light and fluffy; not too thick like some other places. I was on the look-out for the amount of filling in the center based on a previous review, but was pleasantly surprised as seemed more than a than a teaspoon to me and hit it on the first bite- so maybe they have increased the amount or was just a renegade batch one day. If the one I got had much more filling in it than it did, it might even have been over-load (too sweet). But then these things are always subjective to individual tastes and preferences. I confirmed they did indeed offer refills on the cofee, even for a large one. Service was great, a friendly cutie was the only employee and was on her toes as people walked in. The location is small and non-descript; couple of booths and some tables, and is located just north of and in the same complex as the Wells Fargo at S. Meadows Pkway and Gateway. I will definitely be back, but will stick to the glazed donuts and the chocolate creme ones in particular :-). We bought two chocolate creme donuts and both literally had less than a teaspoon of chocolate creme inside. I don't know if this is normal for them, but it was very disappointing, to say the least. And, when I say less than a teaspoon, I mean it. There was about an peanut-sized dap of creme hiding in the center. I love chocolate creme donuts and generally can't find them anywhere but Dunkin Donuts (and there's not a DD anywhere near here) so I was really excited when I heard they sold them. I'm not excited anymore. Maybe I'll go back some day, but I doubt it. Any company that would be this stingy with the filling could be cutting corners elsewhere. That scares me. read more

Best maple bars I've found in town so far. I love it when I get them and they're so freshly made they're still slightly warm. I do wish they had a version of a fruity-frosted raised/glazed donut (like a cherry or orange frosting); my 5-year old always requests them. Or a maple-chocolate hybrid drizzle would be another good seller. Their maple-bacon donuts are great and I don't know any other place in town that has them. I'm always driving by and amazed this place is open so late. It's really a nice little hidden gem in the Sparks area and I love that it's convenient and they're open til 9pm. read more

Well, I've had better--a lot better. In my opinion the Donut Bistro is not as good as Jelly Donut and nowhere near as good as Dough Boy Donuts. The donut I had was dry because it was over cooked and exceptionally bland. Maybe it was an off day or off batch, however, we are talking donuts here so there shouldn't be an off batch or day. Also, to the posters complaining about the use of the word bistro in the name of the establishment--all bistro means is "quick" or "quickly" and contrary to popular belief the word is not French and therefore isn't exclusive to French restaurants. The origin of the word bistro is Russian and was applied to small cafes that served simple food quickly in France after the Napoleonic Wars. Bistro, Russian, quick--deal with it. read more

Went there for the first time this morning. As with most donut shops, I tried to get there as early as possible, so that there would still be a decent selection. I made it at 8am and they were all out of maple bars and glazed. For a dozen of donuts I paid $8.99, which isn't bad. I understand why some people mentioned the customer service; while it wasn't horrible, the one kid was pretty short and seemed annoyed while helping the people before me. They had asked if one of the huge donuts constituted the equivalent of two or three donuts from their dozen. He looked at them as if they had the audacity to even ask that and just said -- after an awkard pause -- uh, no. I thought that was pretty lame. The guy that helped me was nice and patient when I was selecting from the little variety they had left. The donuts were pretty good; tasted very fresh. I tried the cookie n' creme donut which was really good. Overall, I only went here because it happened to be on the way and I didn't want to go too far out of my way to go to "Best donuts in town" (which is my all time favorite place.) I would not go here again, however, unless my destination was somewhere close to there, as it was this morning. read more

This place is awesome! It's so laid back. My husband and I stopped by on a Saturday for the first time. There were a lot of options. Many yummy looking choices. I got a basic glazed and a chocolate with sprinkles. Both very delicious. My husband got the Oreo stuffed one and the maple with bacon. He said he could take or leave the Oreo, but the maple made his whole morning. The bacon that they use was thick chunks and it looked yuuuuuummmmmyyy! I also got a small French Vanilla Cappuccino (they had three options and I believe hot cocoa as well) and my husband got a large black coffee. They had tea and milk and sodas. They also provide cream and sugar. It's very basic, but it's absolutely perfect. This is by no means a fancy coffee shop, but it is the BEST breakfast joint. The price was totally reasonable. I can't remember how much we spent, but it was under $20. We were able to get a booth in the back and we just relaxed for a bit and enjoyed it. Such a wonderful breakfast date. I would give this place a 5 star, but the parking lot is a nightmare. It was beyond slammed and sadly it's not all for the restaurant. Every single space was full when we got there and we had to wait a few minutes for someone to leave. When we went inside there were maybe 5 people inside so clearly the other businesses using that parking lot were busier. Big bummer. My biggest advice is DRIVE YOUR COMPACT CAR because we were in our truck and that was a big mistake. I did drive by the other day randomly to see how busy they were and the lot only had a couple cars so they aren't always slammed. read more
